The least we were hoping for ahead of last week's Europa League clash in Seville was to still be in it when we welcome the La Liga giants to London Stadium this week. A 1-0 defeat to Sevilla means we have a huge opportunity to make history at London Stadium and secure our place in the Europa League quarter-finals this week! As you all probably know by now, Will spent much of last week in Seville, soaking up the sun, sinking plenty of beers and simply enjoying the atmosphere as West Ham put on an encouraging performance against the Europa League's most successful clubs. David Moyes' men did themselves and the fans proud and now, this Thursday night, we might be on the verge of witnessing something we've never, ever seen before! And then on Sunday, in what was a somewhat surprising performance and result, West Ham beat Aston Villa 2-1 at London Stadium to boost our chances of a second consecutive top-six finish. On this week's show, the lads chat to Sevilla employee James Dowden ahead of that huge game on Thursday night, preview the victory over Steven Gerrard's cry babies, look ahead to Sunday's trip to Spurs, pick their Betway charity bets, look back at West Ham Women's 1-0 win over rock-bottom Birmingham City and, of course, praise Andriy Yarmolenko's ability to get into the right mindset to come off the bench and score in the Premier League during what must be an incredibly difficult, emotional and painful time for him and his family. Coca Cola, Heineken, me liguem!”

West Ham crashed out of this year's FA Cup in frustrating fashion with a 1-0 extra-time defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. The lack of strikers and the club's dereliction of duty by failing to sign one in January came back to bite the Hammers almost straight away as Andriy Yarmolenko failed to cut it in Michail Antonio's absence and youngster Ademipo Odubeko was given a chance off the bench only to be hooked again soon after. An irate Will Pugh is joined by James Jones and Tom Edwards straight after the final whistle to wallow in each other's misery and rue the club's lack of ambition in the transfer market. Said Benrahma gets a hammering while the boys take time to praise the positive performances by Fabianski, Craig Dawson and Ben Johnson. The lads also look back to the Mike Dean/ Tomas Soucek farcical situation at the end of the dross 0-0 draw at Fulham. The remarkable win at Aston Villa also comes up as there were three games between podcasts over the last week before focus switches to next Monday's Carlos Tevez derby showdown with Sheffield United at London Stadium. James brings a blast from the past to the table for Name That Game. And he also had a winning Betway (https://twitter.com/betway) charity bet for the Villa game. The lads make their selections for the Blades' visit before the Travelling Blade dials in for the opposition view. The Sun's Sandra Brobbey joins to dissect a grim week for West Ham Women after their thrashing at Chelsea in the League Cup and the underwhelming 1-1 draw at Matt Beard's Bristol City in the WSL. East Coast Radio — Andriy Yarmolenko's last-gasp winner settled an eventful London derby with Chelsea and delivered a huge boost to West Ham United's hopes of avoiding relegation.
David Jones is joined by James Collins and Ashley Cole to look back on West Ham's vital win over Chelsea with Andriy Yarmolenko stepping off the bench to hit the winner as West Ham shrugged off VAR controversy to give their Premier League survival hopes a huge boost.
If there was ever a week that summed up our club, it was last week. In typical West Ham United fashion, we followed up a dominant 2-0 victory over Manchester United with a 4-0 defeat in the Carabao Cup to Oxford United before taking a very respectable point from 2-1 down at Bournemouth to go 3rd in the Premier League. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has supported the club long enough to know this isn't anything out of the ordinary, but it doesn't take anything away from the fact it's still unacceptable to lose so heavily against lower league opposition. Still, we're unbeaten in the league since the opening day of the season and have a huge chance to really consolidate our top six bid with victory over Crystal Palace at home this weekend. James Jones (https://twitter.com/ByJamesJones) and William Pugh (https://twitter.com/WilliamPugh_) discussed it all in this week's show, as well as debated the impact Lukasz Fabianski's injury may have on the side's fortunes, and Andriy Yarmolenko's outstanding form in recent weeks. As always, it's a cracking show. We're now seven weeks into the FPL season and some of our widely-held assumptions are being challenged. For example, are out-of-form midfield powerhouses like Mohammed Salah and Raheem Sterling becoming legitimately dispensable? Is Manchester City rotation and playing time finally too much to anticipate? And have the lights officially gone out on the Pukki party? It seems as though we're heading into the next "phase" of the season—we'll call it Phase Two—so, this week, we evaluate what (if anything) is actually changing and how FPL managers can plan to address it. Will players like Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Andriy Yarmolenko, or Callum Wilson be important factors in Phase Two? Plus, we answer listener questions in our patented Lightning Round and preview transfer targets and captaincy favorites for Game Week 8. Hail Cheaters!
