This week's episode is all about promotions. Or, rather, when good promotions go bad. We call this “Promotion Demotion.” What if you don't want to be promoted? Or if you do get promoted and then realize, that “yikes!” it isn't the gravy train that you thought it would be? Or, if someone gets promoted that you don't think deserves it. What to do? What to do?Too Much Too Soon in Trenton got what they asked for—a promotion! And now they have cold feet. Suddenly they must manage their former peers—and nobody has taught them how to be a manager. Congratulations and condolences are in order. And some advice.I Prefer to Stay Put in Buckhead was just handed an automatic promotion. The problem? They don't feel ready. They fear that this promotion is well, too much—too soon. They fear that this promotion will only set them up for failure. What should they do?It's Not What you Know, It's Whom You Know is Chicago is bitter that someone with less technical expertise (than them) got promoted to manager. They are convinced that the promotion is only based on their “relationship” with the big boss. Mary & Chris talk them off the ledge. Show us your love. HOW TO BUILD UP FOR YOUR FALL RACE Podcast #156
Marni and Chris Gillis work tirelessly to extract every morsel of dating advice from the beginning of season 26 of The Bachelor. Sweet, former NFLer and alpha-male Clayton Echard was given a cool $100k to have 31 women test his dating mettle and claim their hearts. Let's see who stood out and who went home. Key takeaways from this episode: Rules on Valentine's Day gift giving Dropping into you feminine energy Are you ready for a serious relationship? What to do if a guy keeps mentioning his ex Salley Makes a Quick Exit [4:28] Salley, the blonde with the Love Island hair extensions, showed up for the opening show. But she did so only to tell Clayton she was supposed to get married the same weekend. Her quick exit came after telling Clayton she just wanted to meet him but she hadn't yet fully recovered from her breakup with her ex-fiance. It begs the question, how do you know when you should start dating again after a breakup? If you are still pining for your ex, you are not ready to be in a serious relationship. If you continue to be triggered by songs, memories, or anything else you and your ex did together, you are not ready. On the flip side, if you are on a date and a guy starts talking about his ex. Give him time to express himself and be curious. If he continues to do it on multiple dates, play the empathy card. If he realizes what he has been doing and stops all is well. If he doesn't stop, he is not ready to be dating yet. Tell him you are not a therapist and move on. Marni and Chris think Clayton may be insecure and he likely will fall for anyone who likes him. He kissed five women on the first night. They also think Salley will make a comeback later in the season. Exuding Masculine Energy [15:17] Marni notes that there are a lot of successful, professional women competing this season. It will be interesting to see if they are able to drop into their feminine energy during the dating process. Claire Heilig is an example of a woman who wasn't able to get there. She and Clayton go on a fake tailgating-esque date. She couldn't disguise her male vibe when they played cornhole. When Clayton got flirty about almost winning, Claire's testosterone shot up and she reminded him sternly that she, in fact, won the match. A guy doesn't want to kiss a dude in a dress. Are you being too competitive? Do you need to win? Chris says, she revealed more about how she feels about herself and her need to win. Too Much Too Soon, Gift Giving [26:13] Showing up with flowers on a first date is a tradition for some people, but showing up with a 100-year-old family photo is a bit much. Elizabeth offers the only copy of a family keepsake photo to Clayton right out of the gate. Marni points out that women tend to overgive. As a general rule, don't bring a gift to your first date. For Valentine's Day, if a guy you are dating hasn't asked you out by Feb. 7th, you can ask what is going on. Or, tell him how much you love celebrating the date. It doesn't have to be awkward. Just have an open-ended conversation. It isn't always easy to put yourself out there. Vulnerability is necessary for communication. A gift doesn't have to be tangible. It can be a simple compliment. Buckle up sluts! By the time this episode comes out the Babes will have been together for a whole weekend and Emily will have kissed Charlotte on her stupid mouth. Elaina's boyfriend is setting Emily up on a blind date so we'll see how that goes. This week, we're talking about how Emily needs to stop going out on