News: An iconic part of Disneyland history – and Disney in general will be getting refurbished soon. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room closed this week to perform routine maintenance on the lighting, sound, and show. The mighty tree of Tangaroa will be recreated from a high resolution digital scan. The current Tangaroa is no longer able to be repaired, having been there since the attraction opening in 1963. The attraction will reopen later this summer. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/tangaroa-tree-be-rebuilt-during-upcoming-refurbishment-walt-disneys-enchanted-tiki-room-disneyland/ https://www.micechat.com/146135-rolly-crump-impostor-syndrome-part-2/ Tour dates are open for the new guided tour coming to Disneyland for the 70th anniversary. A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour is a 2-hour guided walking tour, which includes a ride aboard the Mark Twain, Disneyland Railroad, a Lightning Lane for a select attraction, reserved viewing for Paint the Night, which includes popcorn, and a tour keepsake. The price is $120 per guest. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and are highly recommended. Check out the link in the show notes to reserve your tour! – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ https://disneyland.disney.go.com/en-ca/events-tours/disneyland/story-of-celebration-tour/ A character not often seen at the resorts made a visit for Earth Day. WALL-E was in the lobby of the Pixar Place Hotel roaming around and greeting guests. He also opened up his storage compartment to share the plant, potted in the boot, just like in the movie! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/04/24/dear-disney-we-are-begging-for-this-rare-character-meet-and-greet-to-become-permanent/ As we reported on previously, some permits have been filed with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department in relation to Porto's coming to Downtown Disney. We talked about removing the two ticket booths from the esplanade, but did not mention the permit to tear down the existing building – currently home to Earl of Sandwich. No timeline on the permits, but this is forward progress. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ Once again, Disneyland Cast Members were invited to create upcycled art projects to be shown off to guests for Earth Month. This time, the creations, ranging from a Haunted Mansion created from cardboard pizza boxes, to Maleficent in dragon form made from plastic cutlery. The display is under the Silly Symphony Swings for guests to enjoy. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ This week, the Disney Parks Blog recognized a cast member who brings joy to countless (or not so countless) guests. Antonio has been working at the Disneyland Resort for 18 years, and has received over 735 cast compliments from guests. Antonio works at Pixar Pier attractions and before Disneyland, worked for nearly 10 years in hospitality in Dubai and Qatar. Antonio's rise to fame is in part due to his exuberant energy and fun dance moves for guests! – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/dancing-disneyland-resort-cast-member-inspires-happiness/ Last week, we talked about recycling your food scraps at Disneyland. Since then, little droids have appeared on top of food scraps containers to remind guests that only food scraps should be deposited in the bin they are standing on. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ A new way to checkout at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta has arrived. A kiosk for guest self-checkout has been installed. The system scans the items on the tray, adds it up, and asks for payment. Currently, Magic Key discounts must involve a cast member, and payment can only be made with credit or debit card. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ Weeklyteers who may be in the parks starting May 9th should know that it is Grad Nite season at the resort again, and park hours may be impacted. This year, there is some new, more generic graduation merchandise available for purchase. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ SnackChat: New food items coming to the resort – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/04/24/disney-just-announced-23-new-treats-are-coming-next-week/#more-1028273 Discussion Topic: Michael Holland host of From Out of the Past Podcast https://www.instagram.com/fromoutofthepastpodcast https://linktr.ee/hollandimaginarium https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK7GRiUhhB8 https://www.youtube.com/@AlextheHistorian

