Here's an actual e-mail from The Untitled Beatles Podcast to M.P.L., sent on The Fifth of November, 2023: Hi Sir Paul or Freda! We are the Untitled Beatles Podcast, America's foremost discussion of profound, focused Beatles scholarship. With the holidays around the corner (AMERICAN ONES, LIKE CHRISTMAS! USA! USA! USA!) we wanted to represent all Beatles and Macca fans with this wish list for 2024: First off, please, absolutely do not deliver long-delayed remasters of “London Town” and “Back To The Egg”. Who needs' em! The most “recent” ones from 1993, with their harsh compression and lack of any meaningful bonus tracks, have held up JUST GREAT. But, please do make us buy “Band On The Run” again! Only this time, change things up. Maybe put the songs in a different order? Take away all of the beautiful arrangements that are baked into this album's legacy? Just one thing: please, do not include “Helen Wheels”. Feel me, holmes? We at the UBP - the home of Producer Casey's exclusive re-mix of your old band's most famous single, “The Movie Medley”, as you're well aware from your cruel lawsuit - guarantee that even the most skeptical fan will find this to be a stunning reissue we never knew we needed. Your skilled team can give this album an intimacy and rawness that somehow elevates the these already great songs. What do you think? Are you in? And while we have a minute with you Sir Paul, or Freda:
Band On The Run from Paul McCartney and Wings has just turned 50! A new anniversary edition of the album has been released featuring an uderdubbed version of the album. RadioBypass is honored to join in the celebration of this great album! Find out from Paul McCartney, the late Denny Laine, Dustin Hoffman, James Coburn, engineer Geoff Emerick, and arranger Tony Viscontii about the many stories that surrounded the recording and release of an all-time rock classic. Join us for the 50th anniversary celebration of Paul McCarney and Wings - Band On The Run: All Access!
Live from Meigs Field, it's the final Untitled Beatles Podcast! Of 2023, that is! Unless you know something we don't? What is you [sic], a cop? If so, are you as effortlessly bouncy as the cop in "Hot Cop", the Village People's #2 Billboard Disco Charts smash from '78? #HotCop Anyhoo, it's onto Side 2, as we continue to deep dish “Band On The Run”, Paul's most beloved album that doesn't feature the word “Oratorio”. And because Tony, T.J., Producer Casey, and Sir Paul are all obviously Americans, we'll consider the US version that includes the powerhouse single, “Helen Wheels”, not to mention much more memorable Macca music. Plus, we'll examine this album's rough beginning in Lagos and unmatched legacy within Paul's recorded catalog, the celebrated cover and packaging, and also:
Many Macca fans would argue that Paul McCartney's best post-Beatles album is the German 12” Maxi-Single of “All My Trials”. (#WixTrumpetSolo) But others just might suggest that it's 1973's still-beloved landmark, “Band On The Run”. This week, Tony & T.J. celebrate 50 years of this true (and, maybe, ultimate) Macca classic with a deep dish on Side 1, which features some of Paul's most celebrated, iconic mega-hits. Along this Journey (#LyingBesideU), the Soft Beatle Boyz also ask:
This week on Classic Vinyl Podcast, Justin and Tyler review Paul McCartney and Wings 3rd studio album Band on the Run on the 50th anniversary of its release. Give it a listen and let us know how you rate it. Support our podcast and buy us a beer https://www.buymeacoffee.com/classicvinylpod

This episode of Big Blend Radio features Joshua Corum, lead singer and songwriter of alternative prog rock ensemble Head With Wings. Hear about the start of the band, their innovative music and videos, and new EP "Comfort in Illusion." The three-track collection draws the listener into the isolated, agonizing, and momentarily euphoric struggle for self-actualization amidst the stifling frame of an increasingly unfamiliar world. The band's first output since 2018's critically-acclaimed debut, “From Worry to Shame,” presents a concise summation of the group's collective growth as artists and individuals. It dives deeper into the quartet's textural and emotive sound exploration with a timely personal narrative of self-discovery and the anxiety of change. In the summer of 73, known vegetarian and former professional bassist, Paul McCartney and wife Linda (henceforth known as McCartney squared) booked studio time in Lagos, Nigeria for the recording of Wings' third album. Mere days before recording was to take place, both the drummer and guitarist yelled "Wings suuuuuccckkks" and quit the band. With no time to hire new lackeys, McCartney squared decided they would do it themselves. Gather round, children, to hear this tale of woe Rich people bitching about studio conditions in a war-torn country. Knife-point robbery of baubles, riches, and the lesser valuable lyrics/demos. Potential heatstroke. Ginger Baker playing a can full of gravel on Picasso's Last Words (Drink To Me). And so much more... Jon, Ben, Solange, Rob & Birch discuss McCartney's best output since The Beatles imploded.

