In this episode of The Wright Report, Bryan delivers fresh intelligence from the war with Iran, explaining why President Trump's naval blockade appears to be working as satellite data shows Iran's key oil export facilities sitting empty and the regime warning its own people to prepare for major economic pain. He breaks down how Iran's collapsing oil exports, skyrocketing inflation, and growing layoffs are increasing pressure on Tehran, even as the IRGC ramps up attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and China continues moving weapons to Iran through hidden routes. Bryan also highlights growing cooperation between Israel and Gulf Arab nations, including secret coordination with the UAE, while warning listeners to be cautious about leaked U.S. intelligence reports that may be shaped by Deep State politics rather than solid evidence. Plus, Bryan turns to the redistricting fight in southern states, arguing that Republicans in Mississippi, Louisiana, and South Carolina are getting weak-kneed at the worst possible moment as Democrats push radical policies on immigration, transgender procedures for children, welfare fraud, and socialist control. He closes with good medical news on the Hantavirus, falling U.S. overdose deaths, peppermint oil as a possible low-cost blood pressure aid, and a new wearable "polygraph" device that tracks whole-body stress in real time. Alabama became the latest state in that fight on Friday when Republicans approved plans for new primary elections pending a court decision on whether those newly drawn GOP House districts can be used in the November midterm elections. Chaotic scenes erupted at the Alabama Statehouse as a protester was dragged from the packed House gallery by security officers. Tensions also ran high in the Tennessee state capitol this week where protesters were removed from hearings over proposed congressional maps that overwhelmingly favored Republicans. The protests did not prevent Republican lawmakers from enacting a new map that abolishes the state's only majority-Black district. Governor Bill Lee signed the new map into law the same day. Tennessee House Representative Justin J. Pearson and Former Alabama Sen. Doug Jones join The Weekend to discuss how Republicans in their respective states are striping away Black voting power. In the second hour of The Tara Show on May 4, 2026, the segment focused on the wave of Southern states calling for special sessions to redraw congressional districts following a landmark Supreme Court ruling in Louisiana v. Callais.
May 2, 2026, 8 AM; In the name of disentangling race from voting, the Supreme Court has made it virtually impossible for Black voters to challenge gerrymandered congressional maps. For decades, Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act acted as a guardrail, preventing Southern legislatures from carving Black voters out of political power. Within hours of that ruling, states across the South began moving to redraw their maps ahead of the midterms. President and CEO of Democracy Forward Skye Perryman and Melissa Murray join The Weekend to discuss how this will affect voting and the midterms. The Watters family from Alabama are Bob and Heather (the parents), and Ana and Larkin (the future of Alabama ultras for years to come, no pressure...ha-ha). Bob has done pretty much all of the tough trail 100 milers in the southeast as well as a couple 200's, including Southern States inaugural year. Larkin just finished the SS200 this year with the help of the whole family and a few other friends. Ana is the 50k specialist of the family and pacer/PT. I had the opportunity to follow along on FB this year as Larkin faced the challenges of a multi-day race with the support of the family. I was enthralled by Heather's detailed commentary and the way the family and friends rallied to help Larkin keep moving despite about 100 miles of really painful and slow going. I hope you enjoy getting to know this awesome family.Mount to Coast | For runners who transcend distance.Squirrel's Nut Butter: Natural Anti-Chafe & Skin Restoring SalvesHome | Wandering Runner

Today, we discuss the importance of energy, what the growing demand for energy means, and how hard it can be to deliver that energy. To demonstrate that, we are using Texas as a microcosm. Texas produces the greatest amount of energy in the US. Its mix of energy spans renewables, nuclear, natural gas, coal, and yet its citizens pay some of the highest prices in the Southern States. At the same time, it's ground zero for hyper-scalers and is the epicenter of fracking yielding epochal volumes of hydrocarbon. To discuss all this and more is one of the leading lights in the Texas energy sector, Mike Howard, Founder and CEO of Howard Energy Partners, the largest privately owned mid-streamer in the US. Beyond his business ventures, Mike is a key advocate for energy's role in society and the importance of getting it right, in technology, in physics, in legislation and in investment. www.hcgroup.globalwww.hyperionsearch.com

