Prayer transforms lives, but not always on our timeline. This episode dives deep into the tension between our expectations and God's perfect timing when we pray.Faith, as Hebrews reminds us, is "the essence of things hoped for and not yet seen." The waiting period between our prayers and God's answers isn't empty space – it's where faith grows strongest. When we align our requests with God's will as revealed in Scripture (1 John 5:14-15), we can "wait in expectation" (Psalm 5:3) rather than frustration.Tauren Wells captures this powerful truth in his song "When We Pray," declaring that "all the world starts changing when the church starts praying." The lyrics acknowledge human suffering while affirming that "strongholds start to break" and "prison walls start shaking" through prayer. This isn't wishful thinking but reflects the biblical reality that prayer connects us to God's unlimited power.Ready to transform your prayer life? Listen now, then check out the full Tauren Wells video using the link in our show notes. Remember – don't give up, don't let go, always hang on to truth and stay filled with faith. When We Pray, Miracles Happen (Jeremiah Castille) April 14, 2024 by Covenant Heirs
As we head into 2024, there are many things we could delve into as we prepare for what will surely be a tumultuous cultural moment. We could tackle geopolitics and the gospel, partisan tribalism and kingdom citizenship, evil and the Justice of God, etc. But there are a million podcasts, YouTube channels, and social media influencers talking and shouting about these things. Although these topics are important, there is something for the Jesus-follower that needs to come first: Prayer. There are many opinions and voices that matter, but for us, one voice should get most of our attention, intention, and submission, and that is the voice of God. When someone hears from God, they might say: ‘I had a prompting' or ‘The Holy Spirit gave me a nudge'. But how do you know whether that is God or just you? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram – lead pastor at Awakening Church in San Jose, California – will help us. As he wraps up his series, When We Pray, Ryan will talk about the still, small voice of God and how we can experience it today!
Most people talk about prayer like it is all about them speaking to God. Like, How long should I pray? What are the right words? But have you ever thought about what God might want to say to us? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram considers that thought as he picks up in his series When We Pray. Don't miss why listening to God is vital to deeper intimacy with Him.
Have you ever prayed, prayed, and prayed for something, and you were disappointed or even a bit mad that God didn't come through? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram speaks to that feeling as he picks up in his series When We Pray. Whether it's for a sick relative, a personal crisis, or a global tragedy, learn what to do when our prayers seem to go unanswered.
We've all had those unexpected phone calls, sudden revelations, or tragedies that cause us to cry out to God in desperation – “Please, please help!" But in this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram asks: what do we do when God seems to be silent to our frantic pleas? As we continue his series, When We Pray, Ryan will help us navigate the complex and painful subject of unanswered prayers.
Have you ever tried to have quiet time with God when suddenly your mind is flooded with everything you have to do that day? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram – lead pastor at Awakening Church in San Jose, California – reveals: you're not alone! As he continues his series, When We Pray, he talks about the vital habit of stillness and why we need to practice it daily amid this distracted world.
Do your prayers feel stale, ineffective, or even a bit passionless? Is your quiet time with God filled with constant distractions and random thoughts? In this message, guest teacher Ryan Ingram – lead pastor at Awakening Church in San Jose, California – reveals: you're not alone! As he continues his series, When We Pray, he'll teach us from Psalm 46 how to ‘be still' before God and share some tips to reignite the power of our prayers.
When you talk to God, do you feel like there's a secret pattern or rules to follow? Or that you have to pray for an ‘x' amount of time, or else God won't hear you? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram corrects those misconceptions as he picks up where he left off in his series When We Pray. Learn from Matthew chapter 6 how to ditch those scripted, hurried prayers and connect with God at a deeper level.
Prayer is often the most misunderstood, misused, and dismissed part of the average Christian's faith. But why? And how can we change that? In this program, guest teacher Ryan Ingram – lead pastor at Awakening Church in San Jose, California – kicks off his series, When We Pray. He'll emphasize the importance of prayer and how we can better prioritize it in our everyday lives.

