The police department's Gun Violence Response Team stopped what they called a suspicious vehicle in front of a home in the 1400 block of Minson Way, in the Joy Park area in the East Akron neighborhood, just before 11:30 p.m. Police said they saw what appeared to be Uzi and AK-47 rifles in the open trunk of a vehicle that had five occupants, all teens between ages 15 and 18. As they detained the occupants, police said a large crowd formed around the officers and became aggressive and made threats, with officers calling for backup. Four of the five teens were not charged and released. It's wild to be able to talk to an artist only days after falling in love with a song. Well, that's just what happened to me when I got to interview Snow Ellet. Someone had tweeted Snow's song "To Some I'm Genius" into my Twitter timeline and it blew me away. I rushed to DM Snow to set up an interview and two days later we had this conversation and I'm very glad we did because did we just become best friends? YEP. We talk about writing songs, recording his EP Suburban Indie Rock Star, dealing with sudden notoriety in the emo sphere, and we get really nerdy about recording in Logic. Brigadier General Alfred Washington Ellet was born on October 11, 1820 and the 200th anniversary of his birth is this year (2020). Ellet began investing in El Dorado in 1873 and made many trips to visit his son, Edward (E.C.) Ellet, before finally locating Butler County. Along with his son Edward, and friend Nathan Frazier, he helped organize the Bank of El Dorado, which eventually became Farmers and Merchants Bank. His last name may sound familiar to many because it was bestowed on the building he had built for El Dorado - The Ellet Opera House. The Ellet Opera House opened in 1884, and became the cultural heart of the city. It was the location of most public entertainment, from lectures by prominent speakers and political speeches to commencement ceremonies and church services. The Ellet Opera house was also host to talent shows and grand balls, as well as opera singers and eventually vaudeville. Brigadier General Alfred Washington Ellet was born on October 11, 1820 and the 200th anniversary of his birth is this year (2020). Ellet began investing in El Dorado in 1873 and made many trips to visit his son, Edward (E.C.) Ellet, before finally locating Butler County. Along with his son Edward, and friend Nathan Frazier, he helped organize the Bank of El Dorado, which eventually became Farmers and Merchants Bank. His last name may sound familiar to many because it was bestowed on the building he had built for El Dorado - The Ellet Opera House. The Ellet Opera House opened in 1884, and became the cultural heart of the city. It was the location of most public entertainment, from lectures by prominent speakers and political speeches to commencement ceremonies and church services. The Ellet Opera house was also host to talent shows and grand balls, as well as opera singers and eventually vaudeville. Lapset hyppäävät vähän väliä vieressä ja ehkä päivän aikana ei muista pukeutua saati meikata. Miten ihmeessä tällaisessa tilanteessa, arjen keskellä voisi ajatella brändiä? No itse asiassa tämä on täydellinen tilanne ajatella sitä. Koska juuri nyt meillä kaikilla elämä on muuttunut. Juuri nyt on enemmän kuin koskaan ymmärrystä inhimillisyydelle, luonnollisuudelle ja sille että nyt palataan vähän juurillemme. Brändäyksessä kyse on siitä, että saat ihmiset tutustumaan sinuun, että tulet esiin aitona omana itsenäsi verkossa. Tiedän että monella kuva brändäyksestä on luoda jotain tiettyä mielikuvaa, joka ei välttämättä ole se ihan aito totuus. Mutta älä sinä tee sitä. Brändäyksessä olennaista on auttaa ihmisiä tutustumaan sinuun ja antamaan maistiaisia siitä sun ydinosaamisesta. No nyt kun verkossa kilpailu jatkuvasti kasvaa, aktiivisuus on se mikä ratkaisee. Eli mitä voisit nyt siis heti, saman tien, tehdä oman brändisi eteen? 