Rising Democratic star and Mississippi state representative Justis Gibbs joins Chuck Todd to challenge the conventional wisdom that Mississippi is irreversibly red, arguing that the state is slowly trending purple and could be politically transformed with proper Democratic investment and a willingness to break free from an entitled older generation of politicians who've written off entire regions. Gibbs, representing the younger generation jumping into Democratic politics, explains how Mississippi's deep-red reputation masks a more complex electoral reality where disengaged Black voters and moderate white Republicans could be mobilized if Democrats brought "visual change" and stopped underinvesting in states they've prematurely conceded. The conversation explores the ongoing Jackson water crisis as a symptom of broader political dysfunction, where Republican officials refuse to work with Democratic leaders even on basic infrastructure, while Gibbs argues that Democrats' reluctance to disagree with their own coalition and their toxic brand perception prevent them from competing in culturally conservative areas where they could actually win.Gibbs makes the provocative case that Mississippi Democrats need to embrace ideological flexibility and invest in long-term organizing rather than assuming demographic destiny will deliver victories, pointing to the benefits swing states enjoy from competitive politics and arguing that proper investment could make Mississippi politically relevant again. He addresses the challenge of overcoming voter perceptions that youth equals inexperience while navigating a political landscape where established politicians feel entitled to office regardless of results, particularly in addressing crises like Jackson's water emergency that expose the consequences of partisan gridlock. The discussion reveals how national Democratic strategy has abandoned entire regions, missing opportunities to build sustainable majorities in states where cultural conservatism doesn't necessarily translate to permanent Republican dominance, offering a roadmap for how younger politicians can challenge both entrenched incumbents and defeatist party orthodoxy to expand the electoral map in unexpected places.Timeline:(Timestamps may vary based on advertisements)00:00 Justis Gibbs joins the Chuck ToddCast!01:00 How Justis got into politics/origin story02:45 The younger generation is jumping into Democratic politics04:00 Older generation of politicians feel entitled to their office05:15 Voters don't perceive youth as qualified for office06:30 Mississippi shouldn't be deep red, how can Democrats change that?08:15 Mississippi is slowly trending more purple/blue09:15 The Democratic party has underinvested in Mississippi10:45 Lack of engagement from black voters and moderate white voters12:45 The importance of bringing “visual change”14:45 Status of the underreported Jackson water crisis 17:45 Is the water crisis a symptom of longstanding political dysfunction?19:00 Lack of bipartisan cooperation in Mississippi20:00 Republicans refuse to work with Democratic leaders in Jackson22:00 Are Mississippi Democrats culturally conservative across the board?23:45 Democrats need to be willing to disagree with their coalition25:30 What's wrong with the Democratic brand, and how do you fix it?27:45 Democrats could win Mississippi if they put in the work30:00 The benefits of being a swing state33:00 Mississippi could be transformed politically with proper investment34:30 Ole Miss or Mississippi State?
In this episode of Run the Riot, we catch up with ultrarunner Suzan Brydon, who's currently 19 days into a massive and meaningful mission—running over 1,920 miles across the American Discovery Trail as part of a community health initiative supported by her employer, The Cigna Group. This isn't just a solo adventure—Suzan's run is empowering young girls through Girls on the Run, raising awareness about rural health gaps, and bringing visibility to women ultrarunners tackling big goals. Suzan shares how she trained by completing the Southern States 200, and how she prepared her body and mind for this endurance feat by leaning into the “mind over matter” philosophy. From mud-filled horse trails lovingly known as the "poop porridge" to peaceful Midwest farmland and iced lattes in small-town cafes, Suzan gives us a glimpse into her daily grind and what it takes to average 23 miles per day. She also talks about the mental and physical shifts that come with multi-week endurance, how she's fueling with real food (including entire pizzas!), and how the support of her husband/crew is keeping the journey rolling. Whether you're an experienced ultrarunner or someone chasing your first big goal, Suzan's story is a powerful reminder that limitless potential often starts with one brave step. In this episode you'll hear my conversation with Sarah as we rehash everything from start to finish (literally!) I even convinced them to do some *voice memos* to help document the process. And, if you'd like the full experience, head over to my profile page on Instagram (@sherunsultras) and click the very first story highlight (titled: SS200) and you can watch the race from my perspective (in real time). I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I do! ⭐️ GET THE ULTIMATE 50K TRAINING TOOLKIT ➡️ CLICK HERE TO JOIN MY PRIVATE FACEBOOK GROUP

