A SUPERSIZED episode packed with tons of interviews with artists, authors, creators, cosplayers and collectors from the first day of C2E2 2025. This year the largest comic and pop culture convention in the region took place from April 11-13 at the McCormick Convention Center in downtown Chicago. With panels from such massive fandoms as the Lord of the Rings, and a reunion of the cast of the 80's movie The Breakfast Club, along with plenty of other celebrities on hand for autos and pictures, C2E2 was set to draw even larger crowds this year, as the numbers have been increasing exponentially since the close of the pandemic years where shows were postponed.I was able to talk with folks I knew and have had on the show before, and talk to a bunch of new creators and people who were ready to show their wares to the fans coming in. A big thanks to all who gave me some of their time and were so awesome to peel back some of the curtain on how things work if you are there to show off your work. Plus plenty of tips for you if you want to attend and check out some of the show areas.Check out the full list of people below and be sure to check out, like and subscribe their pages and social sites. They put a lot of hard work in to help make the fabric of the show so amazing.Once again the 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, Rebel Legion was part of the Family HQ block and had some great displays set up for folks to take pictures.Featured Guests:Daniel Govar - ArtistWebsite: https://www.danielgovar.comStore: https://danielgovar.bigcartel.com@saulone on Twitter@danielgovar on InstagramNick & Candace PobladorCNFactoryhttps://www.etsy.com/shop/cnfactoryOn Instagram @cnfactorychiBret JulianoArtist & Illustrator@dustbunnymahfia on IGbret@dustbunnymafia.comComics.dustbunny.comMikey BabinskiMikey Babinski @mikey_babinski on InstagramWSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast WSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast Todd HoffmanKarl Schmidt Joe BialekVictor @fandadsAshleigh poppellwellArturo Delgado@TuroseekerJavier Esqueda TK-265 @joliet_batmanShawn Mika @fettcicleKira Mashado @kirra_karabastNicole Markhenke Instagram @peacelovefandoms - @PL_Fandoms on X@red5readingBill & Celeste Hjelmgren https://www.nonsportcardshows.com/Karl Schmidt - Collector@pileo64 on InstagramJared Nielsen Ultraman Card Gamehttps://ultraman-cardgame.com/page/us/topChristopher Brimmage - AuthorMandrill, P.I.https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/brimmageAshleigh PopplewellArtist@ampopplewell on IGwww.ashleighpopplewell.comHomestead KeepingThe latest issue of (Apr/May 25) has a nice retrospective article on the Living Set, one year after the 500 card set came to a close. Rounding out the month of September, I am joined by LilipopeCosplay as we get a wonderful episode filled with fandom! Li has a number of fandoms we get to talk about, and we kick things off with one of her favorites, Star Wars. We talk all about how she first got into the fandom. We're talking about the movies, TV shows, books, and so much more. We're both fond of the Legends run of books (formerly called the Expanded Universe), and we do have to talk about one of her favorites - Mara Jade. Then we go from one big fandom to another, as we join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Li talks about the movies and TV series that she's drawn to in the MCU, along with some of her favorite characters. We also talk about the future of the MCU and what she's looking forward to. Then we go to my birthday twin, Taylor Swift! Taylor is like a wizard, she arrives precisely when she's meant to. Li talks about how she first got into the music of Taylor Swift. We talk about favorite Era's, favorite songs, and how her music has been a part of Li's life. Then we're wrapping up with talking about Cosplay. Li talks about how she first got into cosplay, and the characters that she cosplays as. Li also talks about her experiences with costuming groups like the Rebel Legion and the 501st, and volunteering for charity. She also talks about what she's working on for the future. We were thrilled to be joined by composer Taylor Goodson. As a longtime Star Wars fan and member of the 501st and the Rebel Legion costuming groups, Taylor was certainly inclined to enjoy his time aboard the Halcyon. Lucky for us, he found it inspiring as well and he recently posted a beautiful piece of music that he wrote as way to express his feelings toward this magnificent experience. Doubly lucky for us, he shared those feelings with all of us AND the music in the episode as well!Stay tuned at the end of the episode for Taylor's piece inspired by his time aboard the Galactic Starcruiser - "The Lady's Legacy".TG SoundsTaylor's InstagramThe Lady's LegacySupport the showHeroes of the Halcyon on InstagramTheme Music ("Digital Discourse") by Yellow BarrelSend your email to heroesofthehalcyon@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you about your journeys, episode suggestions, or just to say hi!
All-around groovy geek and author Tracy Wilson (aka James T. Wilson) on his indie horror novel Zombie Bytes, also chatting about cool things like his involvement with the Star Wars costuming association the 501st Legion. The pain and timeline of writing a novel. What is “success”? What's the real threat of a zombie apocalypse? Thoughts on when it was time to stop watching The Walking Dead. World War Z: the book versus the movie. Shane is currently into On Patrol Live. Shane confesses to a geek heresy as a child. Multiple bad zombie jokes. For May the 4th it's Homestead keeping, a regular segment within most of the base shows, but since there was a bunch of little bits I've recorded over the past few weeks, as Mandalorian came to a close, it made since to coming them into one show, as we get closer to the Galaxy Anniversary show, which wouldn't have much more room, as it will be crammed with awesome interviews from a good group of folks. On the program: David Nicely Jenny Riddle Kara DJ Sam Tashima Romeo Ortiz David Nicely Instagram @dln619 Jenny Riddle 501st Alabama Garrison http://www.empirestrikesbama.com Tranquility Base https://rebellegion.com/tranquility-base/ Star Wars CCG Players Council & Card Resources https://www.starwarsccg.org Kara DJ Into a Larger world Fanzine https://campsite.bio/intoalargerworldbykara Sam Tashima Instagram @tashi_station Romeo Ortiz Instagram @rpg_la @vintagestarwarsclub @gonktoys https://linktr.ee/gonktoys?fbclid=PAAabrtG3JDvNyMRPdofW3JQh9Lp-TDMLd56UvSCMlfy8byIQC95Aec31yLGA Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo https://www.hsvexpo.com In this show, as you heard from the intro, I spent a little time at the Huntsville Comic & Pop Culture Expo in Huntsville, Alabama. I got to catch up with Franc and Amy Mulder as well as finally meeting one of the members of Card Squadron, David Nicely, who was on the program, waaaayyy back in episode 59. In addition to David, I talked with Jenny Riddle, a cosplayer from the Rebel Legion at Tranquilty Base in Alabama who was trooping with the 501st members of the Alabama Garrison. They had a nice display with some droids from the local Droidbuilder chapter. Kara DJ stops by for a minute on the program. The driving force behind the ‘Into a Larger World' Fanzine. Kara was on the program in episode 103. She gives a nice overview of her time in London at Celebration Europe and a little news on the next issues of the zine, due out later this year. Sam Tashima, our roving Star Wars CCG player and reporter also drops by to give us an overview of the 2023 Nationals held in Minnesota not long ago, and some dates for the upcoming tourneys for the classic Decipher card game, that is driven by the Players committee. Finally, since we are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Return of the Jedi later this month, the film was re-released back in a selection of theaters. Many of you in the community did have a chance to see it and was lucky enough to find some time myself. Romeo Ortiz, from the Vintage Star Wars club has been doing some cool video interviews for his instagram channel and while we were doing another segment, I rolled tape on our conversation of seeing the film back on the big screen.

Imagine trekking to Tatooine - visiting those same sand dunes used for Jabba's Sail Barge and Sarlacc Battle in Return Of The Jedi. Then hunkering down under the stars that evening to watch Return Of The Jedi surrounded by those same dunes. Would you say you're in Star Wars heaven? Well, we thought so!