Sundays and the repercussions of it. Basically she made out with the male version of Charlotte. Have you ever just looked at someone and known you were going to break them? If you're Too Much Too Soon™️, Emily has probably thought this. The Babes go through the pain of being so drunk you forget how to make out, a heist plan involving a stolen bar shirt, and some new and interesting evasion maneuvers. If you're no longer interested in someone, you're going to hurt their feelings…it's just going to happen. The this you have to decide is HOW you're going to hurt his feelings. And somehow during all of this we make the connection between our relationship and Finding Nemo? We don't know…All this and more on Babes and Bad Decisions! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Escuchar audio

#dewplayer {display:none;} It might be hot in the UK right now but this cool little harmonic drum and bass mix might just chill you out between the thunder storms. Please make sure you listen on appropriate equipment otherwise you miss out on much of the best bits. There is a curated selection from the present world of drum of bass in this mix. Look out for forthcoming material from fellow english Nottinghamian Joe Nebula; new releases featuring Simplification (Brazil), Command Strange (Kazakhstan) and even the return of legendary Hungarian producer, ICR. Another notable addition is a boiling hot liquid pearl from Dave Owen (UK/USA) called "Send Me Your Love" featuring a sick time-stretched vocal sample from the late Marvin Gaye (lyrics below). Finally, many thanks to all the featured artists and Dave Ashton for the inspired cover artwork. If you feel like supporting me too, one easy way is to share this with your friends. I always appreciate getting new listeners! If I could build my whole world around you, darlin' First I'd put heaven by your side. Now, five years later, she is positively drenched!First came her Off Broadway debut understudying the two female roles in the Bill Finn revue, Make Me a Song. Then followed a very happy run, first at Berkeley Rep and then on Broadway, in Green Day's American Idiot (Check out her hot duet from the cast recording: "Too Much Too Soon".)Along the way, she's performed in countless cabaret shows - here are youtube videos of her definitive performances of two of my songs "Celebrate" and "I Just Wanna Have Fun" in concert. Happily, one of her solo concerts was preserved with a live recording, which you can purchase from her outrageously not-up-to-date website: Alysha Umphress - Live at the Laurie Beechman. This coming season, you'll be able to catch her on Broadway again (!!) in the upcoming revival of On a Clear Day..., as well as on television as a guest star on Showtime's Nurse Jackie. She's on fire!!September inspired a flurry of song ideas, 95% of which were rooted in back-to-school, which made Karen Buerkle's idea stand out that much more: she wrote "That's when the Bennys go home." Not knowing what this cryptic sentence meant, I did a little research, which led me to this website and this Facebook page. (At the time of uploading this episode, the Benny Go Home website was experiencing technical difficulties. Hopefully, it will be live again soon, so you can see what I found.) In a nutshell, a Benny is a summer tourist visiting the Monmouth or Ocean County Jersey shore. While there are several explanations for the origin of the name, the favored one is that it's an acronym for the cities these tourists primarily came from back in the day, namely Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York. The locals frown upon what they perceive to be disrespectful Benny behavior. A grass roots campaign called "Benny Go Home" has evolved, with logos, bumper stickers, and things like these three beach scenes.... Given that I grew up in Monmouth County (in fact, Karen Buerkle played the title role in our community theatre production of Annie Get Your Gun back in the early 80s), I couldn't resist this subject matter for the September song. And since I've been making it a habit of sneaking musical quotes into several of these Month Upon a Time songs, this title offered up a no-brainer. Thanks, Karen! For the record, I think the members of the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore would definitely be considered Bennys. This episode was recorded September 12, 2011.

One of our listeners (Randall) emailed the show... because he ended up going out with the Same Girl TWO TIMES in one day! Sounds GREAT. But now it's obvious she's blowing him off... was it a case of TOO MUCH TOO SOON? Or is there something else working against him? Find out in the Second Date Update! (Image Courtesy: Yogesh Mhatre.
