What makes you feel stuck right now? How do you tackle time-consuming tasks? Today, Jay sits down with Grammy-nominated rapper, multi-platinum artist, and first-time author, Big Sean. This special episode marks Sean’s third appearance on the show, but this time, he’s here to share deeper insights into mental health, purpose, and his debut book, Go Higher, set to release in January 2025. During the conversation, Big Sean reflects on his personal battles with anxiety, depression, and letting go of control. He shares the transformative role of spiritual practices in his life and how they inspired him to write a book that offers tools for self-care, growth, and purpose. Sean opens up about one of the toughest lessons he's ever had to learn — accepting the things he can't change — and how that acceptance became his pathway to peace and clarity. Jay and Sean also explore the power of "separating self from success," where Sean explains why money isn’t the true measure of success. Instead, he defines success as the feeling of living in alignment with your purpose and positively impacting others. In a vulnerable moment, Sean discusses the grief of experiencing a miscarriage and how he and his partner found light in the darkness. He also opens up about his journey with fatherhood, the process of quitting Adderall, and how he manages trauma through intentional strategy and meditation. From music to mindfulness, Sean reflects on his evolution as an artist, a man, and now, an author. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Redefine Success on Your Own Terms How to Use Radical Acceptance to Overcome Life’s Challenges How to Separate Self-Worth from Wealth and Achievement How to Attract Purpose Instead of Chasing It How to Embrace Spiritual Growth for Mental Clarity and Peace Every challenge you face holds the seed of transformation. When you accept your reality and stop resisting, you open yourself up to new opportunities for growth. Let Big Sean’s wisdom guide you on your journey to go higher. The podcast by project managers for project managers. Burnout and resilience. How can we move beyond viewing resilience as a buzzword and dispel the notion that it involves only toughing it out or maintaining a positive attitude? Balancing project success with avoiding burnout is a real challenge in high-stress environments Dr. Marie-Helene (MH) Pelletier discusses the necessity of adopting a strategic approach to resilience by integrating psychology and strategy. Table of Contents 02:39 … Why Resilience Is Important03:45 … Do We “Tough it Out”?04:57 … If the Context is Changing, Change Your Approach08:23 … What “The Resilience Plan” Offers11:56 … Helix Shape Resilience Plan Model13:28 … Being Strategic about Resilience15:11 … Creating a Resilience Plan19:04 … Kevin and Kyle20:10 … Burnout24:10 … Can Resilience Cause Burnout?28:20 … Striking a Balance31:20 … Taking Care of Yourself34:15 … Team Resilience37:30 … Contact MH38:07 … Closing MH PELLETIER: ...most project managers, would not be in a situation where on the daily basis have to explore how everyone's feeling about everything, obviously. But they're also managing a project, managing people who are within this project, and managing themselves supporting this project. So the more we can incorporate in our observations, the very normal expected demands and expected impacts that these may have on all of us as we navigate this timeline, the more we can, again, proactively manage and be prepared to reactively manage when any one of us, to your point, feels like we need to hit the pause button. WENDY GROUNDS: Welcome, resilient leaders, to a special edition of Manage This, the podcast by project managers for project managers. Stay tuned with us today for a conversation that will reshape the way you approach challenges in project management. I'm Wendy Grounds. My co-host, who is the expert in the arena of project management, is Bill Yates; and joining us is our unflappable sound guy, Danny Brewer. Today we're delving into a topic that's the bedrock of success in the face of adversity: resilience. In the high stakes arena of project management, where challenges loom around every corner, resilience isn't just a buzzword, it's actually the secret sauce that turns your setbacks into stepping stones. If you are navigating a stormy project or just seeking to fortify your professional resilience, this episode is your compass to success because in project management, the resilient not only survive, but thrive. We're excited to introduce our guest, who is a true champion in the realm of resilient project leadership, Marie-Hélène Pelletier. BILL YATES: Yes, we are so fortunate to have her joining us as our guest. And she goes by MH, which is appropriate. It's a handy reference to mental health. The short form really is a great fit there. We love that. So you'll hear us refer to our guest as MH. She's a psychologist with a systems mind. She has both a PhD and an MBA. She has over 20 years of experience as a practicing psychologist and as a senior leader in the corporate insurance, governance, and healthcare sectors. MH's unique talent is bringing together workplace and psychology, translating concepts into key takeaways that listeners can put into action the minute they finish the episode. WENDY GROUNDS: Yes, definitely. There are many takeaways from this conversation, so let's get talking. Hi, MH. Welcome to Manage This. MH PELLETIER: I'm thrilled to be here. Why Resilience Is Important WENDY GROUNDS: We really appreciate you being with us. You released “The Resilience Plan.” It's a strategic approach to optimizing your work performance and mental health. Why is resilience so important? Why does it matter to you? MH PELLETIER: Great question, and let me provide a definition because we hear the word, we use the word. What is mostly the definition, even if we go to literature?