1. Yksi iso juttu brändäämisessä on kuvamaailma. Kuva kertoo enemmän kuin tuhat sanaa. Ja kuvan kautta sinuun pääsee tutustumaan paremmin. Mutta mistä nyt saisi kuvia? Etenkin jos korona-aikana et pääse kuvauksiin tai et halua ottaa kuvia kotona. No se mitä voit nyt tehdä, on lähteä vaikka lapsen tai puolison kanssa kävelylle ja pyydä häntä ottamaan sinusta kännykkäkuvia metsässä, penkillä, minkälaista ympäristöä teillä sitten onkin. Ota kuvissa kasvojesi ympäriltä pois huivit hatut ja lasit, jotta silmäsi ja kasvosi näkyvät. Suosittelen laittamaan meikkiä ennen kävelylle lähtemistä. Valokuvissa sitä kannattaa olla vähän normaalia enemmän. Ellet sitten halua mennä ihan au naturel -linjalla, mikä myös on ihan ok. Sinun ei tarvitse katsoa kameraan, mutta pyydä apulaistasi vaikka näpsimään useita kuvia, ja liiku hitaasti niin saat erilaisia ilmeitä. Kuvia voit käyttää missä vain somekanavassa. Ja okei nämä eivät todellakaan korvaa ammattilaisen ottamia kuvia, mutta myös tällaisia kuvia voi käyttää sosiaalisessa mediassa. Ja se mikä näissä on se juttu, on se että nämä eivät ole selfieitä. Kun teet kuvassa jotain etkä vain poseeraa, niin kuvaankin liittyy jokin tarina. 2. Ota videoita kotona. Teippaa vaikka puhelimesi ikkunaan (näin pääset hyötymään luonnon valosta) ja katso että taustalla ei ole ihan hirveä sotku. Muutaman minuutin videon voi tehdä vaikka päällään seisten, siis kuvainnollisesti. Asiantuntijana keksit varmasti, mitä voisit sanoa. Älä lähde tekemään täydellistä videota, vaan kuvittele että lähetät videon asiakkaallesi, jolle haluat antaa tsemppiä, sparrata häntä ja jakaa jonkin käytännön vinkin. Tai vastaa johonkin useimmin sinulta kysyttyyn kysymykseen. Tärkeintä on, että persoonallisuutesi pääsee esiin ja että vinkkisi on hyödyllinen katsojalle. Mieti tätä nykytilannetta, missä ihmiset juuri nyt ovat, miten voisit omalla osaamisellasi auttaa juuri nyt? Ja jos haluat viedä tätä ajatusta pidemmälle, mieti missä somekanavassa voisit esiintyä videolla säännöllisesti. Jos otat kerralla vaikka 4 parin minuutin videota, sinulla on noin kuukaudeksi videoita julkaistavaksi, jos julkaiset niitä kerran viikossa somekanavallasi. No tiedän, että videoinnin aloittaminen ei ole helppoa. Itse kärsin aivan kamalasta kamerakammosta kun vuonna 2014 aloitin videoiden tekemisen. Nyt olen päässyt kammosta ja pystyn olemaan oma itseni videoilla. Mutta videot ovat huikean hyvä keino brändätä itseään, sillä videoissa saat parhaiten esiin oman intohimosi siihen mitä teet, ihmiset näkevät minkälainen olet ihmisenä, sinun persoonallisuutesi ja olemuksesi. Ja kun saat itsesi esiin, sinulta katoaa kilpailijat. Kyllä, tää kuulostaa rajulta väitteeltä, mutta se on totta. Kun ihmiset tutustuvat sinuun, aitona omana itsenäsi, kun he luovat yhteyden sinuun, kasvaa myös luottamus. Ja sinusta itsestäsi tulee se väline, jolla erotut kilpailussa. Kukaan ei nimittäin voi olla sinä. Vaikka sinulla olisi satoja kilpailijoita, kukaan heistä ei voi olla sinä. Tarina voi olla onnistumisesta tai epäonnistumisesta. Negatiivisesta tai positiivisesta elämänkokemuksesta. Tuo tarinassasi lukija pimeydestä valoon, jätä hänelle hyvä fiilis. Mitä opit kokemuksestasi? Mitä merkitystä tällä voisi olla omalle kohderyhmällesi? 4.  Onko sinua haastateltu viimeisen vuoden aikana johonkin podcastiin tai lehteen? Esiinnytkö jollain videolla somessa? Youtubessa esimerkiksi? Mistä sinut voi löytää verkossa? Linkitä johonkin haastatteluusi ja kerro siitä jotain. Mitä ajatuksia itselläsi on haastattelusta? Mitä kerrot haastattelussa? Miksi se kannattaisi katsoa tai kuunnella? 5.  