A super-special podcast episode is in store for you as everyone from Writeway and The Real Story takes a moment to recognize June as National Cancer Survivor Month in honor of the nearly 17 million cancer survivors in the U.S.To cap it off, Joe sits down with his wife, communications and marketing specialist and cancer survivor, Anna Tower-Kövesdi, as the couple observes six months since she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). With both candor, and surprising levity, they discuss the seemingly insurmountable challenge of facing “The Big ‘C',” from the shock and horror of the diagnosis, to the logistical stress of putting yourself in the best position to get the right care. In the end, as Anna notes, much of the coping is about the rigorous practice of acceptance and "pause." There are numerous ways you can help bring about progress in the treatment and cure of many types of cancer. Consider donating to a fundraising or educational organization such as The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or local cancer not-for-profits. For more information about Joe and Anna, or to help as they continue their battle, you can follow Anna's journey on Instagram @koevia, and/or visit their GoFundMe drive at Support Anna and Joe Tower with Medical Expenses. If you or someone you love has been touched or affected by cancer in some way, please don't hesitate to reach out with your experience by email at podcast@writewayco.com to share it with us. Rea shakes things up on another solo episode of The Real Story this week with an exploratory examination of what's ahead, tackling her own journey into and out of—and back into—the very intense hustle of mainstream publishing and the radical decision to once again bet on herself. After last week's episode discussing the #PathToPublishing with best-selling author, Megan Collins, Rea sheds all pretense, revisits the roots of her early passion for selling a manuscript and launching a book, and how, over the course of her career as an author, diminishing returns gradually started to form a much bleaker narrative. Now, with another prospective book deal on the horizon, Rea is leveraging everything to put herself first, and challenging listeners to do the same.On a final relevant note: Writeway will no longer accept new client submissions for the foreseeable future, effective immediately. All inquiries can be directed to the website, www.writewayco.com, but will be put to a waiting list. On this week's episode of The Real Story, the topic is: “Why?” Rea and Joe ask the question—of fellow writers, the community, listeners, and each other—why … why do we submit, why do we publish, and most importantly, why do we write? The answers don't come easy, and as the conversation examines both intent and purpose, it targets both aspiring writers beginning their journey and seasoned authors continually feeling the pressure to follow up each book with a new and “better” book—or in the case of most mainstream publishing in this day and age, industry veterans for whom the craft of writing, oftentimes, is nothing more than manufacturing a product.Whether you're currently working on the manuscript that will become your first formal submission, or trying to work your way through the latest in a long series of drafts, we at Writeway would love to know: what's your “why” and is it still enough to keep you working? Nothing's simple at a hotel where the ultra-wealthy tourists arrive costumed for a dozen different time periods, all eagerly waiting to catch their “flights” to the past.Or where proximity to the timeport makes the clocks run backward on occasion—and, rumor has it, allows ghosts to stroll the halls.None of that compares to the corpse in room 526. The one that seems to be both there and not there. The one that somehow only January can see.On top of that, some very important new guests have just checked in. Because the U.S. government is about to privatize time-travel technology—and the world's most powerful people are on hand to stake their claims.January is sure the timing isn't a coincidence. Neither are those “accidents” that start stalking their bidders. There's a reason January can glimpse what others can't. A reason why she's the only one who can catch a killer who's operating invisibly and in plain sight, all at once. But her ability is also destroying her grip on reality—and as her past, present, and future collide, she finds herself confronting not just the hotel's dark secrets but her own.At once a dazzlingly time-twisting murder mystery and a story about grief, memory, and what it means to—literally—come face-to-face with our ghosts, The Paradox Hotel is another unforgettable speculative thrill ride from acclaimed author Rob Hart.

Rhea Frey first book was not considered a success but she pivoted genres and began to approach publishing differently. The good side of failure. When the first book she published failed, it wasn't just a case of giving up for her. The failure gave way to an opportunity that would allow room for growth and success. Inspirational Journey. Writing is a journey. Rea's story is an inspiration tale aspiring authors and is a blueprint for helping set themselves up for success. Powerful Voice. When she released a solo episode of her podcast called "Dear Publishing Industry, Fuck You!" it became an advocate for other writers who are experiencing difficulties in the publishing industry. Memorable Quotes/Advice From Rea “Understand the business that you're about to get into. I know a lot of people say write the best story you can, and that's great. That's the fun part. But all the stuff that comes after that are the pieces and parts that components that will separate you from just writing a good story to being a successful author.”

