In a recent public address, Florida's Governor, Ron DeSantis, emphatically made it clear the kind of disruptive and harmful actions that have been making headlines recently won't find a home in his state. 'Think of the recent occurrences, where so-called 'supporters' of Hamas have been blocking traffic and commandeering bridges,' DeSantis stated. 'Let's set the record straight: no one has the right to do that. Be it medical emergencies or parental duties, people's lives can't be put on hold because someone else decides their ideological inclinations supersede public order.' DeSantis detailed an incident where similar efforts to disrupt public order occurred in Miami. 'They attempted to enforce their own rules in Miami, and the result? Within 10 minutes, these agitators were removed from the road where they rightfully belong. We will not stand by and let such actions disrupt the peace and order of our state,' DeSantis asserted. Moving beyond the disruptions caused on the public highways, DeSantis turned his attention to the higher education institutions. The Florida Governor expressed deep concern about reported instances of Jewish students and faculty being targeted on campuses across America. 'To see Hamas being supported on campuses is hard to fathom. But the issue escalates when Jewish students are pursued, when a Jewish faculty member is barred from entering a building, or when individuals are singled out because of their faith.' Governor DeSantis emphasized that such actions cross the line into harassment and violate acceptable behavior standards. 'This is not a matter of free speech anymore. Straightforwardly, this is harassment, and it's a breach of decorum and civility.' DeSantis didn't shy away from critiquing specific campuses that have featured in recent reports. He said, 'At esteemed places of learning, like Columbia and Yale, these individuals seem to have the upper hand. They conduct themselves with a disturbing level of impunity, which is only possible because certain administrators and university presidents lack the fortitude to take a stand.' The Governor resolutely denounced the passivity of such administrative bodies. 'These leaders appear weak and intimidated, seemingly paralyzed in the face of these tribulations, which is inexcusable. They need to step up, take responsibility, and restore order and peace back on their campuses.' In a sharp counterpoint to what he sees as the failures of some universities' administrations, DeSantis contrasted their lack of action with the strong stance Florida's educational institutions are prepared to take. 'Let me assure you, in Florida's universities, we have a completely different approach. Such behavior will be met with immediate repercussions.' Painting a picture of swift and decisive justice, DeSantis continued, 'We will be issuing an uncompromising directive - you misbehave in this manner, we show you the exit. Commit such acts, and you're out, as simple as that. It's time we uphold the dignity of our educational institutions.' The Florida Governor firmly believes in the power of consequences to act as a effective deterrent. 'The problem today is the lack of consequences which only emboldens more such anti-social behavior. But set an example and others will think twice before indulging in such actions.' In DeSantis's Florida, the time for consequences, it seems, is now. 'We're ready to play hardball. The time for tacit acceptance is over. We're bringing the hammer down. It's time to restore order in our state, in our schools, and in the lives of our citizens.' Governor DeSantis ended his fervent address with a powerful message. 'Rest assured, the moment people start feeling the heat of repercussions, we won't be having these chaotic scenes anymore.' Through his commanding address, Governor DeSantis once again affirmed his unyielding commitment to maintaining peace, order, and the rule of law within the state of Florida. DeSantis's bold stance only further cements his continued dedication to upholding the basic rights and freedoms of his citizens, ensuring they can carry out their daily lives without disruption, while providing a safe, respectful environment at educational institutions. Indeed, in a nation increasingly grappling with disruptive and potentially dangerous protests, Florida's leadership provides a beacon of hope that order, decency, and respect for one's fellow citizens can indeed be maintained in the midst of such chaos. Our current President, Joe Biden, once again let his guard down, revealing something he didn't intend to during a public event in Washington, D.C. this past Wednesday. The gaffe happened while he was musing about his plans and dreams for a hypothetical second term in office. In this unguarded moment, Biden expressed a statement, seemingly from his teleprompter, which was evidently not on the agenda to be vocalized publicly. Expressing an unforeseen aspiration for a second tenure, Biden said, 'Think about the possibilities, another four years.' His gaze appeared to be trying to focus on the teleprompter and a wry smile spread across his face as he witnessed the crowd spontaneously break into a chorus of 'Four more years!' While this might seem like a minor stumble, it underscores a pattern of strange blunders from the President. The steady stream of such faux pas sparks genuine unease about his cognitive health in this demanding role as the nation's leader, especially considering he is now well into his eighties. In fact, a significant proportion of Americans have expressed their low confidence in President Biden's mental capacity to handle the presidency, as shown by a study conducted by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The research, published in March, disclosed that 63% of adults in the United