L (@nocturnical), Mel (@Heda_Mel), & Al (@maybmockingbird) talk about the premiere of AMC+'s second series in Anne Rice's Immortal Universe based on the much more chaotic & challenging to adapt Mayfair Chronicles book series. The characters are barely recognizable & a dude casually takes his dick out for a piss during a business conversation but so far we are pro-Cyprien & pro-yeeting Michael Curry into the sun. A Discovery of Witches - Season 3, Episode 5Description: Here we go! It's about to go down after this episode, because all of the pieces are in place for a grand standoff between the congregation and the Bishop-Clairmonts. Diana recruits Agatha as an ally, the babies have a very public christening, Baldwin reluctantly grants Matthew control of his family by approving the scion, Gerbert is making his moves in order to be head vamp in charge, and Benjamin is on the move, sending signals to Matthew; could that indicate a father/son face-off is imminent? A Discovery of Witches - Season 3, Episode 4Welcome to this "bridge" episode! This episode gives us a glimpse into the search for the pages of Ashmole 782. We watch Sarah, Agatha, Gallowglass, Miriam, Phoebe, and Fernando all offer their varying gifts to help Diana and Matthew get to end game. In the meantime (on the other side of this goal), are Gerbert, Satu, Benjamin and Peter doing their own independent plotting -- their goals are clear: destroy the de Clermonts/conquer Diana/get more power. We also meet TJ Weston, and finally witness what a daemon on the down-slide looks like. A Discovery of Witches - Season 3, Episode 2Description: Father Hubbard is given an ultimatum from his sire, Benjamin -- which leads him to desperate measures; go to Matthew to handle this problem, because he is the "break-in-case-of-emergency" option! The problem? Jack Blackfriers. Yes! He's back! He's a vampire (ooooh...). He wanted to stay alive in hopes to meet Diana and Matthew once again (awwww...). He's got blood rage (eeeeek!)Meanwhile, Christopher Roberts and his "annoying" sidekick, Miriam need more data and more researchers. The data exists -- in New Orleans. The researchers are also available; a bunch of Chris's teen-aged students. Will Matthew agree? Will Jack be OK? Will all of this be resolved in time for babies to arrive? Season 3, Episode 1 of A Discovery of WitchesDescription: We open up the beginning of the end of this story with Matthew and Diana's return. A lot has happened since they stepped into the unknown! Emily's death, the birth of Nathanial and Sophie's baby, accusations at the congregation, Marcus has a mate, Peter Knox's exit from the congregation, and (pregnant pause...) the VAMPIRE MURDERS! We find out who Mr. Fuchs actually is, and it seems bloodrage is all the rage once again. What's the answer? A cure for bloodrage, and maybe even a revolution. But revolutions are not just made. They start with an idea somewhere. Enter Gallowglass with a wee little suggestion to the story's revolutionary, Marcus.More:*Email: DaemonsDiscuss@gmail.com*Voice message: http://Speakpipe.com/DaemonsDiscuss, or call us (US number/carrier rates apply): 1 (360) 519-7836*Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DaemonsDiscuss Twitter: https://twitter.com/DaemonsDiscuss Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/daemonsdiscuss/*Podcast home page: http://DaemonsDiscuss.com*Main page: http://www.DaemonsDomain.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
There are book purists and TV show purists and sometimes, let's face it, the twain never shall meet...and that may just be a good thing. But as A Discovery of Witches fans who love Deborah Harkness' books for some reasons and the TV adaptation of A Discovery of Witches for others, as a trio we generally do a dance in and around both. Nikki saw a sticker in a car window recently that got us thinking. The sticker read, “The Book was Better,” which basically implied that no screen adaptation ever in the history of the world could possibly be better than the book it was based on. We don't agree with that sentiment generally but do understand where it comes from. Anyway with this in mind, here is our first podcast on the A Discovery of Witches Season 2 adaptation. In this one we talk about alllllll the things we loved (or at least a lot of them). In our next podcast, we'll tackle some choices that had us less enthralled. It is not a perfect world after all. We hope you enjoy this and do let us know what you think. What were your favorite moments in Season 2? And if you haven't checked out our weekly minute-by-minute recap of each episode of A Discovery of Witches Season 2 adaptation, well what are you waiting for? Housekeeping details: This podcast is labeled explicit because we sometimes swear and we're going to talk about sex because, well, there's sex in the books. So that's why we gave it the explicit rating. You've now been officially warned.
