Joe Davies, is one half of a powerhouse property duo who recently made a life-changing move - exiting their successful serviced accommodation management agency in Liverpool and relocating to sunny Spain. Now, while enjoying a slower pace of life, he and his wife Katy are still actively growing their UK property portfolio.I first met Joe and Katy a couple of years ago and was instantly struck by their drive, business acumen, and passion for personal development - qualities that have helped them achieve remarkable success before even turning 30. While Katy isn't joining us in this episode (something we'll hopefully fix in the future!), Joe shares his incredible journey from launching a small side hustle to building a thriving business and ultimately selling it for a lucrative exit. Now, a quick heads-up: This conversation was originally recorded with the intention of launching a new podcast centered around Joe's expertise in serviced accommodation. While that specific plan has been parked for now, he's still working closely with me on other aspects of the IPI business, so expect to hear more from him in the future. There are a few moments where we reference our podcast plans, but regardless, Joe's insights into scaling a business, navigating challenges, and making bold decisions will be invaluable, whether you're building your own portfolio, running a property business, or juggling both. ********************Welcome to the Inside Property Investing Podcast with Mike Stenhouse. Following his debut LP on Smallville Records in April, Joe Davies returns with a fresh take on the opening track Hi-Life, now reimagined as the Frankfurt Mix, offering a new mask, outfit, and flavour in his forthcoming Pardon My Late Response 4-track EP on the same imprint. This dub-house track exudes sophistication, with its echoing chords, textured soundscapes, and off-kilter percussion. Wherever you are in the world, it evokes a sense of warmth, its timing especially poignant as the festival season draws to a close — a welcomed embrace. Elevated to another level from the original, this version retains the soft bird sounds, teasing conversation, and dreamlike tranquillity, yet carries a driving force beneath its surface. The track, with its hazy finish, offers a fitting close to the EP, as we watch the sun go down. Listening to both versions of Hi-Life back-to-back is highly recommended. It's great to see Joe return so quickly under this alias, focusing on the deeper, more floaty side of his productions. Pardon My Late Response, including Hi-Life (Frankfurt Mix), will be available on vinyl and digital via Smallville Records on 13th September. We missed UK Proms in the Park last year, much to our disappointment. So we were delighted to be invited to come along to this year's event, set at the West Mids Showground. The UK Proms in the Park is an open-air classical concert featuring a wonderful orchestra lead by Alex Postlethwaite and conducted by Joe Davies. When is comes to culture, classical music is the engine that drives it. Whether it be operas, TV shows, cartoons or movies classical music is the perfect companion to all media in general. So, Alex was in his absolute element running around with a microphone speaking to musicians, organisers and sampling music too (including a beautiful solo by the one and only Katy Rink!). We tried to get a lengthy interview with organiser Peter Metcalf but he was here, there and everywhere doing his thing. We spoke to conductor Joe Davies, leader Alex Postlethwaite, the beautiful voice that is Samantha Oxborough and compare/singer Rodney Earl Clarke.WORD-UP! Ok, so we implemented a new game on the show (at probably the worst time) We asked for a list of random words that had to be wedged into conversations that took place on this podcast. We had 46 words, but how well do you think Alex did shoehorning them into his interviews? The UK Proms in the Park is a tour and there are 3 more shows to go in Warwick Castle, Bath and Windsor so if you would like tickets, we highly recommend taking a look at the website for more information and ticket sales - https://www.ukacgroup.com/ukpromsinthepark-1

Hello and welcome to season 2 of the Jenni Talks podcast. In this season we are going to focus on conversations with people about creating new opportunities, communities and spaces for young people & youth workers to engage with as a result of the pandemic. My book, From Isolation to Community: Youth Work in the Covid Era and Beyond which captures a snapshot of what has been happening in this past year is available now from my website www.jenniosborn.org in either Kindle or paperback format. On my website you will find more details about mentoring and training that I offer - do get in touch if you are interested. This episode is a conversation with Joe Davies of the Mid-Faith Crisis podcast. We talk about the process of deconstruction of faith, the need for questions and doubt to be a part of faith. This is a conversation that has a personal element to it for me, having had some really difficult times wrestling with faith and beliefs that I once followed without questioning suddenly becoming the source of many questions! I know that I am not the only one and wanted to have this conversation to connect with those listening who might feel similarly, maybe you've reached a place of acceptance with doubt and questions, maybe you're just at the beginning of this process, either way I agree with Joe that it's a necessary part of life and faith. It might feel like you're in the chrysalis, hanging on by a thread but brighter days are coming… I hope you enjoy this conversation and don't forget to share! Podcast in which Beacon Editor, Joe Davies, talks to Dr. Lina Khatib, Head of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House, and Prof. Eugene Rogan, Director of the Middle East Centre at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, on "What can - and should - the West do to support the Syrian people?".In 2011, the Syrian people took to the street to peacefully protest against the Assad regime, demanding democratic reforms and the release of political prisoners. The past 7 years since has seen the West fail to prevent the regime's chemical attacks on innocent civilians, fail to take sufficient steps to protect the estimated 5 million refugees that have fled Syria, and fail to help Syria shift to a path of peacebuilding and reconciliation. These are issues the West must not continue to ignore. But, what can be done to ensure a transition to a new leader, and a democratic regime in Syria? Or is an emboldened Assad an inevitable outcome of this violent conflict? Put simply, what can - and should - the West do now to support the Syrian people?
