Get a grip. That's my advice today to the people complaining about the music festival planned for the area near Bottle Lake Forest, in Christchurch, over the new year period. Because I think the organisers are treating you very well and going above and beyond. The Rolling Meadows festival is normally held at Waipara, north of the city, but the organisers hope to have it in Christchurch for the first time this year. And because it's near people's homes, there have been complaints and there's even a petition doing the rounds, with people worried about the noise and disruption. The organisers have listened and they've done a couple of things. Which I'll get to. When I was thinking about where I stood on this, I almost settled on the side of the residents, because of the numbers. The number of people expected to attend and the number of vehicles that are expected in the area over the three-day period. They're not insignificant. Up to 10,000 people are expected to attend, with 5,000 expected to camp on site, and 4,000 vehicles a day are expected on the only public access to the festival car park. So there's going to be a lot of people converging on that area over those three days from December 29 to 31. But what I came back to is it's just for three days. Three days when quite a few of the locals are likely to be away on holiday, anyway. Three days when the organisers are going to be bending over backwards to try and keep these people happy. First of all, they've offered to pay for alternative accommodation for residents. They're also going to hire people to patrol the streets, deal with rubbish and keep homes safe. What's more, it's understood they've gone even further and have also offered to finish the performances earlier each night and reduce the noise levels. That's still not good enough, it seems. Which might be making the organisers a little bit nervous because they're yet to get consent from the city council. They say that if that doesn't happen, they'll just go back to having it in Waipara. Sure, the music blasting late into the night might be a pain in the backside if you're not into it, but it's just three nights. Good on the Rolling Meadows organisers for going the extra mile. Some people though, will never be satisfied.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This month I got very solid mix from UnPunk from Boston Mass who now stays in the 303 "The Bass Capital". Denver, Colorado is widely recognized as the "Bass Capital" of the world, specifically due to its thriving dubstep and bass music community. However, the city's electronic music scene is diverse, encompassing various genres, including Drum and Bass (DnB). UNPUNK, as a DnB artist, has established a presence within this vibrant scene. UNPUNK has performed at Denver's renowned Black Box venue, known as a hub for underground music in the city. One such event, "Old Sound x QVLQV x PresDNB," featured UNPUNK performing a back-to-back set with Negative Concept. Not every corporate DJ gig is about packing the dance floor. Sometimes, your real value is in creating the perfect background vibe that enhances the experience without overpowering it. In this episode, we break down why mastering background music is a key skill for successful corporate DJs. From curating smooth, professional playlists to setting the right energy level, reading the room, and understanding event flow. We cover what it takes to deliver for events where dancing isn't the focus. Whether you're DJing a networking event, a corporate brunch, a VIP reception, or a showroom launch, learning how to create a polished non-dancefloor atmosphere can set you apart and keep corporate clients bringing you back again and again.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/we-create-the-vibes-podcast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

In this episode of Hey Sis, Eat This, Whitney and Courtney catch up after Whitney's European adventures, including a trip to Italy, Cannes and Copenhagen. Whitney recounts her most memorable travel moments including a panty dropper basil risotto in France with Daddy Ashley, biking in Copenhagen to the incredible Reffen food hall and a thrilling gin and tonic fueled rollercoaster ride at Tivoli Gardens. Courtney dives into the dinner party she hosted with Momma Ashley for her daughter Vivi's 6th grade graduation. Momma Ashley was determined to make her famous mustard shrimp which calls for tarragon vinegar. After visiting five grocery stores to finally find this must have ingredient, the shrimp didn't turn out as expected, leaving her wondering if the universe was telling her to skip the dish altogether. Court also recounts a recent dinner at a hot pot restaurant with her good friend Lisa Ling. With a condiment bar full of delicious options and a noodle-making performance topped off with a larger than life dancing panda bear. In this episode of Poducer, we sit down with Artie Do Good — a genre-bending producer, trombonist, educator, and storyteller who fuses live jazz instrumentation with electronic music and deeply rooted political themes. From his early days throwing ska shows in Kenosha to composing orchestral works in NYC, Artie walks us through his evolution as an artist, educator, and community builder. We dig into the influence of Chicago's DIY scene, the impact of labor movements and socialist philosophy on his music, and the creative process behind his powerful album Socialist Dance Party. We also explore the intersection of soulful composition and beat production, his dual life as a teacher and performer, and the growing movement of emotionally intelligent masculinity (aka himboism). Plus, he shares unreleased tracks, stories of musical mentorship, and memories of transformative shows like D'Angelo at Afropunk. Links:

The Nigerian singer, songwriter and bandleader and Seun Kuti keeps alive the Afrobeat tradition founded by his legendary father, Fela Kuti, back in the 1970s. In fact, when Fela died in 1997, it was Seun, his youngest son, who took over the band, now called Egypt 80. Like his late father, Seun Kuti takes on topics like government corruption and corporate greed in his songs, setting his lyrics and his blazing sax solos to an insistent dance beat. Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 play tunes from their most recent album, Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), in-studio. Set list: 1. Stand Well Well 2. Love and Revolution 3. Emi Aluta
