Our guest is Jan Zebrak. The Zebraks are back. In the 1980s and 90s they focused on trying to get safe bicycle lanes in Reno, supported by the bike shops. But the effort slowly dwindled. Now, after a bicyclist was hit by a car on Lakeside Drive south of Windy Hill, they are trying to get a protected bike path in the area. Currently, the popular bike route doesn't even have a shoulder. Now, it is about to get even more dangerous with more housing developments planned in the area. You can go to BuildABetterBikeNetwork.com to read about it and send the letter with just a click of the mouse to local government.Jan Zebrak and her community on Lakeside Drive South of Windy Hill say the area is about to get more dangerous for cyclists. The road doesn't have any bike lanes or even a shoulder for pedestrians. Recently a cyclist was hit and went to the hospital. They would like people in Reno to send a letter to local officials asking for a protected bike path on Lakeside Drive. Use BuildABetterBikeNetwork.com to easily send that letter. There is a form letter on the site you can use. Again, that is BuildABetterBikeNetwork.com

David, a Wimmera Football product, made his way to the Essendon Bombers in the mid 80's, making his senior debut in 1986. David spent 10 years at Windy Hill, playing 58 games in that time and kicking 36 goals. In this chat, David talks about making his way to Essendon, Essendon's dominant early 90s period, trying to make his way into the team, being omitted for the 1993 Grand Final team, his injuries along with sharing his experiences in the coaches' box at AFL and TAC Cup level. Growing up in Brazil, Marcelo was brought up with a lot of discipline when it came to his own tennis training and development. His hope is to instill that same work ethic in the juniors he works with at Windy Hill. Associate music director Brian Parks describes the instrument as unique and complex, comparing it to a spaceship. The inaugural concert will feature classic pieces alongside more contemporary tunes, aiming to make the organ accessible to all. The procurement of the organ involved extensive collaboration and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring its longevity. Parks emphasizes the art and science of maintaining the organ, highlighting the need for precise climate control to preserve its 3,300 pipes. Despite its challenges, Parks finds immense joy in playing the organ, conveying deep emotion through its music. Here's How A packed meeting at the South Cobb Regional Library in Mableton introduced 19 commissions, authorities, and boards to the public, offering opportunities for community involvement. Mayor Michael Owens emphasized the volunteer-run nature of these groups, which cover a range of areas from planning and public arts to housing and cultural affairs. Residents were encouraged to reach out to their local council members to express interest in joining these boards. Some notable boards include those for planning, special events, public arts, and housing. Additionally, quasi-judicial boards like the ethics, alcohol review, and zoning appeals boards were introduced, along with committees for long-term planning, downtown development, citywide development, and tourism promotion. Interested individuals can find more information on the city's website and contact their council members for further guidance. STORY 7: High Court Decision Raises Questions Around Property Rights and Competition in Healthcare The Georgia Supreme Court revisited a dispute between Wellstar Windy Hill and Emory University Hospital Smyrna, both serving Cobb County, over Windy Hill's attempt to switch from long-term to short-term care. Emory contested this, arguing it violated Windy Hill's certificate of need. The case highlights conflicts over healthcare regulations and property rights. Windy Hill argues it's exempt due to its establishment predating the certificate of need laws. The Supreme Court's decision could impact future healthcare regulation disputes. This case underscores broader debates about certificate of need laws, with some advocating for repeal to foster competition while others argue it safeguards patient care. The Cold Case of Debbie Lynn Randall Finally Solved After 50 Years

For five long decades, the tragic tale of Debbie Lynn Randall's brutal rape and murder has haunted the Marietta community of Georgia. On that ill-fated day in mid-January 1972, a family was shattered and a community forever scarred. The nine-year-old disappeared, leading thousands to rally together, united in their determination to find her. Sixteen days later, their worst fears were realized when Debbie's raped and strangled body was discovered near Windy Hill and Powers Ferry Road intersection. Fast forward to 2022, the wheels of justice began turning once more, when a piece of cloth recovered from the crime scene was reanalyzed due to increased funding for DNA testing. The esteemed DNA Labs International carried out meticulous testing, and against all odds, a potential match for the killer emerged. The identified suspect was William Rose, a man who remarkably evaded police radar during the initial investigations. But fate had another twist in store; William Rose, who was a mere 24 years old at the time of Debbie's murder, took his own life in 1974, just two years after committing the heinous act. If alive today, he would be around 75. Tragically, Debbie's parents never lived to see this breakthrough. Her mother succumbed to leukemia in 2018, and her father passed away in the subsequent year. But Melvin Randall, Debbie's tenacious brother, was present at the news conference to confront the dark past and hopefully find some closure. "My family appreciates everything they've done - all the time and the effort to bring closure," an emotional Mr. Randall stated. His poignant words echoed the pain of countless families who've been robbed of their loved ones, "I wish my mother was here, but I know she knows in heaven that it's finally over." That fateful evening, Debbie had accompanied her stepfather to the laundromat. However, when her mother arrived around 8:30 pm, worried over her prolonged absence, the young girl was nowhere to be found. All that remained was spilled laundry detergent, and reports of a dark pickup truck speeding away. Ron Alter, a dedicated cold case investigator with the district attorney's office, delved deep into Rose's past. It emerged that while he didn't reside in Marietta, Rose likely had family connections there. "If he drove by, I'm sure he saw her. I believe that was a crime of opportunity. He saw her by herself and abducted her," speculated Mr. Alter. With prior alcohol-related arrests, the reason behind Rose's subsequent suicide remains a point of debate. According to Mr. Alter, Rose might have been overwhelmed by guilt or the looming threat of incarceration. The resolution of this cold case shines a light on the relentless advances in forensic technology. Cobb County District Attorney Flynn Broady praised these developments, emphasizing, "It may take us some time, but with the new technologies emerging every day, we're committed to solving our cold cases, ensuring justice is served." For Melvin Randall, this resolution, while bringing clarity, also offers a chance at personal healing. Overwhelmed but resilient, he revealed his journey towards forgiveness. "I learned over the years that it does you no good to hate or hold grudges." The story of Debbie Lynn Randall serves as a poignant reminder: time might pass, but the quest for justice never truly fades. With technology's ever-advancing hand and the perseverance of those committed to the truth, hope remains alive for countless unsolved cases worldwide.
