As noted in the headline, the Polish player Iga Swiatek won her third Women's Singles Roland Garros trophy, placing her square and center with three other tennis legends – and that was your question. What are the names of the three women who have also won three Women's Singles Roland Garros trophies? The answer is, to quote Paul's article: “It was Swiatek's fourth trophy at a Grand Slam tournament venue and the third at the French Open to go with crowns from 2020 and 2022. The feat puts her on the same pedestal as Serena Williams, Monica Seles and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario.”In addition to the quiz question, there was the bonus question: “What would you do if you won the lottery?”The winners are: Raihan Ali, who's a member of the Nilshagor RFI Fan Club in Nilphamari, Bangladesh. Raihan is also the winner of this week's bonus question - congratulations, Raihan! There's also Saleem Akhtar, the president of the RFI Seven Stars Radio Listeners Club in District Chiniot, Pakistan, and RFI Listeners Club members Nasyr Muhammad from Katsina State in Nigeria and Radhakrishna Pillai from Kerala State, India. Rounding out the list of winners for this week is RFI English listener Malik Allah Bachaya Khokhar, who's a member of the Sungat Radio Listeners Club in Muzaffargarh Pakistan.Congratulations winners! Here's the music you heard on this week's programme: the "Minute" waltz by Frédéric Chopin, performed by Artur Rubinstein; “The Flight of the Bumblebee” by Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov; “The Cakewalk” from Children's Corner by Claude Debussy, performed by the composer, and “Suite: Golden Dawn” by Al Di Meola, performed by Al Di Meola, Jaco Pastorius, and members of the Return to Forever band.Do you have a musical request? Muhammad Ali, original name Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., (born January 17, 1942, Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.—died June 3, 2016, Scottsdale, Arizona), American professional boxer and social activist. Ali was the first fighter to win the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions; he successfully defended this title 19 times. Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr., grew up in the American South in a time of segregated public facilities. His father, Cassius Marcellus Clay, Sr., supported a wife and two sons by painting billboards and signs. His mother, Odessa Grady Clay, worked as a household domestic. Serena Williams poses with the Daphne Akhurst Trophy after winning the Women's Singles final against Venus Williams of the United States on day 13 of the 2017 Australian Open at Melbourne Park on January 28, 2017 in Melbourne, Australia. (tennis, sports) When Clay was 12 years old, he took up boxing under the tutelage of Louisville policeman Joe Martin. After advancing through the amateur ranks, he won a gold medal in the 175-pound division at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and began a professional career under the guidance of the Louisville Sponsoring Group, a syndicate composed of 11 wealthy white men. In his early bouts as a professional, Clay was more highly regarded for his charm and personality than for his ring skills. He sought to raise public interest in his fights by reading childlike poetry and spouting self-descriptive phrases such as “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” He told the world that he was “the Greatest,” but the hard realities of boxing seemed to indicate otherwise. Clay infuriated devotees of the sport as much as he impressed them. He held his hands unconventionally low, backed away from punches rather than bobbing and weaving out of danger, and appeared to lack true knockout power. The opponents he was besting were a mixture of veterans who were long past their prime and fighters who had never been more than mediocre. Thus, purists cringed when Clay predicted the round in which he intended to knock out an opponent, and they grimaced when he did so and bragged about each new conquest. On February 25, 1964, Clay challenged Sonny Liston for the heavyweight championship of the world. Liston was widely regarded as the most intimidating, powerful fighter of his era. Clay was a decided underdog. But in one of the most stunning upsets in sports history, Liston retired to his corner after six rounds, and Clay became the new champion. Two days later Clay shocked the boxing establishment again by announcing that he had accepted the teachings of the Nation of Islam. On March 6, 1964, he took the name Muhammad Ali, which was given to him by his spiritual mentor, Elijah Muhammad. For the next three years, Ali dominated boxing as thoroughly and magnificently as any fighter ever had. In a May 25, 1965, rematch against Liston, he emerged with a first-round knockout victory. Triumphs over Floyd Patterson, George Chuvalo, Henry Cooper, Brian London, and Karl