Blijven we in Group I of degraderen we naar Groep II? We spraken erover met tenniscommentator Marcella Mesker. OMG, the humanity! Mike and Sam become quivering wrecks in the presence of Aussie tennis greatness. In this very special edition of Pod Laver Arena, they talk to the heroic captain of Australia's Billie Jean King Cup team — none other than Samantha Stosur! Watch in awe, as Sam moves from genuine pity of our hosts to a general acceptance of their vapid buffoonery. The former world #4 spills all the beans on the upcoming BJK Cup clash and reveals whether local hero, Talia Gibson will embrace the nickname 'Gibbo' (can confirm it's no, no she will not). Oh, and Sam also harks back to the time she kicked Serena Williams' ass in the US Open final. Solid, solid memories. Cram it in your ears!

Carolyn Broderick joins Viv and Matt in Pod Laver Arena to give listeners an insight into her role as Chief Medical Officer at Tennis Australia and for the Australian Open. Hundreds of tennis players are soon to arrive in Australia in January, the majority from a Northern Hemisphere winter. It means they face a huge adjustment – after having traversed multiple time zones – when they begin preparing and competing in the Australian summer. We learn about the “self-sufficient medical centre” that operates for four weeks at the AO, staffed by a multi-disciplinary team that offers physical and mental health services, plus annual scans and checks for players who might not be able to easily access these given their constant travel schedule. We also hear about Broderick’s roles with the Australian Olympic and Billie Jean King Cup teams, her work in academic and children’s health spheres, and how she juggles it all while pursuing her many passions outside of work.

Knowles also explains how Taylor Fritz and Alex De Minaur were able to lead Team World to a victory over Team Europe in the Laver Cup, and why Andre Agassi was right where he belongs as the captain of the winning squad. The broadcaster also analyzes how Iga Swiatek, Alexander Bublik and Alejandro Bublik were able to win tournaments as the Asian Swing kicks off, and predicts what to expect when Novak Djokovic takes the court in a few weeks time in Shanghai. And Knowles weighs in on Roger Federer's comments on the courts being too homogenized, Italy's Billie Jean King Cup title, and why good advice from your team is crucial to the development of young players.
