Today's guest is the founder and CEO of OnSite, Francis Larose. OnSite is based in Montreal, Quebec, and made history this past summer when it became likely the first North America-based wall manufacturer to complete a commercial climbing gym project in Europe. OnSite making the leap from the North American market to the European market is the reverse of what typically happens; much more common has been European builders pursuing gym projects in North America. That accomplishment for OnSite is a focal point of today's episode, but Francis and host John Burgman cover a lot of other ground too, including Francis's prior work in the video game industry, OnSite's urban boulders, and advice for other North American brands looking to go global. Thank you OnSite for your support! And thank you Devin Dabney for your music!

While the counties are preparing for the election and handling early voting, Secretary of State Frank LaRose has pursued a lawsuit against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. LaRose wants access to a database to check the citizenship status of Ohio voters. Any access if granted would not change anything for this election, LaRose has said. We will begin Friday's “Reporters Roundtable” with LaRose's ongoing efforts to get access to citizenship records as well as a judge's decision to throw out a challenge by the ACLU of Ohio over an Ohio rule that requires newly naturalized citizens to present their papers to vote if their state ID still labels them as a non-citizen. Plus, the nonprofit organization that owns both Progressive Field and Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse says it needs $40 million combined from the city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County to pay expenses owed to both the Guardians and Cavaliers. Gateway is publicly funded and acts as landlord for the teams that rent the downtown facilities. The request is split between $20 million for Progressive Field which the city will field and another $20 million from the county for Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Election Day is less than two weeks away. County boards of elections have their hands full, but adding to the workload is the high number of voter registration challenges being filed. Elections officials say the number of challenges is unprecedented. In Wood County alone, the elections board received challenges to 16,000 voter registrations. They were all filed by one person. They all must be investigated. Voting rights organizations are concerned that recently naturalized citizens will be disenfranchised from voting in Ohio either due to poll workers' confusion or because of hurdles they say Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose's office has created. Naturalized citizens are citizens of the United States and have the same right to vote. But concerned groups say the state's photo ID law, and a new form put out by LaRose, may present difficulties for them should their status be challenged. This week Attorney General Dave Yost announced indictments in illegal voting cases in the state -- a total of 6 people. More than 8 million are registered to vote in Ohio. Three people in Franklin County and one each in Cuyahoga, Summit and Portage counties are accused of voting illegally as non-citizens in past elections. The indictments amount to less than 1% of the 600 cases the secretary of state very publicly referred to the attorney general. And the person indicted in Cuyahoga County has been dead for two years. We will begin Friday's Reporters Roundtable we will talk over some of the voting issues officials are contending with as we get closer to Election Day.

Jason LaRose has built quite a reputation for himself throughout his career in his desire to help companies scale and grow. He worked for companies like Under Armour, where he became their President of the North America Region. He then went onto Equinox Media, where he served as the CEO, helping them build out their technologies and their content. From there, he co-founded and became President of a company called The Post, which is actually how we got connected; The Post has created a community for former athletes, and some current athletes, to come together to learn together and support each other. It is an amazing networking group that continues to grow. Most recently, he became the President of Bombas. If you're unfamiliar with Bombas, it is an incredible, mission-driven apparel company (and as I said to Jason, I am currently wearing their socks, their socks are really what put them on the map). They created a company that not just created comfortable and quality socks, but also with a mission behind it where they give away apparel for every apparel that's bought, and they support homeless shelters all throughout the country. So, Jason is somebody who's been at the ground level of companies, he's helped companies scale and grow from $1 billion to $5 billion, and at his core he's someone who considers himself to be an operator, he considers himself to be someone who can create strategy and execute by using amazing systems, and I think that's going to come across in today's conversation. And he's someone who clearly values culture; he values mission, he values doing good while also doing well. I think he has great clarity and it's going to come across in our conversation as far as what he sees a successful business is and his own growth as he's developed himself through the years. Jason had a number of amazing insights during our conversation. Some of them include: “The mission at Bombas is just too hard to pass up” (5:55). “The mission [at Bombas] is who we are; it's why the company was founded in the first place” (7:25). “At Bombas, we give [the consumer] a way to be a part of the solution” (8:10). “Brand is a promise” (12:00). “At Bombas, we talk about three words all the time: comfort, quality, and mission” (12:25). “Everything contributes to mission” (13:35), “Mission only matters [at Bombas] if you sell” (14:00). “I probably hate to lose more than I love to win” (19:05). “I love to look out and see the potential conditions for success being there” (19:15). “More than anything, what I love is growth” (19:30). “I'm not very good at [being] content” (23:20). “Over time, I've learned to be more appreciative and take those moments to reflect” (26:55). “Founders are special people” (28:50). “I'm enamored with people who know things that I don't know” (29:25). “Really great founders are maniacal about their brands” (32:15). “Scale doesn't come just because you have a great idea” (33:40). “What athletes are most amazing at is watching the film” (39:35). “Great athletes and great coaches don't only have one solution” (43:20). “Once you get people aligned around the mission, you can do almost anything” (44:15). Additionally, you can follow Bombas on all social media platforms and connect with Jason on LinkedIn. Thank you so much to Jason for coming on the podcast! I wrote a book called “Shift Your Mind” that was released in October of 2020, and you can order it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) issued new guidance over the weekend that limits the use of drop boxes in the state. Democrats in the state said the rule disproportionately impacts seniors and voters with disabilities and violates state law. The aim of the directive, according to LaRose, is to enforce Ohio's ban on “ballot harvesting,” which is “a process by which an individual attempts to collect and return absent voters' ballots of other persons without accountability.” Lawyer and former Chairman of the Ohio Democratic David Pepper explains. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose has directed county boards of election to limit how voters can use ballot drop boxes in this fall's election. LaRose's directive requires that a voter can only put their own absentee ballot in a drop box. If they are dropping off a ballot for a family member or someone else as allowed by state law, the voter must sign a form with the board stating they are lawfully assisting the other voter. The story begins this week's discussion of news on the “Reporters Roundtable.”

