A SUPERSIZED episode packed with tons of interviews with artists, authors, creators, cosplayers and collectors from the first day of C2E2 2025. This year the largest comic and pop culture convention in the region took place from April 11-13 at the McCormick Convention Center in downtown Chicago. With panels from such massive fandoms as the Lord of the Rings, and a reunion of the cast of the 80's movie The Breakfast Club, along with plenty of other celebrities on hand for autos and pictures, C2E2 was set to draw even larger crowds this year, as the numbers have been increasing exponentially since the close of the pandemic years where shows were postponed.I was able to talk with folks I knew and have had on the show before, and talk to a bunch of new creators and people who were ready to show their wares to the fans coming in. A big thanks to all who gave me some of their time and were so awesome to peel back some of the curtain on how things work if you are there to show off your work. Plus plenty of tips for you if you want to attend and check out some of the show areas.Check out the full list of people below and be sure to check out, like and subscribe their pages and social sites. They put a lot of hard work in to help make the fabric of the show so amazing.Once again the 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, Rebel Legion was part of the Family HQ block and had some great displays set up for folks to take pictures.Featured Guests:Daniel Govar - ArtistWebsite: https://www.danielgovar.comStore: https://danielgovar.bigcartel.com@saulone on Twitter@danielgovar on InstagramNick & Candace PobladorCNFactoryhttps://www.etsy.com/shop/cnfactoryOn Instagram @cnfactorychiBret JulianoArtist & Illustrator@dustbunnymahfia on IGbret@dustbunnymafia.comComics.dustbunny.comMikey BabinskiMikey Babinski @mikey_babinski on InstagramWSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast WSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast Todd HoffmanKarl Schmidt Joe BialekVictor @fandadsAshleigh poppellwellArturo Delgado@TuroseekerJavier Esqueda TK-265 @joliet_batmanShawn Mika @fettcicleKira Mashado @kirra_karabastNicole Markhenke Instagram @peacelovefandoms - @PL_Fandoms on X@red5readingBill & Celeste Hjelmgren https://www.nonsportcardshows.com/Karl Schmidt - Collector@pileo64 on InstagramJared Nielsen Ultraman Card Gamehttps://ultraman-cardgame.com/page/us/topChristopher Brimmage - AuthorMandrill, P.I.https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/brimmageAshleigh PopplewellArtist@ampopplewell on IGwww.ashleighpopplewell.comHomestead KeepingThe latest issue of (Apr/May 25) has a nice retrospective article on the Living Set, one year after the 500 card set came to a close. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Star Wars Day is finally here! And with the coronavirus pandemic finally starting to wane, fans are ready to get back to exploring the worlds they love with the people outside of their household. Today on the Fan Effect Podcast host KellieAnn Halvorsen is joined by local Star Wars fan clubs that can help you get back to action from costuming, saber fighting, and even droid building. For years Utah chapters of The 501st Legion, Mandalorian Mercs, The Rebel Legion, The Saber Guild, and more have been using their passion for the Star Wars universe to raise awareness and funds for non-profit organizations like Make-a-Wish and more. As a community these fans are dedicated to “one galaxy, one goal;” using their fandom to help others. In this episode we are joined by Mike Porter, Ruus’alor (Sergeant at Arms) of the Krayt Clan chapter of the Mandalorian Mercs, Brenda Ahlemann, Commanding Officer of the Alpine Garrison: The 501st Legion, Jakob Tice, former Commanding Officer as well as a founding member of the Rogue Base of the Rebel Legion, and Rocky Mountain Droid Builders Phillip Bareither, builder of all things astromech. Beyond Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Gaming and Tech, the brains behind Fan Effect are connoisseurs of categories surpassing the nerdy. Brilliant opinions and commentary on all things geek, but surprising knowledge and witty arguments over pop culture, Star Trek, MARVEL vs DC, and a wide range of movies, TV shows, and more. Formerly known as SLC Fanboys, the show is hosted by Andy Farnsworth and KellieAnn Halvorsen, who are joined by guest-experts. Based in the beautiful beehive state, Fan Effect celebrates Utah’s unique fan-culture as it has been declared The Nerdiest State in America by TIME. Phoenix Fan Fusion is one of our favorite big comic cons to attend. They are considered one of the big 6 comic cons, even with the slight decrease in attendance last year. Just like the mythical Phoenix, they are rising anew from the ashes of last year. They have a new name now... Phoenix Fan Fusion! They have also stacked their featured guest line up with some pretty impressive names. Jeff Goldblum, Paul Reubens, John Barrowman, George Takei, Elijah Wood, and Billy Dee