Today on Part Two of our conversation about silent film stars Harold Lloyd and Mildred Davis on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we continue our conversation with Suzanne Lloyd, their granddaughter who was raised as their daughter. Last week we laid the groundwork on the life and legacy of one of the silent era's greatest comedians. This week, we discuss the life Suzanne led in the family's Green Acres 16 acre estate in Benedict Canyon. Harold seemed to have a way with money and he indulged all his passions with abandon. Although retired when Suzanne was growing up, Harold remained very active in his passions. Be it photography, the Shriners hospital, the estate itself or even his passion for bowling with Howard Hughes, we get into it all. Topics discussed in this episode include: Harold's passion for Stereo, Rick Nelson, TV director Richard Correll, Debbie Reynolds, the Blacklist, Paul McCartney & Wings, Disneyland, the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Roddy McDowell, Harmon Kardon audio and more. Along the way we discuss 3-D photography, pipe organs and an almost ridiculous obsession with Christmas and Christmas trees you have to hear to believe. But we get into it, oh yes we do! We pick up our conversation with Suzanne mid-interview as we compare Ernie Kovacs to Harold Lloyd on this episode, of this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast. Everyone has a story. Enjoy.

2Legs is back! This week we take a bite out of a club Sandwich! Original Wings Fun Club Member expert Dale Pantz joins us to give us the backstory on 'Club Sandwich' which was the official Paul McCartney/Wings fan club newsletter which officially ran from 1977 to 1998. We learn about the club's very much home- made origins all the way up to the penultimate issue dedicated to Linda in 1998. Dale informs us who the key players were during the early days at MPL (there was an unofficial fan club pre-1977). We also learn about the involvement of Geoff Baker and Mark Lewisohn's contributions in the ensuing decades to the publication. Just in time for Thanksgiving, a heartwarming tale of fleet-footed deliverers of Native American corn, it's The Maize Runne—I'm being told that that's incorrect, and what we actually read was derivative semi-hit The Maze Runner, which doesn't really have anything to do with Thanksgiving. But we are thankful we only had to read it once. Also, it is pretty corny. And filled with turkeys. Stuffed to the brim with moments like "what Thomas felt was an inevitable barf," and "despite the terrible crappyness of it all, Chuck smiled," this one's a veritable cornucopia of...uh...well, there's a lot of maze running, anyway. Well, a fair amount. More maze running than most books, that's for sure. You'll need your running shoes, and your best underpants for a day of fast moving, and your graph paper (for mapping), so if you dare, and if you're swift enough, head for the Griever Hole and see if you can keep up with ... The Maze Runner. NOTE: From now moving forward, we will be using bespoke little pieces of music of our own creation for our segment breaks instead of popular (and unpopular) tunes from other artists. There are many reasons for this, but most of them revolve around copyright law, and a general feeling of skeeziness about using other peoples' work without explicit permission to do so. Don't worry, though, we'll still provide a "suggested soundtrack" for you to listen to while you do absolutely anything but read this book. Recommendations: Kate Morton, The Clockmaker's Daughter Marissa Brostoff, "Missing Time" Suggested Music: "Wicked" by Korn "Run Like Hell" by Pink Floyd "Maybe I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney & Wings

We also take the opportunity to discuss some of the less commonly available and unreleased 4.0 mixes from "back in the day".
A British rock giant and an acclaimed and respected member of New York's acting community walk into a recording studio ... and produce one of 2017's strongest and most compelling albums. This odd couple consists of multi-instrumentalist Ian McDonald, a founding member of both King Crimson and Foreigner, and guitarist and lead vocalist Ted Zurkowski, co-founder of New York's celebrated Shakespeare ensemble, Frog & Peach, and a long-time member of the world-famous Actors Studio. Together, this unlikely new songwriting team conjured the album Bad Old World under the banner of their quartet, HONEY WEST. Bad Old World is filled with memorable melodies and clever and sophisticated lyrics served on a bed of guitar-driven rock 'n' roll played by top-shelf musicians, including drummer Steve Holley, whose credits include Paul McCartney & Wings and many others, and McDonald's son, Maxwell McDonald, on bass. The album also boasts a guest appearance by Graham Maby (Joe Jackson, They Might Be Giants) on bass ("Brand New Car," "California," "A Girl Called Life"). While it's a modern sound stamped by Ian McDonald's world-class musicianship and production, it also bears an instant familiarity, thanks to a sonic blueprint recalling such Brit-rock titans as The Move and Mott the Hoople. HONEY WEST - named in honor and celebration of the proto-feminist 1960s cult TV spy series starring the ever-alluring Anne Francis - was already up and running when the two came together. For McDonald, discovering the scope and breadth of Zurkowski's talents was the catalyst for wanting to create a musical partnership. Make sure to catch Honey West on their new tour! http://www.honeywestmusic.com/

Brand new tracks. So fresh some aren't released until next month. I'm completely in love with every single one. This is bliss to my ears and so cool it almost hurts! Paul McCartney/Wings, Womack & Womack, Peven Everett, Doobie Brothers & Rudimental to name a few. It's good to be alive in 2016! Enjoy this one with a good glass of something special.

This week brings part three of our visit with Dr. Ken Womack (dean of the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University in New Jersey), closing out this series. The main topic this week is the future of Beatles releases, particularly in comparison to the overwhelming output from "his Bob-ness." Why did so many fans have mixed feelings about the "Eight Days a Week" film? Is there justification for the even larger percentage that are downright hostile toward the "new" edition of "Hollywod Bowl"? Given those issues, is there a way to satisfy fans of all ages (boomers, GenX and millenials), or will there always be a Generation Gap for Beatles fans. Tune in and find out our opinion!

Part 2 of our look at the "Pure McCartney" compilation. It is Coming Up (dig that Peter Gunn theme!) in a couple of weeks, and we will soon know how well the promotional machine does its job. Will Stuart Bell have some exciting tidbits about Paul playing the tunes loudly? Will Nancy admit which is her favorite (beyond "My Valentine"?) Currently, I guess Only Mama Knows, but soon enough we all will!
What's "New" in the world of Paul McCartney? A compilation from Sir Macca covering his career from 1970 to the present day. He envisions it as a collection for a long car journey, or for playing at a party. Do we agree? This week and next we will discuss that very question. Download, listen, and repeat!