In this episode, we will be considering how alpacas and holiday-lets can work together to make a great experience for visitors and how alpacas can be added to what you are already doing. I first met Nick and Joe Davies at one of our home-farm open days. They had a look in their eyes and asked the kind of questions that suggested alpacas had grabbed their attention. They had relatively recently moved into a property with some land and an established barn conversion holiday-let. This lifestyle choice to move from Buckinghamshire in south-east England to rural Carmarthenshire in Wales was following a dream and Nick’s passion for alpacas suddenly seemed like a possibility. They subsequently bought four castrated males alpacas and did some husbandry training to get started with alpacas alongside their holiday destination. The farm has woodland, meadow areas and a stream, as well as the main field up near the accommodation and house, now home to the alpacas and often the mini-horses. Host Andrew Misra is joined by no fewer than six guests in a crammed studio for this festive party edition of the podcast! There’s a couple of new faces, a couple of returning faces and, well, some not so new ones... As we move into the season characterised by overindulgence, we start with a look back at a largely bygone era of boozing in football. After Lionel Messi bagged two free kicks in one La Liga game last weekend, we raise our own favourite events that have occurred multiple times in one game. Of course, there's a dash of trivia to boot. Guest list: Kieran Ahuja, Joe Davies, Jack Perry, Lewis Steele, Barney Stephenson and (a mostly muted) April Curtin.
Jon and Robin Voils of Celebrate Libraries® interview Director Joe Davies of Burlington Public Library for a New Ways To Dream® podcast
Joe Davies is one of the seminal figures in Biomedia. His work has shocked and polarised the artistic community while at the same time laying the foundations for a new artistic discipline. The artist is a research affiliate in the Department of Biology at MIT and his research and art include work in the fields of molecular biology, bioinformatics, and sculpture. With his practice, he was one of the first to blur the lines between art and modern biology, In the late 1980s, Davis collaborated with molecular biologist Dana Boyd to insert for the first time a non-biological DNA message into a coding sequence. The recipient was the bacterial strain E. coli, one of the basic tools in molecular biology labs. The work, named Microvenus, encoded a binary representation of the Germanic rune for the female goddess of earth and life. The piece was a response to the Pioneer plaques designed by astronomers Frank Drake and Carl Sagan that were sent aboard Pioneer spacecraft with the intention of being intercepted by extraterrestrial life. The plaques depict the location of the Earth in the solar system and galaxy, the trajectory of the Pioneer spacecraft, and anatomical depictions of the human form. Davis took issue with the relative lack of detail of the female figure compared to the male figure and used Microvenus as a counter-argument for how we, as a species, outwardly represent ourselves. More recently, Davis has been working on encoding the top 50,000 pages of the English Wikipedia page into bacteria to be transferred into apple trees. The project is titled Malus ecclesia and is both a biblical reference to the apple tree in the garden of Eden as well as George Church, the principal investigator for the lab at Harvard Medical School where Davis holds an appointment. Davis' interest in plants also extends to one of his current projects, Astrobiological Horticulture, where he is investigating the potential for biological gardens in space. Throughout his highly productive career, two projects stand out as being particularly ambitious; Call me Ishmel, a 110-foot lightning tower in memoriam for Hurricane Katrina, and Bacterial Radio, a crystal radio system that uses a protein derived from marine sponges to create an electrical circuit capable of receiving AM radio transmissions. Davis work on the bacterial radio, which was assisted by molecular biologists Tara Gianoulis and Ido Bachelet, garnered critical acclaim for its technical sophistication and sustainability and was awarded the 2012 Ars Electronica Golden Nica in Hybrid Art. To become familiar with Joe Davis’ work is to come into an understanding of the creative potential for Biomedia and its relationship to culture and semiotics This podcast was produced by CLOT Magazine editorial team and Stephen Mclaughlin
