Why Take Advantage of Public Relations Influence is taking up an increasingly prominent role, and you might be wondering why you continue to use public relations. This question is asked by several brands, including some of our clients. That's why I've decided to explore these questions with you. As many of you probably know, I am no longer at the beginning of my career, and I, like you, see how the web and social media are evolving. I'm certainly one of the last people at NATA PR to watch traditional television and read certain printed newspapers and magazines. However, like my younger colleagues from Generations Y, Z, and A, I continue to evolve and read numerous publications on my computer and tablet. I particularly enjoy discovering how major media outlets use social media, such as The New York Times, Le Monde, Vogue, and many others. So, why continue to leverage public relations? 1. First and foremost, to continue maximizing your online visibility. 2. To avoid ceding the entire space to your competitors. 3. To continue communicating intelligently. What do the major companies you admire do to increase their visibility? 1. They implement online and traditional advertising programs. 2. They develop both organic and paid influencer programs. 3. They use public relations, especially for print media (20%), but primarily for their online presence (80%). So, why deprive yourself of public relations? If you don't communicate with journalists in your industry and never support their publications, don't be surprised if they don't talk about you. However, if you continue to send them relevant information and content, they will continue to cover you and your updates. At NATA PR, we only develop a proposal with a public relations program, of course, complemented by an influencer program (organic and paid). These programs share many commonalities and converge at fantastic opportunities. Recently, the Elle Canada team, to whom we sent one of our clients' complete Khol collections, had fun with our client's products on their TikTok account. See, this is just a small example, but it's only possible if you have an integrated public relations program in your marketing plan. If you establish a partnership with an influencer and use them in one of your advertising campaigns, know that traditional media outlets and many magazines will be interested in this news. Once again, if you don't communicate what you're doing to traditional media, these visibility opportunities will not be extended to you. Major brands and your competitors who understand how to benefit from public relations are communicating with these journalists and will get the visibility you are looking for, If you're not among these propositions, it's as if you don't exist. Also, if you're interested in exploring a part of our program, I invite you to sign up for our Workshop/3-DAY Challenge. It consists of three short 30-minute presentations where you can start writing your press release and finding journalists and influencers. The link is at the bottom of the episode. Download Episode There is currently a growing information gap between the so-called baby boomers (born before 1965-ish) and generations Y (born early 80s-90s) and Z (born near 2000). In past cultures important information and learning were passed from parents and grandparents to children. In those days culture was based on something very different than it (more...) With the impact of the current inflationary environment at hand, we look at the latest cohort of consumers: Generations Y and Z. These two baby boomer-sized generations have given us insights into how consumerism has evolved today. What else might investors want to know as they continue to incorporate today's top brands into their portfolios? And can these consumer spending trends help to stabilize the global economy? On this episode of Disruptive Forces, Kevin McCarthy and John San Marco, Senior Research Analysts and Portfolio Managers, join the show with Anu Rajakumar to discuss their views on how this consumer spending megatrend is shifting the retail landscape. On this episode, Sabine VdL interviews Robin Kiera, the most renowned European FinTech and InsurTech influencer. He set up Digital Scouting in 2017 as a platform that now has 400,000 followers – which is not insignificant in this industry. Robin is a thought leader, an entrepreneur, and a senior leader who has worked in finance for years and gives practical tools and techniques around lessons to learn in the FinTech and InsurTech sectors. KEY TAKEAWAYS Life can be ironic. I don’t like marketing agencies guys and I really despise consultants! I started as an insurance sale agent, from the ground up on commission for selling insurance policies on the streets of Hamburg. I always said, between me and the CEO of Allianz are 27 different levels of hierarchy, between me and the one below me was just the street. I saw a huge gap between what insurance can be: helping people, protecting them against risks in our lives, and the reality of selling insurance which didn’t have a lot to do with the desire and the demand of the