A massive power imbalance, everyone doing the narrowest version of their jobs, and an overriding culture that assumed postmasters were thieves. These are just some of the ways Post Office ended up prosecuting postmasters for shortfalls that existed only on the computer.Opening grab from Mr Beer KC (Counsel Assisting) and Rob Wilson, former Head of the Royal Mail Group Criminal Law Team.Subsequent grab from Mr Beer KC and Helen Rose, former Post Office / Royal Mail Group Auditor.Final grab from Andrew Wise, former Advisor in the Network Business Support Centre, Post Office. For thorough and detailed reporting of the Post Office Scandal, start with the reporting of Nick Wallis, including his BBC podcast, the Great Post Office Trial. Now for some appropriately bureaucratic disclaimers....Those of us in the employ of the State Government speak in a strictly personal capacity, consistent with the Public Sector Code of Ethics that permits public servants to promote an outcome in relation to an issue of public interest - in this case, the betterment of the public service.Nothing we say should be taken as representing the views of the Government or our employers. While we have tried to be as thorough in our research as busy full time jobs and lives allow, we definitely don't guarantee that we've got all the details right. If you want rigorous reporting on Robodebt, we recommend the work of Rick Morton at the Saturday Paper, Chris Knaus and Luke Henriques-Gomes at the Guardian, Ben Eltham at Crikey, Julian Bajkowski at The Mandarin, and of course, the Robodebt Royal Commission itself. Please feel free to email us corrections, episode suggestions, or anything else, at thewestminstertraditionpod@gmail.com.Thanks to PanPot audio for our intro and outro music. On this week's episode, NPM's Andrew Burnes is joined by Jenny Netherton, Senior Program Manager at Southeastern Wind Coalition and Helen Rose Patterson, Senior Campaign Manager for Offshore Wind at the National Wildlife Federation to discuss the advent of offshore wind in Louisiana state waters.Together, Jenny and Helen Rose answer poignant questions about whether offshore wind in state waters, essentially unprecedented elsewhere in the country, is feasible, whether demand on the ground for offshore wind in Louisiana is genuine or policy-driven, and the challenges developers interested in in the area will face when compared to the much more vetted federal WEAs identified by BOEM. The policy experts also predict some major announcements from Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards related to offshore wind, some of which may come sooner than expected.New Project Media (NPM) is a leading data, intelligence, and events company providing origination led coverage of the renewable energy market for the development, finance, advisory & corporate community.

TwoSistas, and it's WealthWellnessWednesday with our amazing guest, Helen Rose. Helen is an author, speaker and coach with an unending characteristic of sense and sensibility, sprinkling in humor and motivation. Helen is in the midst of working on her itinerary to Greece in 2022. She also shared with us the journeys we take and the gifts we run across. To look in the mirror - are we paying attention to the emotional situations and the vision of the miracles right in front of us? Today's guest is Helen Rose Diotte, a life coach, author, motivational speaker and founder of The Gift of Being Present. She's joining us all the way from Alberta, Canada, to discuss her journey and work helping others to think outside the box, discover the freedom of intentionality and be present.Helen's experiences have shaped and informed her approach toward helping others. She spent her earliest years in and out of foster homes before she was adopted. She left home at the age of 16 and started a lifelong journey to self-discovery that has taken her to where she is today.Happiness, Grief and Everything In BetweenThe first thing you should know is that everyone can find happiness. No matter how dark or difficult things are for you right now, they don't have to stay that way. Happiness is a choice. It's one we're all capable of making. While it's easier for some than it is for others, it's possible. At the other end of the spectrum is grief. At its core, grief is a response to a loss. Often, we think about grief in relation to the loss of a loved one. It is, but it can stem from other sources too. An illness, the end of a marriage, the loss of a pet, or a prized belonging can all trigger feelings of grief. Whatever you're feeling, give yourself the freedom and space to do so. When you allow yourself to feel and sit with your emotions intentionally, you can process, understand and eventually accept them. Your Work Isn't Done (and That's Okay)When she was 41, Helen married the love of her life. Nine years later, the marriage ended when she discovered her husband was having an affair. That's a devastating experience for anyone, but Helen was particularly thrown. She had done the work to discover more about her birth mother and the circumstances surrounding why she gave her up for adoption. She learned about her past. She even wrote a book about it. Helen thought she had done the work necessary to accept and understand her past and was content with the direction her future seemed to be taking her. The end of her marriage changed everything. Her divorce process taught her that the work of self-discovery and self-acceptance is never done, and that's okay. As people, we're meant to grow. To learn more about Helen's work and story, check out her website. She has phenomenal resources available, including a podcast, a grief recovery program and coaching programs of various lengths to help you heal, find peace and practice being present.

