Embark on a nostalgic joyride as Vinnie Giacalone joins me for a recollection of friendship and discovering music, beginning 45 years ago. We recall the night The Police "Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" inspired my unique dance style, a curious mix of Snoopy's happy moves and The Blues Brothers. Laughter is in the air as we revisit Vinny's brakeless bike escapades, marking a trail from our reckless past to present-day triumphs such as 'The Organized Guy,' Vinny's own venture, now celebrating a decade. These tales of past follies and successes are the symphony of our shared history, underscored by the profound absence of guitar virtuoso Randy Rhoads, whose untimely passing took place the same day as my triumphant dance debut. In a crescendo of personal revelations, Vinnie unveils his top five albums, including gems like "Sgt. Pepper's" and "Rumors," and The Doors "Morrison Hotel," not as a ranked list, but as gateways to cherished memories. Jimmy and I, then meander through diverse musical landscapes, from Billy Joel's "Piano Man," "Van Halen II," The Cure, and Depeche Mode singles. The finale brings us to a live Bob Dylan performance, where the fusion of timeless classics and the fresh tracks from "Rough and Rowdy Ways" left us captivated. A tip of the hat to our guest, Vinny Giacalone, for the shared memories, - a symphony of tales, tunes, and timeless reflections.Vinnie can be contacted at vinnie@theorganizedguy,com or check out his website at theorganizedguy.com.Please Like and Follow our Facebook page Music In My Shoes. We've already covered a couple of Journey albums. Episode 250 profiled "Infinity," the introduction of Steve Perry to the group. And episode 26 delved into arguably the high water mark for Journey, the album "Escape." Here we take a look at the band as they are in their transition into one of the world's biggest rock bands. The appropriately-titled album Evolution is Journey's fifth studio album. Here we find Steve Perry settling in as front man while still sharing lead vocal duties with keybaordist Gregg Rolie. They have also replaced drummer Aynsley Dunbar with Steve Smith, previously with Ronnie Montrose's band. The band is continuing to explore a more radio-friendly sound. The lineup for this band includes Perry, Rolie, and Dunbar, along with Neil Schon on guitar, and Ross Valory on bass.At the time, "Evolution" was the band's most successful album, and it reached number 20 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also featured their first single to enter the top 20. The album was actually released in March of 1979, but was recorded in the fall of 1978. We're featuring it in January of 1979 because - well - that's where we were able to fit it in.Brian rejoins us in todays podcast to sub for an absent Wayne, and to profile this album. Too LateA deeper cut written by Perry and Schon, this song was written about a friend from Steve Perry's hometown who was wrestling with addiction to drugs. It was a plea to get out of town and the surroundings that fed his addiction before it was too late to break the chains of addiction.Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'The biggest hit from the album is a slow rocker with a shuffle beat. It hit number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November of 1979, the group's first foray into the top 20. The song is based on a true story about a cheating woman who finds out that turnabout is fair play - and that cheating on a songwriter can result in your being memorialized in a song.City of the AngelsWhile they were known as a San Francisco band, this album track pays homage to Los Angeles. It was written by Perry, Schon and Rolie. On the album, "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" immediately leads into this track, and you will occasionally hear these played together on album-oriented stations and satellite radio.Just the Same WayThis single finds Gregg Rolie taking turns with Perry on lead vocals. It was written by Rolie, Schon, and Ross Valory, making it the only song on the album not written or co-written by Steve Perry. It is an infatuation song, with a great call-and-answer in the chorus between Rolie and Perry. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:The Pink Panther Theme by Henry ManciniThe Saturday morning cartoon show with a silent protagonist, "The Pink Panther," ended its run after 10 years. STAFF PICKS:Gold by John StewartLynch's staff pick is a top 5 hit from John Stewart's album "Bombs Away Dream Babies," his first solo top 40 hit. Both Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks contributed to the album, and Nicks provides backing vocals on this song. The vocals describe the dark, cynical side of the recording industry.Planet Claire by The B-52'sRob brings us a musical interpretation of a B-rated sci-fi movie. Once the instrumental and sound-effects - with a Peter Gunn-inspired beat - give way to Fred Schneider's vocals, we find that the girl is from Planet Claire, drives a Plymouth Satellite, and "some say she's from Mars, or one of the seven stars that shine after 3:30 in the morning. Well, she isn't!"Dance the Night Away by Van Halen Bruce features the first US top 20 hit by Van Halen. This song is unusual because it is the only song on the "Van Halen II" album that originated in the studio rather than as a song the group had honed on tour for a long time. It also downplays Eddie Van Halen's guitar virtuosity and brings up the vocal harmonies. Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" was an inspiration for this single.Rock n Roll Fantasy by Bad CompanyBrian's staff pick was written by Bad Co. front man Paul Rogers, and reflects the truth that Rock music is escapism, a fantasy to take you away from the stress of the everyday world for a bit. It was the lead single from the album "Desolation Angels." While not their highest charting single, it is their best selling single. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Main Theme from the motion picture "Alien"The disturbing soundtrack was one element of what made this sci-fi horror film so creepy. Van Halen's "David Lee Roth years" refer to a period in the band's history when David Lee Roth served as the lead vocalist. This era is often considered the band's most iconic and commercially successful phase. It spans from the band's formation in the early 1970s through Roth's departure in 1985, with a brief reunion in the early 2000s. Here are some key points about Van Halen during the David Lee Roth years: 1. Formation and Debut Album: Van Halen was formed in Pasadena, California, in 1972. The band consisted of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums, Michael Anthony on bass, and David Lee Roth as the flamboyant frontman. They released their self-titled debut album in 1978, which quickly gained attention for Eddie Van Halen's groundbreaking guitar work. 2. Musical Innovation: Eddie Van Halen's guitar-playing technique, characterized by finger-tapping and incredible speed, revolutionized the rock guitar scene. Songs like "Eruption" showcased his virtuosity and set a new standard for guitarists. 3. Commercial Success: With albums like "Van Halen II," "Women and Children First," "Fair Warning," and "Diver Down," the band achieved tremendous commercial success. Hits like "Runnin' with the Devil," "Jump," "Hot for Teacher," and "Panama" became rock anthems and solidified their place in music history. 4. Live Performances: Van Halen was renowned for their electrifying live performances, with David Lee Roth's charismatic stage presence and the band's high-energy shows contributing to their status as one of the greatest live acts in rock history. 5. Personality Clashes: Despite their musical success, tensions within the band, particularly between Roth and the Van Halen brothers, led to Roth's departure from the band in 1985. 6. Sammy Hagar Era: After David Lee Roth's departure, Sammy Hagar replaced him as the lead vocalist, and the band continued to enjoy commercial success through the late 1980s and early 1990s. 7. Reunion: In 1996, David Lee Roth briefly reunited with Van Halen for a successful tour. A second reunion occurred in 2007, resulting in a new album and tour. The David Lee Roth years of Van Halen are remembered as a golden era for the band, marked by innovation, unforgettable music, and legendary performances. David Lee Roth's distinctive vocals and stage presence, combined with Eddie Van Halen's guitar wizardry, defined a sound and style that remains influential in the world of rock music. http://www.van-halen.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfOTTeREY6_1LSW5M0bdG7g?feature=gws_kp_artist&feature=gws_kp_artist https://x.com/vanhalen?s=21&t=Mzw5de5zsR-SDDbhyzH0Lg https://instagram.com/vanhalen?igshid=NzZhOTFlYzFmZQ== https://www.facebook.com/VanHalen?mibextid=LQQJ4d https://youtube.com/@vanhalenVEVO?si=BQEEZKzEby4C8W7S https://music.apple.com/us/artist/van-halen/166529 #VanHalen #DavidLeeRoth #EddieVanHalen #RockLegends #ClassicRock #GuitarHero #VanHalenFans #VanHalenLive #1980sMusic #RockHistory https://www.facebook.com/LukeBuysVintage?mibextid=LQQJ4d Luke Buys Vintage I buy vintage band shirts. Let's go back in time when heavy metal was just beginning to find its legs (after its birth in 1970 with BLACK SABBATH's self-titled debut). A big salute to 1979 - one of the greatest years (the greatest?!) in music history. So much so that we had to extend the playlist to 50+ minutes! Van Halen is one of the most influential bands in rock-n-roll history. Period. And their story simply cannot be told in one chapter (or podcast). Chapter 1: DIAMOND DAVE, BABY. The first four Van Halen albums – Van Halen, Van Halen II, Women and Children First, Fair Warning – are iconic, unparalleled in the annals of hard rock and heavy metal. Lead singer: David Lee Roth: master showman and the ultimate frontman. What he might lack in vocal chops, he more than makes up with charisma, hoots and howls, leg-kicks and “I WILL ENTERTAIN YOU UNTIL YOU ARE ENTERTAINED” determination. And, yes, he probably invented LSD: Lead Singer Disease. On guitar: Edward Van Halen. EVH. I mean, c'mon. It's Hendrix, Clapton, Page, and Eddie Van Halen. Bruce Springsteen once said “If you sound like them, you play like them.” And how many guitarists in the 80s and 90s tried to sound like Eddie Van Halen? Every single one of them. And not just the usual suspects from the Sunset Strip, but Billy Corgan and Mike McCready from Sherman and Ski's sweet spot of 90s alternative too. Everything was held down by the ultimate rhythm section of Michael Anthony on bass and Alex Van Halen on drums. Unlike Eddie, you might not find