Williams just to name a few. Those featured guests will be up on the third floor in the Hall of Heroes. While you are fanboying/fangirling over your favorite guest you can also check out all the fan clubs/cosplay groups there. Star Wars always has a big corner with the 501st, Rebel Legion, R2 Builders Club, and the Mandalorian Mercs all joining together for an unforgettable experience. There will be fan clubs for Judge Dredd, Firefly (Browncoats), Doctor Who, and so many more. You can spend an entire day ( and a load of money) on the third floor. If panels are your thing, you will find more than you can possibly attend. Most panels take place on the second floor. You name the topic and I'm sure they have a panel for it. The ground floor is gonna be taken up mostly with food vendors and a few stray panel rooms. The exhibit hall is down one floor. The convention center is separated on the ground floor by a street, but it is connected underground. The exhibit hall is enormous. You can spend the better part of a day just shopping. in the lobby area underground there is always some interesting interactive stuff set up. Make sure to look around there before you run into the exhibit hall. Las year they had a beer garden/food truck area set up on the street between the two convention center sides. That was really a nice perk last year. Being able to step outside under cover of a tent and grab a beer and maybe some tacos was nice. More and more of the businesses and hotels surrounding the event area are starting to participate in the festivities as well. There will be tons of con specials and off site events. Best thing is, tickets are readily available. You can get a full event pass for around $85, which is a huge bargain. If you plan on cosplaying, please read their rules regarding what can and can't be brought into the convention center. Security of the guests and attendees are very important. You can find us probably in one of the autograph or photo op lines. If you see us, come talk to us. We'd love to hear from you. We have also added a Google Voice number where you can call and leave us your thoughts. If they are good, we will use them on the show. The number is (575) 323-1332. Join us for days 3, 4, and 5 of Star Wars Celebration Chicago! Be sure to check out the post on our website for photos and links and all of the good stuff that goes along with this episode: https://childrenoftheforce.com/2019/04/21/episode-131-days-3-4-and-5-of-star-wars-celebration-chicago/After some opening thoughts about Celebration and some news of how we’re acclimating back into our regular lives, we get into it…SATURDAY [7:40]The Rebels Remembered panel was great, emotional and hilarious. We stopped by the Star Wars Show stage and Cameron took our picture, as you can see here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BwNZbZqAnv1/Then we witnessed The Running of the Hoods, which is delightfully bizarre. Check out the videos on our Twitter feed here: https://twitter.com/ForceChildren/status/1117291095543701505Then we went to the Sisters of the Force panel on the Celebration stage, which was a great conversation full of appreciation and tears. The energy in that stadium was so amazing. And we ended the day with A Star Wars Let’s Play, the video game panel. Which was so funny my face was sore at the end of it. I wish I would have taken video of this panel. Alas...But actually, we ended the day with the Podcast Meetup at the hotel bar. It was a blast. So fun to meet some of our fellow podcasters. SUNDAY [34:50]We went to the Mandalorian panel on the Celebration stage. It was awesome and we’ll talk more about it on an upcoming show! (It's hard to see, but there are ton of Mandalorian Mercs right in the middle of that photo holding up their helmets.)EK Johnston signed a couple books and we had a great conversation with her about Crokinole. Then we met Andi Gutierrez and Anthony Carboni and Scott Bromley! I got Anthony Daniels autograph on my 1977 trading card of 3PO! And he held the action figure I’ve owned nearly my entire life! Then we went to the Clone Wars panel, which was awesome! You can watch it here (including the clips from upcoming episodes and the trailer for the new season!):https://youtu.be/I0XlB2EJZuA?t=10We ended the day with laughter again at the Anthony Daniels one-man show. Which included us all singing along to this video of 3PO on Sesame Street: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDRlZHn_oPEMONDAY [54:00]We went to the Celebration Store, which was pretty cool. The kids got this photo with a Loth Wolf: We saw the awe-inspiring completed diorama. Met Ryan and Dillon from the Me and My Padawan podcast. We ran into the Geeky Bubble crew! And we got Peter Mayhew’s autograph on my 1977 trading card of Chewbacca!FINAL THOUGHTS ABOUT CELEBRATION [1:16:35]OUTRO [1:20:10]Thanks for listening! Send us a voicemail or email us at forcechildren@gmail.com if you want to take part in the discussion or just give us some feedback. Thanks!