Join us as we talk through our reactions to Season 2 of the TV adaptation of A Discovery of Witches. Buckle your seat belts, because we have opinions.
At just under 90 minutes, we managed to pack a lot into this episode! After an absurd number of outtakes, we kick off the episode talking about other podcasts we're listening to. In news, we cover the new Sony/Netflix "pay one window" deal; Into the Spider-Verse 2 casting rumors; Chris Terrio's comments about Whedon's Justice League; and the slate of films Paramount has pushed back. Then we dive into the centuries sprawling second season of A Discovery of Witches before expressing our disappointment in Godzilla vs Kong. Be sure to let us know what you think! Tracklist: 1:10 - What other podcasts we're listening to 3:23 - Netflix and Sony sign new exclusive deal where Sony's films will hit Netflix immediately after theatrical release and home video release 8:20 - Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 rumored to be bringing in 90s cartoon Spidey 10:42 - Chris Terrio, screenwriter for Justice League, speaks out about how he wished he could have had his name removed from the theatrical version 17:39 - Paramount moves 10 films, pushing nearly all of them back even further 25:31 - A Discovery of Witches Season 2 review 59:27 - Godzilla vs Kong review 1:22:18 - Mark's Recommendation: Geiger #1 from Image Comics 1:24:16 - Jasmin's Recommendation: Two Moons from Image Comics You can follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

S2E10Jean calls this episode a prologue to Season 3, and it is, but it does manage to tie up Season 2 sufficiently enough for us. We say goodbye to Goody, the coven, Susanna, Father Hubbard, Pierre, Françoise, Jack (!), and Gallowglass in 1591. AND there is the "Hello/Goodbye" to Diana's Dad, Stephen Proctor!Meanwhile, we are getting a glimpse of what the couple will be greeted with when they return to their modern lives - Ysabeau, Marcus, Miriam, Sarah, Emily, Nathaniel, Sophie, Agatha, and Phoebe examine the problems they are facing, and ponder possible solutions going forward. Gerbert and Domenico are fighting for their own power in destructive ways. Peter (we have a few choice words to say about him) is planning a solo raid on Sept-Tours. Satu -- well, she offered her help. It's not her fault that Peter is too stubborn to accept it! Come to the good side, Satu! And then there is Herr Fuchs ... aka Benjamin (!!!)This episode runs long because we had a lot to discuss in the Spoiler Zone. Those of you who enter it, you'll understand why! Thanks to all of our NEW Patrons for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy.Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E10Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E9Where shall we begin? Let's start at the end: Heart vein! Kit and Louisa's botched revenge! Queen Elizabeth I! Walter Raleigh shows himself to be useless! A house raid! Meeting a weaver's familiar! William Cecil (Lord Burghley) is an an a$$hole! Kit tests Matthew's patience! A baby?!! Is Goody is on death's door?! Matthew puts his foot down! Ashmole 782! Needless to say, many events occurred in this episode, and putting a neat synopsis together was a little hard this time around. No worries, we break it down further in The Spoiler Zone (for those who don't care about book spoilers), as this TV episode diverges from the book quite a bit! Thanks to Aimee Sund for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy.Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E9Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E8Diana studies the "Book of Death" with vigor, but she's not getting the answers she wants, and as a result, we aren't getting a lot of information either! So, let's go back to the future to try to get some news from the home-front.Emily is still calling up the dead, Sarah busts her, and is rather pissed about it. Ysabeau scraps some more with Gerbert, while him and Peter are still scheming to rule the world. Baldwin and Marcus can't see eye-to-eye, so Marcus goes one way, Baldwin seemingly goes another! Phoebe decides Marcus' story is worth knowing, so we get to observe a proper courtship! And to top it all, Margaret decides to join us on this earth, and with that, the attention of the Congregation becomes an issue. *INTRIGUE!*Thanks to Jennifer Wood for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy...Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E8Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E7After departing France, Sept-Tours, and Philippe de Clermont, we feel road-weary -- but the initial reason for this trip was to go to Bohemia and retrieve Edward Kelley and Ashmole 782. The Queen DID give her orders, so off we go.We are met with a ruler who encompasses all of the deadly sins, Emperor Rudolf II. The machinations involved to soothe his cravings and get what Diana and Matthew need are draining, but our star-crossed lovers seem to believe it's worth it. Is it? Maybe. Probably. Anyway, that's what episode 7 of A Discovery of Witches is about, and our episode 7 review attempts to slog through all of the troublesome trials and tribulations with the Bishop-Clairmonts.Thanks to Kristen Shuck for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy...Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E7Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E6Philippe de Clermont doesn't suffer fools lightly. Right now, he's got a couple of fools to deal with in his own house: Diana and Matthew ... yeah, we said it! We play the empathy game, put ourselves in Philippe's shoes, and see that these two star-crossed lovers are gonna make a mess if they don't alter their course soon! Like a weaver, Philippe's got a whole bunch of knots to tie. Diana's loyalty: check. An epic sword fight to lower the temperature: check. Matthew dealing with his blood rage: check. A witch added as an official part of the family: check. A wedding: check. A party? CHECK! Also, consummation ... CHECK. Done and dusted! Daemons crying like babies? Also check. Thanks to Debbie Hopper for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy...Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E6Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E5As we make the long hard journey to France (while "roughing" it), Diana receives a lot of advice along the way on how to manage Philippe. Matthew's advice sort of fell flat for us, because he's still the difficult stubborn vampire we've all come to know and love. The correct answer -- of course -- is that no one manages Philippe. Also, side-saddles? BOO!This is the part of the show where Philippe demonstrates that he has a pretty good read on the larger situation, and what the couple faces. His awareness and quiet repudiations will eventually put the couple in their place, and (maybe? S2E4We travel back to the future to visit with Marcus, Ysabeau, Sarah, Emily, Nathaniel and Sophie! With the good, we get the bad ... we spy a Gerbert, a Peter, and a Domenico! We also get to meet Phoebe, who is new to us in this series, but we should probably pay attention to her, because she has a vital role in Marcus's future; reading the books is NOT necessary for this observation to occur! Anyone paying attention will be able to tell that she's about to become a permanent fixture in the series. In this episode, we are offered a sample of the forces that wait patiently for Diana and Matthew's return. Potential for more trouble? S2E3There is so much happening in this episode! Our bargain basement Philippe (Father Hubbard), accepts Matthew's confession and plea for forgiveness -- and Father Hubbard is willing to take it (with the offer of a good word to Philippe). Diana visits Mary Sidney in her lab, and learns that there may be a path to the book that both her and Matthew seek! Where does this path lead? It leads to John Dee and his vast library. As we follow this long and winding path with Diana and Matthew in the past (which eventually leads to our introduction to QE1 & Gallowglass), we must remember that in present-day things are continuing to happen in our timey-wimey sh*tstorm! We visit Domenico, Gerbert and Emily to see what they are up to, and what that adds to the larger story. Thanks to Samantha Reaves for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy...Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E3Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E2Our adventures continue! Our present day matriarchs are concerned about our witch and vampire. Did they make it? And back in time, Matthew's past is both a help and a hindrance to their cause. Mary Sidney? Helpful ... maybe? Father Hubbard, hindrance, definitely(!) ... probably(?) As viewers, do we even really know at this point?! Susanna and Goody definitely seem helpful, so we can hang on to that as a tentative fact . . .Anyway, we fall deep into medieval intrigue. Diana's powers, though potent, they remain perplexing! Matthew's past is definitely darker in the viewer's eyes, and perhaps even darker than he remembered. In the end, through Matthew's anxiety (brought out by Cecil and Hubbard; 'he's gonna tell my Dad!'), we are left wondering about the patriarch of the de Clermont family: Philippe. What does he have Matthew doing for him in Tudor England? Thanks to Michelle Gutierrez for sponsoring this episode, and to all, please enjoy.Full show notes: http://go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S2E2Informational links:Season 2 Shout Out! -- tell us your thoughts on this episode, the actors, the sets, or the series as a whole! S2E1And off we go into 1590! Diana and Matthew make quite a splash into London! Their main mission: Find a teacher, and get Ashmole 782. In/out, and back to present time, right?! Yeah. No. There a few obstacles (real or perceived) that the duo must deal with. First, Kit -- he's not buying the fact that his BFF Matthew would take on a witch for a wife. Second, Matthew. He kind of forgot what it was he was actually doing and where he was doing it on this date in 1590 (spying, squirreling around, torturing er ... interrogating). Third, there's the matter of finding a teacher for Diana. Oh! And let's not forget that there's a menacing guy that Matthew works for, William Cecil aka Lord Burghley. We loved that we got to meet our book faves, Kit, Henry, Walter, Pierre, Françoise, and Jack. And poor Diana! Just like Matthew, she's always up for a bad choice; it wouldn't be much of a story, otherwise. There's so much more, but we have it covered in the audio. Roald Dahl's The Witches is a 2020 Mexican-American dark fantasy comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis, Kenya Barris, and Guillermo del Toro. The film stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, and Stanley Tucci, and is narrated by Chris Rock. The Witches is a 1990 dark fantasy comedy film directed by Nicolas Roeg, produced by Jim Henson and starring Anjelica Huston, Mai Zetterling, Rowan Atkinson, and Jasen Fisher in his feature film debut. It is based on the 1983 book of the same name by Roald Dahl. As in the original novel, the story features evil witches who masquerade as ordinary women and kill children, and a boy and his grandmother must find a way to foil their plans. The film was produced by Jim Henson Productions for Lorimar Film Entertainment as the last theatrical film to be produced by Lorimar before the company shut down in 1993. The film was very well received by critics, but performed poorly at the box office; however, it has retained a cult following over the years.

The Discovery of Witches Season 2 trailer is out and we are so excited we decided to do a podcast breaking down what we think it shows us about the upcoming season. We suspect you, too, heard it. We're referring to the squeals around the world when the A Discovery of Witches Season 2 trailer was released last week at New York ComicCon. Yes, we had to do the con virtually this year. But it was still amazing to listen to the panel of cast members — Teresa Palmer, Matthew Goode, Edward Bluemel, and Adelle Leonce — talk about making the second season and then see the TRAILER!!! We hope you’ll join us as we squeal through a podcast discussing what we saw. We also hope you’ll take a listen to the podcast we did a while ago talking about scenes from Shadow of Night that we hope make it to the screen. In case you wondered what our squealing faces look like, we recorded this episode on video. You can watch it on our newly launched YouTube channel. Spoiler alert: our resident cat, whose name is not Tabitha but whom we insist on calling Tabitha regardless, makes her routine appearance. Finally we assume you have already marked your calendar for the release of A Discovery of Witches Season 2. Fans in the UK can see it January 8, 2021 on Sky TV and Now TV. Fans in the U.S. can see it on AMC, Sundance Now and Shudder on January 9, 2021. Housekeeping details: This podcast is labeled explicit because we sometimes swear and we’re going to talk about sex because, well, there’s sex in the books. So that’s why we gave it the explicit rating. You’ve now been officially warned.