them on any top ten lists of their craft, but they laid the foundation and powered the band forward, especially live. And not to be overlooked, Anthony's backing vocals reached incredible heights and are almost foundational to the sound of the band, unlike anything you might here this side of Mike Mills from R.E.M. They became arena rock heroes when rock bands were still able to break through relentless touring and FM radio. And then there was the birth of MTV and music videos. The album “1984” was their swan song with Roth and their most commercial album to date, layered with synths and pop gems like their first number 1 hit, “Jump” and videos that defined the time like “Hot for Teacher.” Much to the chagrin of their longtime fans and rock guitar absolutists, Van Halen was suddenly climbing the pop charts and rubbing shoulders with Madonna and Michael Jackson (Eddie of course added his signature sound to “Beat It”). Yet at the height of their success, Roth left to pursue a solo career and it seemed Van Halen had reached the end of the line. How many bands in rock history get a second act when they replace the lead singer? Well, Sherman and Ski have a story to tell you about the birth and success of Van Hagar. But we'll leave that to the next installment!

It's Twosday! And to celebrate, Jay and Shua are taking a look at sequels. Not just movies, but TV, video games, music and more! Come have fun with us and Enjoy Stuff 2: Electric Boogaloo! Today is February 22, 2022. Why is that important you ask? Well, if you are a numerophile then you might be really interested in the date 2-22-22. Especially at 2:22:22. For us, it means today is all about the number two! Specifically, sequels. Join us as we look into the the history and thought process behind making a continuation of a story. News A Futurama revival has been ordered for Hulu RIP Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman Are you ready for a new Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers movie? It's coming to Disney+ Soon we will get to see how Ralphie raised his kids in a Christmas Story sequel John Cena will be co-starring with the legendary stunt performer, Wile E. Coyote in Coyote vs Acme What we're Enjoying Shua Received a very special retro gift from his lovely wife for Valentine's Day. Two peanuts collections in paperback form from the 60s helped to spark tons of childhood memories. She used to read them endlessly and his drawing career began when he would copy the pictures from Books. Jay started a new series on Amazon Prime. Reacher tells the story of a muscular Stranger who wanders into town and gets accused of murder. Trust us, it's better than we are making it sound. Enjoy Movies! (and TV, Games, Music, and more!) Sequels have been around almost as long as movies. But when did they start adding numbers to a title to indicate that it was a continuation of the plot? We found the first evidence of a Roman numeral in a title back in 1957 with a movie from England called Quatermass II. Roman numerals became really popular after 1974's The Godfather part II. We got a plethora of sequels with those parallel little numbering systems with Superman II, Star Trek two, Rambo II, and of course the iconic weekend at Bernie's II. They don't all have Roman numerals but a sequel really means that someone liked the first story and wanted it to continue. Why do we like sequels? Is it just a cash grab from the studios? Or is it because we just don't want the characters and story to end? Sequels aren't unique to movies either. Television shows sometimes have sequels, but usually they're called spinoffs. The Jeffersons was a spinoff to All in the Family. Laverne and Shirley was a spinoff for Happy Days, as was Mork and Mindy. The title numbering may be different, but they are still sequels. Video games jumped into the sequel world. Sometimes they would differentiate from the original by giving it a similar title like Donkey Kong Jr. or Ms. Pac-Man. Or sometimes they maintained their cinematic quality by giving them numbers like Streetfighter II or Mortal Kombat II. Even the music industry got into the sequel numbering game. Some iconic albums were numbered with Roman numerals like Led Zeppelin II, McCartney II, Queen II, and Van Halen II. Plus tons of Greatest Hits compilations will throw numbers on their titles to let everyone know you need to collect the whole set. Now that's what I call music! Do you like sequels? Join us for a special tribute to the legendary rock n roll band Van Halen! Founded by Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony in 1974, this foursome became one of the biggest bands in the world with albums such as Van Halen, Van Halen II and 1984 and iconic songs such as "Jump," "Beautiful Girls," Hot for Teacher" and many more hits!! Van Halen revamped in 1985 following the departure of David Lee Roth with new lead singer Sammy Hagar and did not miss a beat, pumping out its first #1 album 5150 and many more #1 albums through Sammy's reign that ended in 1995, as well as many hits such as "Right Now," "Top of the World," and "Best of Both Worlds. With Eddie Van Halen passing away this month, we wanted to pay a special tribute to Eddie and the rest of the amazing talents of Van Halen that have brought so many moments of joy to us. RIP Eddie Van Halen and long live Van Halen!!
