When human power crumbles, where will you place your hope? We have arrived. Our final devotional is 1 Samuel 31:11-13: But when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard what the Philistines had done to Saul, all the valiant men arose and went all night and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and they came to Jabesh and burned them there. And they took their bones and buried them under the tamarisk tree in Jabesh and fasted seven days. — 1 Samuel 31:11-13 At the close of 1 Samuel, we read about an unexpected act of courage in the shadow of our tragedy. The brave men of Jabesh-Gilead, the very people Saul once delivered from shame and destruction in his first act as king (1 Samuel 11), embark on a daring mission to retrieve the desecrated bodies of Saul and his sons. Risking their lives, they travel through enemy territory to honor the memory of the king who had once been their redeemer. They bury his bones beneath a tamarisk tree, a poignant reminder of Saul's rise and fall. This moment is rich with contrasts. Once, Saul sat under a tamarisk tree (1 Samuel 22:6), spear in hand, commanding authority. Now, his remains rest beneath one—a reminder of our human frailty and the futility of misplaced hope. The people's demand for a king “like all the nations” (1 Samuel 8:19–20) ends with that king stripped of glory, buried by night, and mourned in ashes. Yet, this is the end of 1 Samuel but not the end of the story. Saul's death points us forward. While Saul's kingdom was shattered by sin and pride, David's rise offers hope. But even David—Israel's greatest king—would fall short. No matter how noble, every human king serves as a shadow of the true King to come. Centuries later, another King would face humiliation, stripped and mocked by His enemies, His body hung for public scorn. But unlike Saul or any of Israel's subsequent kings, Jesus bore no sin of his own. He died not for failure but for the redemption of ours. His death was not the end but the turning point in history. Rising from the grave, he defeated death, securing a kingdom that will never fade. We end 1 Samuel learning one central and vital lesson: Hope in kings, presidents, and leaders will fail—hope in King Jesus will prevail. Don't put ultimate hope in human power. It will let you down every time. Only King Jesus reigns with perfect justice, eternal love, and unshakable victory. Saul's tamarisk marked his end, but Christ's empty tomb marks a beginning—a King with a kingdom without end. #KingJesus #EternalHope #TrueDeliverance Ask This: Where have you placed your ultimate hope—in human leaders or in the eternal reign of King Jesus? Mesha tells how Chemosh, the god of Moab, had been angry with his people and had allowed them to be subjugated to the Kingdom of Israel, but at length, Chemosh returned and assisted Mesha to throw off the yoke of Israel and restore the lands of Moab. Mesha also describes his many building projects. It is written in a variant of the Phoenician alphabet, closely related to the Paleo-Hebrew script. The stone was discovered intact by Frederick Augustus Klein, an Anglican missionary, at the site of ancient Dibon (now Dhiban, Jordan), in August 1868. A "squeeze" (a papier-mâché impression) had been obtained by a local Arab on behalf of Charles Simon Clermont-Ganneau, an archaeologist based in the French consulate in Jerusalem. The next year, the stele was smashed into several fragments by the Bani Hamida tribe, seen as an act of defiance against the Ottoman authorities who had pressured the Bedouins to hand over the stele so that it could be given to Germany. Clermont-Ganneau later managed to acquire the fragments and piece them together thanks to the impression made before the stele's destruction. The Mesha Stele, the first major epigraphic Canaanite inscription found in the region of Palestine, the longest Iron Age inscription ever found in the region, constitutes the major evidence for the Moabite language, and is a "corner-stone of Semitic epigraphy", and history.[7] The stele, whose story parallels, with some differences, an episode in the Bible's Books of Kings (2 Kings 3:4–28), provides invaluable information on the Moabite language and the political relationship between Moab and Israel at one moment in the 9th century BCE. It is the most extensive inscription ever recovered that refers to the kingdom of Israel (the "House of Omri"); it bears the earliest certain extrabiblical reference to the Israelite god Yahweh. It is also one of four known contemporary inscriptions containing the name of Israel, the others being the Merneptah Stele, the Tel Dan Stele, and one of the Kurkh Monoliths. Its authenticity has been disputed over the years, and some biblical minimalists suggest the text was not historical, but a biblical allegory. If the Old Testament had its own Mount Rushmore, who do you believe would be on there? I believe strongly that at least two would be Abraham and David. It would not be an exaggeration to state that David was Israel's greatest king, both in his political prowess and mightiness as a ruler, but more importantly in his submission to the will of God and following of the Lord's commands. King David is stated in scripture as being "a man after God's own heart," which was exhibited in his lifetime and time again by his reverence, obedience, and wisdom toward God's command. I believe that I have a list of seven life lessons one can learn from David's life and apply to their own.