Manuel Pellegrini's 'Big Team Mentality' is beginning to shine through, and that win over Man United last weekend suggested it's here to stay. Last season we saw glimpses of it but suffered from inconsistency, which prevented us from making a serious challenge for a top-seven finish. So far this season, though, we're showing signs that we're more than capable of competing. On this week's show, James Jones (https://twitter.com/ByJamesJones) and William Pugh (https://twitter.com/WilliamPugh_) waxed lyrical about the victory over Man United and asked why the Hammers haven't received much credit for what has been an impressive start to the season. Also on the agenda was the build-up to the Oxford and Bournemouth clashes this week, discussion on whether Arthur Masuaku should come straight back into the team for Aaron Cresswell and the boys clash over who they would prefer to have in the starting XI each week: Andriy Yarmolenko or Michail Antonio? As always, it's a cracking show. West Ham were lucky to escape Villa Park with a point in the end on Monday. Especially after King Arthur Masuaku's second-half red card - which strangely made the team play better. That was the general consensus on the show this week. Sebastien Haller seemed disinterested and immobile while Andriy Yarmolenko will want to forget his night in a hurry. But after a slow start Declan Rice really came into the game while Manuel Lanzini showed no signs of the 10,000 mile round trip to Texas he made during the international break. James Jones (https://twitter.com/ByJamesJones) is still away so ever-present William Pugh (https://twitter.com/WilliamPugh_) and the returning Tom Edwards (https://twitter.com/Tom_Edwards1997) dissected the game and looked ahead to Manchester United at home on Sunday with some confidence. We heard a lot about it last season but didn't see a great deal of it. But so far this term, Manuel Pellegrini's Big Team Mentality seems to have finally arrived. The performance against Norwich last weekend was almost a complete one, with Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini, Andriy Yarmolenko and Sebastien Haller combining on several occasions to really show the world how far we've come since Pellegrini arrived in East London. And that was the bulk of this week's conversation between James Jones (https://twitter.com/ByJamesJones) , William Pugh (https://twitter.com/WilliamPugh_) and Charlie Hawkins as they dissected what's been good about West Ham so far this season and then looked ahead at what we're capable of achieving if we can consistency to our game. Also on this week's show, the boys discussed Arthur Masuaku's continued growth as West Ham's best left-back, the decision to sell Chicharito without being able to replace him and the chances of going far in the league cup after the professional victory over Newport County last weekend. As always, it's a cracking show. If you enjoy what we do every week then please take two seconds to subscribe, rate and review us on your preferred podcast platform - we really appreciate the support! Note: As it's the international break now, the boys are having a break of their own and will be having next week off. We'll see you in two weeks!

We were hoping to kick off this new show by talking about a second victory of the season for the Blues. Instead, we will be reflecting on their first defeat of the campaign. Two goals from Andriy Yarmolenko – it just had to be – put West Ham United in control at Goodison Park before Gylfi Sigurdsson gave Everton hope. But that hope was extinguished by Marko Arnautovic and while the Hammers and Manuel Pellegrini were left to celebrate a first win of the season, Marco Silva and the Blues were left with plenty to ponder. This podcast kicks off with the thoughts of our full-time Everton FC correspondent Phil Kirkbride. You’ll then hear from season ticket holder Ian Croll, who also hosts our View from the Gwladys Street podcast. There will two Royal Blue shows this week, along with a View from the Gwladys Street, before this podcast returns after next Sunday’s trip to Arsenal. Here’s hoping for a better outcome.