As we eagerly await the arrival of A Discovery of Witches Season 2, we decided to talk about the scenes we hope make it from the book to the show. Listen in to see if you agree. This podcast episode was especially fun for us because we actually recorded it in the same room rather than from three different states in the U.S. Not only that, but we were joined by our honorary witchy friend, Denise, who is also a fan of Deb Harkness' amazing All Souls Trilogy. Yup, four witchy women in one room, libations and lots of thoughts and feelings about A Discovery of Witches Season 2. Life just doesn’t get much better than that. Other Stuff You Should Know: As we mention in the podcast, the All Souls Discussion Group on Facebook is currently doing a Shadow of Night real-time read-along, and we are partnering with them to do giveaways during that multi-month event. We’ll be doing our giveaways during some of the full moons that occur during the read-along because, well, we’re witches and fans of the moon goddess in general and of the power that comes around the full moon, specifically. We did our first Full Moon Magic giveaway when the read-along kicked off in November. We’ll be doing others in April and June so stay tuned by following us on our Facebook page and, of course, the All Souls Discussion Group page. Each giveaway will get bigger... This month’s wine note: It’s wine in a box, an idea we came up with because, well, we wanted to hear Ashley sing “It’s a witch in a box” again, and what says ladies getting together more than wine in a box. If you think wine in a box is declasse, our trusty sommelier, Bayard, will change your mind on that in a heartbeat. You can view the wine note here. Housekeeping details: This podcast episode primarily focuses on the story that takes place in Shadow of Night, the second book in the All Souls Trilogy but we may reference material from all of Deb's books, because we're flighty like that. Also this podcast is labeled explicit because we sometimes swear and we’re going to talk about sex because, well, there’s sex in the books. So that’s why we gave it the explicit rating. You’ve now been officially warned.
Welcome to All Souls Witchy Women Podcast Episode 10: The Use of Music in A Discovery of Witches, Season 1. Music plays a critical role in setting the scene for a TV show or movie and nowhere is that more obvious than in A Discovery of Witches. Gifted composer Rob Lane wrote the score and you’ll hear his music woven through nearly every scene. We could devote an entire podcast just to that. For this episode though, we’re talking about the creative use of other music in the season, the music that is not official soundtrack music but rather songs chosen to help make a particular emotional point. We’ll listen to snippets of these amazing songs and artists and then break down why we think this particular song and this particular artist was the exact right choice to build the emotional tension and move along the storyline. Let’s get listening! Housekeeping details: We’ve read the whole All Souls Trilogy and will try to stay on topic if we say a particular show is going to only cover A Discovery of Witches, but we may forget or digress or whatever so consider yourself warned if you’ve only read one of the books. For the record, this particular podcast is entirely focused on the TV version produced by Bad Wolf TV in Wales. So, if you haven’t watched all eight episodes yet, you might want to hold off on listening to this until you do. Also this podcast is labeled explicit because we sometimes swear and we’re going to talk about sex because, well, there’s sex in the books. So that’s why we gave it the explicit rating. You’ve now been officially warned. Show notes: Each episode we bring you a note about wine because red wine is a main form of sustenance for vampires when they’re not drinking, you know, blood. Oh, and we like wine…a lot. Usually our weekly wine notes come to us compliments of our resident sommelier, Bayard, who knows what he’s talking about because he’s a founding partner at Crafted Brands. This week, Bayard discusses syrah. That’s all we’re going to say about that other than to say Bayard sings in this wine note and channels his inner Doris Day. The text version of the wine note can be found in our latest wine note. We note in the episode that music plays a big role in Deb Harkness' creative process. She listens to particular music and musicians while writing for both inspiration and to help her maintain a particular tone. These playlists are specific to the books and feature a ton of interesting, varied music. As promised here's a link to the playlists so you can listen yourself. To help you enjoy the artists and songs we reference from the show, here’s the playlist with links where we can: Song of Home--Ashmole 782, sung by Klara Ketelaars; White Rabbit, sung by Haley Reinhart; Demons, by Imagine Dragons; Go Your Own Way, sung by Lissie; Por Una Cabeza, by Carlos Gardel; Tuxedo Junction, by Glenn Miller; For You, by Rae Morris; I Found by Amber Run; Slow Motion Dance, by Rob Lane and the Chamber Orchestra of London.
We're joined by some fabulous fellow witches - Cait and Jen - of Chamomile & Clove: An All Souls Podcast! They're sassy, funny, and let's be honest: die-hard fans of A Discovery of Witches & A Discovery of Witches TV. In this episode, we talk about some very serious things (Diana’s POV, the tragedy of Juliette) and some not-so-serious things (Grey's Anatomy! Made for TV Disney movies! The Marci-Mentions-Harry-Potter Drinking Game!).