Thinking OTB | Thinking Outside the Box with Steve Valentine and Bernie Espinosa
This week we have the second half of the Valentine Duo, Christian, Steve's eldest son. Christian is a little more reserved than his younger brother and chooses his words carefully. This episode is very interesting when listened to alongside the episode with Chase, his brother, for how they think similarly but with different perspectives. But you only need to listen a few minutes to see how much he respects his father and how much the Thinking OTB mindset has rubbed off on him. Who he is and What his place is in the World One of the biggest takeaways from both interviews is how much their parents' worldview has impressed upon them. The Valentine household has gone through a great deal in their lives, some good and some bad. The important thing is that they've always been there for each other, and that support has allowed Christian to have a positive outlook on his future. “One of the biggest impacts on my life is the word on my arm, the word on his arm, on her arm: limitless. Like, dude, you can do anything you want if you put your mind to it. You can be whoever you want to be. You could be the richest person in the world, or you could be just a mediocre guy, but you have the choice to go forward and do it every single day. You wake up every single day and you choose who you want to be.” But even with that mindset, you have to be careful not to fall into the social media trap: “It's hard to go through and look at all these people who are influencers who are trying to be someone they're not, and not think ‘I'm mediocre, I'm not good enough.'” Being Strategic in his Communication Part of growing up is knowing when to voice your opinion and knowing when to let silence speak for you. Christian is the type of young man who communicates deliberately, a lesson he's learned from his dad and work experience. It's a lesson that some people take a long time to learn, but one he's already aware of: “Everyone's different, especially when you're talking to people. Just like learning from working at Dutch Bros, you have to be very careful of your tone with people and know who you're talking to. There could be one thing that just sets someone off completely while you're on the phone with them. You could say just one minor thing, one little joke, one little slip up and you're done: you just lost the client.” A Decade is a Long Time (When you're 18) Bernie asked him where he thinks he'll be at 30 years old, and his answer was certified 100% fresh: “Probably married? Maybe a kid? I don't know. I don't really think that far ahead, honestly.” Keep on keeping on, Christian. Want updates on future episodes and interviews? Text OTB to 602-560-7027 and connect with us! Some people will tell you that for reaching the top of a mountain, you need to first know exactly which type of mountain, than plan the exact route you're taking- and the more stops to the top you're aware of in advance- the better. Other people will tell you that it's enough to know you want to reach the top of a mountain and every moment along the way- all you need to do is just to plan your next step. Both of these opinions are probably right- but when it comes to your career, which of these approaches is right for you? In this chapter, Liat Aaronson, Chairwomen of the Zell entrepreneurship program and Partner at Marker LLC is talking about her style of career building (and mountain climbing) and both the opportunities and challenges her path had for her.

This on demand audio series is a part of the Executive Girlfriends Group Vignette Series. Chicke Fitzgerald and Erika Andersen discuss how to make your strategy F.I.T in 2011. The original live interview was 2/04/11. STRATEGY? TACTICS? CONFUSED? How many times have you sat in a meeting and heard someone use the word “strategic?” As in: “We're not being very strategic about X.” or “We need a strategic plan for project Y.” And, if your organization is like most, everyone in the meeting nods wisely, the meeting drones on, people endlessly debate how to approach the situation at hand, with – generally – no one the wiser as to what “strategic” really means. Everybody talks about strategy, but there is a big gap between discussing strategy, defining strategy and actually being strategic -- so you can accomplish something. This book helps you approach business—and life—strategically, explaining what strategy is, why it's important, and how to do it. Being Strategic offers you a step-by-step model and skills for strategic thought and action that are broadly applicable and thoroughly practical. Framed around the story of 13th-century Welsh nobles building an actual castle, and weaving in dozens of real-life examples from her practice, which has helped restaurateur Danny Meyer and many others, noted consultant Erika Andersen offers a complete course in turning around a business, or a life.
