If you're an author, you need to stop leaving money on the table. You don't just sell your book and hope for tremendous revenue. Whether you're a self-published author, indie author, or traditionally published author - I can teach you how you can turn your book revenue into a 6-figure business with book marketing methods that are sure to work. You see, the biggest mistake an author can make is thinking that the sale of his or her book is the only way to make income from it. Which is why today, I discuss ways to turn your book revenue into an income-generating business beyond just the sale of books.  I touch on several book marketing strategies like coaching, keynote speaking, organizing live events, getting mastermind groups together, developing a course or program around your book, and even certifying others to teach your material. These can all help redefine book revenue for you, whether you're a self-published, traditionally-published, or an indie author. I know what you're thinking: "This can't work with a fiction book." I'm here to tell you, IT CAN. I have done it with my book, "Elixir Project", and I want to show you how to sell your book and MORE. Are you ready to increase your influence, impact, and income?

It Can't All Be Done With a Bur Episode #333 with Dr. Jeff Rouse Aesthetics should be the byproduct, not the driver of airway treatment. And a problem in dentistry is the pervasive camouflage treatment culture that many clinicians participate in. So, to expose the problems with this mindset, Kirk Behrendt brings in Dr. Jeff Rouse from Spear Education to teach you that not everything can be fixed with a bur; airway might be the answer. But don't just take any old course on sleep — sleep and airway are not the same thing! For more of Dr. Rouse's advice, listen to Episode 333 of The Best Practices Show! Main Takeaways: Dentistry needs to go beyond the aesthetically-driven camouflage treatment culture. Dentofacial growth problems need to be addressed, not camouflaged. There are more than just structural and biologic issues; there's a bigger picture. You can't solve airway issues with a bur, by cutting away and removing things.   Comprehensive care isn't taught in dental school. Don't just take any sleep course. Learn about airway. Quotes: “[Dr. Christian Coachman wrote in his post], ‘In my humble opinion, the main challenge of modern dentistry is, go beyond the aesthetically-driven camouflage treatment culture.' And I totally agree. I wrote him and said that we need to also have ENTs and sleep physicians think the same way. . . His idea was, we need to stop just taking constricted arches and malocclusions and camouflaging it by adding veneers and crowns, that we need to get to the core problem, which is that we've got a dentofacial growth problem. And we need to address that.” (08:09—08:57) “Dental school has a huge problem. And I don't think there's an answer to it, honestly. I can't figure an answer. If you turned a dental school over to me tomorrow, could I put a curriculum in that would advance our ability to treatment plan more ideally the way Christian was talking about? Absolutely. What would be the problem? Well, a lot of those treatment plans require multiple years, so you're not getting the hands-on. You're not actually cutting on teeth and stuff; you're doing other things. But even more important, it would require retraining all of the faculty. And every time a new faculty member came in, they'd have to be retrained all over again.” (09:52—10:36) “At Spear, we teach that facially-generated treatment planning starts with esthetics; where do the teeth belong, like setting a denture; function, how do you put the lower denture in to get it to work right. Then, you talk about structural issues and biologic issues; do they have disease, did they break a tooth, what kind of ceramic I'm going to use. In dental school, we only talk structure and biology. There's no, ‘Where do the teeth belong?' It is simply, get hand skills so that you're not going to hurt people when you leave. And do you need to do that? You absolutely do. The problem is, we call it “treatment plan”. They say, ‘Okay. You've met your new patient. Now, you're going to present your treatment plan to me.' And that implies that it's comprehensive in nature, and it's not even close.” (10:41—11:33) “We need to continue to spread the word that there's more than just structural and biologic issues. There's a bigger picture that needs to be taken into consideration.” (12:50—13:00) “If the only thing a dentist knows how to do is cut with a bur, they don't understand the interdisciplinary nature of what they just put on the teeth. Then, they try to provide a solution simply by warping ceramic, building out huge bicuspids, teeth that are overlapped, ‘Well, if I prep this, it could do this and do that.' I mean, they're always trying to figure out how to solve it with a bur. And what we've started to look at and look at differently is, if you take that case, and the analog or digital version of the mockup is great because it gets commitment from the patient. I want that. But I want you to then, instead of just counting the number of teeth you've...

