Learn more about your ad choices. When Jenny's family moved into her grandmother's five-bedroom home in Pampa, Texas, they expected creaks and quirks—not hauntings, plagues, and a back bedroom that breathed like a beast. From a cereal-box Ouija board that turned hostile to windows that showed scenes from another century, Jenny's childhood was anything but ordinary. Add in a rotating cast of spirits and biblical levels of infestation, and you've got a house that didn't just creak—it groaned under the weight of something dark. Hijo mio has estado en Tololo Pampa.

Greetings my friends. Spring has sprung in Atlanta. Everything is covered in the yellowish glow of pollen. Fortunately, I've doubled up on allergy meds this year. It seems to have helped. I haven't lost my voice once this season, knock on wood. Even after a 4 hour show at the Wings Cafe & Tap House on St Patrick's Day. I call that a HUGE win. In the meantime, I've got a little challenge for you. It's simple, it's soulful, and it's rooted in the music we love. It's called the Celtic Spring Challenge, and it's happening all through the month of April. Here's how it works:

Narrating the whole story from the entry of Sri Rama into the forest round about the Pampa lake down to the entry of the monkeys into the cave, and complimenting Svayamprabha on the hospitality shown by her and wishing to repay her hospitality, Hanuman inquires of her if he can be of any service to her. Svayamprabha, however, declines his offer saying that, being engaged in the practice of virtue, she has no purpose to achieve through another.Recitation: 00:00 -05:24Translation: 05:28 - 13:03

Thank you for your podcast. I discovered Celtic music in the 1990s in France with a french band that has since disappeared, Tonynara. I could be wrong but I don't think I've ever heard it on your podcast. This group remains a reference for me and I can only advise you to play one or two songs at the next opportunity. Thanks !” Caleb Cotter sent a photo: "Hi Marc, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for featuring the Irish Lassies' music this year. You've introduced me to so many incredible artists, and I truly appreciate that! I've also been really enjoying your Dancing with Hobbits album—it's fantastic! You definitely nailed it with that project, and you should be incredibly proud of it. You've always encouraged us to send over recommendations, so I wanted to share one with you: My friend's band, The Mad Ferret from Edinburgh, UK. They're amazing, and I think you'd really enjoy their music. Here's one of my favorite tracks that I think you'll love. Also, the Lassies would like to send you something in the mail as a thank you. Could you please share an address where we can send it? Wishing you a wonderful New Year and thank you again for everything you do for the Celtic music community!” Patrick Rieger emailed photos: "Hi Marc, Some more celtic musicians from the family's renaissance festival season, this time the Pittsburgh Renaissance Festival. Pittsburgh is a small faire, but the musicians are still great. We could only spend one day there, so we didn't see them all. We did get to see The Reelin' Rogues, The Craic Show, Sarah the Harpist (Sarah Marie Mullen), and just as we were leaving at the end of the day, Magnus and Maggie. Despite the musicians and us seeing each other one or two times a year, we still get to be friends. Big smiles. Daniel from the Craic Show wanting to clink glasses at the Pirates Pub. Sarah and my wife Gayle got into a conversation about environmental issues.”