ADOW S1 - The Binge!(SPOILER ALERT! Book spoilers throughout this episodes!)All Souls Discussion Group Moderator, Renee joins us from Facebook’s largest group for delving into the All Souls Trilogy, its expanding list of books, and its television show. Administered by Deborah Harkness, this group is what we consider the epicenter of the fandom's origins. Renee's daily interaction with the group allows her to share unique perspectives when it comes to parsing this story, therefore we thought she'd be a perfect fit for talking about the TV series story arc. This is also our first episode interacting with Discussers this year! Yay! We missed you guys! ADOW S1E6Matthew needs to find Diana ... and so does Baldwin. Their motivations clash in a vampiric display of will. Meanwhile, somewhere in a crumbling castle, Diana has to stave off a determined ('sadistic' is more accurate) witch from getting her secrets. Gerbert is skulking about hoping to get his own time with Diana, and this brings us to alarm because we know what he does to witches (Meridiana, anyone?)! Join us as we watch these events unravel! Also? Hello Sigasmund. From this episode on, you are no longer nameless. We shall call you "Siggie," OK?!EPISODE 6From the press release:Satu brutally tortures Diana in Gerbert’s isolated castle ruins. Matthew, now sworn to hunt down and kill anyone who tries to harm Diana, attempts a daring airborne rescue mission with Baldwin in tow, but they are too late to prevent Satu invoking dark magic in a bid to open up Diana and see the magic inside her. As Diana is forced to confront the idea that she might have been spellbound, she wonders what kind of monster she is. When Sophie confesses that she is a daemon born of witches, this news of cross-species offspring leaves Agatha reeling as she ponders the implications for all their lives.See full show notes: go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S1E6Join us on Patreon (as little as $2 monthly will gain you access to extra episodes + different level incentives for those who join at higher tiers!)A Discovery of Witches TV News info (Continually updated; scenes, sets, trailer video, official photographs, casting + more)All Souls Universe Book News for 2018 (Continually updated: The World of All Souls and Time's Convert - formally known as "The Marcus Book" - news; cover reveals, release dates, descriptions, tour info + more)Become a Discusser (contact info located there as well), or for US listeners: text ADOW to 444999Email us directly: DaemonsDiscuss@gmail.comCall & Leave a voicemail! 1 (360) 519-7836 or hit us up on SpeakPipe Our Podcast Page: DaemonsDiscuss.com Our Main Site: DaemonsDomain.com Join our Facebook Group: Daemonic Discussers (the word is "F***ing Firedrake" - be sure to answer the second question as well. ADOW S1E5So much happens! Ysabeau spills the tea on Matthew's past, we get to see vampires hunting, we watch the Congregation plotting (together and against one another!), and we learn how Matthew actually feels about Diana. There's other things thrown in there like the Knights of Lazarus, mating, suicide, and schmexy science-y stuff. Our wary hearts are eventually gifted with the reunion of Matthew and Diana! And then, CLIFFHANGER!EPISODE 5From the press release:Gillian pays a heavy price for her disloyalty to Diana, but not before news that vampires are studying witch DNA reaches Knox. The fall-out threatens the fragile equilibrium between creatures and the focus is on ending Matthew and Diana’s relationship whatever the cost. Agatha treads a careful line of democracy at the Congregation, but Nathaniel continues to instigate daemon direct-action. Ysabeau relies on shock tactics to expel Diana until Matthew returns with breathtaking news about Diana’s DNA. Diana and Matthew are finally united in love, only for the unexpected to happen.See full show notes: go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S1E5Join us on Patreon (as little as $2 monthly will gain you access to extra episodes + different level incentives for those who join at higher tiers!)A Discovery of Witches TV News info (Continually updated; scenes, sets, trailer video, official photographs, casting + more)All Souls Universe Book News for 2018 (Continually updated: The World of All Souls and Time's Convert - formally known as "The Marcus Book" - news; cover reveals, release dates, descriptions, tour info + more)Become a Discusser (contact info located there as well), or for US listeners: text ADOW to 444999Email us directly: DaemonsDiscuss@gmail.comCall & Leave a voicemail! ADOW S1E4We meet Ysabeau, Marthe, Baldwin, and we get to see The Congregation assemble. Seriously, what could go wrong? Dinner, dancing, glaem, romance, ALL fantastic! Until Domenico shows up ... (plays suspense music right here). We're at the pivotal mid-point of the series; we laugh, swoon, rail, and wail!EPISODE 4From the press release:Matthew’s hope of keeping Diana safe at Sept-Tours appears short-lived as Ysabeau refuses to welcome the warmblood under her roof. Knox calls an emergency meeting