Well listeners, it's official! This episode is the first official appearance of the Writeway Podcast as its new expansive experiment, The Real Story. This week, Rea is joined by artist, designer, and Writeway's creative director, Alex Holguin—a man who, most importantly, is also her husband. The two take the opportunity to sit down to discuss the ways their household and family dynamics have already shifted in 2022, and how they intend to continue to explore and expand their lives by breaking through social norms “set” for a typical American family. Instead, they are writing their own sacred contracts around what it means to be married, to be creatives, to be parents, partners, and friends. In some other exciting news, Rea's forthcoming release, Secrets of Our House, is launching next week, February 8. This week's episode of the Writeway Podcast puts Rea and Joe on the mic together again to chat about one of the most discussed topics humans have: purpose.Since Joe's wife, Anna's, recent cancer diagnosis, the purpose of Writeway has forced a requisite evolution, and now, the previously recorded episode regarding one of the most important questions we as humans need to ask ourselves—especially as creators—gives it a very real, high-stakes context. In working with aspiring writers, one of the foundational methods that Writeway has always touted is encouraging clients to work to discover their “Big Why,” the motivational energy behind everything they choose and seek to accomplish. Many times, this is the most difficult part of the process, and many times, we cast it aside. But this episode, and the company's new context, outlines exactly why we can't cast our “Big Why” aside. Rea and Joe boldly analyze why this particular obstacle, and laying its groundwork, are critical for walking the path in work and in life.Email us at podcast@writewayco.com and let us know: what is your “Big Why,” and how did you discover it and what has it shown you about your path?

Welcome back to the Writeway Podcast for our first episode of the New Year—and an important one. It marks a distinct passage for us into new and uncharted territory, which our host, and Founder and CEO, Rea, recounts in detail as she sets intentions for herself and the company going forward, while also using it as an opportunity to guide aspiring writers, stifled creatives, and struggling humans to setting intentions for themselves. For those of you who are regular listeners, you might have noticed that there were no released episodes the last two weeks. While Writeway did “close” for December, the reason for those absent weeks was because co-host and Executive Editor, Joe, and his wife Anna, are in the midst of her battle with an acute form of blood cancer. During the ensuing months, there will be a lot of modified content coming from Writeway as the company restructures itself to adapt to these new circumstances. We fully intend to continue to deliver regular podcast episodes, premium services, and other content we're excited to unveil this year.If you'd like to make contact with us—for any reason, whether you're a client or a #cancersurvivor—email us at podcast@writewayco.com. Boundaries are important for anyone who has a relationship with someone or something else. While the topic of boundaries, itself, is both too broad and too deep to tackle it all in a single episode, the co-hosts turn their attention during this round to the boundaries in a relationship critical to their business: the vendor-client relationship. In an age where instant gratification and being “plugged in” amounts to societal norms, boundaries become more vital than ever.Being aware of your boundaries makes clear your status and purpose in any given relationship, so Writeway wants to know how exactly you establish, enact, and enforce your own, and what, when you come up against a relationship that's testing those boundaries, you learn about yourself. I'm a Blubrry affiliate, but that's not the only reason I'm telling you this. I've been using Blubrry Podcasting as my hosting service for my podcast for years and it's one of the best decisions I ever made. They give great customer service, you're in complete control of your own podcast, you can run it from your own website, and it just takes a lot of the work out of podcasting for me. I find for that reason that it's a company that I can get behind 100% and say, “You should try this.” Try Blubrry. It doesn't require a long-term contract, and it's just a great company, period. It also has free technical support by email, video, and phone, so you can get a human being there. Isn't that nice? If you want to podcast, try out Blubrry. Debbi: It's so good to have you here. Rea: It's so nice to be here. Thanks for having me. Debbi: Sure thing. I got to say, I love your website so much. It's so clever and pretty. And I like the photo on the homepage with you holding those books that are dripping paint or something. Rea: Yeah. Debbi: I mean, it seems to be a metaphor of some kind. Rea: Yes, we could say it's a metaphor for so many different things, but yeah, it was a fun site to put together. Debbi: Yeah. Yeah. It's great. It's wonderful. I like it. And I like the idea of your show, your podcast, but we'll get into that in a second. Debbi: Tell us first about your books. How would you describe your writing? Is it domestic suspense, thriller? Rea: Yeah. It's domestic suspense, which, in all honesty, when my debut novel came out, Not Her Daughter, and they told me I was in the domestic suspense genre, I was like, "What is that? What is domestic suspense?" I wasn't aiming to write in a genre, but I always like to say I write things that basically scare the shit out of parents. I love to kind of take that worst case scenario, because I'm a parent, and really play out those fears, whether it's kidnapping, a guardian dies, someone disappears. I love playing with that and playing with morality a little bit. So I'm definitely more relationship-based instead of, you know, straight thrillers, but I technically do fall in that domestic suspense category. I wasn't aiming to write in a genre, but I always like to say I write things that basically scare the shit out of parents. I love to kind of take that worst case scenario, because I'm a parent, and really play out those fears, whether it's kidnapping, a guardian dies, someone disappears. I love playing with that and playing with morality a little bit. Debbi: Okay. Well, you know,