Beatles nerds rejoice again, as synth queen Seja Vogel joins me to delve into the album that brought Paul McCartney back to the toppermost of the poppermost in 1973, 'Band on the Run'. We talk about Paul’s uneven solo trajectory after the Beatles breakup, the volatile story of how the album was made in Lagos (band members quitting, stolen demo tapes, Fela Kuti, etc), Paul’s drumming, the use of synths on the record, covering Let Me Roll It, how McCartney has become the ambassador to Beatledom, our experiences seeing Paul live, our love for Nineteen Hundred and Eight-Five and Mrs Vanderbilt and the song we think should’ve been left off the album.

Experimental musician and comedian Reggie Watts holds Wings in higher regard than frontman Paul McCartney's earlier contributions to rock history, using the group's 1973 album Band On The Run as a prime example of their superiority. 13 kwietnia 1974 roku album Paula McCartneya i grupy Wings "Band on the run" wspiął się na pierwsze miejsce zestawień w USA.
[GROUP PICK] Paul McCartney is one of those figures in music that has a long legacy and countless connections to other prominent musicians through the decades. Being caught up in the British invasion and Beatlemania, he was one of the first musicians to earn worldwide celebrity (along with his other lads from Liverpool) that was immediate and truly fanatical. He rode this wave of popularity right on through The Beatles' almost two decades of nonstop hits, but eventually the ride came to a halt. For Paul (as well as John and Ringo), the legacy of The Beatles became a sort of albatross around his neck. His first several solo albums, although topping the charts upon release, were not getting great reviews by the music critics of the time. With the formation of Wings, which included the addition of Denny Laine from The Moody Blues, they continued to face criticism, some about his inclusion of his wife, Linda, in the band, and some bashing Paul's post-Beatles songwriting abilities, but that all changed when Paul re-united with Beatles' producer/arranger George Martin in 1972 for the big and brash “Live and Let Die” for the James Bond film of the same name. It kind of brought back some of that Beatles style that the critics were aching for and got Paul in the headspace for him, Linda, and Laine to create Wings first truly beloved and critically appreciated album, Band on the Run. It harkens back to some of the greatest moments in The Beatles' discography, as well as establishing his new sound moving forward. This album earned Paul back his respect in the eyes of critics and ensured that he would continue to be a force in the music industry, and it doesn't disappoint... [BRAD's PICK] Hip Hop super-duo Run the Jewels are no strangers to defying conventions in the music industry. Killer Mike had been putting out politically conscious rap in Atlanta for a little over a decade, befriending Big Boi and guesting on a few Outkast tracks, and even one for Jay-Z. All of this and his various random appearances on Adult Swim show that Killer Mike was always a climbing star, but in his mid-30s he met someone that was also on his way to the top. El-P, also in his mid-30s, had made a name for himself in the underground hip hop scene by not giving a fuck and putting out well produced music. Hailing from Brooklyn, he helped launch Aesop Rock's career with his record label, Definitive Jux, continuing to put out great hip hop, such as Mr. Lif & Cage until it went on hiatus in 2010. However, in 2011, the stars aligned and Killer Mike and El P were introduced (famously by Adult Swim's Jason DeMarco) and they collaborated for the first time to create Killer Mike's epic album "R.A.P. Music" in 2012. And then, for some reason, these two men at the top of their careers decide to do something crazy... They combine forces and create Run The Jewels, gaining more commercial success in the last 7 years than either of them probably imagined it would. With RTJ4 on the horizon, being produced by the legendary Rick Ruben, I thought it might be nice to revisit the inception of the whole Run the Jewels concept, and the first album does just that. Join me (Brad), Dave, and Jon, as we enter into some of the deeper issues being discussed with our local hip hop expert (and my brother) Kevin!
