How have life's struggles shaped you?We all go through hardships in our personal and professional lives that inform who we are. How we react to these big moments is often put down to our resilience. But what if we looked at resilience differently? In this episode I am joined by coach and author Luis Velasquez, who discusses how to reframe your perception of resilience. He suggests that rather than being a reaction to those shock moments, resilience is something we should nurture day in day out.He talks about how we can make better choices when reacting to difficult situations. The Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run. 100 miles in a day. Where are my heart emojis? This is the super bowl of ultra running for many of us. To me, it is way bigger than the Boston Marathon. I know there are many Boston veterans that will debate that, but this is my opinion. I love the race, the venue, the people with all my heart. I cried many times just walking around and feeling the energy last year. Circumstances forced me to miss it this year, so here's my salute to the greatest weekend in Ultra Running. I hope you enjoy and it inspires a few of you to watch a little more streams and stalk IG a little harder Saturday. Below are links to some awesome videos to watch and get fired up. Finally, the Auburn Trails Alliance. First 5 California A little over two decades ago, California voters approved a proposition to benefit the state's children. In 1998, Prop 10 added a 50-cent tax to each pack of cigarettes, and that money went to the creation of a California Children and Families Commission - more commonly known as First 5 California, which helps children from the womb through age 5 - including parents and caregivers. The person leading this state commission is also charting a new path. Executive Director Jackie Thu-Huong Wong is the first woman of color to lead the commission. Jackie explains how her childhood as a refugee following the fall of Saigon shapes her work today.
