Shelby was out sick this week, so we brought in guest/guest-host extraordinaire CASEY to save Olive from talking to herself. In this weeks delightfully explicit episode listen to Olive & Casey explain how going to the movies and taking a walk drove these two midwestern ladies to go full New Yorker and yell at strangers. And how a routine meeting with a professor became the stage for the most awkward eye contact in the history of the world. Plus Olive makes the case for Bridget Jones’ Baby being the movie of the year, and Crossroads being the movie of our generation. Listen in. As October draws to a close, it's time for us to reconvene and pass judgement on an assortment of films: Blood Father, Bridget Jones Baby, Soy Nero, Inferno, The BFG, The Girl on the Train, The Red Turtle, and The Free State of Jones. Full show notes are available at http://www.fudsonfilm.com/intermission-october-2016/
In this episode, we talk the casting of the all-female Ocean's Eleven reboot, Ocean's Eight, the trailer for Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events TV show and the casting for the new Han Solo movie. We also break down the latest in the Bridget Jones series, Bridget Jones's Baby.
The original 2 hour cut of the Sylvester Stallone starrer Cobra was exceedingly violent and bleak, so much so that the MPAA insisted the film be cut to avoid an X rating. Initially resistant, Stallone and director/producer George P. Cosmatos gave in as much to avoid the dreaded rating as to challenge the highly tracking Tom Cruise movie Top Gun at the box office. Stallone had recent hits Rambo:First Blood Part II and Rocky 4 and was under pressure to produce another hit. The heavily edited final version of Cobra did have a huge opening weekend and made money for Warner Bros. but wasn't the hit those previous films were. Dan and Vicky give us their thoughts on this trash-tastic entry in 1980's big budget sleaze. They have a few choice words for Sylvester Stallone and his script. They also recount some of their recently seen including the new Blair Witch, Bridget Jones' Baby, Dario Argento's Dracula and Mother of Tears, a pair of giallo classics Night Train Murders and Short Night of Glass Dolls, the Polish horror oddity Possession and the TV series' Atlanta and Better Things. They get serious a little when they talk about the recent spate of police violence and Dan has a bone to pick with the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Add in some great 1986 tunes and Hot Date 37, Cobra, strikes hard and fast.

What happens when three men and a feminist review the world's most unlikely protagonist? Yes, this week the team turns their incisive wit towards Bridget Jones' Baby and nothing short of high jinks must ensue. We cover a dearth of TV this week starting with the return of Jack Bauer on the other side of a terrorist act this time, possibly the serendipidous side as he is the Designated Survivor. In a titanic struggle with not singing the original theme tune the gang reviews MacGyver and reminisces on how hair in the 80s has changed yet stays the same?

Show Rundown: On this week’s episode we talk about who won, who lost and why we should care about the Primetime Emmy Awards, which were just announced last night. Then we move on to talk about our first bona fide chick flick, the third film in the Bridget Jones series, Bridget Jones Baby… it’s a poorly named film about a Brazilian man named Foxy Smith who gets a cat named Switchblade… or maybe it’s about Renee Zellweger's character from the first two Bridget Jones movies. We’ll all find out together. Then we’ll follow up on last week’s interview with the crew behind The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey, and give our reviews for the Bradley Weatherholt’s Star Wars prequel documentary. All that, and our favorite, or in this case, my least favorite headline ever to appear on this show… all that coming up.