PROTESTERS MARCHED in the streets of Israel again this week, protesting the judicial reform bill being pushed through the Knesset by a conservative coalition led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party. What most outsiders don't understand is that secularists in Israel orchestrated what amounts to a coup through the court system years ago, when the growing influence of religious Jews became obvious. In a piece published this week by the Jewish Press, journalist David Israel recalled a remarkable 2016 interview with MK Israel Yitzhak Eichler of the United Torah Judaism party that explains what's happening: “I complained once to a former justice minister about the activism of the courts, who were intervening in legislation without the authority to do it, disregarding the separation of powers. So he told me, ‘Listen, forget this nonsense. When we realized that [religious Jewish parties] are getting stronger, we realized you were going to conquer our state. And we had two options: either declare a military coup d'état, or a judicial coup d'état… ‘So we decided,' he told me, ‘to shift the balance in all the government ministries to favor the judicial system' — empowering the Attorney General, the State Prosecutor, the government legal advisers, the attorneys, because the legal system doesn't rely on the masses — ‘And that's how we'll save our country.' And they did it.” In other words, liberals in Israel, realizing that they couldn't get the votes for their agenda, took over the country through the courts. The bill in Knesset would rein in the power of Israel's Supreme Court, and that's why activists, many of whom have flown to Israel from other nations, are trying to turn the country upside down. The same thing has happened in the United States through the backing of George Soros for radical left-wing district attorneys, who have enormous power to decide which cases to prosecute at the local level. Without winning a majority in Congress or on the Supreme Court, the laws of the United States have been fundamentally shifted to favor certain groups over others. And the U.S. State Department is doing the same thing through its Global Equality Fund, sending taxpayers' money to groups pushing the LGBTQI+ agenda in other countries. This episode of the book of Matthew begins his account by giving Jesus' genealogy (Matthew 1). He then tells of Jesus' birth and early years, including the family's escape to Egypt from the murderous Herod and their return to Nazareth. The conception and birth of Jesus Christ are supernatural events beyond human logic or reasoning. Because of this, God sent angels to help certain people understand the significance of what was happening. Angels are spiritual beings created by God who help carry out His work on earth. They bring God's messages to people (Luke 1:26), protect God's people (Daniel 6:22), offer encouragement (Genesis 16:7), give guidance (Exodus 14:19), carry out punishment (2 Samuel 24:16), patrol the earth (Zechariah 1:9-14) and fight the forces of evil (2 Kings 6:16-18; Revelation 20:1, 2). The angel declared to Joseph that Mary's child was conceived by the Holy Spirit and would be a son. This reveals an important truth about Jesus - He is both God and human. The infinite, unlimited God took on the limitations of humanity so He could live and die for the salvation of all who would believe in Him. Bethlehem of Judaea: The city of David [Israel's greatest king]. Bethlehem signifies the "house of bread," the fittest place for Him to be born who is the true manna, the bread which came down from heaven, which was given for the life of the world. written by the prophet: Taken from Micah 5:2, where it is foretold (700 years earlier!) that though Bethlehem is little, it shall be found not the least among the princes of Judah.
