Successfully designing his child's life backward, he discovered that the process now known as 'The Life Template,' which includes a suite of academic and social tools, techniques, and strategies, might be helpful for others. It's worth noting that Turner's son not only met Harvard's admission benchmarks (i.e., test scores in the top 1%, 33 college credits by his junior year, proficiency in four languages, left home after his junior year to play soccer in Brazil, and started a foundation to address teen homelessness); he eviscerated the profiled criterion by his sixteenth birthday. Nate's son met the rigorous educational requirements of the top colleges and universities without means of wealth, privilege, legacy status, fraud, bribery, cheating, Affirmative Action, or Adobe Photoshop. His son earned acceptance to twenty-seven of America's best undergraduate colleges and universities, Ph.D. fellowships to seven of America's best engineering graduate schools, and MBA offers from four of America's top business schools. Today, Turner's son holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Furthermore, Turner's son is a first-year MBA student at NYU's Stern School of Business. Nate's life mission is simple. First, he wants us to consider who we are and whether we are now who we want to be when we are no more. You Shall Be Known By The Fruit You BearI'm sure you've heard the phrase, in some fashion or another, that is derived from Matthew 7: 15-20. It's not an exact quote, but the meaning is so very true. What is more important that we can do in this world than to leave good humans to follow up where we left off? We as individuals have a responsibility to be good people. If we choose to have children, it is then our responsibility to make them good humans too. Human nature is not "inherently good", so it is our responsibility to guide our children in the ways of goodness. Are you good? What would your children say? You shall be known by the fruit you bear.Who is Nathaniel A. Turner?Nathaniel A Turner is the author of multiple books, including the history-making Raising Supaman. Turner's books, videos, speeches, and training programs have empowered countless numbers of people and organizations. So that his child might be intellectually astute, globally competent, and socially conscious, Nate intentionally backward designed his son's life. Today, those tools, techniques, and strategies which were initially created explicitly for his son are educational and life development staples for people all over the country. To learn more about Nate Turner, check out the full notes for this episode at DerateTheHate.com...What have you done today to make your life a better life? We sit down with Author, Ted Speaker, and self-described "Humanity Propulsion Engineer", Nathaniel A. Turner, to discuss how parents can create a life template that can give every child a real chance to succeed. In this interview, Nate discusses the following:Why understanding how to change our future by changing how we think in the present is critical for anyone who wants to be a better version of themselves today. The value of knowing why we must carefully guard whom we allow in our inner circle because birds of a feather do indeed flock together.Things men should do the moment they discover they are going to be fathers. Why envisioning and journaling our best life is an essential part of planning for children.Practical steps parents can start taking at any point in their parenting journey to create a path toward success, from the moment of conception to the day of graduation....and much more!If you would like to speak with one of our family law attorneys, please call our office at (503) 227-0200, or visit our website at https://www.pacificcascadelegal.com.If you're interested in getting in touch with Nathaniel, you can do so by visiting his website: https://www.nathanielaturner.com/Disclaimer: Nothing in this communication is intended to provide legal advice nor does it constitute a client-attorney relationship, therefore you should not interpret the contents as such.

DON'T LET YOUR PAST STEAL YOUR FUTURE! TODAY I have Nathaniel A. Turner talking with me about how what happens in your childhood can set you up for success or failure. In Nathaniel's case it was failure. The prevalence of ACE's* in his childhood, the pigeonholing that happened to him in school, and the inability of his parents to empower him sought to make him a victim. BUT Nathaniel decided that would not be the case. He sought to be a victor and designed a new future not only for himself, but also for his son. Now he is a thought leader, renowned speaker, humanitarian, leading parental empowerment activist, and author of multiple books. Bio: Nathaniel A. Effect on Emotions The first thing I do every morning is writing (journaling) about my life for the first 14 to 20 minutes. The way I would like it to be as opposed to how it actually is. It helps me to be mindful emotionally, physically, and spiritually, about where I want to be at any point in time in my life. So that is a thing that I do. I learned that from a child, Thoughts on Breathing So I started practicing learning journaling and meditation some few years ago, taking time to actually hear my breath. My son has had situations where he felt bullied by either the professor or bullied by a teammate. Certainly, one of the things we do is just recognize that whatever that is, it's temporary. Oftentimes, what people are saying about you is not so much about you, but it's a reflection of how they feel about themselves. Above all, the most important thing to remember is what it is that you think and feel about yourself. Moreover, I'd say the other thing, is to not give so much time and attention and weight to the negative, unless you're equally willing to give the same amount of time, attention, and weight to the positive. So if you say someone bullies you and you're focusing on the bullying part, what do we do with the people who praise us? However, when people praise us or say really positive things about us, we don't give that the same time and attention as we do to the things that are negative. It's fascinating how a conversation around books can blossom. This might be our longest interview yet.Nate shares how one animated movie changed the course of his life. "Up until I saw The Lion King, I did not want to be a parent." He struggled, "My grandmother would say,  "The tree shall be known by the fruit that it bares."", "How do I become something other than the thing from which I grew from?""I'm concerned that if we wait much longer to outline a process to help our future citizens, we won't be able to repair or recondition the fabric of our nation." Find out why he believes a book made a huge impact in his sons life and who wrote it.Nate said, "I didn't think about it that way until just now with you"What had Nate not thought, until our conversation in this episode? I said “Wow.