Vais a quedar alucinados. Fangirls Going Rogue: Star Wars Conversation from a Female POV
On this month’s episode of Fangirls Going Rogue, Steve Glosson of Geek Out Loud joins Teresa Delgado and Tricia Barr for a lively and fun discussion about Star Wars. Before getting started, the hosts sent their thoughts and prayers out to Robin Williams and his loved ones. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline Phone Number 1-800-273-8255 After the segue to end all segues, Teresa shared listener emails on a variety of topics, including cosplay and fandom fatherhood. The ladies are always happy to hear that listeners are surprised they enjoy hearing about Star Wars from the fangirl perspective! Steve Glosson photobombs the Fangirls Going Rogue at the RebelForce Radio meet-up at Star Wars Weekends. (Photo by David Manderville) After the Fangirls bestowed Steve with the title of honorary fangirl, he shared his first memories of Star Wars – falling asleep during The Empire Strikes Back! – and what being a fan means to him. What’s new in Star Wars? Apparently a lot! Tricia, Teresa, and Steve shared their favorites. They include the new Star Wars Rebels clips, Vanessa Marshall and Tiya Sircar being admitted into the Mandalorian Mercs, San Diego Comic-Con’s Hallmark exclusives, A New Dawn by John Jackson Miller, Episode VII filming in Ireland, a fanfilm with ties to a University of Georgia football star, and Kevin Smith’s reaction to his visit to Pinewood Studios. After an explanation of Justin Bolger’s tweet from the Star Wars Rebels panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Steve helped the fangirls talk about the double standards that exist in fandom. A tweet by a Star Wars parody account also was discussed. Gatekeeping in fandom wasn’t going to dull the enthusiasm on the show for all things Star Wars on the horizon. Teresa looks forward to Star Wars Itty Bitties, and Tricia to the last Legacy Volume 2 comic issue and Fantasy Flight’s RPG Age of Rebellion. The character discussion got a bit hairy this episode as Steve chose Chewbacca. We considered his place in the saga, his death, and whether the Wookiee should always win. Be sure to check out Steve’s shows including Geek Out Loud and Disney Vault Talk, which is co-hosted by Teresa. Follow Steve on Twitter at @GeekOutLoud. Bryan had the fortune and pleasure of moderating and participating on the Episode VII speculation panel at Dragon Con. He was joined by Tom Hutchens, Founder of the Mandalorian Mercs, James Clark from www.bobafett.com, Shaun Rosado from the Shauncastic podcast, and Bethany and Riley Blanton from The Star Wars Report. They talked about what we do know, what we don't know, and what fans should expect, all in front of a live studio audience. Full Of Sith is a safe haven for Star Wars fans, no matter what you like or what your opions are, we'd love for you to share them with us. Please do so by sending us a voicemail or email.
