I'm your host, Dennis Jernigan, and I am so grateful you have joined me for this week's podcast. I'll get right to the heart of the matter today. For far too many years I allowed the lies of the enemy to define me. That all changed the day I was overwhelmed with the Truth that Jesus Christ had died for me. I was instantly set free from my past but had to walk out the wonderful but difficult journey toward wholeness. In fact, I'm still on that journey. I invite you to join me for today's brief leg of that adventure as I share the story behind my song, “Rock of My Life”. Way back in 2010, I embarked on an adventure that lasted 40 days but continues to affect my life to this day. From May 3 through June 11 I went on a 40 day fast. I needed to reboot my system because I had just gone through a series of traumatic events that left me gutted. The Lord called me to a fast and led me to meditate daily on Psalm 40 and Isaiah 40. He spoke to my heart and told me He would give me a song each day of the fast and that I was to record it that same day. Since then, I put together 4 ten song volumes where you can find all 40 songs. The first ten songs are on the collection called Forty Days and Forty Nights - Songs of Contemplation and Intimacy Vol. 1. This week's episode is the story behind the song “Rock of My Life” which came to me on May 6, 2010 which was day 4 of that fast. As soon as I began the fast, I felt God's presence and love for me and my spiritual hunger for more of Him began to surpass my physical hunger. But what the Lord began to reveal to me was often not always pleasant or easy to hear. He revealed to me that I still believed certain lies about my identity; He showed me that I still battled thoughts of being unlovable and of feeling rejected; He pulled back the curtain of my heart and I saw that I still struggled with doubts and that I often reverted to a victim mentality. It felt like I was suddenly on shaky ground. On May 6, 2010, I meditated on Psalm 40:2b which says, “And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.” To say I was consumed with what that meant to my soul is an understatement. The sinking sand I had been mired in suddenly began to be replaced by the Solid Rock of my faith in the ever-present presence of my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I poured out my heart to him in honest confession, anxious thoughts began to fall by the wayside; fear began to melt away from the fire of God's massive love for me; doubt was eradicated; I stepped into an even greater awareness of who I am and of whose I am; as I declared the truth of God's word over my own soul, I suddenly found myself firmly planted on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. From that vantage point, I recognized that I had set my eyes on Dennis - on myself - and we always know how that goes. I saw that in my pride there was no room for Jesus, but as I humbled myself and fixed my eyes on Him, even the most hurtful traumas of my life began to go through a whole new phase of healing. Let's take a few minutes and listen to the song and, as we do, let us fix our eyes away from ourselves and onto the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Are you ready? SONG As I have said in the past few episodes, these songs have taken on a whole new meaning for me since my diagnosis of Parkinson's in 2019. But the truth of the matter is that I have discovered the rock solid foundation of faith in Jesus Christ is even more solid and more steadfast than I could ever could have imagined experiencing in this life. Jesus is indeed a steadfast rock…the Rock of My Salvation…and will continue to be so until the day I die - and far beyond. The bottom line? I am not a victim. I am a victor because of the victorious work of Jesus on the cross and because of His victory over sin, death, and the grave. I am full of resurrection power…and so are you, my fellow new creations in Christ. Thank you for tuning in to The Dennis Jernigan Podcast! Remember this from today's episode: the constant, unwavering, massive love of God is where we must choose to abide and wait on Him. He is a sure Foundation. He is Solid Ground in a shaken and fallen world. Just keep your eyes fixed on Him and keep your feet firmly planted on the Solid Rock of Jesus Christ. Now, go forth and embrace the truth of who your heavenly Father says you are.       Vol. I – Song Four – Day Four Psalm 40:2b NASB   Rock of My Life Words & Music by Dennis Jernigan

