September 27 is observed as National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NGMHAAD) - a day dedicated to shining a light on the impact of HIV/AIDS within the gay and bisexual male community. On this day, we acknowledge the persistent challenges faced by this community and emphasize the importance of education, testing, and support. NGMHAAD serves as a powerful reminder that while significant progress has been made in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the battle is far from over, especially for those within the LGBTQ+ spectrum. It is a day for individuals, organizations, and communities to come together, raise awareness, combat stigma, and promote access to essential healthcare services. Learn more about your ad choices. December is HIV/AIDS Awareness month. How far has treatment and prevention come? Why is there still no vaccine against HIV, when it was possible to develop a vaccine against COVID so quickly? What is it about the human immunodeficiency virus that has thwarted scientists for almost 40 years? For that, we turn to Dr. Robert Gallo, who the Institute of Human Virology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and co-founded the Global Virus Network. Then, infections and hospitalizations for RSV - respiratory syncytial virus - caught hospital systems across the country off guard. A Maryland Department of Health dashboard tracking RSV shows hospitalizations climbed rapidly from September to October, soaring from the high thirties to a peak of 263. In the last week of November, hospitalizations were down to 76 children. We speak with Dr. Jason Custer, medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit at the University of Maryland Children's Hospital, and an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Nathaniel Holley talks with WAGM about HIV/AIDS Awareness he was diagnosed with HIV over ten years ago but he stated that although "he has been diagnosed you can still live a full life". He actually found out the his then partner had HIV while he was cleaning up their home. A year went by and he tested negative only to find out a short time after that he is positive. Several years later he is now an advocate for HIV/AIDS to encourage others to get tested and there are several ways to keep from spreading this virus. 58% of African American women have the leading cases of HIV mostly because people aren't talking about it enough and being educated on this virus. Not only is it Black History Month, but this week marked the 23rd anniversary of National Black HIV/Aids Awareness Day. Allison speaks with Marc Meachem at ViiV Healthcare, who serves on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS about why this continues to be an issue.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This observance is an opportunity to increase HIV education, testing, community involvement, and treatment among black communities. The first National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) was marked in 1999 as a grassroots-education effort to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS prevention, care, and treatment in communities of color. National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is February 7 and is a day to address the impact of HIV on Black communities. When we work to overcome structural barriers to HIV testing, prevention, and treatment, we can #StopHIVTogether. https://bit.ly/3GkAgra #NBHAAD

This coming Friday on February 7th we will recognize the 21st annual National Black HIV & AIDS Awareness Day. As the name suggests, this day was created to focus on the specific epidemic of HIV & AIDS in black communities. And like everything that racism and bigotry touches, the AIDS crisis has been no different. We are not going to go into the full history behind AIDS as we will discuss that in June when we finally cover the AIDS epidemic. However, in this episode we will discuss the many biases and overt as well as subtle racism that prevented early treatment in black and brown communities. We will also give a fairly thorough explanation of HIV and AIDS and address some of the stigma around the virus. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/yourqueerstory/message

Anyole AKA Angel Blessings Angie via facebook. I'm 29 Manifesting heaven like consciousness while staying in tune & aware to thy Christ Consciousness that dwells within. Much of my " awareness" is due in part to my several OOB's(out of body experiences) & NDE's ( Near Death Experiences).Since a very young age I have always been aware that their is very thin vial that "separates" Us from "heaven". Being born a twin with a tumor that wraps around my left lung & pushes on my heart posteriorly has its many challenges while always staying triumphant. I have gone through this life learning that their is No*thing that keeps me away from God & heaven. Being able to see guides while in a cab with my mother , watching the surgeons do surgery on me, or seeing myself hovering over my body when I was in a comma because of Chemo therapy All of these experiences because I was born with a tumor & the changes that takes place while out of the body are amazing . My experiences are my truth without them I would not be here right NOW.