Religion is a very prevalent part of life in New Orleans and southern Louisiana, leading conservation organizations to build relationships with local faith leaders and to educate them on environmental issues. Faith leaders often believe that as God's creation it is important to be stewards of nature and they carry this message to their congregations. The role of the faith community in conservation is discussed in this episode by Helen Rose Patterson, Senior Outreach Coordinator for the Gulf Program at the National Wildlife Federation, and Cory Sparks, Assistant Pastor at Bethany United Methodist Church in New Orleans. Helen Rose and Cory talk about field trips to see coastal problems and projects, training in advocacy for faith leaders, and the impact they have by writing op-eds, speaking at public meetings, and talking to elected officials. waterloop is made possible in part by grants from the Walton Family Foundation and Spring Point Partners. waterloop is sponsored by High Sierra Showerheads, the smart and stylish way to save water, energy, and money while enjoying a powerful shower. Daynelle (Day) Bibb is creating inclusivity within the wellness industry while simultaneously supporting survivors of domestic violence. The founder of Om Thrive Foundation, their mission is to provide wellness services to under-served and under-represented communities to support healing from trauma and abuse. The idea for Om Thrive came from Day’s personal experience of coping with health problems that resulted from physical and emotional trauma. Yoga had a profound effect on Day, helping her to heal and find her strength, an element that she wanted to share with those who are underrepresented in the wellness community. In order to sustain the operations of Om Thrive, Day launched Helen Rose Skincare, named after her late mother in honor of living her life according to her own terms - and being happy along the way. With organic, vegan and handmade products that are beautifully packaged and celebrate the diversity of all skin tones and body types, it’s no wonder that her business has been able to scale from being solely e-commerce to opening a store front - all in the midst of a global pandemic. Not only are her products successful, but she is changing the landscape of self-care by showcasing people of color in ways that have never been done before. In our conversation we discuss her career trajectory prior to becoming a founder, the difficulty of raising capital, especially as a Black woman, and how she is making yoga accessible to all. We also discuss the biggest advice she has for founders and why it’s important to invest and take care of yourself so that others want to invest in you. Bonus: Day gives us the ultimate skincare routine - simple and effective, as demonstrated by her glowing and flawless skin! Helen Rose Skincare is currently crowdfunding until October 31, 2020 in order to scale their operations and to expand Om Thrive into having a physical space, providing free yoga and wellness classes to survivors of domestic violence and 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification classes for people of color. Taizé, though Western European in origin, has sought to include people and traditions worldwide. They have sought to demonstrate this in the music and prayers where songs are sung in many languages, and have included chants and icons from the Eastern Orthodox tradition. We celebrate a rich mosaic of free-thinking, spiritually-questing individuals joined in common support and action. We welcome diversity including diversity of beliefs from divine believers to humanists, from pagans to atheists and agnostics. We believe in the compassion of the human heart, the warmth of community, the pursuit of justice and the search of meaning in our lives. We gather with gratitude on traditional Cree lands that are now a part of Treaty Six and shared by many nations. A treaty is an inheritance, a responsibility and a relationship. May we be good neighbours to one another, good stewards to our planet and good ancestors to our children.