Barry Quart, CEO of Connect Biopharma, is developing the next generation of monoclonal antibodies targeting inflammatory respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma. Administered subcutaneously, their lead program targets IL-4 and has demonstrated the ability to rapidly improve airway function and reduce the incidence of acute exacerbations in these patients. Current treatments rely on steroids and bronchodilators, which do not address the underlying inflammatory causes, an area that has largely been under-addressed by other biologic developers. Barry explains, "Connect has been dedicated for quite a few years to designing next-generation monoclonal antibodies targeting inflammatory diseases. I joined the company last year and really kind of turned the ship towards a sole focus on our lead program, which is rademikibart, a second-generation Dupixent, a monoclonal antibody targeting IL-4, a really important target for certain inflammatory diseases." "IL-4 can be used as a monoclonal antibody targeting IL-4 for diseases such as atopic dermatitis, asthma, and COPD, as well as several other conditions. We're focused on asthma and COPD. You will find the show notes and lyrics below: Welcome to The Dennis Jernigan Podcast, a journey towards healing, hope, intimacy, and refuge in the storms of life – basically, a guide to a deeper connection with Jesus. Through all my years, one thing stands true: God doesn't waste a thing. Not our sorrows, not our wounds, not even our failures. Hey there, I'm Dennis Jernigan, your host, and I'm excited to unveil the story behind my song, “I Wait Here” from the recording, Forty Days and Forty Nights - Songs of Contemplation and Intimacy Vol. 1. In the year 2010,  I felt led to embark on something I had never experienced in my life…a forty day fast. Always marveling at those who had accomplished such a feat…marveling at, while at the same time,  considering those who had completed a forty-day fast somewhere between ‘hero' and ‘eccentric'…I woke one day feeling compelled to begin my own journey of a forty-day fast. Little did I know that God would speak to me in such profound ways and so radically re-order my life in the process. Having just gone through 3 years of grief and sorrow at the loss of relationship with several friends…reeling from the dramatic downturn of our economy…recognizing the lonely place I found myself due to the call to declare to the world my freedom from same sex attraction…major surgery…another daughter marrying and moving literally to the other side of the earth…coming to grips with how different and removed I was from the ‘normal/mainstream' Christian music scene…I woke that day knowing I needed a change…needed to reboot my system in every way – mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. From May 3 until June 11 I consumed only water and fruit and vegetable juice losing 40 pounds in the process. While the weight loss helped get my body back on track after the surgery, the re-focusing of my mind, emotions, and spirit on the things of the Lord began to get my entire being back on track. My good friend, Dean Briggs, sent me a new book he had just written as a guide through a forty-day fast called Consumed:40 Days of Fasting, Repentance & Rebirth. Written in the form of daily devotions, I began each day meditating on either Psalm 40 or Isaiah 40. With each day's meditation the Lord saw fit to give me a song…which I recorded immediately after receiving. The forty songs in these four volumes are the culmination of a 40-day journey of self-rediscovery. My vision for these collections is that you would use them as devotional meditations in your personal daily spiritual walk of intimacy with Christ. We have made the lyrics available to you on this web site along with the Scriptural reference on which I meditated. Use this as a guide to help you rediscover a deeper awareness of your identity in Christ or to uncover new hidden treasures concerning your relationship with the King. Should you decide to set out on your own fast, I strongly encourage you to get the book Consumed:40 Days of Fasting, Repentance & Rebirth by Dean Briggs. You will be greatly encouraged and strengthened in your soul as Dean leads you through a healthy, Christ-centered approach to a spiritual fast. Pun intended, I cannot wait for you to hear this song, I Wait Here, because it was the first song I received on the first day of my 40 Day Fast, but also that it encapsulates the importance of quieting and stilling one's soul before the Lord. Those 40 days proved to be very healing to my body and to my soul and I must add this: since I have been struggling with Parkinson's, the Lord has brought these songs back to my mind and I find myself, once again, having to still and quiet my own soul - especially since my body is in perpetual motion due to the tremors caused by this disease. It is as if I'm learning an even deeper stilling of my soul even as my body ails and refuses to cooperate. Just do what I do. Just take a few minutes. Get alone with the Lord if possible and make this your heart's cry for today: I waited patiently for the LORD… Psalm 40:1a NASB Let's just do that. Let's just sit here a while and patiently wait for the Lord. He is here whether you feel Him or not. He is just here. SONG Isaiah 40:31 says , “But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Let's be as those who soar this week. Soar above our circumstances; Above our sorrows; above our fears; above the enemy and his lies. Let's just wait on the Lord. Let us learn the art of lingering with Him. It's time well spent. I guarantee it will be worth the wait. Now go and be who your heavenly Father says you are. I Wait Here WORDS & MUSIC Dennis Jernigan May 3, 2010 Verse One