Mildenberger followed. On November 14, 1966, Ali fought Cleveland Williams. Over the course of three rounds, Ali landed more than 100 punches, scored four knockdowns, and was hit a total of three times. Ali's triumph over Williams was succeeded by victories over Ernie Terrell and Zora Folley. (tennis, sports) BRITANNICA QUIZ Great Moments in Sports Quiz What animal was used to curse the Chicago Cubs? Who overcame an illness to win the “Flu Game”? What National Football League (NFL) team achieved a perfect season? After a dreadful run in the 1960s, during which the Bruins finished last in the NHL in six of the seven seasons from 1960–61 to 1966–67, superstars Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito emerged to resurrect the franchise. The two led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup in 1970, in the team's first league championship in 29 years. Orr, a defenseman, was the Bruins' most popular player until he left the team after the 1975–76 season, netting three league Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards (1970–72) and leading the team to another Stanley Cup win in 1972. Future Hall of Fame defenseman Ray Bourque joined the Bruins in 1979 and quickly became the new face of the franchise, playing for the team for almost two decades. The Bruins consistently contended during this period, as evidenced by their NHL-record 29 consecutive playoff appearances between 1968 and 1996, but they often played second fiddle to teams such as the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers. After playing through a stretch of seasons from 1997–98 to 2007–08 that saw the Bruins lose in the first round of the playoffs in five of their six postseason appearances, the team returned to the Stanley Cup finals after a 20-year absence in 2010–11. Behind the outstanding play of goaltender Tim Thomas—who set a finals record by recording 238 saves over the course of the series—the Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks in seven games to capture their sixth championship. The Bruins returned to the Stanley Cup finals in 2012–13 but lost in six games to the Chicago Blackhawks. In 2013–14 the Bruins had the best record in the NHL but were eliminated in the second round of t

At the age of six Vera Zvonareva picked up a tennis racket and never looked back. Growing up in Moscow she honed her game on courts that had carpet as the surface. Her first overseas exchange experience when she was a young girl was to London, and she shares her memories of London, the food, the culture after traveling for the first time from Russia. Two-time runner-up Li Na of China finally won her first Australian Open women's singles title here on Saturday after beating Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia 7-6, 6-0 in the final. The fourth seed, broke Cibulkova's serve in the opening game, but had to fight 70 minutes to win the first set through a tiebreak. Cibulkova, 24, and the first Slovak woman to reach a Grand Slam final, lost her pace in the second set as she failed to keep even just one serve game. After rolling through the second set in 27 minutes, Li held up both thumbs to the crowd, and held back tears. She went immediately to the side of the court to shake hands with her coach Carlos Rodriguez in the stands. The 31-year-old fourth seed was crowned the Melbourne Park champion on her third attempt after losing in the 2011 and 2013 finals, adding to the French Open title she won three years ago. Li Na is popular at Melbourne Park, with her funny post-match interviews and remarks. She had the crowd laughing hysterically again in her victory speech. "Thank you Max, my agent….." Li's supporters were everywhere at Rod Laver Arena, some with Chinese flags painted on their faces, others holding Chinese flags or giant signs painted with Chinese characters. Even after the match, they were still so excited and reluctant to leave`. "I am so happy and excited, and no words can express my minds. Li Na finally gets the Australian Open title. Go, Li Na." "I'm so excited. I really want to stand in the very front to see Li Na holding the trophy. It's the first time a player from Asian country wins the final." At the press conference, Li Na introduced how she struggled to survive in the first set. Although turning 32 years old next month, Li said age is never a problem for her. When asked about her next target, she said she wanted to win another one or two grand Slams. "Last year when I said I want to be top 3, nobody believed me but I did it. At Shenzhen this year, I said I want to win another grand slam, nobody believed me either, but I made it today. So I think I need to keep making targets for myself. I will try to improve my ranking, and I also want to win one or two grand slams." Just as the Chinese characters printed on her T-shirt which meant "A heart without limits", Li Na will go to achieve her next goal bravely.
