A tongue in cheek campaign has been launched in Australia to encourage Kiwis there to vote in the upcoming election. "This election, Australia decides." Overseas voting opens tomorrrow and non-partisan voting organisation, Every Kiwi Vote Counts, is attempting to increase turn out with our trans-Tasman neighbours. Tracey Lee is the director of Every Kiwi Vote Counts and speaks to Lisa Owen from New York. [embed] https://players.brightcove.net/6093072280001/default_default/index.html?videoId=6337838853112
If every New Zealander living in Australia voted this election, they would make up approximately thirteen percent of the total vote. That's according to Every Kiwi Vote Counts - an organisation that encourages overseas voter participation. They estimate that half a million eligible voters live in Australia, but only a tenth of that number voted in 2020. With overseas votes tending to lean left, greater turnout across the ditch could have a real impact on the election. Tracey Lee organises the Every Kiwi Vote Counts campaign. Lee spoke to Corin Dann.

Every woman holds incredible potential within herself so get out of her damn way. Today, we have the privilege of talking to Tracey Lee, a true force in women's empowerment, and the brilliant mind behind the 'Get Out of Her Damn Way' movement. But that's not all; we've got something even more exciting to talk about—a virtual summit happening from September 27th to 29th that's going to change lives. Tracey shares how the 'Get Out of Her Damn Way' movement came to be. It started with an unforgettable experience from the 'All About Women's Show,' where she set up a mirror with a lipstick message that read, 'Look at me, world. I'm getting out of my own damn way.' The response from women was overwhelming, and it became the spark that ignited this incredible movement. Tracey discussed the importance of seeking support and mentorship to break free from self-limiting beliefs. We shared our own journeys and the impact of empowering ourselves on others. As Tracey says, you have the power to choose the version of yourself that makes decisions in your life. Join us on this journey, and let's break the silence together. Stay tuned for more updates about the 'Get Out of Her Damn Way' summit! I will be speaking at The Get Out of Her Damn Way Summit on September 27th, 28th, and 29th. Tracey had quite a few choices when she left school. One of them was to follow her passion of caring for animals, but the daunting years of study at University in a new city at such a young age put her off and she instead ended up following the money in a Paralegal career. Her years of disappointing experiences in that legal industry, including being bullied, micro managed, used as a glorified photocopier and generally undervalued, overworked and used up, led her to start thinking there was something wrong with her. It wasn't until the final straw of her last job when she was at a really low point in her career and job searching yet again, that she saw an opportunity to work at the Animal Welfare League, a childhood passion of caring for animals that she had long forgotten about. Taking a huge pay cut, but following her intuition, Tracey applied for and got the job where she now works caring for animals (pets) who have been surrendered or dumped, finding new homes for them and giving them the love they deserve. Traceys story has come full circle and she is finally doing work that she loves and following the passion that she sidestepped years before. After a narcissistic and abusive romantic partner cheated on her with multiple women and left her (and the country) with significant unexpected bad debt and ruined credit, Candice was forced to rebuild her life, her credit and her trust in herself. Over the next few years, Candice navigated the challenging world of foreclosure court, filing for financial proposals and divorce. During these times she adopted a minimalist lifestyle, leaned on her personal network and practiced radical personal forgiveness, acceptance and responsibility. The journey was not without its impact and Candice shares powerfully about dealing with anxiety, depression, shame and learning to let go. Now debt-free, financially stable and in a safe committed relationship, Candice loves her minimalist lifestyle for the beauty and freedom it offers her. She knows the power of a good thrift store shop and loves her wardrobe! She has learned the power of saying no, listening to your own heart and speaks openly about subtle abuse as it occurs in relationships. She's become a voice for listening to your own truth and speaking it powerfully. She knows how to save money, make money online and in creative ways to balance the books as a single mom and yet live your biggest and best life. This series gives a voice to those who have overcome challenges in all forms, that dare greatly to share their real stories, that have seen hope and rose above those adversities to become victorious, to go on to support and inspire others to do the same. The Cave Radio Show feat. Producers and Musicians Tracey Lee & Jermaine Hardsoul GENRES: R&B and Neo-Soul NEW SINGLE: Butter Soft Website: https://www.artistecard.com/ButterSoft#!/bio JERMAINE- Jermaine HardSoul could be called a triple threat: he writes, produces and is a musician. His musical journey dates back to the age of 11, when Jermaine started playing the guitar. As an accomplished singer, producer, songwriter and guitarist he seamlessly implements his affinities for 90s R&B into the album alongside current culture club bangers. After producing a number of great records over the years for his peers such as Musiq Soulchild, Eric Roberson, and Carl Thomas the timing couldn't have been better for him to carve out his own lane as an artist. TRACEY- After graduating from Howard University with a degree in Communications, Tracey Lee inked a recording deal with Bystorm/Universal Records under which he released a solo album entitled, Many Facez (1997). This album included the hit single, The Theme (It's Party Time), which settled on Billboard's Top 100 for thirty-seven weeks. He had the opportunity to collaborate with award-winning artists such as the Notorious B.I.G., Busta Rhymes, and Kanye West. Some of Tracey's performances and appearances included BET Rap City: The Basement, BET Teen Summit, Keenan Ivory Wayans Show, and HBO Original Series: ARLI$$. Tracey earned a Juris Doctorate Degree from Southern University Law Center making him the 1st former major label hip-hop artist to earn the abbreviation Esq. behind his name. Some of his clients include Eric Roberson (Grammy-Nominated R&B Singer/Songwriter), Invisible Productions (for Kelly Rowland, Solange Knowles and Kobe Bryant), and DJ Young Guru (Tour DJ & Engineer for Jay-Z).

