Top 3 Takeaways Leaders Live in 3D—Trey has a view that leaders are comprised of intellectual, emotional, and identity dimensions. The three are highly connected, and it's key to understand these both in ourselves and in our people. The essentials are key—Three things matter most for a CEO: culture, people, and the numbers. Ensure that these are solid before you move on to other matters. Learn to delegate—Your ability to scale your business and to experience real joy in your life relies on your ability to delegate effectively. Make it a point to get good at giving your work and accountability to your team. From the Source “You can't manage someone until you manage yourself, and you can't manage yourself until you understand yourself.“ “You have to understand: how do you intellectually respond to challenges, how do you emotionally respond to challenges, and where do those two things come from? They come from an identity that you hold.“ “Every organization has a culture whether you intend to have one or not.“ “If we fix the culture and we get the right people in the door then the numbers are proof that the first two things are in alignment.“ “The burnout that [clients] are feeling is a direct result of the unwillingness to let go of both ends of the stick.” “Your team is not an extension of yourself. Your team is an extension of the mission of the company.” “If you want to grow the business, grow your people, and feel a lot more joy come into your life, delegation is the first thing.“ “If you can't delegate to someone, you either have the wrong heart or the wrong team. And one of those has to change.“ Connect with Trey Book Website: http://www.aceoonlydoesthreethings.com Book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/CEO-Only-Does-Three-Things/dp/B09HMYRD78/ Newsletter: http://www.plantyourflag.live Trinity Blue Consulting: https://trinity-blue.com/ Personal Website: http://www.trey-taylor.com Links “(Wall) Street Smarts”: https://www.top-business-degrees.net/30-greatest-living-geniuses-in-business/

Today's guest is Best-Selling author of the book, “A CEO Only Does 3 Things,” Trey Taylor. Trey learned what it meant to be a leader from working alongside great CEO's like Jeff Arnold of WebMD and ShareCare. He applied what he learned about leadership when he took over his father's financial firm after his father's surprise death. Through this experience, Trey realized that only focusing on culture, people and numbers allowed him to focus on the things that matter, and empowered his team to handle the rest. We discussed Trey's pillars of leadership and how to implement his leadership philosophy at many different levels. What you'll learn about business success in this episode:Conventional and Unconventional ways to become CEOThe Only 3 Things a CEO needs to doHow to establish a culture in a companyHow to get the most out of your peopleWhy numbers and accounting are important to the success of a companyHow to hire the right candidates to fit your company cultureWhat Trey learned from great leaders like Jeff Arnold of WebMD, and Kevin HarringtonFinding the balance between personality and cultureHow to cultivate a high-performerHow to lead with integrity and authenticity and why it is importantAbout Trey TaylorTrey is the Chief Executive Officer of Taylor Insurance Services, Managing Director of trinity | blue consulting and Founding Partner of Ascend Partners. He holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Emory University in Atlanta, a Juris Doctor degree in Tax and Corporate Transactions from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, and has completed additional coursework at St Peter's College, Oxford University in the UK, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. In 2013, Trey was named one of Georgia Trend Magazine's 40 Under 40. Have you ever wondered how to be a good CEO? Starting your own functional medicine practice seems daunting enough, but now you actually have to run the business? Luckily, Trey Taylor knows what it's like to be thrust into being a CEO. Today, he shares: How to be a good CEO How to hire people who fit well into your company The importance of having a succession plan How to delegate as a leader Why transparency with your team is essential How to Be a Good CEO Trey Taylor is a CEO, mentor and coach to business owners and other CEOs, and has varied experience in tech, venture capital, real estate, and law. He started his career as a law clerk at WebMD, which he left to pursue a career as a venture capitalist and began working for AOL. However, life had other plans for him, and, after his father passed suddenly, he returned home to run the family business–a business in which he had no experience and no desire to run. He didn't know the industry well, nor did he know how to be a good CEO. But it was out of the frying pan and into the fire. Trey knew he couldn't let his family down, so he stepped up and went on a journey to discover just what a CEO does. His journey led to him gaining the knowledge and confidence to run other businesses and eventually write A CEO Only Does Three Things, a book on being a CEO. Today, on The FM Shift, Trey joins us to discuss building a successful business and being the best CEO you can be. He shares insights into the keys of being a great leader, creating a fantastic team, and preparing for succession. What to do as the CEO of a Company You should always have a succession plan. No matter what profession you're in, it's essential to have a plan of what will happen to your company if you're suddenly not there. It's not just good for your business, but as the CEO and/or founder, you owe it to the company and the people who would be left behind. As humans, we don't want to think about what happens if we're not around, but just as you have life insurance plans for your family, it's a moral obligation to have a plan for what happens to your business. Without a succession plan, someone will have to take care of your functional medicine practice–this might be a spouse, child, sibling, or friend–and if stepping into the role of CEO was not part of their plan, it can take a toll. Everything from not knowing how to run the business to being unable to mourn their loss can cause problems for the company you worked so hard to build. So, no matter how unpleasant it is to think about a world where you're unavailable to run a business, it's a duty you have to yourself, those you love, and your patients. One Key Trait of Great CEOs As the owner of a business, it's incredibly easy to get bogged down with tasks. For some, the reason is that there's nobody available to help. For others, doing everything on your own is second nature. But one thing that all highly successful CEOs have in common is delegation. As much as we may think we're good at everything, everyone has strengths and weaknesses. So why not play to your strengths? Right now, if you're running your business alone, start taking note of what parts of the business you love and which parts you dread. For the tasks that you don't enjoy, consider hiring someone to help you complete them. This person doesn't have to be full-time, but by delegating the job, you free up time, energy, and help improve your mood and create the capacity to focus on other things. Then challenges us to find creative ways to use the talents He has given us to fix what we hate. Kathleen encourages us to step out into the calling God has for us and to go! We serve the God who sees. God sees you- now go! If you said this prayer- you are justified immediately and made right with God.Living a life to glorify God is a life- long journey! But know that right now you are saved and set free from the bondage of sin (including past, present and future sin). Nothing can separate you from the love of God and living in eternity with Him. Did you receive Christ today? If so, Congratulations! It's the best decision you have ever made.

In episode 12, I get to talk with Dan Rootenberg, CEO of Spear Physical Therapy with 20 locations in and around New York City. https://spearcenter.com I had a great time talking with Dan, and learned a few very valuable things. Dan shares some deep lessons from his journey as an entrepreneur, along with some very interesting facts around his baseball journey. Learn how Dan manages to lead a successful company through challenging times, while staying involved in international baseball, coaching little league, and being a father of three. You will also learn about a couple of his favorite business books. Reboot gets a second recommendation from one of our guests. Dan says he has learned a great deal by implementing its advice and it helped him manage and lead through this time of crises. Atomic Habits also gets Dan’s thumbs up. Dan likes it for the clear and straightforward way it allows you to assess your habits and even change them in service to your goals. It should be noted that Spear won the Practice of the Year Award from the APTA in 2016, and was acknowledged as Practice of the Year at this year’s Ascend Conference by WebPT. Dan is involved in PPS, the Private Practice Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dan.
On the eve of SpaceX's historic scheduled launch of its first human spaceflight mission — both the first ever by a private company, and the first to take place on American soil in nearly a decade — we tell the incredible story of its rise from ragtag rocket jocks to the most disruptive and advanced force in aerospace today. While much of the Musk spotlight has shone on Tesla in recent years, is SpaceX actually the company that will have the greatest impact on our world's future, and perhaps even other worlds beyond?