States had little or no trust in Biden's mental fitness for the top job. This data point is particularly interesting considering that, in a comparable question about former President Trump – who himself is also seeking a re-election bid this year and is now in his late 70s – just 57% of adults voiced the same level of concern. It presents a stark indication about the distinct shift in public sentiment on the subject of mental fitness for office between the two political rivals. Naturally, questions arise about the President's ability to perform his duties effectively given his age. When confronted with these issues, Biden offered a bracing rebuttal: 'Observe my actions.' However, apprehensions still persist among conservative factions, fueled by his tendency to make baffling and concerning remarks. In this recent gaffe, the official transcript released noted a portion of what the President had said as '(inaudible)', conveniently overlooking the importantly clear context provided by the recorded audio. However, it's not just conservatives who are starting to notice these lapses. An increasing number of citizens are beginning to worry about the President's mental sharpness and the implications of his position of leadership. This anxiety has been intensified by Biden's series of gaffes. These red flags, coupled with the President's evasion of questions about his mental capacity for the role, paint a concerning picture of the state of leadership in our country. An honest assessment of the situation seems to be underserved by the current administration's narrative. The public has every right to question and discuss their leader's aptitude, particularly when the leader of the free world is increasingly prone to such slips. The stakes are simply too high for this to be brushed under the carpet. This situation underpins the need for clarity and transparency from the leadership. Public concern cannot be dismissed or downplayed - it is a crucial part of our democracy. In essence, this blunder serves as yet another stark reminder. Constant scrutiny is a democratic necessity, but it does induce a moment of pause. Who is at the helm of our nation? A well-rested and ready captain that our country needs, or merely an empty seat? Staying committed to the ever-important principles of accountability and transparency for our public figures, such revelations and gaffes should not be downplayed or overlooked. They must be placed in broad daylight and critically examined. Only then can we ensure that the nation is guided by nothing but sound mind and sound policies. It is our responsibility as citizens to question, to scrutinize, and to hold accountable those in positions of power, particularly when their ability to execute such power responsibly is under question. It's not about partisan politics but rather about safeguarding our nation's future. While there, Guy also worked at a jewelry company, Nova Stylings. He said, "The jewelry business is a very, very tough business, tougher than the computer business... I learned a very valuable lesson: how to sell." It's helpful to know that we are all in sales every day. Whether you think you're in sales or not… You are. You're selling yourself, your ideas, projects, products. It's useful to learn how to sell. Melanie Perkins, CEO of Canva (which is an amazing product and company)... "She's Steve Jobs with heart and soul. They are on a relentless pursuit of perfection." Guy's counting dots story… It started in 6th grade. A teacher pushed him to go to a private school. That led to him getting into Stanford. This is where he met Mike Boich, who ended up hiring him at Apple. Then getting asked to go on the TEDx stage with Jane Goodall… Guy has made the most of the good fortune in his life… Steve Jobs/Change Your Mind: Guy launched his tech career at Apple as the company's “chief evangelist,” marketing the original Macintosh computer. When Jobs first introduced the iPhone in 2007, it was a closed system — no one outside of Apple could create an app for it. Software developers had to use a Safari plugin to make their app work on the phone, as they weren't able to access the iPhone's system directly in order to ensure the phone's security. Just one year later, however, Jobs made a complete “180-degree reversal,” The founder opened the iPhone system to the public after realizing how much more the device could offer customers with apps written by anyone with a good idea. “I learned the very valuable lesson that when you're doing something wrong when you're doing something sub-optimally, it's a sign of intelligence to change your mind.” Throughout our conversation, Guy talks about being an evangelist, and the definition of that is to “bring the good news.” Default to yes. Make yourself indispensable. Learn to say, "I'm sorry," and "I don't know." Guy shares a story about a disagreement he had with Steve Jobs and how that cost him millions of dollars… But he learned an important lesson from Steve that has impacted him ever since.

The podcast Think Twice examines one of the toughest subjects in American pop culture: Michael Jackson. Not just his biography or his art, but what he means. The greatest pop music icon ever. An avatar of the complexity of race in America. And of course, an accused child molester. How do we deal with all these things? How should we? What do we remember? What have we forgotten? Think Twice asks these questions. The show is hosted by journalist Leon Neyfakh and writer Jay Smooth. Leon and Jay join us to talk about Think Twice and the complicated legacy of Michael Jackson. Content Warning: This interview discusses the allegations that Michael Jackson abused children. If you or someone you're listening with might be sensitive to that, we wanted to give you a heads up.