Prayer can sometimes feel daunting. How do you pray? What do you pray for? Did God hear my prayer? Is he going to answer my prayer? Today we're going to look at God's invitation to pray vulnerably and honestly. We don't have to earn the right for God to hear us. And we don't have to pray the perfect prayer for him to answer us. Let's come before God boldly today as we learn to pray in faith. Our Scripture for today comes from Matthew 21:22, and today's worship is When We Pray by Tauren Wells. -- Being intentional about what we do with our time is a wonderful way to honor God as we begin this new year. When We Pray Reader: Jon Watson Date: 22nd November 2021 Time: Passage: Matthew 6:9 ------------------- I think prayer is one of the easiest things to speak or read about but one of the most difficult things to do faithfully and consistently. Do you find prayer difficult? Then if you do, you are in the company of Christians in every age who struggled with prayer and also who struggled in prayer. Prayer is actually a really precious gift which God has given to us. It is our opportunity to speak to God so I would encourage you to do this regularly. To help us to remember what prayer is here, is an easy way of remembering that. **P is for praise.** In prayer we are coming to speak to God, the Almighty who is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and who is gloriously holy and wonderfully gracious. This is the God to whom we pray. **R is for repentance.** When we come to pray we have to recognise how unlike God we really are — he is holy, we have sinned. So we need to repent of our sins and turn away from them. **A is for ask.** There are 3 main things we can ask God for (but you will think of many more). As for pardon for your sin and help to overcome it. As for God's blessing and help on all the people you love and care for, especially those who are ill or sad. Ask for friends not yet Christians to be converted **Y is for yield.** A W Tozer says: "To pray effectively we must want what God wants — that and that only is to pray in the will of God." We yield to the will of God so that his will, not ours, will be done.

7 THOUGHTS OF TREASURE TO PONDER ON. 1. NOTHING WILL CHANGE IF YOU DO NOTHING BECAUSE GOD THE FATHER AND JESUS FINISHED THE FIRST PART OF THEIR WORK FOR MANKIND AND ARE RESTING AND WAITING FOR US TO DO SOMETHING .Revelation 3:21). 2. GOD HAS GIVEN US HIS WORD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR US TO EFFECT CHANGES. GOD AND JESUS ARE IN HEAVEN BUT THE HOLY SPIRIT IS ON EARTH TO HELP US.Acts 10:38, Acts 20:32, John 14:16). 3. EVEN THOUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT IS HERE ON EARTH, HE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU WITHOUT AN INVITATION BECAUSE GOD GAVE THE EARTH TO MAN. Psalms 115:16). 4. WHEN WE PRAY, WE INVITE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO INTERVENE. JESUS PRAYED AND ALSO TAUGHT A PARABLE THAT MEN OUGHT ALWAYS TO PRAY AND NOT TO FAINT.Luke 18:1) 5. MAN HAS THE POWER TO STOP EVIL AND CORRUPTION ON EARTH. GOD HAS GIVEN US THE POWER, THE RIGHT AND THE PRIVILEGE. WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO EFFECT CHANGES THROUGH PRAYER. Acts 1:8). 6. GOD'S POWER TO SAVE, TO HEAL, TO LIBERATE AND CHANGE A MAN'S WICKED HEART TO A HEART OF LOVE IS THE GOSPEL. THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD FOR SALVATION. Romans 1:16). 7. THE GOSPEL IS THE ANSWER AND THE SOLUTION TO THE WORLD'S PROBLEMS. YOU CAN CHANGE THE DESTINY OF ANYONE THROUGH THE GOSPEL. IF YOU PREACH TO SOMEONE TODAY, YOU MIGHT JUST SAVE TODAY, SOMEONE THAT WOULD HAVE BECOME A PROBLEM TO THE WORLD IN THE FUTURE. IF WE SPREAD THE GOSPEL TO OUR TEENAGERS, YOUTHS TODAY, IT WIL CERTAINLY AFFECT THEIR CHOICES AND DESTINY TOMORROW.. AFFIRMATION. The Light of the glorious gospel of Christ is shinning in my path. I walk in the light of God's word. I walk in the light of my healings, I will walk in the light of my inheritance, blessings and prosperity in Christ. I walk in wisdom and I do not lack wisdom. I understand the word of God and I take my place to bring about peace and prosperity on earth. Thank you Lord for the revelation of your word. Amen. FURTHER QUOTES. "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.", 2 Corinthians 4:3 to 4).

