Is there any way the second Avengers movie could live up to the hype of the first? Probably not, but it certainly isn't the disaster history remembers it as. MO LIGHTNING joins the show to talk about this much maligned MCU Phase 2 entry!

As the Beyonder, I gather 3 jackasses (and close personal friends) and make them pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against one another. Only they don't know what they'll be up against. A fun game to entertain mostly ourselves and hopefully you to.

Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
It's taken 21 movies, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe finally has its first solo female superhero. And Brie Larson's Captain Marvel has certainly been causing quite a splash in the lead-up to her big-screen debut. Now that she's here, we take it upon ourselves to investigate whether the film actually succeeds in bridging the Earth and cosmic sides of the MCU, how it plays into Avengers: Endgame and all that sweet, sweet 1990s nostalgia. Kerri Jones returns to the show to help us break down the feminist message at the heart of directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's entrance into the MCU, condemn the vitriol being hurled the film's direction by a certain segment of the audience and peek ahead at what Carol Danvers' big unveiling has to say about the future of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. So throw on your favorite Nine Inch Nails t-shirt and let's take a journey back to the 90s for Marvel's latest superheroic thrill ride. Captain Marvel synopsis, courtesy of Marvel Studios: Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. Bam Pow's third season is quickly wrapping up and it's almost fall TV time again! We're here talking about Jessica Jones (s02e13)'s last episode plus our thoughts on the season as a whole, then it's over to Luke Cage (s02e08) where we continue the discussion on why Netflix should either write shorter seasons or borrow SHIELD's story arc ideas. Seriously, Netflix, call us we have great ideas! On the more magical side of the show, it's as always Earp O'Clock (Wynonna Earp s03e06) and it's apparently Christmas in August. Last but never least, Monica regales us with Preacher (s03e06) has pretty much turned into the Cassidy show and she's digging it! All this plus starting next week we're diving back into Young Justice and Earth's Mightiest Heroes since our show load is lightening up.
In two movies, Disney and Marvel, (kinda) redefined or rather reintroduced the sympathetic villain into the mainstream zeitgeist: Kilmonger and Thanos. We may not like the pain Thanos inflicts on Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers Infinity War but you gotta like the guy; he has conviction and purpose. Sure he's crazier than a raccoon climbing a skyscraper, vicious, and a bit of a psychopath. However, he's also compassionate and empathetic. Violence is just the result of the many obstacles impeding the progress of best-laid plans. Not to applaud his efforts and eventual success but there is reasoning to his logic and it's rooted in the history of our world and The Good Book. What's on the Menu: How Disney solved the villain problem with Thanos? Thanos sympathizes with the plight universe, but are his motives are not without some truth filled obscurities? Thanos’ logic may be unsound but it’s not without reason if you read the Bible. Likable but unlikeable villains With Infinity War, the Marvel Universe just expanded into the Marvel Infinite. My theories on where the MCU cinematic universe goes from here. Weekly Gratitude: Live each day as if it were your last, and don’t listen to this stupid statement. Live each day with the intent of seeing tomorrow and continuing to exist, create, and love. Links: Comcasts hostile bid for Fox. Who is Adam Warlock? Flava text: Ashes to ashes dust to dust.
Superheroes, Movies & Superhero Movies: A Cinema Heroes Podcast
Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In 2012, Marvel Studios did something no one had yet dared to do: Make a movie filled with superheroes who had all already had their own standalone films. A few months back Jenosaur and I (Stevil) were invited to do a panel at the North West Fan Fest by our friend Casey White of ShogunGamer.com, to talk about pop culture's effect on today's media, so basically comics, comics and more comics. On this panel I had the pleasure of meeting Aaron Golden, co-founder of Living Myth Magazine and writer of the column 'God of Comics' and honestly, I don't know why it took so long to have him on the show. His story of Warren Ellis pitching Next Wave to Marvel solidified his spot in the guest chair alone. I had the chance to chat with Aaron over Skype and we settled into some pretty deep comic TV and movie discussions about all the negative reaction to Gotham, why he'd checked out of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and he enlightens me on the "fat guy with a power ring" movie that opened the door for Christopher Nolan to reboot the world's greatest detective. Delving into the comic pages themselves, Aaron tells us his origin story. From learning to read with a Transformers comic, getting a Batman recommendation from an unlikely source, to becoming a novelist himself, our guest shows and proves his knowledge and gives us an abundance of food for thought. Check out Aaron's God of Comics column here: http://livingmythmagazine.com/blog/category/reviews/goc/

One topic that lasted a long time was discussion of local gaming stores – those places where you can buy table top games of all kinds, sit around and play an RPG with friends, or flip the Magic: The Gathering Cards until the wee hours of the morning. The realization that the closest stand alone gaming store (a store that doesn’t sell comic books or video games) was 150 miles away from the Major Spoilers HQ brought the mood way down, and it made us wonder how many others were in the same situation. Is there a dedicated game store (not video games) within 50 miles of your home?