James Ebert is a friend that I found in my preparation for Southern States 200. He won the inaugural event in just over 48 hours, and I was hoping to get some tips from him to help me (a much slower guy) be able to complete the race. It ended up not happening for me because of injury, but I've been able to chat with him a few times now. James is no stranger to Florida races either, having done Death at Dupuis twice, Across Florida 200, and taking 2nd place overall this year at Long Haul 100. He also went back to defend his title at Southern States. You'll have to listen to see how that worked out. This week on the HappyCast, we talk all things hockey with our favorite runner from up north, Trevor Meding! Not really, though. As cool as that would be, we decide to discuss the latest edition of Southern States 200 with Trevor, who just ran the race and is slowly recovering from his epic trek from Georgia to Alabama. The Southern States 200 is the only point-to-point mountain race east of the Rockies. With 85% of the race taking place on the Pinhoti trail, and a shade under 28,000ft of climbing, this is an epic, scenic and “runnable” 200 miler. We talk to Trevor about his experience on the course, his strategies, and shockingly, how it was to run the ENTIRE race with no crew OR drop bags. Yes, he carried EVERYTHING he had on his back, which apparently was only “7-8lbs”.As someone who enjoys running alone, we also hear about Trevor's experience running with three other men who eventually were dubbed “the four amigos”. We also dive deep into his epic sprint at the end to finish sub-72 hours. We discuss all of this and more, on another epic edition of the HappyCast! Don't forget to check out Trevor's blog that goes over his races:#ultrarunningdadBe sure to subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen, and we always appreciate you leaving a good rate and review. Send us a textIn this episode I'm chatting with my client (and friend of the podcast) Sarah Brandt about her upcoming adventure at the Southern States 200. If you're listening in real time (Friday March 21st) Sarah will be 3 days into this race, so what you're hearing is a conversation that we had 3 weeks prior. If you'd like to see what it's like to run a 200 mile race, make sure you're following me over on Instagram (@sherunsultras) where I'm documenting everything as it happens in my stories. You can also watch my story highlights (marked SS200) from the very beginning. Enjoy!
Send us a textThis week, I'm diving into TWO big topics: my upcoming adventure at the Southern States 200 and my experience with weighted vest training. Let's go!Southern States 200 I'm heading out Monday to help my athletes get prepped, dial in aid stations, and strategize for the race. I'll be pacing, crewing, and soaking up all the race vibes! Want behind-the-scenes action? Follow my IG/FB stories! Weighted Vest Training Why am I doing this? Because I love a challenge (and I have some climbing goals). I'll break down my experience so far—what vest I got, what I love (and don't love), and why it's NOT a substitute for real strength training. Yes, it boosts cardio, helps with climbing, and strengthens your legs for descents, but there are some key things to consider before jumping in.Moab Training Update Slow and steady! I'm playing the long game—balancing mileage, strength work, and self-assessment to make sure I don't burn out before Moab. Training Peaks is my secret weapon!Hit play, and let's get into it!

After a freezing winter storm shut schools, cut power and cancelled or delayed flights, Texas and other Deep South states were slowly thawing as weather warmed. Conditions in North Texas were returning to normal after a winter weather blast packing snow, ice and wintry mix disrupted the region Thursday into Friday; In other news, firefighters scrambled Sunday to make further progress against wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed 24 people in the Los Angeles area as forecasters again warned of dangerous weather with the return of strong winds this week. At least 16 people were missing, and authorities said that number was expected to rise; work on $370 million high-rises planned in Uptown Dallas is scheduled to begin later this year. Chalk Hill Towers is a mixed-use development set between North Harwood Street and Harry Hines Boulevard; And Klay Thompson added another milestone to his long list of accomplishments in the NBA. The Mavs sharpshooter reached the 16,000-point mark in Sunday's game against the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center. Thompson was key to a hot start for the Mavericks, going 5-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range as Dallas raced out to a comfortable first-half lead. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to secure the win. The Mavs led by as many as 19 in the third quarter but Denver rallied in the fourth to beat Dallas 112-101. The teams will meet again on Tuesday.