ThinkSquad parents and kids, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Episode 6 of the CATAKIDS! Podcast is here, and we’re learning how to pray like Jesus. Listen to all the episodes and get your own copy of Catakids! right here. Jakob, Phia, Lukas and Jojo are back to answer just one question: QUESTION 26: WHAT DID JESUS TEACH US TO SAY, WHEN WE PRAY? The answer can be found in the Bible, in the Gospel According to Matthew, chapter 9, verses 9-13, which records the words of the Lord Jesus and says this: So when you pray, you should pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, we pray that your name will always be kept holy. We pray that your kingdom will come. We pray that what you want will be done, here on earth as it is in heaven. Give us the food we need for each day. Forgive the sins we have done, just as we have forgiven those who did wrong to us. And do not cause us to be tested; but save us from the Evil One.’ HOW WE PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER: Now we Settecases have taken this model prayer (which is often called the Lord’s Prayer, though I’ve sometimes heard it called the Disciples’ Prayer, because it was designed to teach the disciples how to pray), and we’ve slightly changed the wording. We did this to make it easier to remember (and sing, as you’ll hear in this episode). However, the substance is still exactly the same, just like Jesus taught us. Also, one more thing. You may notice that we add one more phrase at the end of the prayer: “For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever, amen.” So, where does that come from? It comes from this: in some older copies of the Bible, that phrase is right there in this passage. But in the oldest copies, it’s not there. So, while we are free to pray it (and our family does pray it), it may not have been included in what Jesus actually said—and that’s why most Bibles either don’t include it, or else they have a note next to that part, explaining why it’s so fascinating and mysterious. SHOULD I PRAY THE LORD’S PRAYER WORD FOR WORD? Now the thing about the Lord’s Prayer is this: you don’t have to pray it word for word. The Lord Jesus gave it to His people as a guide. It’s a great way to pray, and you definitely can pray it word for word. But if you want to, you can take each of the ideas in the prayer, and pray them to God using your own words. God really is a loving Father (so loving that He sent His Son to die—and rise from the dead!—to save us!), and He actually wants us to talk to Him. And if you remember Catakids! question 25, you know the answer to this question: “May we also talk to God?” “Yes, we talk to God by praying!” So, it’s now time to learn the Lord’s prayer and get praying! Let’s do this, Catakids style! SEND US FUN FACTS & COOL IDEAS! “Fun Facts with Jakob” & “Cool Idea with Phia” are back for Episode 6. If you (or your kids) have a fun fact about God’s amazing world, or a cool idea about how to get closer to God and know Him better, send them to us at thethink.institute@gmail.com (with the subject header: “FUN FACT” or “COOL IDEA”). TODAY’S QUESTION IS: What did Jesus teach us to say, when we pray? Our Father in heaven, your name is to be honored. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth just as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us when we’re naughty, just as we forgive others for being naughty to us. Lead us not into temptation, but rescue us from evil. More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music
What happens when God's people unite in prayer? Well, I suppose it depends. It depends on their motives, on whether they are surrendered to God's will, and ultimately on what they are asking for. Tauren Well's song, "When We Pray," inspired me to sit in Acts 3 and 4 this week to see what the early church prayed for. I love the quote at the beginning of the music video, "If God answered the prayers you have been praying, would it change anyone else's world but your own?" Don’t miss the context as you examine the unified prayer of these believers. Ponder what they did NOT ask for as much as you ponder what they did. Grab a small group of believers and pray! Write down your observations and follow the cross reference to Psalm 2 — there is more to observe there, too!