of the Congregation to denounce Matthew for abducting a witch but Matthew’s ferocious older brother Baldwin plays a careful game to maintain control in the face of Gerbert foretelling the end of the de Clermonts – and throws Diana to the lions. Diana isn’t the only witch facing persecution. Satu pays a shocking price for her curiosity when Knox discovers she has been searching through the Witches’ Archive and learned his guilty secret. The Old Lodge, the dinner and as Angela says, phase 1 of Operation Tenth Knot begins . . .EPISODE 3From the press release:Domenico takes information he’s extracted from Satu to menacing vampire Gerbert, who gains the advantage he has been waiting for. After sending Juliette into the world to do his bidding, Gerbert consults with Meridiana, the witch whom he keeps in thrall, but what does the prophecy she delivers mean? In Oxford, Diana refuses to help Knox realize his supremacist longing to destroy the vampires and answers his threats with such a violent force of untamed elemental power, as to set in motion a wider chain of events that bring her closer to Matthew but place her in even greater jeopardy.See full show notes: go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S1E3Join us on Patreon (as little as $2 monthly will gain you access to extra episodes + different level incentives for those who join at higher tiers!)A Discovery of Witches TV News info (Continually updated; scenes, sets, trailer video, official photographs, casting + more)All Souls Universe Book News for 2018 (Continually updated: The World of All Souls and Time's Convert - formally known as "The Marcus Book" - news; cover reveals, release dates, descriptions, tour info + more)Become a Discusser (contact info located there as well), or for US listeners: text ADOW to 444999Email us directly: DaemonsDiscuss@gmail.comCall & Leave a voicemail! ADOW S1E2Traveling further in the small-screen universe, we meet some new characters on screen: Juliette, Hamish, Domenico and Gerbert! All sorts of things seem to be happening around Matthew and Diana, and we work our way through the events, and hash out our flurry of thoughts as the characters work through their drama!EPISODE 2From the press release:Blind to the interest she has stirred among creatures, Diana fights an increasing pull towards the magical and turns her back on her witch heritage, but matters take an unexpectedly dark turn when Satu is sent by Peter Knox to intimidate her. In Venice, beautiful but murderous Juliette has her fatal obsession with Matthew reawakened. And just as Diana decides to trust Matthew with a secret only she knows about the book, he flees in a desperate bid to protect her from his cravings. ADOW S1E1Our impressions, feelings, nitpicking, drooling, squee-ing, dying on/over episode one, series/season (pick your flavor) one of A Discovery of WitchesEPISODE 1From the press release:In Oxford’s Bodleian library, brilliant American historian and reluctant witch Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up an ancient magical manuscript, Ashmole 782, which has been missing for centuries, and finds herself confronted by acclaimed geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont, who is determined to get his hands on the book. Diana’s determination not to be frightened by Matthew as he struggles to control his predatory instincts around her fuels a dangerous connection between the two of them. When news of the book’s appearance spreads throughout the world of daemons, vampires and witches hiding in plain sight among humans, the hunt for the witch who summoned it takes on a deadly intensity.See full show notes: go.DaemonsDiscuss.com/S1E1Join us on Patreon (as little as $2 monthly will gain you access to extra episodes + different level incentives for those who join at higher tiers!)A Discovery of Witches TV News info (Continually updated; scenes, sets, trailer video, official photographs, casting + more)All Souls Universe Book News for 2018 (Continually updated: The World of All Souls and Time's Convert - formally known as "The Marcus Book" - news; cover reveals, release dates, descriptions, tour info + more)Become a Discusser (contact info located there as well), or for US listeners: text ADOW to 444999Email us directly: DaemonsDiscuss@gmail.comCall & Leave a voicemail! It's a bit early this week, but it had to be! We all have work to do over the coming weekend, so the better-the-day, the better-the-deed! This particular podcast gets quite deep, so please put on some sedating, non-caffeinated tea... or take a valium or something... we get deeper here than we've ever gotten on any podcast. Filled with speculation and conjecture, (in our own demented way that you've come to love!), we start talking about the Discovery Channel's mermaid special and end up covering theories of creationism from the perspective of a witch. No, really! So, send your e-mails, complaints, compliments, bad caricatures, and turkish delight candies to whatswithwitches@gmail.com Blessed Be, brothers and sisters, and don't say I didn't warn you!