Some of his clients include Eric Roberson (Grammy-Nominated R&B Singer/Songwriter), Invisible Productions (for Kelly Rowland, Solange Knowles and Kobe Bryant), and DJ Young Guru (Tour DJ & Engineer for Jay-Z). In 2014, Tracey returned to the music scene as an independent artist under his LLeft Entertainment label releasing his project entitled ESQ. The Revelation, with appearances by DJ Young Guru, Eric Roberson, and Algebra Blessett. Fall of 2016, he joined the faculty staff of Coppin State University as an adjunct professor teaching The Business of Music. In 2018, Tracey released Expect The Unexpected, an album that brilliantly bridges the gap musically between the new school sound and hip-hop culture's foundation. On July 31, 2020, Tracey released his latest project Glory, which is already being revered as Tracey's magnum opus. Created in the midst of a major societal shift, (Covid-19, Quarantine, Police Brutality, and Civil Unrest), this album is a pure product of the now and the way forward on a landscape cultivated entirely by the production of super producer, Ojizz. Tracey currently sits on the Governor's Board for The Recording Academy Washington, DC Chapter, and is a member of Black Entertainment and Sports Law Association (BESLA), American Bar Association (ABA), Screen Actors Guild (SAG), and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/humovemakers/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/humovemakers/support
In late 2016, after struggling to recover from a common cold, Tracey-Lee realised that she needed to change her way of life. Her doctor informed her that if she did not lose the weight now and commit to a healthy and active lifestyle, that she would develop diabetes and other catastrophic health concerns. Tracey-Lee realised that her way of life then had led her to gain more than 50KGs in the preceding two years and, as such, she chose to make some serious changes. She embarked on a mission to prove to herself that she could achieve anything she put her mind to. In order to remain accountable, Tracey-Lee made the brave and vulnerable decision to share her honest journey on Instagram and created her account @fitnessgirl_za. Initially her intention was for the account to be her commitment device and to act as a visual diary of her own progress and achieved goals. With dedication and commitment and lots of hard work, she endlessly sought the happiness that she believed would undoubtedly be found in her “goal weight”. However, @fitnessgirl_za eventually turned into so much more; it became a testimony of realising her innate worthiness, regardless of her size or weight. The happiness, she realised, was always there irrespective of her weight. Tracey-Lee is the full package. Not only is she a fitness motivator and body positive advocate/influencer, she is also a full time family law attorney. To this day, she holds the eyes of over 22,000 women from around the world, all shapes, sizes and nationalities, who are inspired by her truth, humility and very public internal shift from goals to gratitude. In this episode we unpack how Tracey-Lee's purpose and intentions for her brand shifted from aesthetic weight conscious goals to self-love and body positive goals; all while sharing her mental health shift publicly and with vulnerability over the last 4 years. We discuss why she is a mental health warrior, her tips for how she handles her anxiety, how she juggles the balance between her legal career and her personal brand, and so much more. Most importantly, we address how “healthy” is the new skinny and worthiness is a CHOICE made within. It was a dream to speak with such an authentic, raw, and motivational person – I am truly inspired, and you will be too. Happy listening!
