Today, in collaboration with Debi Fones, we bring you the story of her daughter, Deverrie Schiller. Deverrie was murdered in June of 2016, and, since then, Debi has been fighting for answers as to what happened. With a lack of suspects and a police force with even fewer resources, it has been an up hill battle, but Debi won't stop until she sees someone arrested for her daughter's murder. We share this story in the hopes that this will happen, because whether the DA wants to move forward or not, Debi is sure she knows who killed Deverrie. LIFF komt eraan! Welp. Due to technical difficulties with Blake's mic, the audio is a little wonky on this one. Jamison goes in and out of sounding like an automaton while you hear everything Blake does including clicking a mouse and breathing. My apologies for this. We were only willing to put so much effort into this low-effort podcast. Nonetheless, Jamison and Blake talk about sleep while having kids, American myths and their theme parks, and the good feeling parents get when their kids are overjoyed to see them. Then we turn our attention to the next two films in the McDonagh Bros. filmographies, War on Everyone (2016) and Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017) and their requisite controversies and how non-American directors and writers write about America and what it has to teach us about the bullshit myths we outsource to other countries. Tune in (despite technical difficulties) for what was an enlivening conversation. Clip from War on Everyone (2016). --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/flybyfilms/message

On the newest episode of Comics and Chronic we are covering Oscar nominee The Banshees of Inisherin from writer/director Martin McDonagh. Up first how do most of our episodes start? Is this Sound of Music episode? What musical theater did Jake and Cody do as kids? When did Antony start performing? What drove us to the stage? Is Anthony the next Humphrey Bogart? Is this the most soundboard heavy episode of the podcast? Why did Anthony watch In Bruges while he was on shrooms? In what context did Cody watch Three Billboards? Is this our number one movie for the year? Is the story behind Banshees silly? How are Colin Ferrell and Brandon Gleason's performances? What are Anthony's crazy takes in this episode? How is this movie paced? What made the cinematography so stunning in this movie? What war is taking place during this movie? Does this movie have copaganda? Why did Dominic kill himself? Which characters are cultured? Why is Cody young forever? How does this movie parallel Jake and Cody's relationship? Who would be who? Who in The Batman should Brandon Gleason play alongside Colin Ferrell? What Batman villains would we be? Who has a happy ending in this movie? Is Jake short? Who is Brian-Michael Key? How short is Barry Keoghan? Who in Anthony's life did this movie remind him of? Did it ever get to the point of murder in the film? What did the witch predict? What pushes Podrick to snap? What did the community think of Colmsom Larry's choice? What do we think of the movie 3000 Miles to Graceland and why does it have such a star-studded cast? Is it the nonsense that keeps Jake and Cody's relationship alive? Could we survive on Inisherin? Would we be content on that island? Is safe dullness better than dangerous excitement? How did Anthony end the podcast as the villain? What movies do we love from 2022? Check out our website: https://www.comicsandchronic.com/ New episodes every THURSDAY Follow us on social media! What are the best movies with a number in the title? Join us for the latest edition of the Movie Mount Rushmore Podcast as hosts Nico Lurot (@Nico Lurot) and Anthony "AJ" Jordan (@TonyNTR) are here to discuss the TOP 10 Movies with a number in the title. From international spectaculars like Zero Dark Thirty, to grizzly stories like Seven, award winners like Three Billboards outside Ebbing Missouri and fan favourites like 40 Year old Virgin. This Rushmore show is brilliantly vague when it comes to genres and makes for a seriously ecclectic selection of AMAZING movies! Do you like the Dudes? Then we rejoin to count down our individual lists where one person delivers their bottom 3 movies, then the other delivers their bottom 3. Then the original person delivers his next two, then the other person their next two. When we reach the top 5s on our list, we bounce back and forth and trade one a-piece. If at any time we are counting down our lists, one person has a movie in a higher position that person will say " PUNT" and we will then talk about that movie when we get to the higher position. Once both of our TOP 10 lists have been counted, we create the "Movie Mount Rushmore": these are the 4 quintessential, diverse, must see-see movies of the topic each week. We then put our 4 picks out on Twitter, and YOU all decide who the winner is! To vote, head on over to our Twitter page @MovieMtRushmore! For this episode, The Movie Newbie dives into the world of Martin McDonagh's dark comedy Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri. A spit-fire screenplay, almost written to perfection by McDonagh, Three Billboards offers incredible performances from across the board, including a scene-stealing Sam Rockwell. Frances shines in what can be her finest performance to date, giving us her raw power and brutality as well as her vulnerability and sensitivity, delicately balancing and juggling the nuances of an incredibly layered character. There's no better way to see off this theme than with this hilarious and devastating story about a mother seeking justice.***JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of various projects in the audiovisual sphere. This week on the pod Jeff, Dave, & John discuss The Banshees of Inisherin, writer/director Martin McDonagh's first Irish-set feature film. It was time to return to the land of the Eire. Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, Barry Keoghan- all Irish- star in a tale of friendship, conflict, loneliness, legacy, and feckin' pub life. This movie is goddamn good. Go see it, then grab a beer and listen- or watch on YouTube- along with us! Playwright and filmmaker Martin McDonagh, best known in cinema for his breakthrough comedy-drama In Bruges and, most recently, the critical and financial success of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, on which we podcasted twice, reunites with the stars of the former for an exploration of a male friendship, its dissolution, and the subsequent fallout. The Banshees of Inisherin offers something of a chamber play: it might not be set in a single room, but the titular island of Inisherin is isolated, barely populated, and promises little by way of escape or a future. Brendan Gleeson's Colm begins to feel this keenly, and abruptly declares his hitherto long friendship with Colin Farrell's Pádraic over, intending to devote his life to his music. We discuss how depression might play into his actions, the role of the island in inhibiting ambition, the difficulty an intelligent actor has in playing dumb, the balance of comedy with drama in comparison with McDonagh's other films, the peculiar masculinity of the way the breakup plays out, how the story might be seen as a modern myth, and how convincing the sense of place is. There's a lot to admire about The Banshees of Inisherin, which is arguably McDonagh's best film, and (equally arguably) his least flawed - which sounds like damning with faint praise for a filmmaker whose work is typically interesting and novel, admittedly, but those flaws have sometimes cast large shadows over otherwise wonderful work (looking at you, Three Billboards). Here, such issues are easier to accept, and it's consequently easier to enjoy the film's achievements. In short - see The Banshees of Inisherin. Recorded on 23rd October 2022.

Law Day. Most things come down to the law as Chief Bill Willoughby explained to Mildred Hayes in the Academy Award-winning movie, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. This outstanding 2017 movie about dysfunctional cops and a racist community is a springboard for outstanding discussions with smart guests. Troubadour Dave Gunders has a song titled Your Way Too which is all about seeing things from different perspectives. That is the heart of the Three Billboards movie and we discuss the story and why it is so powerful. Lindasue Smollen is a veteran Boulder trial attorney who watched the movie and it sparked her to action. Lindasue bought two billboards advocating against assault weapons. What moved her? Sandy Hook. It should have moved everybody. Now the very danger Lindasue warned about has come to her hometown and she has reacted. Two more billboards. A great discussion ensues about bad police behavior videotaped in Loveland against a 73-year-old lady with dementia. Want to look at things in a different and better way? See an eye doctor. For decades, Dr. Craig Farnsworth was a busy sports-loving Denver optometrist who was great at golf. Then he started working with Nuggets and other elite athletes. Next, Craig helped golfers like Nick Faldo win multiple Masters with his putting tips. Now, he just coached DJ and Hideki to winning Masters.