featured Wiki of the Day

fWotD Episode 2945: Nosy Komba Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Wednesday, 28 May 2025, is Nosy Komba.Nosy Komba (Malagasy pronunciation: [nusʲ ˈkuᵐba]; lit. 'island of lemurs'), also known as Nosy Ambariovato, is a small volcanic island in Madagascar, situated between the island of Nosy Be and the northwestern coast of the main island of Madagascar. Roughly circular, it rises sharply towards a plateau and the summit of Antaninaombi at the center of the island. Administered as an arrondissement of the unitary commune and district of Nosy-Be within Diana Region, the island is divided into five fokontany (villages), with Ampangorina as the main village and administrative center. The population is mainly restricted to the northern half of the island. The economy is reliant on tourism and handicrafts, supplemented by a wide range of agricultural products. Hotels and guest houses support tourists to the island, mainly on excursions from Nosy Be.The lowlands of the island are divided between secondary forest and a patchwork of farmland and plantations (notably including shade-grown coffee), while the highlands are mainly scrubland, with a bamboo forest in the northern portions. The island hosts a diverse range of reptiles and amphibians, although this has been reduced by deforestation. The island is known for its black lemurs, causing it to attract significant ecotourism. Heavily deforested during the 19th and 20th centuries, the island has only small pockets of old-growth forest remaining in remote areas. Although the island hosts a traditionally protected forest and an arboretum established in the colonial era, protection for the latter is essentially unenforced, and illegal logging continues.During the early 19th century, the region was heavily settled by Sakalava refugees and their slaves fleeing the hegemony of the Merina Kingdom. France gained control of the island in 1840; it was converted to a logistic center for the import of indentured servants and local slaves, and later a sanatorium retreat for colonists. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:52 UTC on Wednesday, 28 May 2025.For the full current version of the article, see Nosy Komba on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Danielle.

Video version available on HCPLive! In this episode of New Insight, host Veeral Sheth, MD, MBA, director of clinical research at University Retina and Macula Associates, speaks with Riad Sherif, MD, chief executive officer of Oculis, about the company's groundbreaking advancements in ophthalmic therapeutics. The discussion delves into Oculis' clinical pipeline, particularly OCS-05, a neuroprotective agent demonstrating promising results in acute optic neuritis. The Phase 2 ACUITY trial showed that OCS-05 preserved retinal ganglion cells (RGCs), reduced axonal loss, and improved low-contrast visual acuity. Importantly, patients receiving OCS-05 experienced significantly fewer multiple sclerosis relapses, suggesting broader neuroprotective potential. Administered intravenously alongside corticosteroids, the therapy could represent a paradigm shift in preserving vision in acute optic neuritis and beyond. Sheth and Sherif also explore Oculis' lead candidate, OCS-01, a topical treatment for diabetic macular edema (DME) that utilizes Optireach™ technology to penetrate the retina. With two ongoing Phase 3 trials (DIAMOND 1 and 2), OCS-01 has the potential to offer a non-invasive alternative or adjunct to intravitreal injections, expanding treatment options for patients with DME. Additionally, Oculis' OCS-02, a TNF inhibitor for dry eye disease, integrates a biomarker-driven precision medicine approach, ensuring targeted therapy for responders and potentially revolutionizing dry eye treatment. Looking ahead, Oculis is focused on executing its clinical programs, particularly finalizing patient randomization in the DIAMOND trials, advancing precision medicine for inflammation, and expanding indications for OCS-05 in neuroprotection. Sherif envisions OCS-05 as a potential game-changer, addressing significant unmet needs in ophthalmology and neurology by preserving vision and improving quality of life for patients facing vision-threatening diseases. Stress hormones are released immediately during challenging situations, making stress a significant yet subjective experience. These stress hormones increase insulin resistance & cause hyperglycemia unlike physical weight, stress cannot be quantified—it varies for everyone, making it a deeply personal phenomenon. Uncontrolled blood sugar can lead to complications like early-onset cataracts, often appearing as early as 45 or 