Drew & Chella discuss video game remakes and remasters, inspired by Drew's latest dalliances with Resident Evil 2, Spyro and others. It turns out that remakes aren't as new as we might first think, but began with ports from arcades to the very first home gaming machines.  What makes a good remake and how many of them are in the Resident Evil series? A successful trailer is not only a preview but an exciting sales pitch to existing and would be video gamers. Major studios and independents flock to E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, to present upcoming video games and console releases.  The media reports and fans drool over what is always a great time of the year. In this episode, Chis and Jerry discuss a few notable game trailer showcased at this event we only hope to one day attend.      1. Resident Evil:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-WFOJK7h4g   The trailer was quite boring and reminiscent of a 90’s Nine Inch Nails movie video instead of a product sales pitch to consumers. There was a lot of random disturbing imagery without much reference to the game.    Cool aesthetic but the inclusion of gameplay footage would definitely lent itself beneficial to the fan fare of what looks like a return to the original Resident Evil concept.          2. ReCore:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnKT9ZCGgBE   Awesome E3 game trailer. At the very start, the music prepare us for the adventure we are experience with this character and his/her many gadgets and par core skills.    The use of game play footage in this particular trailer entices the viewer more as it appeases  both the senses of sight as well as the sense of hearing — it was the perfect onslaught of “yeah, you wanna buy this game.”  Don’t know what it’s about though but what does that matter, right?     3. We Happy Few: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc67_BrCdPc   Great trailer from a game from a different time. I just knew something was about to happen when these vaudevillian characters repeatedly strikes this piñata pig over and over again and it doesn’t sound hollow.    Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5PpUB3fU8s   Does this game look like Bioshock to you. There is some sort confusion among gamers who are comparing the two as they share an artist look.      4. This trailer includes behind the scene footage and game play imaginary.      5. Nowadays, people who are unable to attend physically are able to stream the event at their homes or at participating movie theaters. So although we may no be in attendance, we can all pseudo immerse ourselves within the environment and enjoy the fervor of the moment.   We both agree that music and gameplay are crucial to a video game trailer.