Instagram recently announced that they are a video-centric platform. Pinterest started allowing video and swipe-style graphics in 2020, and YouTube favors long videos cut into shorter segments.  Video is the future, and we've known that for a few years now. So, what does that mean for those looking to start or grow a biz in 2021? You best get comfortable being on camera. Kidding, kind of. I want to leave you with three thoughts and ideas if you're starting or running an online business in 2021. It's never too late to start, but it also probably behooves you to start and learn NOW. So do listen to this episode with a sense of urgency. Okay? Timing is real, and I get that. Of course. But if you've wanted to start a biz, or even just creating free content, let's go ahead and START. A few things to note about video - there is not one way to do video. As you listen in, prep your brain to open to video. Now, there are some things you truly despise. I HATE SALES CALLS. I hate hosting them. And I hate being a customer. I would so rather read a sales page, and just purchase something on my own. This hatred is not rooted in being bad at or insecure in a process with which I am unfamiliar. That's the difference I want you to explore if the idea of video doesn't spark a joyful light in your soul.  If you're here for the business side of things, then go ahead and join my free on demand workshop, Your Biz | Your Way - 3 steps to build a profitable online health and fitness biz And while you're on the site, snag all the free resources - you'll find goodies for trainees and coaches or entrepreneurs alike. Much love. So ask if it's that you ACTUALLY hate the process of creating video-based content, or if it's because you don't know how, think you're bad at it, lack confidence or any other reason. Let's begin. Question one: WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER USING VIDEO FOR YOUR ONLINE BIZ? First off, video is more captivating than a still photo. It's just a thing. And in an online world where people are more stimulated than ever, catching someone's attention is what we're after. Video can help us do that. Video has movement, and movement draws us in when compared to a still photo or graphic. Would you agree? I have no study to back this. So, take it for what it's worth. We'll get into types of video you can use because there are ENDLESS options and I hope to give you some ideas, but for now, how have I seen video positively impact my biz? Video has the potential to expedite trust, and knowability of a brand. It CAN be more intimate than other types of content. Again, we're talking about potential. Not a guarantee. The content has to be good, and aligned with your audience to do anything. But when compared to still content, video can lead to quicker connection I believe. I certainly feel like I “know” or want to engage with those who I see in their IG stories than those accounts who I don't. Maybe that's completely off, but it's just a small example. So… DO YOU HAVE TO CREATE OR USE VIDEO? In short. No, you don't have to do anything. BUT in speaking with some very established humans who have far more knowledge about business growth and the future of the online space than I do…I encourage you to explore how video can work for your biz. You do not have to use video to grow your business. The other options still exist - podcasts, and written form content, photos and graphics, etc. I follow plenty of people who have not created a single piece of video content on instagram. BUT, I'll also point out that these accounts have already built a substantial following and growth is likely not their main goal. I could be wrong, however.  Ultimately, at any stage of business, you need to be able to prioritize. Yes? To venture into video? Or not quite yet? Keep listening, and trust your gut as feelings come up! What platforms are you looking to grow your audience and brand on?

Could the music of independent artists being played on a radio station in a small city help that small city bloom again? I definitely think so! We closed out last week's show with a quote by P.T. Barnum “No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.” In what seems like a long time ago, radio stations used to introduce listeners to new music, to new artists. I think that can still play a major role for radio stations, I mean that's something that we do on a weekly basis here at Radio Free Brooklyn, but I think that now, in addition to introducing new music and new artists, radio stations also need to introduce their city to their listeners. In Episode 61 of the CounterVortex podcast, Bill Weinberg warns that following Trump's instrumented right-wing insurrection at the Capitol building, violence in the final lead-up to Inauguration Day could provide the expedient for execution of his long-planned coup d'etat—precisely as had been foreseen in the novel It Can't Happen Here. Despite fascist-abetting denialism from elements of the "left," even members of Congress are now asserting that the ransacking of the Capitol was carried out with complicity of elements of the security forces. Republicans meanwhile engage in despicable propaganda that equates the insufficient Democratic support for the Black Lives Matter uprising or protests against ICE putting kids in cages with Republican support for an attempted right-wing putsch. The statement by the Joint Chiefs of Staff holds out hope leaders in the Pentagon may refuse Trump's orders. Are you feeling the pressure of being accused of spreading Cov-ID, whether you are symptomatic or not? What does the science say about this? Should we accept the stress of feeling like we might kill someone by not being willing to give up our rights and liberties? Is it valid to feel guilty for not wanting to wear a mask? What are the dangers and health risks of the Cov-ID mandates? This week we talk about the larger impact of the Cov-ID effect, the quantum effect. What science is being used to make decisions, how that is effecting our lives, as well as what role our government is playing in this. AND what should their role be?More importantly we discuss what WE can do about it. Come take a refreshing look at what our new normal can be IF we act upon inspired thought AND believe it will happen...It Can’t Happen Here Documentary by Larken Rose https://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=tightropetb&p=it+can+t+happen+here+larken+rose#action=view&id=1&vid=5c48de2ff5e6c44122215a41f7652d56Planet Lockdown Interview by Catherine Austin Fittshttps://www.bitchute.com/video/1JJH24Wl4nl7/