No sitten viidentenä: palvelusi. Mitä voisit niistä juuri nyt puhua? Oletko saanut palautetta asiakkaaltasi? Voisitko pyytää palautetta? Mitä jos lähettäisit nyt heti kysymyksen asiakkaillesi, suosittelisiko hän sinun palveluitasi? Tai mikä hänen kokemuksensa on, mitä hyötyä hän on saanut palveluistasi? Se, mitä palveluita tarjoat ja kenelle, miten olet paketoinut palvelusi, luo mielikuvaa sinusta osaajana. Mikä on se ydinjuttu, missä intohimosi on? Mitä haluat yrittäjänä tehdä nyt ja tulevaisuudessa? Minkälaisena osaajana haluat tulla tunnetuksi? Miten haluat että sinua suositellaan eteenpäin? Mikä on se asia missä autat ihmisiä, ja minkälaisia ihmisiä? Mitä ytimekkäämmin saat kerrottua palveluistasi, ilman rönsyilyä, sen parempi. Sen vahvempi brändistäsi kasvaa. Eli mitä selkeämmin ihmiset ymmärtävät sen, mitä teet, sen parempi. Jos teet monenlaista monenlaisille kohderyhmille, sen sekavampi mielikuva osaamisestasi syntyy. Kaikkea kaikille ei koskaan ole hyvä strategia. Jos nyt sulla on sellainen olo että et tiedä mikä on se fokus, se ydin, niin aloita rajaamalla jotain pois. Mitkä ovat sellaisia asioita, jotka tulet rajaamaan palveluistasi lähivuosina? Mitkä palvelut ovat ytimessä ja mitkä siitä vähän kauempana? Eli tämä viides tehtävänanto nyt taisi hieman rönsytä. Palveluistasi voit puhua monella tavalla, mutta jos nyt tämän päivän tehtäväksi poimisit yhden. Tässä siis tehtävä, konkreettinen sellainen: mieti mikä on ollut mieluisin projektisi tai asiakkaasi viimeisen vuoden aikana. Jos et vielä siitä saanut palautetta, soita nyt heti asiakkaalle. Pyydä häneltä palautetta palvelustasi. Tai kysy puhelimessa, mitä hyötyä hänelle palvelustasi on ollut. Heti sen jälkeen ja pidemmällä tähtäimellä. Kirjoita se ylös ja pyydä lupaa käyttää sitä markkinoinnissasi. Ja julkaise palaute somessa. Jos et saa asiakastasi kiinni niin kerro tarina asiakkuudesta vaikka nimettömänä. Puhu mitä ongelmia asiakkaalla oli ja miten ne ratkaisit ja mikä oli tulos. No tässä oli viisi julkaisuideaa, jotka pystyt toteuttamaan vaikka heti. Mutta jotta et julkaisisi viittä julkaisua nyt heti samana päivänä, mieti josko tekisit nämä julkaisut eri kanavissa, tai josko ajastaisit ne eri päiville. Mieti myös, missä kanavissa asiakkaasi ovat aktiivisimmillaan. Itse suosin somekanavina Facebookia, Linkediniä ja Instagramia. Jokaisessa kanavassa on omat hyvät puolensa. Ja nämä viisi julkaisua sopivat niistä jokaiseen. Paitsi instagramissa videon pituus voi olla maksimissaan 60 sekuntia (ellet tee IGTV:seen jossa videot voivat olla 60 minuuttia. Livenä voit tehdä myös 60 minuutin pituisia videoita). Ja jos teet videoita, kannattaa miettiä, perustaisitko niille Youtube-kanavan. Mutta tässä näin lyhyesti tällä kertaa. In 1848, she published her most important work: “The Women of the American Revolution”. Today, Ellet is perhaps known best for the scandal she leaked about Edgar Allan Poe’s rumored affair with Frances Sargent Osgood when both were married to other people. Leaking this story didn’t help her at all. Poe maligned her in the press, knocked her writings, accused her of plagiarism, and even referred to her as “short and fat”. In print. Today’s story was taken from a Danish folk tale that Ellet has spiced up with lively characters and wonderful atmosphere. It’s on the short side, but delivers some wonderful chills along the way. :26 - A proposed ordinance in Akron City Council looks to crack down on barking dogs. Residents whose dogs won’t stop barking can receive a $100 and possible jail time. Some agree with this measure, and others, including Tara Samples who joined Ray, disagree. 7:36 - The council member who proposed the ordinance, Russ Neal, also came on with Ray. 16:52 - Tony Gotto is the head coach of the Barberton Magics, and he joined Ray to talk about his team. The Magics are 6-0 and they take on an improving 5-1 Ellet team this weekend. 21:02 - The MLB playoffs are all set, and the Cleveland Indians are set to take on the Houston Astros in the ALDS. Bob DiBiasio, VP for the Tribe, talked to Ray about how the Indians will fare against the defending world champs, as well as Bobby D meeting Wayne Newton out in Las Vegas. 31:55 - A quarter of the NFL season is in the books, and the Cleveland Browns have a record of 1-2-1 through four games. Fred Greetham from the Orange & Brown Report discussed the season so far, including the play of rookie starting quarterback Baker Mayfield.