Today we forgo our standard turntable round table format in favor of discussing the enormous impact of Eddie Van Halen. Eddie was a true innovator, creating a style of guitar playing that influenced a multitude of artists for generations to come. The news of his unfortunate passing created a shockwave around the world as everyone came to grips with losing a legend. The outpouring of support and tributes on social media has been unlike anything we’ve seen in recent memory. Just take a moment to read some of these tributes and you realize that Eddie was not only revered and respected as an artist, he was universally loved. Is it possible that we’ve finally found a consensus? It shouldn’t take tragedies like this to bring us together, yet here we are: united. Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen. Your memory will live on in our hearts and your music leaves a permanent imprint on the world. In celebration of the most eminent release of Bill & Ted Face The Music, forming the most heinous of trilogies, we hit the Highway to Hell (shredding noises) with BILL & TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY! Starring the most radical Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, not to mention George Carlin and totally bodacious Pam Grier, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey is like the Van Halen II, except if Running With The Devil from Van Halen I were on it. We were totally on board with the Bill & Ted utopia when we were younger, but is it still righteous to our future selves?Listen here! Oh, You Ate One Too?What is The New Dad Rock? What is Dad Rock? No matter how you define it, dads (and practically everyone else) love Van Halen. Their songs get the party started and it's almost impossible not to smile when listening to their music. Especially the David Lee Roth era. This week, Keith and Steve are joined by a special guest to discuss Van Halen's place in The New Dad Rock pantheon and whether Sammy Hagar measures up to Diamond Dave. You're not going to want to miss this one.If you're taking whiskey to the party tonight and looking for somebody to squeeze, don't get uptight just listen to these:"I'm the One" and "Little Dreamer" from Van Halen"Dance the Night Away" and "Beautiful Girls" from Van Halen II "Fools," "Romeo Delight" and "Could This Be Magic" from Women and Children First"Mean Street," "Push Comes to Shove" and "Sunday Afternoon in the Park" from Fair Warning "Your Love is Driving Me Crazy" from Three Lock Box (Sammy Hagar)"Hang 'em High" and "Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now)" from Diver Down"1984" and "Girl Gone Bad" from 1984"I Can't Drive 55" from V.O.A. Young Southpaw chats to Matt & Mauro from the UK ‘Ronettes Punk’ band The Speedways about their new album Radio Sounds, what Eddie Van Halen being in KISS would’ve been like, Billy Ocean/ABBA covers albums, Hanoi Rocks, and much more. Check them out at https://thespeedways.bandcamp.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/JustAnotherRegularSummer Young Southpaw: That’s all my questions. Anything else you wanna add? Mauro: There wasn’t much Van Halen in this chat. Matt: No, there wasn’t much Van Halen. YS: Happy to talk about Van Halen. What’s your favourite Van Halen album? Matt: The first one. Cause when I first started playing guitar I loved Eddie Van Halen but I could never play that kind of stuff. But I can play ‘Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love’, with the phaser pedal on it, I can just about get through that. And ‘Runnin’ With The Devil’ I can play that as well. ‘Unchained’, that’s on Fair Warning? YS: Greatest rock song of all time, in my opinion. Matt: I can play that as well. YS: On the 1982 tour they opened with ‘Unchained’ and went into ‘Romeo Delight’ and I think that’s all you ever need ever. [NOTE: It’s actually the other way around, but THE POINT STILL STANDS!] Two of the greatest rock n’ roll songs. And then they always had that third song would be a drum solo, as if two songs were really too taxing to be on stage for and the three of them needed a break. Mauro: Immediately, yeah Matt: I only saw them one time, with Sammy, obviously. At the Birmingham NEC in the UK. I just wanted to see Eddie play, really. I remember being down the front and when he played ‘Eruption’ and everything, that was what I wanted to see. I just wanted to see him play the guitar, just watch him play. Just astonishing, he’s so good. YS: I saw them on the last reunion tour and it seemed like his guitar solo was even faster. Like, you woudn’t think that was even possible. Matt: Yeah, fantastic. Such a great band. Mauro: I’d probably have pick II acutally. I’m one of the Van Halen II club, I reckon. ‘Light Up The Sky’, ‘D.O.A.’, those ones... YS: Oh yeah. ‘Somebody Get Me A Doctor’. Mauro: Yeah. It’s all great. ‘Dance The Night Away’ of course. That’s the closest Van Halen get to power pop, you could argue. Aug Stone augstone.comYoung Southpaw