buyer. At the beginning of the month, we had a list of clients to call, but the lists had nothing about their situations. We were not in the minds of our clients, they were going to banks and building societies. When I founded Digital scouting years later and we were crushing it on social media, we found our clients were standing in line. I remember thinking this is quite a different way to sell than I was doing previously. We started a blog with thought leadership pieces, went to conferences all around the world, and brought ideas back home from entrepreneurial start-ups so we can sell our policies like iPhone or other Apple products. We have very good, brilliant people working in the insurance industry. But it seems to me that most insurance ecosystems – in countries like Germany, France, Britain, USA – have nothing in common, no exchange, but there are so many interesting use cases in Britain, France, and the US that I really wanted to get to know what’s going on. I wanted to see the international trends. That’s what made me want to bring these great ideas back to Germany. When I announced that I was leaving Allianz to go into an online gaming company that has only been around for 3 years, people were calling the company doctor to see if I was feeling OK. How could I leave that security? Sometimes you lull yourself into a false sense of security. Once I decided to start my own business, I just had to do it because you can still go back to great stable and corporate jobs in this industry or another sector. I don’t want to regret anything when I lay my head on the pillow for the last time. BEST MOMENTS Everybody says: “We don’t sell products, we consult”. Yeah, alright, let’s talk at the end of the year.’ ‘People tell me “Robin, you’re the rebel of the industry”.’ ‘I think everybody likes frictionless transactions, not just Generations Y and Z. And their tolerance when it comes to incompetency and friction is certainly getting lower, which I think is just right.’ ‘There were no downs in building my business, we always grew organically. Any downs were brought about by my own stupid mistakes, like keeping a bad tax advisor for too long... things like that.’ ABOUT THE GUEST Dr Robin Kiera is the Founder and CEO of Digital Scouting, a consulting and marketing agency based in Germany. Robin is an author, renowned speaker, entrepreneur, and top-ranked insurance, and finance influencer. He started Digital Scouting as an after-work hobby that exploded positively and became a multimedia B2C, B2B, and B2B2C consulting and marketing agency – supporting entrepreneurs, c-suite executives, and start-ups in their digital transformations, market-entry, hacking the attention of customers and partners through digital media. Before being recognized as the “Attention Hacker” in the insurance and finance industry he was labeled as the “Rebel of Industry” radically exposing the elephant in the room through targeted topics tackled via his on-stage rants, videos, and blogs. Being genuine with his contributions he was recognized in top industry rankings, supported by more than 140,000 followers when he started generating 16 million of reaches every month. PODCAST - Blueprint for Success – Young Startups by Dr. Celeste Fabrie This podcast is dedicated to you if you are thinking of starting your own startup company. Great advice for Generations y and z! I will be giving you an overview of the most important dos and donts of the business as well as giving you some good advice. • But first of all let us define what a Blueprint for Success really means. 1. Let us focus on the word „Blueprint“ According to the Cambridge Dictionary a blueprint is a (PLAN FOR the FUTURE) or a complete plan that explains how to do or develop something: 2. Very concise. But what does success mean? Cambridge says I quote: the achieving of desired results, or someone or something that achieves positive results. Now it becomes even more challengeable: • What does „Start Up“ mean? According to Cambridge: The term startup refers to a company in the first stages of operations. Startups are founded by one or more entrepreneurs who want to develop a product or service for which they believe there is demand. Generations y, and z are the focus of our discussion today. We will begin with the term Startup. Startup became a popular term in the 1990s and early 2000s business boom with brands like Microsoft or Apple scaling up at a faster pace than ever seen before. Thus, it's also safe to assume that the first startups were the Silicon Valley companies, Startups encounter several unique options for funding. ... Venture capital firms and angel investors may help startup companies begin operations, exchanging cash for an equity stake. In practice though, many startups are initially funded by the founders themselves. We have a lot of digital natives out there who want to be no 1 in the business with their new creative and innovative ideas: For many of you the quicker the better. But this is where the problem often lies as the solid ground work stages are not taken care of. It is like a baby must suddently learn to walk before it even goes through the crawling developmental phase. Now let us do this little test. There are 20 Questions. Can you identify with some of these obstacles re your start-up or young business? Just tick the box mentally if this applies to you. (You can check the questions later as well underneath the youtube video description). 