Exploring the Northern Rockies by Float Plane Lance Egan spent an unforgettable week at Northern Rockies Adventures, fishing six out of seven days and staying at the lodge right off the Alaska Highway. The experience combined world-class fishing, comfortable accommodations, and breathtaking views. Lance landed rainbows, bull trout, grayling, northern pike, and lake trout while exploring the remote waters. With 132 million hectares of wilderness and 80+ fishing locations, the possibilities were endless. Even after a week, it felt like they had only scratched the surface. One of the biggest highlights? How can a pilot strive to be a better leader both in the cockpit and on the ground? What is the RCAF doing well for leadership, and what do they need to work on? Today for part 2 of this interview we'll sit down with MGen(Ret) Scott Clancy and talk about some of the successes and challenges Scott faced as a leader, what challenges the RCAF faces in terms of leadership, and how we can develop pilots who lead. Scott served for 37 years in the RCAF and flew the CH-135 Twin Huey and the CH-146 Griffon. He held numerous leadership positions including the Commander of 1 Wing and its 7 Squadrons, as well as Director of Operations for NORAD. He is also an author and wrote the book "Developing Coaching Leaders".

  Spending a solid portion of your first skydive trying to figure out how to get back in the King Air might not be how you'd expect a championship skydivers career to begin, but that's exactly how it went for Richö Butts. A self proclaimed mellow child, it wasn't until motorcycles entered his life that Richö Started to see the appeal in a slightly more ‘radical' lifestyle. Even with motorcycles having become a passion for him, one might think an individual whose profession is risk assessment might be a bit more adverse to it in their own life - yet from skydiving to rally car driving, motorcycles to aerobatic aircraft, BASE and more, there's simply no doubt Richö Butts has a real thirst for the Lunatic Fringe side of life. 

What does it take to be a leader in the RCAF? How does that translate to being a good pilot? What is the difference between coaching and leading, and how can we utilize both skillsets? Today we'll sit down with MGen(Ret) Scott Clancy and talk all things leadership as well as his book "Developing Coaching Leaders". Scott served for 37 years in the RCAF and flew the CH-135 Twin Huey and the CH-146 Griffon. He held numerous leadership positions including the Commander of 1 Wing and its 7 Squadrons, as well as Director of Operations for NORAD.

The DEA recently pulled its surveillance plane out of Mexico due to increasing operational restrictions and political tensions with the Mexican government. This aircraft, a twin-turboprop King Air, had been stationed in Toluca, Mexico, for decades and played a crucial role in anti-narcotics missions. It transported elite Mexican forces and U.S. agents for rapid response operations against drug cartels, including major raids and extraditions of cartel leaders.Problems for the DEA began after President Andrés Manuel López Obrador took office in late 2018. The Mexican Secretariat of National Defense started requiring a written request two weeks before any flight, severely limiting the flexibility needed for effective anti-narcotics operations. Despite efforts to negotiate with the Mexican government, the DEA's use of the plane stagnated.Mexico's Attorney General's Office asked the DEA to vacate its hangar space at Toluca airport, prompting the agency to move the aircraft to Texas.