Brad Welton of Sierra Vista, AZ emailed to ask about upcoming trips. initially. I told him about my Celtic Invasion of Galicia, but of course, that is moved back until 2026. We're going to Wexford, Ireland this summer. He followed up and wrote: "Ah Ha, thanks for the web address for the Celtic Invasions. I will check it out. Thanks Marc! I still have a number of iPod's that I keep working, My favorite is the Shuffle. I use it to play your podcasts whilst out bicycling. The tunes really pump me up; especially needed for longer distance, more strenuous rides. Thank you for all of your hard work over the years. I have recently been listening to some of your early recordings and hear you rejoicing at reaching #60 or the like, and think, 'man, you wouldn't believe what you have accomplished by now'! You have been so prolific." John Thompson emailed: "Hi Marc, Best of luck with your upcoming surgery. And thanks again for another wonderful year of music on the podcast. Hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (with a quick recovery)." Elise of the band Charmas wrote: "Honestly, Marc, the times are changing. I'm watching it happen and not sure what to think going forward. The pandemic lockdown shattered peoples' long - standing traditions and now stepping right back into those shoes feels as unsatisfying as attending a previously - loved concert that now has only half attendance. Charmas' clientele for performing at Irish parties aged out and they simply aren't having parties anymore. St. Pat's is a dying holiday. Bagpiping is still going strong but the Highland Games events haven't rebounded to their former size and it's hard to get new generations excited from scratch. Bands like Tempest are still playing for their longtime followers. Bands like Altan have provided so much great instrumental music that there's enough supply in the world to last forever, without more being produced. If Celtic musicians want to get fed by playing music, they have to create something new and necessary for the next generations. I have no idea what that should be, but I think the best way to get peoples' attention is to create music that is truly innovative, relevant, and useful! It's a good challenge if we decide we are up for it :)"

Davida emailed about Patreon: "Hi Marc, I have been a listener of your show for several years and really love it! You do such a fantastic job of bringing us varied and beautiful music, I can't thank you enough. I listen to it while I'm knitting old and new Scottish patterns. I don't think that I have any Irish or Celtic ancestry, but I've felt the music since I was a little girl. I have been supporting you on Patreon, but I just received a notice that they are changing the monthly donation to only one dollar. I remember hearing you say that donations could be made a different way and it would be more beneficial for you, so can you let me know how that would be? It doesn't make sense to me to give you less money! Thank you so much and again please know that you do a fantastic job." Sean Malloy of Band o'Brothers emailed photos from the studio: "Merry Christmas Marc! And thanks so much for including "Christmas Time Again" in Episode #690, "Light a Candle in the Window." We're honored to have our music played alongside all the wonderful musicians on your podcast. When I saw the title of this week's podcast I thought perhaps you had included our song "On Christmas Day," which begins with the line "We light a candle in the window for weary travelers to find their way." But I was pleasantly surprised to hear that you also have a tune featuring the Irish Christmas image of a candle in the window. I find it to be such a lovely symbol of hope, hospitality, and mindfulness of people who are not with us but hold important places in our hearts. We've been spending some time at Bonehead Studio in our hometown of Cheshire, CT lately (pictures attached) and we hope to have our new album ready by February - so new music in time for St. Patrick's Day. You'll be among the first to know when we release it. Thanks again and Merry Christmas," David Tustin had a song request: "Marc, You asked an interesting question. Don was a God loving person, loved his family and encouraged cat and dog rescues. He also enjoyed Scotch Whisky! The best song could be one of your cat drinking songs or maybe you know of something better for your podcast. Taing mhòr!

When Sri Rama approached the Pampa lake, the sight of the lovely surroundings intensified his pangs of separation from Sita. Put in mind of Sita, he laments for her. Living with his ministers on the summit of the Rshyamuka hill, Sugriva catches sight of the two princes and gets alarmed. Recitation: 00:00 - 21:37 Translation: 21:44 - 51:16
Hanuman inquires of Sri Rama the purpose of his visit to Pampa. Having narrated to Hanuman his life story, as urged by Sri Rama, Lakshmana tells him that cultivation of friendship with Sugriva, in pursuance of the advice of Kabandha, was the purpose of their visit to the Pampa. Observing that Sugriva was in a predicament similar to the one in which Sri Rama found himself placed and as such stood in need of Sri Rama's sympathy and goodwill, Hanuman resumes his real form and, placing Sri Rama and Lakshmana on his shoulders, reaches Rshyamuka. Recitation: 00:00 - 06:02 Translation: 06:05 - 15:54
Sri Rama and Lakshmana visit the hermitage of Sabari on the bank of the Pampa in the forest named Matangavana, receive her hospitality and go round the the forest with her. Casting her body into the sacred fire, Sabari ascends to the heavenly world. Recitation: 00:00 - 06:03 Translation: 06:07 - 15:20