50, especially in diabetics. Retinal issues and glaucoma are also common, emphasizing the need for annual eye exams. People with Diabetes should inform their doctors and prioritize regular evaluations to detect and manage potential eye complications effectively. Awareness promoted by the government and media highlights the importance of vaccinations. A disease Herpes zoster or shingles can affect individuals with diabetes. This virus resides in everyone but becomes active when the immune system weakens. Fortunately, a vaccine with 90% efficacy is available for those over 50. Administered in two doses, the first dose is followed by the second after two months, within a six-month window. Adult vaccination schedules should include common vaccines such as hepatitis B, pneumococcal, influenza, and herpes zoster. Evaluations for neuropathy (nerve damage) and vasculopathy (blood vessel damage) are also critical. Neuropathy affects nerves, while vasculopathy leads to arterial damage. Dr. Kavita Gupta advises caution during fasting, as starchy foods like potatoes and sabudana can spike blood sugar levels. Instead, opt for foods with a low glycemic index to avoid sugar surges. Increase fiber intake while avoiding sugar and jaggery. Common fasting foods like halwa, sago vada, and khichdi can elevate sugar levels. A better alternative is incorporating salads, roasted chickpeas, lemon water, small amounts of coconut water, or fresh coconut. Bhagar (a low glycemic index grain) combined with vegetables like tomatoes, peas, and carrots is beneficial. Including protein and lean meat can further improve dietary balance. The Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program is a state-funded short-term loan program that provides immediate, temporary assistance to small businesses impacted by a disaster, such as hurricanes, floods, or other emergencies. Administered by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), the program is designed to "bridge the gap" by offering quick financial relief to small businesses until longer-term resources, such as insurance claims or federal disaster assistance, are available.Key FeaturesLoan Amount: Loans typically range from $1,000 to $50,000, although this can vary depending on the specific disaster and available funding.Interest Rate: These loans are interest-free for a specified term, usually for up to one year. After this period, if the loan is not repaid, a fixed interest rate might apply.Repayment Terms: This is a short-term loan, usually requiring repayment within 12 months. It's not intended as a long-term solution but rather as a bridge to keep businesses operational while they secure additional funds.Eligibility Requirements:Business must be physically located in Florida.Must have been operational at the time of the disaster.Typically, there are size limitations (e.g., fewer than 100 employees).Must show evidence of economic injury from the specific disaster.Application Process:Applications are submitted through the DEO.In some cases, additional documentation (e.g., tax returns, financial statements) may be required.Approval Timeline: Designed for rapid deployment, with approvals and disbursements generally processed as quickly as possible to support immediate needs. How to ApplyEligible small businesses can apply online through the DEO's website during an active application period, which usually opens after a disaster declaration. It's a first-come, first-served program, meaning that funding could be exhausted, so early application is encouraged. For more detailed information, including current application deadlines, visit the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity's website or contact them directly.Call 1-833-832-4494 EmergencyBridgeLoan@Commerce.fl.govhttp://www.floridajobs.org/EBLTune in and learn https://www.ddamortgage.com/blogdidier malagies nmls#212566dda mortgage nmls#324329 Support the show

Jim's life as an alcoholic began with an addiction to morphine when he was 14.  Administered four times a day while he was hospitalized for a month after a serious surgery, Jim found that morphine did more than kill the pain. It helped him escape the mental tribulations he felt from childhood on. But morphine was difficult to get and he soon found that increasing amounts of alcohol was would have largely the same results. So, he didn't stop drinking or using drugs until he was 46. Jim's life prior to sobriety was the familiar odyssey of drinking and drug use, to which so many alcoholics in AA can relate. But the biggest challenges and threats to his sobriety occurred after he had joined AA. At 13 months sober, his wife of 17 years was found dead from a drug overdose suicide.  At nearly 4 years sober, a drunk driver caused a near fatal motorcycle accident for Jim that landed him in the hospital for 3½ months of multiple surgeries for shattered bones and brain injury.  