Frank LaRose, prominent Ohio Secretary of State, made a critical announcement this Wednesday that President Joe Biden won't be featured on the state's November ballot. The decision arrived after the local legislature failed to push the certification date beyond the Democrat National Convention, where the formal conferral of Biden as the party's standard-bearer will take place. The designated deadline for the certification of Ohio's ballot is the 7th of August, which happens to be 12 days before the commencement of the DNC Convention in Chicago on August 19. LaRose, a dedicated public servant, has repeatedly emphasized his keen interest in preserving voters' choice in the Presidential election. However, as Ohio's top-notch elections officer, he is also bound by the need to uphold the existing legal framework. In his notion snared on X, he voiced that due to the current political circumstances, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, unfortunately, wouldn't be part of Ohio's voting ballot. This change, according to LaRose, does not stem from any personal inclination or preference, but due to a legal contradiction created by the party itself. The Democrat party, till now, hasn't offered a solution compliant with the ruling legal framework. He deemed this lack of a workable solution as the prime reason for the anomaly. Communicating his concerns and outlining the prevailing complications, LaRose directed a letter to Liz Walters, the Ohio Democrat Chairwoman. In his missive, he elaborated that the Speaker of the Ohio House publicly revealed that a legislative resolution ensuring Biden's presence on the ballot seems far-fetched.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This past Tuesday brought an example of decisive action taken by our leaders to uphold the rule of law. Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose took a stand for the integrity of our elections by directing the purge of 'non-citizens' from the state's voter registration records, in the wake of an investigation revealing over 100 illegal immigrants had made their way onto the rolls. The probe was carried out by the Public Integrity Division in Ohio, leading to the discovery of 137 non-citizens registered to vote. This, despite the fact that these individuals had twice confirmed their non-citizen status with the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in accordance with the law. LaRose drew attention to the clear mandate expressed by the citizens of Ohio, who passed a constitutional amendment emphasizing the right to vote as a privilege reserved strictly for U.S. citizens. He declared that his role as Secretary of State carries the obligation to honor the constitution and the explicit directive from state lawmakers to verify the eligibility of all registered voters. In a public statement from his office, LaRose outlined the action plan to address this issue. All non-citizens identified will receive at least two written letters requesting confirmation of their citizenship status, or alternatively, they can opt to revoke their voter registration. Should they fail to respond to these communications, their registrations will be cancelled by the county election boards. This was confirmed by a representative from LaRose's office to Fox News Digital, with a clear assertion that lack of response would ultimately subject those individuals to removal from the state's voter rolls.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On this episode, Amanda Head talks with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose about the need to close the state and federal loopholes that still allow foreign money to influence ballot initiatives and campaigns. Secretary LaRose referenced the “radical pro-abortion amendment” that was passed last year that ended up having ‘tens of millions of dollars in funding behind it.' LaRose referred to this outside foreign influence as ‘political money laundering' that is used every election cycle to fund ‘Democrat propaganda'. The Secretary wants this scheme to end once and for all which is why he recently worked to get legislation introduced at the state level with hopes to outlaw these big billionaire foreigners from participating and swaying American citizens in the next big ballot initiative fight.Furthermore, Amanda talks with small business owner and current California Assembly Candidate Ted Nordblum about the top issues that negatively impact the people of The Golden State. Between the liberal control of the state assembly, to the bad ideas and policies that helped progressive Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom become the liberal mainstream media's favorite governor, Ted breaks down all the hot-button issues. Nordblum goes on to talk about the importance of defending Proposition 13, how to get California's unbelievably high unemployment rate under control, and how the aftermath of quadrupling the state budget to fund wish-list pipe-dreams hasn't helped in the slightest.Be sure to tune in to the latest episode of Furthermore with Amanda Head on your favorite podcast platform, or go to JustTheNews.com/podcasts/furthermore-amanda-head and follow her on social media by searching for her handle, @AmandaHead.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