We're back with another awesome interview with a witch we greatly respect and love; Mamma Creepy of http://www.mamacreepy.com ! Mama Creepy has run her own website for 13 years selling the finest pagan and wiccan wares, and also puts out a wonderful newsletter filled with spells, information, and a plethora of other useful information. So it's clear, we are not getting paid to endorse Mama Creepy... this comes from our heart! We love her shop, we love her literature, and we can't say how happy we are to have had the opportunity to interview this incredible icon in the pagan community! Yes, we trail off and have our normal back-and-forth, but this is one killer interview our listeners will instantly love. Oh, and all our listeners, please tell Chris to share her apple! LOL! (See, now you have to listen to find out what I'm talking about!)
This is an important podcast for all faiths under the pagan umbrella to listen to, hands down. John, Liza, and Christina, (Kathy has the flu!), interview Kyrja and Randy Withers for our longest-yet podcast! Kyrja the author of Rupert's Tales pagan children's books, and the unfortunate recent victims of hate crimes against wiccans in Florida. We have our usual fun banter and trailing off, but this podcast contains a lot of what is wrong with religious (in)tolerance these days in our country. Please listen, and send feedback to "whatswithwitches@gmail.com". We must support each other and stand fast along side our pagan brothers and sisters! Blessed be!
This podcast definitely is a milestone! We start out with our normal banter, as we've become known for, then get down to some Chakra meditation business and describing exactly why it's important to have an insight into fine-tuning your energy conduits! It sounds slightly perverse, but I can assure you it's a perfectly proper show. Relatively. In the main meat of the podcast, we were honored to have it dedicated to interviewing talented author Mr. Darren Storer about his current book, "A Key to the Storm", his upcoming projects, and privy to a little bit of his history. We *do* delve off-topic once or twice! ;) This podcast is not to be missed!
Ok, so, everybody gets one... this is it for us. This podcast is totally unorganized, all-over-the-place, and damned enjoyable for those who love listening to us be clowns. The girls gang up on John more than once, and Kathy's overworked. John is simply spacey, and Liza... well, insert dry humor and wit here. In this particular podcast we discuss the benefits of eggs, a bit of post-Mercurial Retrograde nonsense, and Margi, mineral expert, joins us to talk about minerology and the Pagan culture and usage of these. Don't expect coherency folks, you're not catching us at our best. Our regular fans and listeners will understand... ;)
This week on WWW podcast John addresses some issues in the pagan community, and does a LIVE tarot and oracle card reading for a listener! Along with the regular merriment, loud laughing, and Liza's sharp and cutting wit, you're guaranteed to laugh and enjoy. Oh, and cookies. There are cookies. Please have one.
We're heeeeeeeere! We're back for Episode 3! We cover some recent wiccan and pagan induced "issues" in Kathy's personal life, (that ironically mirror something we ALL deal with at one point or the other coming out of the "broom closet"), and paganism and wicca in the news! John gets attacked by Liza and Kathy continuously throughout and Liza makes a joke about the spelling of "dictator". It's a bit of a hodge podge of topics, but you'll enjoy it because we're insane... which is what makes it all good. Excelsior!