1. Do you have a vision? 2. Are you a creative person? 3. Do you have think out of the box mentality? 4. Are you a clear communicator? 5. Have you Lost Focus on Primary Goal? 6. Do you have a Poor or Slow Execution? 7. Is there a Lack of Customer-stakeholders Engagement? 8. Do you experience Poor Teamwork? 9. Do you have a trusted mentor or coach? 10. Is there a High Employee Turnover Rate? 11. Do you have a Lack of Adaptability? 12. Have you a poor or No New Product Development? 13. Do you have Leadership ability and a clear goal? 14. Do you have An established, compelling company culture? 15. Do you have a strong Willingness to hear feedback? 16. Do you lack an adequate business plan? 17. Have you solid funding support? 18. Are you able to realize your goals within 3 years? 19. Have you got a good medical plan? 20. Are you ready for change when things go wrong? Now if you have answered yes to more than 50 % of these questions then you are in serious trouble. This ist he time when we have to recalculate our strategy. There is a marvellous saying from Schwarzenegger himself which I would like to share with you: “To be successful, however, you must be brutal with yourself and focus on the flaws.” Now let us focus on those flaws why things are not turning out the way they should. 1.) Here come the dont's - Why do most startups fail? According to business owners, reasons for failure include money running out, being in the wrong market, a lack of research, bad partnerships, ineffective marketing, and not being an expert in the industry. Ways to avoid failing include setting goals, accurate research, loving the work, and not quitting. The main Reasons for F --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bronwyn59/message
— We are limited by outdated gender stereotypes, both men in their lack of access to a wide range of emotions and caregiving and women in their limited access to leadership and power. It's in our best interest to move towards flexibility and being instrumental or nurturant as circumstances require. This means we stop telling boys not to cry or be like girls and stop telling girls to be nice little ladies. We need to encourage girls to go into leadership and STEM fields of science and technology and boys into caregiving professions. The consensus of our experts is that boys and men are not permitted to show vulnerability. This prejudice shuts down even being aware of some emotions, which is why EVRYMAN and other men's groups begin with identifying body sensations. Asking for help may require being vulnerable, which fits in the “threat to masculinity” danger zone. This fear of being perceived as weak contributes to men's health problems and a higher suicide rate. Being shut down emotionally also inhibits men's intimate relations with people they love, one of the reasons why women in English-speaking countries are much more likely to initiate divorce than men. Femininity is seen by sexists as weakening to precarious masculinity and can increase the fear of intimacy. Progress certainly isn't a straight line upward, as evidenced in the sexist cult led by Donald Trump. George Simons finds in international surveys that about one-third of men support gender equality. Gayle Kimball is hopeful because Generations Y and Z tend to not limit themselves in regards to their gender roles or skin color. They have models to emulate as they assume more political power, learning from Nordic gender equality programs, Danish emotional literacy instruction for children, research on boy's development (like that done by Andrew Smiler and Warren Farrell), and supportive groups for boys like those developed by Jerry Tello and Ashanti Branch. Promundo and MenEngage provide models of how to involve boys and men in activism for gender equality for all human beings. When you have more than 30 years of industry experience, like I do, numerous examples come to mind when this Law of Division is mentioned. To illustrate this rule, I've chosen to return to the media universe, because I think it's the most obvious example, and the easiest to understand. As a starting point, I often like to mention during training sessions that it was much easier for PR and marketing professionals to develop media strategies 30 years ago, before the Internet. There were much fewer “windows of visibility”, as I like to call them. Think about throwing a huge rock into the middle of a lake and the ripples reaching every bank. With a big enough budget, this was possible. For example, major groups swore by an advertising-only approach and paid little attention to what PR agencies were doing. With an advertising budget alone, big brands could easily showcase their products everywhere by purchasing advertising space on five traditional platforms: Television Newspapers Radio Magazines Billboards However, the Internet completely changed the game. In addition to these five platforms (which still exist), now each of these traditional media has its online version, their own website, a mobile version and now social media (theirs and yours): YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google. Consumers have to make choices – which we call division – between these twenty or so different platforms. Choosing a platform to promote a product is often complex, because each of them targets a different audience. This is why customizing messages and ads for Facebook, Instagram, TV and newspapers is important. This work of marketing and public relations professionals is very complicated, because you often have to pick your battles if you don't have the resources to be active on all these platforms. Companies like car maker Honda have made the most of this division by creating a new brand, Acura, for its luxury vehicles. This has enabled the company to generate excellent results in two completely different markets. I encourage to you take a look at the Polestar brand, which made the decision to market itself as a stand-alone brand with its own dealerships rather than as an electric car model by Volvo. In the beauty sector, Clarins took positive steps by creating a completely new product line, MY Clarins, which offers more natural, vegan and organic products targeting Generations Y and Z (30 and under). Welcome to the Calm Edged Rebels podcast. Trudy, Jenni and Advita are back with season four of our award-winning podcast. In our weekly podcast, we share our views on the big subjects for professional communicators, leaders and coaches. We also take the opportunity to share topical issues with you. In our news section Advita and Trudy talk about meeting up at events, in person or virtually, including the recent Big Yak un-conference and the Diversity in PR conference. What are the benefits of meeting up in person and what do we get out of events? We also announce an exciting new podcast. Our big topic is all about the role of technology in our lives and the way it's changed our behaviours. We're aware of the important role technology played in connecting us through the pandemic, but did the rapid rise of virtual working mean we failed to create the behavioural rules needed to know how to use technology with good grace? Why do we feel more ‘human' when we meet in person and how do we build those human traits into our meetings and interactions when we're using technology? We talk about the implications for meeting etiquette, the role of vulnerability and connection and the potential for gaining more social advantages from technology. 65 is Not the Right Time to RETIRE The reality nowadays is that Baby Boomers have turned its back on the belief that 65 is the right time to retire. As a matter of fact, most of them want to work well into their 70s or their 80s or even yet, they might never retire. Baby boomers are born between 1946 and 1965. So, most of them are now in their 70s and the youngest would be 54. Boomers will definitely hold a lot of the most senior and best-paying jobs in the workplace. But some of them won't retire, simply because either they haven't saved up yet or are just not ready to hang it up. 5 Generations in the Workforce With the trend of those people in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s deciding to stay with their jobs and never retire, it resulted in a new occurrence of more generations in the workplace. That is why today, many workplaces are composed of five generations: * Traditionalists – born before 1946 * Baby Boomers – born between 1946 and 1965 * Generations X – born between 1965 and 1980 * Generations Y, or Millennials – born between 1981 and 1995 * Generations Z – born between 1996 and 2012 That mixture will certainly provide benefits in terms of the wide range of ideas and knowledge from a broad group of people that can actually serve the workplace well. Bridge Jobs: Why it Might be Ok to Never Retire The article, Report: 85% of Baby Boomers plan to work into their 70s (and even 80s), talks about something called bridge jobs (e.g., teaching, social work, counseling). Basically, it’s a bridge between full-time work and retirement or a temporary or short-time job right after your full-time career. People who are attracted to these jobs are usually people who aren't fully ready for retirement. In addition to teaching, social work, and counseling where they have more say over what they’re doing, there’s also second careers such as real estate agents, driving, music, or writing. Those bridge jobs are like we’re looking at what we’ve done in our past, 20 or 30 years in what every field you did and seeing an opportunity that will open up to us. The big question in this matter is, what do I want to be when I grow up? Because we are now allowed to ask ourselves that question once again. You don’t have to be 10, 20 or on the verge of entering college for that matter. What's Going to Happen to the Younger People? We have so many people that want to work. So, what's