A West Virginia school during Patriotism week made a sign about their opponent from Pittsburgh. They made the sign red white and blue, and the sign read, "Trump Perry." It did not say, "WE HATE BLACK PEOPLE." A football banner is intended to intimidate the other team. My high school was Ellet High School so Ellet rhymed with Smell iT. As our mascot was a giant Orange Hulk, and we were known as the Orangemen, we often saw many signs about "Squeezing the Orangemen." Our arch rival was Springfield High School. Springfield had a lake. So we called students from Springfield, "Swamp Rats." I guess by today's standards we were bullying when we played the fight song after a touchdown. I can't believe this made the news. Instead of the superintendent from the WV school writing an apology, they should've suspended the LIBRARIAN for being a narcissist and making everything about her, and for not being able to process any opinion besides her own. While I can't "tell you how to feel" you should be willing, and wanting to hear the other side of a story and be willing to participate in a dialogue. In early June of 2007 I accepted a Morning Meteorologist position at WOAY in Oak Hill, West Virginia. Just 3 months later I became one the youngest Chief Meteorologists in the country after I was promoted. A short time later I was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation from the American Meteorology Society. In November of 2008 I started a new adventure in tornado alley. I accepted a Weekend Meteorologist position at KHBS/KHOG (40/29 in Fort Smith/Rogers, AR). I enjoyed my time in Arkansas in front and away from the camera, but it is was time to get back to my roots in the Midwest. I talk with coach Cody Ellet from Broken Arrow high located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Coach Ellet has some amazing facilities and the admins and parents of that district are definitely on board for the tigers. Lots of good topics we discuss like programming for tiger athletes, training tools he uses, speed and agility workouts, mobility drills, and recovery as well. Lots of good insight into his program.  Cody Ellett has been the director of Strength and Conditioning for Broken Arrow Public Schools since January 2014. As director, he works with all 20 varsity sports as well as many junior high sports in developing strength, speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, flexibility, recovery, and nutrition. Cody came to Broken Arrow in 2014 from The University of Tulsa where he spent two and a half years as a graduate assistant for strength and conditioning.   While at Tulsa, he assisted with the football’s training sessions, along with directing all facets of the women’s rowing, men’s golf, and both cross country teams training. He earned his Master of Arts in Education in December, 2013. Prior to his tenure at Tulsa, Cody spent a summer working with The University of Louisiana- Lafayette strength and conditioning department, working exclusively with the Cajun football team. In the spring of 2011, Cody served as an intern at North Dakota State University, working with the Bison football, wrestling, softball, and track and field teams. Prior to his career in strength and conditioning, Cody was a student athlete at The University of Central Oklahoma, playing five years of varsity football and earning his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