Released to a life of chronic pain, he also lost his beloved career as a symphonic musician. Later on in his sobriety, Jim lost his best friend to suicide. More recently, as the only child, Jim has been caring for his 91 year old mother who's been very sick. Handling the tragedies that have befallen him during sobriety, as well as the gifts that have come from it, Jim has stayed firmly planted in the action part of his AA Program. Sponsoring other men and ceaseless service have never failed to improve the quality of his sobriety no matter what he faces in life. Jim's story is both courageous and captivating. It provides a roadmap for navigating troubled times and an inspiring optimism for living a happy life in midst of Alcoholics Anonymous. So please enjoy this episode of AA Recovery Interviews with my fine friend and AA brother, Jim D.  [This is an encore of Episode 65, originally released February 16, 2022]. EPISODE 197 DETAILS Why Trace Mineral Supplementation For Cattle Your Best Shot At Strategic Trace Mineral Supplementation For Cattle  Supports Cattle Health And Reproduction Multimin® 90 (zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium injection) is a proven, one-of-a-kind solution to provide trace minerals known to support cattle health and reproduction. Successful Breeding Strategic trace mineral supplementation for cattle improves trace mineral status in breeding stock, leading to more calves in fewer days. Healthy Calving Third-trimester injections improve cow-to-calf trace mineral transfer and colostrum quality, especially when used with a scours vaccine. Enhanced Immunity Multimin 90 enhances cattle vaccine protection and immune response when used as part of a vaccination protocol. Why Is Trace Mineral Supplementation For Cattle Necessary? Inadequate trace mineral status in cattle can lead to suppressed immune function, lower fertility, and decreased growth. Oral nutrition programs face challenges such as: Antagonists in water/feed binding minerals in the rumen, limiting absorption Variation in intake among cattle Increased mineral demand during stressful events, which oral minerals cannot quickly meet How Does Multimin 90 Work? Multimin 90 complements an oral nutrition program by rapidly increasing zinc, copper, manganese, and selenium levels in cattle during high-demand periods. Administered via subcutaneous injection, it reaches peak levels in the blood within 8-10 hours and is stored in the liver for later use. Important Safety Information For Multimin 90: Not for use in humans, keep out of reach of children. Multimin 90 has a pre-slaughter withdrawal time of 14 days after injection. Do not use it during the first trimester of pregnancy or in pre-ruminant calves as safety has not been established. Selenium and copper are toxic if administered in excess and may lead to sudden death, depression, weakness, ataxia, salivation, and drooling. Do not use concurrently with other selenium or copper injections or boluses. Maximum volume per injection site is 7 mL. Allow a minimum of 30 days before considering repeat dosing. Clay Jenkinson joins his friend Dennis McKenna in Chaco Canyon in northwestern New Mexico to observe the solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. Chaco Canyon dates to at least the ninth century CE, more than a thousand years ago, and somehow their skywatchers know how to observe equinoxes, solstices, and eclipses. What better place to see the solar eclipse of 2024? Administered by the US National Park System, but interpreted for us by a Native Navajo and Zia expert Kailo Winters, it was a magical experience in a sacred place. We came away impressed by the capacity of the European Enlightenment to figure all of this out, but far more in awe of the Puebloan scholars who figured such phenomena out centuries before European science was out of its swaddling clothes. We also check in with our favorite Enlightenment correspondent David Nicandri.

June 16, 2008... the last day two-year-old Caylee Anthony is seen alive. One month later her grandmother Cindy Anthony franticly calls 911 to report her granddaughter is missing. Casey Anthony claims that a babysitter kidnapped her daughter. By October when nothing Casey tells police turns out to be true, she is arrested and charged in Caylee's death, even though Caylee is still missing. On December 11th, Caylee's remains are found in a garbage bag, dumped in a wooded area near the Anthony home. Eight days later, Caylee's death is ruled a homicide.  Prosecutors announce they will seek the death penalty against her. At Casey Anthony's trial, her lawyer first makes clams that George Anthony was molesting his daughter and that he staged Caylee's death to look like a drowning to cover up that he may have been abusing his granddaughter as well.  Those claims,  made again after Casey Anthony is acquitted in the death, have haunted the Anthonys for years.  Now, George and Cindy Anthony agree to take a lie detector test in front of cameras for the A&E network special "Casey Anthony's Parents: The Lie Detector Test."