ParkMagic Podcast: Insider Tips To Plan Your Disneyland Adventure

With our constantly updated list of early closure dates, you'll learn to stay one step ahead and turn a potential schedule hiccup into an opportunity for even more fun in the park.If you have already planned a trip for a day when the parks might be closing early, we will give you tips for working around those parties to make sure you get the most out of your days at Disneyland or California Adventure. Right now, our tools are just for Disneyland, but we hope to expand to other parks soon. Disney changes policies, prices, and shows often. In the magical world of Disneyland, there are stories that often remain hidden behind the enchantment. Join us in this episode of The Scarecast as we peel back the layers of Disneyland history and explore three intriguing and chilling stories.First, we take you to the heart of Disneyland, to a small apartment above the Firehouse on Main Street. This was Walt Disney's personal retreat, and even after his passing, his beloved lamp in the apartment's window has remained lit. But what's the eerie legend behind this glowing lamp? Then, we shift our focus to Grad Nite, a tradition for high school graduates that has a darker side. In 1966, a young man named Thomas Guy Cleveland embarked on an ill-fated adventure that ended in tragedy on the monorail tracks. His story reveals a side of Disneyland rarely talked about—a side where accidents can turn magical nights into nightmares. But that's not all; just a year later in 1967, another tragedy occurred on the People Mover ride, where a teenager lost his life attempting a dangerous stunt. The eerie question arises: What are the odds of two eerily similar fatalities occurring on the same ride?Join us for a journey into the unknown, as we uncover the legends, mysteries, and haunting experiences of Disneyland. And don't forget to follow me on Instagram and TikTok @thescarecast for exclusive content, including a unique experience shared by one of our listeners inside the Firehouse below Walt's apartment.WARNING: This episode includes discussions of graphic content, listener please be advised.*******Social Media:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thescarecast/?hl=enTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thescarecast?lang=enGo Subscribe to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@scarecastBuy Merch: https://thescarecast.com/store/Contact me through email: mike@thescarecast.com for any story requests or inquiries, concerns, or advertising inquiries.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-scarecast/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Wondrous Journeys will be the new Disneyland fireworks show that will have nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, and will include more state of the art projection effects on Main Street, it's a small world, and the Rivers of America. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/09/disneyland-resort-announcements-from-d23-expo-2022-and-more/ The Disney Parks Blog did what Josh D'Amaro didn't do at the D23 Expo last week – they gave us some information on the Magic Bands coming to Disneyland! No exact date was mentioned, but they did confirm that Magic Bands should be at the resort for guests this fall. The menu has not been updated. – https://www.micechat.com/333927-disneyland-update-halloween-treats-traffic-tricks/ Another patent has been posted that was requested by Disney. This time, it is for a glasses-free VR attraction experience. In basic terms, the new technology would use projections and reflections, much like the Pepper's Ghost effect that we have had in the Haunted Mansion for years now. Of course, just because a patent is filed doesn't mean that it will show up anywhere in the parks soon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/09/disney-files-patent-for-glasses-free-vr-attraction/ Discussion Topic: Tage and Teresa's Trip to Disneyland and Oogie Boogie Bash Recap

Disneyland is exploring ways to use drones in future spectaculars, but is still very much in the blue sky, or early planning stages. One of the challenges is the location of the park near neighborhoods and highways. Other massive drone shows take place in more rural areas like desserts. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/10/disneyland-explores-ways-to-use-aerial-drones-in-nighttime-spectaculars/ This past Sunday, a favorite classic villain returned to Tomorrowland. Darth Vader is now meeting again the the Star Wars Launch Bay for a limited time. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/11/darth-vader-is-returning-to-disneyland-for-a-limited-time/ Not all is happily ever after at Snow White's Enchanted Wish at Disneyland. Most of the projections after the poison apple scene have not been working recently. This doesn't make the attraction un-rideable, but it does lose a lot of the magic of the re-imagined attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ Finally, there have been some progress happening at the entrance to Tomorrowland! However, these are not the changes that we had been promised when the old french fry rocks had been removed. No word on if this is temporary, or the new plan for the entrance. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ A new dance party is happening nightly in Tomorrowland throughout the summer. Stitch's Interplanetary Beach Party Blast features some of your favorite characters in space suits performing groovy dance moves. It runs from 7pm-11pm nightly. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ Fans of Buzz Lightyear and the upcoming Lightyear movie get excited! A new drink holder is coming to Disneyland based on the space ranger himself. The Lightyear gauntlet is very similar to the Thanos Infinity gauntlet that was for sale previously. The gauntlet should be available soon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/09/youll-be-able-to-drink-out-of-buzz-lightyears-hand-in-disneyland-yes-you-read-that-right/ As we reported on previously, there is a new Paradise Pier hotel guest entrance to Disney California Adventure. The new pathway and entrance is now open for guests to use. Unlike the entrance to DCA from the Grand Californian, this entrance is exclusive to guests of the hotel, and your room key is required. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/06/11/news-disney-california-adventure-entrance-from-paradise-pier-hotel-now-open/ Last week, one of the performances of the Spider-Man stuntronic show didn't go exactly as planned. From video posted on Instagram from a guest at the show, it appeared that the stuntronic didn't release from the web line and came crashing down into the building where Spider-Man usually lands safely. The side of the building is designed to break away in the case of this type of malfunction, and by one of the shows later in the day, it looked like nothing had happened. – https://www.micechat.com/323777-disneyland-update-poison-apples-summer-crowds-spider-fail/ Discussion Topic: Nicolasa – Disneyana Fan Club – https://disneyanafanclub.weebly.com/