Episode 2 covers the 1979 sophomore album Van Halen II by rockers Van Halen. Mark, Kevin, Alex, and Chris take you on a historical journey surrounding the album as well as share our favorites and not-so favorites from the album. We go on a deep dive track-by-track listen of this monumental album as well as share personal stories of discovering Van Halen II.
Pat plays songs curated by the listeners to form a list of the Top 15 favorite tunes by Van Halen! Spoiler alert there are way more than 15 songs on this episodes.
As Diamond Dave would say, "I heard you missed us - we're back!" Back with David Lee Roth, Michael Anthony, and Alex and Eddie Van Halen, this time delving into their second studio album, conveniently entitled Van Halen II. Hot on the heels of their debut album released less than a year prior, Van Halen hit the studios for this second album a week after completing their world tour, and wrapped it up within a week. The big hit from this album was "Dance the Night Away," Van Halen's first top 20 hit, and inspired by Fleetwood Mac.The album notes had a shout-out to the Sheraton hotel in Madison, Wisconsin, which the band trashed the 7th floor while on tour.We hope you enjoy this fun and hard rocking second effort (and second podcast featuring the group) from Van Halen! You're No GoodThis is no Linda Ronstadt cover. Originally performed in 1963 by Dee Dee Warwick, this song was covered by a number of groups, most notably Linda Ronstadt in 1975. We like Van Halen's version just a wee bit better! Check out the dueling screams from Roth's voice and Eddie's guitar.D.O.A.A rocking deep cut - Dead Or Alive was the B-side from the single "Beautiful Girls." Roth tells a down and out story in a proto-rap style: Broken down and dirty, dressed in rags/from the day, my Mama told me boy, you pack your bags"Women In Love...The intro to this song features tap harmonics in the guitar solo leading into this original song. Eddie Van Halen said this song was "a tale about a guy losing a girl to another chick."Beautiful GirlsHere's the other big hit from the album (Dance the Night Away being the first). This is a fun, syncopated beach song: "She had a drink in her hand, she had her toes in the sand, and wooh! What a beautiful girl!" ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Theme from the Television Series “All In the Family”The final episode of "All In the Family" would air in April 1979.STAFF PICKS:"Roller” by April WineWayne's staff pick brings us Canadian rockers April Wine. With three guitars (a rhythm and two leads), this hit describes a woman at the high stakes tables in the casino. It retains that 70's hard rock feel. April Wine was often selected as a "warm-up band" for bigger acts.“Crazy Love” by PocoBruce takes the tempo down a bit with this biggest hit from the California country rock group Poco. This song was originally intended to be a song for the Cotton-Young band, but ABC Records had the group continue with the Poco name.“Blow Away” by George HarrisonBrian's staff pick features former Beatles guitarist George Harrison. This song was considered a disco song by Harrison, and he said that it was one of the simplest compositions he ever wrote. The song arose from - believe it or not - frustration over a leaky roof.“I Want You to Want Me” by Cheap TrickRob finishes off the staff picks a track that is identified by its live version much more than its studio cut. The studio version came out in 1977, but the live version dropped in April 1979, and Rob profiles the two. This is Cheap Trick's biggest hit. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:“Take It to the Top” by Dixie DregsWe wrap up this week's podcast with this prog rock group well known for their highly talented instrumental work.
