Welcome back to a special joint episode of The Evolved Caveman andLove Isn't Enough podcasts, where your favorite therapist power couple,Dr. John and Joree, lovingly drag your toxic relationship habits into thedaylight. This week? We're tackling the last two horsemen of your relationalapocalypse: Contempt and Stonewalling. (Because your love life wasn'talready teetering on the edge after Criticism and Defensiveness lastweek.)First up: Contempt — the "I'm better than you" flavor of loathing that turnsevery dishwasher squabble into a power play. It's got everything: eye-rolls,sneers, and the emotional subtlety of a flamethrower. According to theGottmans, contempt is basically the kiss of death. Spot it in the first 5minutes of a fight? That relationship's got the lifespan of a mayfly (that is,breakup is around the corner!).Then there's Stonewalling, the cold shoulder's evil twin. It's when onepartner shuts down, checks out, and basically becomes a decorative plantduring conflict. Spoiler: that's not sexy. Or helpful. Or sustainable. It's also aharbinger of breakup.John and Joree keep it real by admitting they used to suck at this stuff too.But they've done the work — and now they're here to help you recognizethese behaviors before your relationship flatlines. So if you're tired of feeling unheard, judged, or like you're arguing with abrick wall (or *being* one), tune in. You might cringe a little, but hey —growth isn't supposed to be comfy.Wanna Climb Higher Up The Happiness Hill ? Successfully designing his child's life backward, he discovered that the process now known as 'The Life Template,' which includes a suite of academic and social tools, techniques, and strategies, might be helpful for others. It's worth noting that Turner's son not only met Harvard's admission benchmarks (i.e., test scores in the top 1%, 33 college credits by his junior year, proficiency in four languages, left home after his junior year to play soccer in Brazil, and started a foundation to address teen homelessness); he eviscerated the profiled criterion by his sixteenth birthday. Nate's son met the rigorous educational requirements of the top colleges and universities without means of wealth, privilege, legacy status, fraud, bribery, cheating, Affirmative Action, or Adobe Photoshop. His son earned acceptance to twenty-seven of America's best undergraduate colleges and universities, Ph.D. fellowships to seven of America's best engineering graduate schools, and MBA offers from four of America's top business schools. Today, Turner's son holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. Furthermore, Turner's son is a first-year MBA student at NYU's Stern School of Business. Turner's 'Life Template' helped his son receive more than a million dollars in free education. Today, Nate teaches businesses, schools, not-for-profits, and families how to achieve any goal or objective, like being college and career ready through backward design. Nate's life mission is simple. First, he wants us to consider who we are and whether we are now who we want to be when we are no more. Second, he wants us all to embrace our responsibility to leave the planet better than it was when we arrived by helping, serving, and making sure all who encounter us know their lives matter. Phantom Electric Ghost Interviews Nathaniel Turner: Life by Backward Design  Biography Nathaniel A. Turner is a breath of fresh air. As one of the most entertaining and captivating Renaissance people of our day, he's sought after by organizations and individuals worldwide to share the tools, techniques, and strategies to live life in the present with joy on purpose. The Humanitarian Propulsion Engineer, Public Intellectual, TED Speaker, and author's work includes the books: Raising Supaman, Stop the Bus, It's A Jungle Out There, Journey Forward, and The Amazing World of STEM. Nate shares an audio version of his unique style of envisioning and manifesting the best version of himself across numerous social media platforms. Everything Nate shares today was discovered and tested for nearly thirty years, beginning with endeavoring to give an unborn child a life better than he had. Successfully designing his child's life backward, he discovered that the process now known as 'The Life Template' might be helpful for others. Today, he teaches businesses, schools, not-for-profits, and families how to achieve any goal or objective through backward design. Nate's life mission is simple. First, he wants us to consider who we are and whether we are now who we want to be when we are no more. Second, he wants us all to embrace our responsibility to leave the planet better than it was when we arrived by helping, serving, and making sure all who encounter us know their lives matter. Invite Nate for a conversation. You will enjoy traveling with him on a stretch of the remarkable journey called life. Together you will laugh out loud, be provoked to think outside the box, and strategize ways to serve something greater than yourself.   Link: https://www.nathanielaturner.com/ Support PEG by checking out our Sponsors: Download and use Newsly for free now from www.newsly. or from the link in the description, and use promo code GH0ST and receive a 1-month free premium subscription. Episode 152: Irritability In Men And How It Screws Up Romantic Relationships

Boys learn a certain set of rules in terms of what it means to be a man from friends, peers, coaches, movies, music and social media. These rules include ideas such as be stoic, be tough, be self-reliant, don't act gay and don't act feminine. This process starts in kindergarten and continues beyond high school. These rules make up the Man Box. These rules are so deeply engrained in us, it is hard to even recognize the profound impact they have on our daily living. One such impact is in our romantic relationships. As men may only demonstrate anger, stress or lust publicly (without fear of being mocked), even male depression comes out differently than female depression. Male depression largely comes out as irritability, impatience, and blaming others for problems. Join Dr. John and Joree Rose, LMFT for an enlightening conversation around how these things impact romantic relationships and what you can do about it. Some of the areas covered…02:13 - Everyone needs reassurance and validation in relationships. But how can you get it?14:35 – The surprising reversal of gender stereotypes in some romantic relationships13:27 - Comparing depression symptoms in males vs. females18:42 – Anyone who says “I'm not emotional” is absolutely emotional.21:37 - The impact of childhood trauma on your present-day relationship23:35 - Ways to increase your emotional awareness32:22 – Better ways to communicate when you, or your partner, need some extra support or reassurance40:02 - Tools and support for possible depressionJoree is a marriage and family therapist, host of the Journey Forward podcast, author, entrepreneur and the loving and loved fiancée of Dr. John. Please rate, review and share the podcast! Forward motion in life is important, however, with loss comes the overwhelming sense of moving forward an impossibility. As with any challenge in life, taking one step at a time is the best way to gain enough momentum to move forward, no matter the pace. So the question remains, how does one take those steps forward? Although the answer is not an easy, one-size-fits-all solution, it does require the same basic foundation no matter what your loss; support, inspiration, and determination.