This week, Buena Vista Street has opened, Walt and Mickey have a refreshed look, Avenger’s Campus updates, new food in DCA, Grad Nite 2021 update, we talk to Liberty about her Disney World trip, and more! Please support the show if you can by going to https://www.dlweekly.net/support/. If you want some DLWeekly Swag, you can pick some up at https://www.dlweekly.net/store/. News: Buena Vista Street has reopened and guests have descended upon the resort to step foot inside of a Disney park again. For those who may go in the near future, you will have to pay $10 to park in the Downtown Disney parking lot, stores are capped at 25% per state mandate, so be prepared to wait. To actually get access to Buena Vista Street, guests must wait in a queue or scan a daily-changing QR code to join the virtual queue. Once you get inside, there are also waits to enter the shops. – https://www.micechat.com/275982-disneyland-update-holiday-hopes-and-humbugs/ With the opening of Buena Vista Street, the Storytellers statue that features Mickey and Walt when first arriving in California has been refurbished. In Disneyland, the Partners statue was also refurbished. Over time, the bronze had oxidized, and because of the applied patina, acrylic polymer and wax, it required a more intensive process than just a simple cleaning or polishing. Over four days, an artisan utilized a process using crushed walnut shells to gently strip the figure down to the bare bronze. After cleaning, various chemicals were applied and heated with a blowtorch to create a reaction and fuse with the bronze. The figure was coated in a polymer to protect the patina, then coated with a very thin layer of wax. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/a-special-surprise-to-commemorate-mickeys-birthday-at-disneyland-resort/ Avenger’s Campus may not be open at Disney California Adventure at the moment, but you can still pick up your very own Spider-Bot! The Spider-Bot is a tool that WEB, or the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, built to help super heroes. Guests can find this fun toy, along with all new Avenger’s apparel at World of Disney or the Backlot Premiere Shop starting December 4th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/first-chance-to-get-your-very-own-spider-bot-from-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ With the ability to be in Disney California Adventure, guests have been able to get a closer look at Avenger’s Campus! Most of the buildings that can be seen from guest accessible areas look in place, and nearly complete. With the pace and amount of work being done, this new area could open with the rest of the park sometime next year. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/11/19/photos-construction-is-moving-along-at-avengers-campus-in-disneyland/ Guests that would like to order a drink from Award Wieners can also purchase a Green or a Red Mickey Jingle Bell Glow Cube for just $4.99. For a more upscale dining experience, some of the new options at Carthay Circle might hit the spot. Baked Bay Scallops, Moroccan Roasted Chicken Meatballs, Pumpkin Ice Cream Sundae, and available. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/11/21/whats-new-at-disney-california-adventure-buena-vista-street-re-opens-with-new-menus-holiday-merchandise-and-more/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/11/18/whats-new-at-downtown-disney-a-crazy-mickey-shake-iconic-mickey-ears-holiday-decorations-and-more/#more-408166 Without an opening date for the parks, and even knowing if graduation celebrations will be allowed next year, Disneyland has canceled the 2021 Grad Nite. Disney’s statement said “We know how disappointing this will be to the many graduates who were looking forward to celebrating at the Disneyland Resort, and we thank you for your understanding during these challenging and unprecedented times. We look forward to celebrating your students in years to come.” – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/11/24/news-grad-nite-2021-has-been-canceled-at-disneyland-resort/ Disney fans have been very excited about the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway toys available at McDonald’s as part of a Happy Meal order. However, in just the last couple of days, the toys have been pulled from the restaurants. The QR codes to register to win a WDW trip were having some issues and new toys without the codes are on the way to restaurants now and should be in stock again soon. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/11/mcdonalds-temporarily-stops-selling-happy-meals-featuring-mickey-and-minnies-runaway-railway-toys-due-to-error/ Once again, a new Disney Paper Parks creation has been posted online. This time, it celebrates the unveiling of the Castle of Magical Dreams which just debuted in Hong Kong Disneyland. The cool thing about this version is there are two versions, an easy and a hard. Also, we somehow missed the last of the Happy Haunts Disney Paper Parks from the end of October, which features Madame Leota. Links are available in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-castle-of-magical-dreams-designed-by-imagineers/ and https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/10/disney-parks-blog-presents-disney-paper-parks-happy-haunts-edition-designed-by-walt-disney-imagineering-part-4/ With the holidays coming up, you might want to make some yummy Disney treats at home. The Gingerbread-Cream Cheese Muffin recipe has been posted on the Disney Parks Blog. This recipe is a little more complicated than the ones that we have posted previously, but should still be a lot of fun! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/disneymagicmoments-cooking-up-the-magic-celebrate-national-gingerbread-day-with-our-gingerbread-cream-cheese-muffin-recipe/ Once again this year, Disney is airing the Wonderful World of Disney Magical Holiday Celebration Thanksgiving night at 9, 8 central on ABC. This year is the fifth anniversary of the broadcast and will feature Derek and Julianne Hough hosting from Disneyland, while Trevor Jackson hosts from Walt Disney World. The show will contain fan-favorite past performances throughout the years. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/abc-and-disney-parks-feature-nostalgic-performances-in-special-5th-anniversary-edition-of-the-wonderful-world-of-disney-magical-holiday-celebration/ This week, the Themed Entertainment Association honored Disney with two Outstanding Achievement Awards for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Additionally, they gave the Buzz Price Thea Award, Recognizing a Lifetime of Distinguished Achievements to Walt Disney Imagineering President Bob Weis. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2020/11/themed-entertainment-association-honors-disney-with-two-thea-awards-for-outstanding-achievement-and-recognizes-walt-disney-imagineering-president-bob-weis-for-a-lifetime-of-distinguished-achievements/ Discussion Topic: Liberty about her trip to WDW