This one was suggested to us by listener Connie. While we thank her profusely for allowing us to dive into the insanity of David Lee Roth, we also curse her for forcing us to listen to hours worth of Sammy Hagar’s intense screaming and red-rimmed sunglasses. Also, on this episode, Mike talks about how he managed to personally piss off a famous musician that we’ve covered on the podcast. We’re finally making a (bad) name for ourselves on this show.Closing track: “Hot for Teacher” from 1984 (1984)Check out our episode playlists on Spotify!https://open.spotify.com/user/motherpuncherincMike’s Picks:1984 (1984) — Best AlbumVan Halen II ( 1979) — Personal FavoriteVan Halen III (1998) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlex’s Picks: Van Halen (1978) — Best AlbumWomen and Children First (1980) — Personal FavoriteOU812 (1988) — Worst Album, Least FavoriteAlbums discussed this episode…Van Halen (1978)Van Halen II (1979)Women and Children First (1980)Fair Warning (1981)Diver Down (1982)1984 (1984)5150 (1986)OU812 (1988)For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991)Balance (1995)Van Halen III (1998)A Different Kind of Truth (2012)Follow Mike on Instagram @popejesseventura and Alex @motherpuncher

At a time, when metal was on the decline, these guys brought in your face riffs packed with heavy Texas groove! The Dallas boys, Diamond Darrell, or rather Dimebag Darrell who he affectionately became to be known, was a master shredder and his brother Vinnie Paul on pounding drums; along with Rex on a thumping bass and Phil Anselmo on some screaming (ass) vocals made up this band. They had many albums. some in the glam rock vein, full of KISS and Van Halen love. But it wasn't until the release of Cowboys from Hell in 1990, that they broke down the metal walls. They were able to cement their legacy with a few more great albums, before they went on hiatus and broke up in 2003, way too soon. Phil and his drugs, were pinned as the bad guy in the breakup. But he went on to front many other bands. On a side note: Phil along with his biographer Cory Mitchell, hosted the Housecore Horror Film Festival in Austin, Texas in 2014 and 2015, in which I was lucky to have been a part of. It was a fantastic blend of horror movies and metal! However, the event died along with Cory Mitchell when he had a heart attack loading out and died in the parking lot the morning after Danzig closed down the festival. But today we are honoring Dimebag as today is the 15 anniversary of his passing. Tragically, in 2004 in front of crowd in Columbus Ohio, Dimebag was shot point blank just after taking the stage in with his new band, Damageplan, that he had formed with his brother on drums. The gunman, the coward, was said to be distraught over the breakup of Pantera when got on stage and killed 3 people, before he too was gunned down by a fast acting police officer. His brother Vinnie Paul, carried on with the band, but he too passed away too soon, just last year. To start us off, is Shedding Skin off of Far Beyond Driven, which celebrated it's 25th Anniversary this year: That was Cemetery Gates off of CfH and before that was Hollow, the song that closed 1992's Vulgar Display of Power album. I was at the GNR reunion tour in Dallas a few years ago. The next day, friends and I make the pilgrimage to Dimebag's grave. Upon arriving at the cemetery gates and not knowing where to go next, we asked a landscaper, he immediately knew who we were looking for and replied "Dimebag aqui, Dimebag aqui", pointing to his gravestone. Gathered around the grave were many concert goers from the night before and many joints layed as an offering on his headstone. 6 feet deep lies the man, in a gifted KISS Kasket and with Eddie Van Halen's personal yellow-and-black-striped Charvel electric guitar from Van Halen II, Bumblebee. fitting, since Dimebag's last words on Earth were, "Van Halen!" moments before he was gun down. Somebody near us said that they ran into Vinnie Paul at the concert last night and shows us proof, a photo together on their cell phone. Pantera and the legend of these 2 men captivated us all. Here is Dime's solo from the song Floods" off of 1996's, The Great Southern Trendkill. Rest in Peace Abbott brothers! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tiny-curations-deep-dives/message
