Muguruza lost, again. She now has 10 losses on the season, and only 7 wins. Is she finished? Who is more finished, her or Kvitova? Where they do they rank amongst their colleagues Vika, Kerber, in terms of finishedness? Is that even a word? Now it is. What do you make of Kudermetova's win over Sabalenka? BHM stays winning!!! So does Alexandrova, I can't believe she's not playing Wimbledon. McNally has more wins on grass this season than any other player, 7. Can she keep going? I think yes. I recap today's matches and preview tomorrow's slate, as well as look at the draw and how things stand going into.
Ajla Tomljanovic is dead to me, and Belinda Bencic is on fraud watch. Harriet Dart just isn't that girl, and British tennis fans definitely need one (this is a low blow aimed towards Emma). There were some good performances today: Kudermetova, Alexandrova, Martincova, Riske. Sabalenka clutched a 3S tiebreak against the Ostrich, in a match that shouldn't have been that complicated. Alexandrova looks like she is nearing 'final form', and it could be scary, not for her though. WTA Qualis tomorrow in Birmingham and Berlin, those are our two grass tournaments for next week. Have a good weekend!
Today we talk about Emma Raducanu, and every match from today, of course. I find myself talking about Ajla Tomljanovic, again and again. McNally unsuspectingly good so far, Alison Riske the same, except less unsuspectingly. I talk about my 'list' and why Elena Rybakina's spot is at stake. Bencic has a chance to showcase what she's got against Kudermetova, a non-participant at Wimbledon. Alexandrova, Sabalenka, also on that list, so could they ball out this grass season, or do they not care?

I think Novak Djokovic will agree, but I was stunned by Nadal's level to start the match. Nadal gets one back over Novak, bringing their H2H to 30-29 in favor of Nole. Zverev with a very good win, and gets Nadal next; I like an upset there. Coco Gauff beats Sloane, and Martina Trevisan keeps winning. I like an upset there too, that's our first WTA SF. Iga x Pegula tomorrow should be very good, same with Kasatkina x Kudermetova. Rune and Cilic could be the semifinal we never knew we needed.

Sabalenka beats new world no.2 Badosa. Iga Swiatek beats Samsonova in 3 hours. Sabalenka is coming for her neck. Kudermetova stomps Cirstea, and Potapova continues to impress. Look for Kudermetova to win the final (!!!) in the all-Russian affair.
There is only one: Aryna Sabalenka. Fantastic day of betting, and a fantastic day of tennis matches, except for Badosa x Jabeur. Good on Emma for avoiding bakery products altogether in her 64 64 loss to Bad Girl Iga. Anna Bondar is the best player you've never heard of, and her match against Kudermetova was the match of the day that you will also never hear about it. Twitter: @SaifSmacks
After a week break, the guys return and there's a shit ton to talk about. The biggest story of the week was the fan heckling of Naomi Osaka during her 2nd round loss to Kudermetova 6-0, 6-4. The female fan yelled out 'you suck' multiple times before Kudermetova's service game, leading to a discussion between Naomi and the umpire. The incident clearly shook her and impacted the result. The guys reflect on her journey with mental health, the inappropriate behaviour of fans, and how the 2018 US Open Final might have impacted her reaction in the match Other Items on the Desert Dish Menu: Amanda Anisimova's moment -- she got sick Leylah the fighter and three-set lover Mugu's mid-match breakdown Iga on fire Sakkari continues her roll... can she break through? Halep's surge Ostapenko... is she a Nike girl Nadal keeps winning... matches and with his kit the 'New' Big 3 of Medvedev, Tsitsipas and Zverev go out early The guys weigh in on news that Wimbledon may ban Russian players like Daniil Medvedev is they don't offer some assurance that they denounce Vladimir Putin's regime... is that fair? And Serena says she would go to jail for doing what Zverev did... would Serena receive more punishment and backlash for similar behaviour? Get merch at the Ready Play Shopify store! Losing a deciding set is no fun. Especially if it's after you won the first, and especially losing it in a tiebreak. Mixed results from our bets, although the WTA St. Petersburg tournament seems to be delightful thus far. Kudermetova, Giorgi, Teichmann, Cornet, all with first round exits. That's how good the draw is. Kvitova loses tomorrow? Can Xinyu Wang get it going? Shapovalov plays who?
Carlitos Alcaraz, Aslan Karatsev, Madison Keys, Kudermetova, Sakkari, Qinwen Zheng, Qiang Wang, and much more. BIG recap and my thoughts on the first three days of action thus far, with a big look-ahead of the WTA Round 3 & 4 as well as some QF matchups potentially. As always, we recap every match from last night and cover every match coming up tonight.

The draw has become much more inviting for the underrated Kudermetova, Andrey Rublev suffers another clay-court loss he barely deserved, and Aleksandra Krunic forces Coco Gauff to play marathon set.
Hold On to Your Racket with Josefina Gurevich and Shravya Pant
For the second time in HOTYR history, we are back at the French Open! The main draw of Roland Garros opens tomorrow so we sat down to discuss the tournament to come and the hottest headlines. We unpack Naomi Osaka's press boycott, the backlash it's gotten, and why we think she made the right decision, exploring the deeper nuances of the media's pressures on athletes, particularly BIPOC female athletes like Osaka herself. We then dive into the draws, highlighting favorites like Barty, Swiatek, Sabalenka, Djokovic, Tsitsipas, and Nadal, along with more surprising players who we think could make inroads such as Kudermetova, Badosa, Berrettini, and Garin. It's a stacked draw for the WTA defending champ and a generational split across the two halves of the ATP draw, so tune in to see which players will shine through and which will have a sour (get it?) clay slam. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/holdontoyourracket/message