Senior Announcements (4/30/20) April 30, 2020 Dear VAPA Seniors and Parents or Guardians, We are now in the last month and a half of the school year and I have some updates for you. I'm sure you agree this has been an unprecedented time for all of us and I am sure not the way our seniors wanted to close their last year of high school. We are finding answers to questions as soon as possible and are working on plans to honor our seniors in a few different ways including signs and messages online. We have been featuring seniors on our social media sites and website. We are asking ALL seniors to send a photo and plans for college or whatever they will be doing after high school. We need these as soon as possible, ideally before Friday, May 1, so they may be featured in the slide show we are sending to LAUSD to be posted on the LAUSD website. Please send photos and information to Ms. Dadrass at pxd9265@lausd.net. We are planning virtual or online events for Cinco de Mayo, Senior Awards and Recital, and the National Honor Society Induction. Please look for updates and information on these and any other activities on our website at www.vapalegacy.com , the online website at www.bit.ly/vapaonline, and our social media sites. For planning purposes, these events will be celebrated on or near the traditional dates. We are looking at a few options for graduation and are awaiting for district approval to move forward including a virtual or online ceremony and some other innovative ideas. As soon as they are approved, we will survey our seniors and families to decide which way we will go. Please note the following regarding senior dues and refunds. Grad Nite which was a PTSA-sponsored event, was cancelled by Disneyland and refund checks have been mailed out to seniors. The Prom and Panorama Picture have been cancelled. Refund checks for these activities are being written, based on what students paid, and will be distributed as soon as possible, probably next week. T-Shirts and Sweatshirts have already been distributed and the Yearbook is still being produced, so there will not be refunds for these items. Yearbooks will not be done until the Fall and we will have a distribution and signing day when they are ready. We are so proud of our seniors and all their accomplishments. We hope you will do all you can to stay physically and emotionally fit over the rest of the year, through the summer, and into next year. As difficult as this is, especially for our seniors, this definitely will be a year to remember. Please also be sure to check our website regularly and utilize our social media platforms for updates (Website www.vapalegacy.com, ONLINE Website www.bit.ly/vapaonline, Facebook www.facebook.com/VAPAHS, Twitter https://twitter.com/vapa_at_legacy, and Instagram www.instagram.com/vapa_at_legacy). Please also call me at any time at 323-357-7531 (office) or 323-596-7531(hotline) or e-mail me at etrimis@lausd.net . You may also send questions to our Parent Request system online at www.bit.ly/vaparequestenglish or www.bit.ly/vaparequyestspanish. Thank you and be well. Sincerely, Edward Trimis, Principal

The video shows the area businesses lighting up the night to show images of hope and inspiration. The Disneyland Hotel was featured with lights turned on in the rooms in the shape of a heart and Mickey ears. Other locations spelled out “hope”, “strong”, “safe” and even some happy faces. I have seen Weird Al perform many times at the parks. There was Grad Nite for me, and I saw several of his shows that evening. And then there was a night out at Pleasure Island where it was a giant sing-along; he did costume changes and had a really fun show. I explore his history with the parks - though he is just a fan as I am. Also I play a clip from his song "Skipper Dan" which is a fun parody of the Jungle Cruise skippers. [editor's note: I downloaded a copy when he made it available last year as a teaser. I use it here, but would hope that if you like it, you purchase a copy. If anyone has any objections to its use, please let me know] --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/daves-disney-view/message

We weigh the pros and cons of hopping in and out of lines. Plus, we stay on top of recent listener email, with topics including making magic for others in the parks (pin-giving vs. pin-trading); attending Disneyland during Grad Nite - is it a potential pitfall, or just another day?; and helping a Walt Disney World pro make the most of an early summer trip to Disneyland. Next, we offer the top three attractions we'd each like to see receive a holiday overlay (a Halloween grand circle ghost train tour, anyone?) Also, we share our Disney secret tips, including methods for travelers with children to get to Disneyland from the airport without a child's car seat; Walt Disney's own chili recipe; and tips for finding hotels near the Disneyland Resort.
