Joel Schoch was born in 1991. He started playing the piano at the age of 9. He finally fell for composing music in the context of his High School graduation work, where he composed the music for the musical "Verbutzt". After a preliminary course in film music in Bonn (DE), he studied "Film and Media Music" at the Hogeschool van de Kunsten in Arnhem (NE), before completing his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in "Composition for Film, Theatre and Media (FTM)" at the Zurich University of the Arts. During his studies he wrote music for ensembles of various sizes,  composed music for games, wrote a children's musical and composed a 3D radioplay.His soundtrack to the award-winning indie computer game Far: Lone Sails, which was released in 2018 for pc and in 2019 for playstation an xbox, became known to a wider public. For the soundtrack he got a nomination for the German Developer Award in the category: Best Sound.Support the show

He was immediately smitten by the games muted color palette, striking vistas, and phenomenal score. Half-Life 2 was the first game to use Valve's Steam content delivery system Episode One was released on June 1, 2006 Episode Two was released for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on October 10, 2007 as part of the compilation The Orange Box. Valve released Half-Life: Alyx, a virtual reality (VR) game, on March 23, 2020, for Windows. Hal-Life Developement: According to designer Harry Teasley, Doom was a major influence, and the team wanted Half-Life to "scare you like Doom did". D.J. just got back from not playing any games at PAX West, and boy, are his arms tired! Meanwhile, Randy investigates the spooky doors of Control, and a strange boat makes its way across the wasteland in Far: Lone Sails.

This week the starts off with a bang, as Rick, Tim, and Patrick begin what seems like an innocent discussion of the now-delayed Switch release of Decay of Logos, but quickly turn it into a lively debate about the responsibilities of reviewers who have received codes for broken games. Those interested in getting a peek behind the scenes of a website like Goomba Stomp will get a good dose of multiple philosophies on how to handle publishers and what is owed to the readers. It's a lengthy back-and-forth, but we think it's worth a listen! After all the arguing, things settle down with some previews from PAX West, as Tim relates some of the indies he got a chance to try out in person, and Rick delivers a review of FAR: Lone Sails for the Switch. This indie revolving around a child operating a steampunk-ish transport across post-apocalyptic landscapes is reminiscent of Inside, but finds its own way to be one of the most relaxing, enjoyable games of the year so far. This week's episode ends with Patrick's first impressions of Astral Chain. Does he agree with Brent's enthusiastic review, or has this sci-fi action game not managed to arrest him quite yet? Tonight we change things up a bit and instead of recording the Game of the Month show…  we are in fact doing a normal style show. By normal… I mean we are recording with a Tam who has been day drinking.  We start off the discussion with Dauntless that just launched on the 24th… and by launch I mean it is a free to play game going into open beta which is absolutely a launch.  Ash talks about Hyrule Warriors on the switch and his experiences playing through it and all of the new content that came from the 3DS version. Tam talks a bit about Far Lone Sails a game where you drive a sailboat train and constantly keep moving ever steadily to the right.  Finally we talk about games as escapism and this turns into a far darker discussion than I had intended it to.