going to happen to younger people? The generations X, Y, and Z? Do you think it’s going to be difficult for them to find a job because of this? That is one of the fears and myths that exist. There are a lot of job openings, job availabilities and they’re going to be looking for different classes of workers. Those jobs are not going to be limiting one or the other, especially if you’re doing a bridge job. If I get a job as a real estate agent, that’s not going to prevent a young real estate agent from entering that field. If I get a job working for Uber, that’s not going to stop a younger person from working for Uber. And if I’m writing, that’s not gonna stop you from writing. That is because we’re going to have different styles. Why are People Choosing to Work Longer and is it Going to be a Problem? It’s in our own minds that we think that if there are many people who chose to never retire, it’s going to be a problem. These are fears that are established from somewhere that just don’t have any reality in life. There are negative misconceptions around older workers that must be dealt with. One persistent idea is that boomers are standing in the way of younger talent moving up in an organization.

Read here in 18 points why and how your mission and vision can become your most profitable investment. LESS INERTIA –MORE MOTIVATION AND PERFORMANCE PROBLEM Why do your employees resist the necessary change? You yourself are fascinated by your vision for your company, but your employees are less so? The power of countless habits is directed against your vision? Obligation prevails over an intrinsic motivation? Almost every change in your business model and processes requires enormous power? The deeper meaning and societal contribution of your business are hardly seen, understood and felt by anyone?? SOLUTION What is fascinating for you and your team about your company? Without an attractive vision of your future, people always withdraw to the familiar when faced with challenges, even if it is no longer sustainable. Employees then do not deal with the future, but with the many small annoyances of everyday life. In your mission, determine the driving force and the meaningful purpose of your company. What contribution do you make for improving the lives of people? Develop a positioning that makes your company unique and significant in the market. In your vision, set an ambitious and challenging aspiration for your future significance in the market and in the world.. LESS ANXIETY AND DOUBT –MORE CONFIDENCE PROBLEM Why do you and your employees worry so much about your future? You know that fear is a bad guide and yet you feel a lot of it in your organization? Are your employees worried about many phenomena in your environment, such as disruptive competitors, artificial intelligence and robotics, or political conflicts? You hear and sense doubts about the sustainability of your business due to a lack of differentiation, missing contingent strategies, a too traditional business model and unconvincing future-opportunities?? SOLUTION What fears and doubts about the future have you systematically discussed and credibly dispelled? While it is clear that most events you fear will not come true, it is dangerous to ignore threats. From a psychological point of view too, it is absolutely necessary that you and your employees express your worries and face whatever threat: What exactly is the threat? Where and how would we be affected? What can we do today as a preventive measure and in an acute case to protect ourselves or even gain advantages? Integrate threats and respective contingency strategies into your future strategy.. LESS SHORTAGE OF PERSONNEL – GREATER ATTRACTIVENESS TO EMPLOYEES PROBLEM Why don't more talented and young employees want to work for you? Google, Adidas, Tesla and many start-ups are popular employers, but you don't get enough applications? Many of the applicants that do come to you, you would rather see working for your competitors? Your current employees give you less than ideal employer ratings on platforms such as Glassdoor, despite all the advantages and discounts you provide? Your obviously low employer attractiveness is or will become a limiting factor for growth?? SOLUTION What greater purpose does your business offer to your employees? How is your company good for people and the world? Nowadays, young applicants ask questions that previously nobody would dare to pose. A professionally well-developed mission, positioning and vision answers these critical questions of self-confident young talents. Generations Y and Z pay particular attention to the corporate culture. The more forward-looking it is, the higher both freedom and responsibility are, the more flexibly they are allowed to work, the more attractive you will be as an employer.. Your mission and vision are your most profitable investment, if you do them well. This fourth category of benefit was about energy and performance: Less inertia - more motivation and performance Less anxiety and doubt - more confidence Less shortage of personnel - greater attractiveness for employees