Midday theater critic J. Wynn Rousuck joins Tom today with a look at new works by two established theater companies who've taken novel approaches to their pandemic-proscribed craft. In Single Carrot Theatre's "Keep Off the Grass: A Guide to...something" the itinerant company has found a way to do a real-live theater production without violating COVID-19 public health restrictions. Single Carrot describes the piece, devised by the ensemble and co-directed by Alix Fenhagen and B. Kleymeyer, as "an outdoor, walking audio play [that] weaves original folktales with visual performances (at a distance) to delve into the ethical questions that we grapple with..." Playwright Lola Pierson, with Acme Corporation, an innovative Baltimore theater company, has written and produced an unsual piece called The Institute for Counterfeit Memory: A play in a box. Each ticketed audience member receives a small box to open at home. The box contains various items, including a tiny mp3 player with earbuds, a music box, a mirror, some printed cards, a candle jar to illuminate a photographic slide, and other objects, which are meant to be used according to the audio instructions. The interaction provides the user with a unique and moving narrative experience. Also mentioned today: EverymanTheatre will be joining a growing nationwide consortium of over 80 theatres and performing arts venues in presenting a new adaptation of Berkeley Rep’s It Can’t Happen Here. Based on Sinclair Lewis political thriller, written in 1935 as fascism took hold in Europe, the drama follows the ascent of a demogogue who becomes president of the United States by promising to return the nation to greatness. The audio drama is due to stream on Tuesday, October 13 at 5PM PDT/8PM EDT via YouTube. Everyman is also planning a treat for the Halloween season: starting this week, they are releasing five Ghostly podcast episodes, produced and and hosted by resident company member Danny Gavigan. Judith Levine is the author of several other books including Harmful to Minors: The Perils of Protecting Children from Sex which was published in 2002. We discuss “carceral” vs “abolitionist” feminists and work through our curiosities and differences around sex offending. We ask who counts as a sex offender, and what counts as a sex offense.  We debate punishment vs. restorative justice and apply this to research on recidivism. We also ask provocatively why, why as a feminist has she chosen to defend sex offenders when violence against women is still rampant? Savvy, funny, and oh so smart, you’ll want to hear Judith describe her book and brilliantly address our questions and concerns!   Intro song:  Dick Haymes & The Song Spinners, "It Can't be Wrong (Remastered)-Single."  Outro song:  James Blake, "The Wilhelm Scream."

American Fascism: Then and Now

TALKING POLITICS

David and Helen talk with historian Sarah Churchwell about the origins, uses and abuses of the idea of American fascism. Where does American fascism come from? Does it follow a European model or is it something exceptional? What role do white supremacy and anti-Semitism play in its development? How close has it got to power? Plus we ask the big question for now: Does it make sense to call Trump a fascist?Talking Points: Trump’s decision to hold a rally in Tulsa on 19 June is an act of clear provocation to African Americans, especially at this moment. 19 June 1865 was the day the last slaves were emancipated, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The symbolic deferral, the fact that white people were actively denying black people full rights and citizenship, is what Juneteenth came to represent. Tulsa is where the worst race riot in American history occurred in 1921. The white population of Tulsa descended on a thriving black community. The Trump campaign was forced to move the rally a day. It will happen on 20 June.Is fascism the right word for what has happened—and is happening in America? The second Klan rose between 1915 and 1922.The commentariat at the time pointed to Mussolini and fascism to explain the Klan’s resurgence.Hitler looked at the US and took aspects, including the legal institutionalisation of white supremacy, especially in the South, as an inspiration. But there is something quite specific about European fascism in the 1920s that has to do with the fallout of the First World War.Fascism is ultra-nationalism. It has to be different in every country: it’s highly situational, highly historicized.
