The Knicks have done an excellent job bouncing back from adversity this season. They did just that on their three-game homestand. Following the exciting victory against Memphis, the 'Bockers got revenge on the Raptors on Sunday and handled a banged up Lakers team on Monday. RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and even Elfrid Payton have played sharp offensively of late, but the team defense -- lead by Nerlens & Taj -- has been absolutely incredible. February 15, 2015 - This episode has come to be known as the "Paul Millsap Story" episode. The original description was as follows: Spike did go to All-Star practice (thanks to his lovely wife), so we talk about that, the Sprite Slam Dunk, the Hawks All-Star failures, Patrick Beverly, Kenny Smith, Zach LaVine vs. Dario, Bob and Nerlens in the Rising Stars game, the failed NBA After-Dark takeover, Evan Turner's game winner, make fun of Charles Barkley, and much, much more! The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is currently on a two week vacation, so we're posting classic episodes.
June 29, 2013 - This is a rebroadcast of the very first podcast Spike and Mike ever did together. It was recorded just after Sam Hinkie's first draft as Sixers GM, when he traded Jrue Holiday for Nerlens Noel and a second first round pick. Two weeks later, Spike and Mike would record the first ever "Rights To Ricky Sanchez." The podcast is on a two-week vacation. We'll be back stronger than ever?
Markelle Fultz is BACK! Terry Rozier is the best player in the world! Malik Newman has risen from the ashes and has regained relevance in the NBA Draft! I think we only talked about basketball today? Is that possible? I know we talked about the NFL Draft for a minute, and Tyler reminisces about Drew Stubbs for reasons I can't remember, but yeah. Lotta basketball talk. Nerlens gets his name thrown around for a bit. Boogie gets talked about for a hot second. Tyler throws around some names for coach of the year while Coley becomes increasingly angrier. And, oh yeah, we talk about The Ringer, whom we know are listening to this right now. Sup Bill.
LeBron James has long been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, but the latest rumor has him bringing big man Nerlens Noel to L.A. as well. Trevor Lane and Harrison Faigen make sense of it.
Big Baby Halkias and Buggy Cousins are back together in NYC and the stats and analytics are really flying in this one. Nerlens Noel (a player in the National Basketball association)ate a hot dog. Donovan Mitchell showed his hot dog. Marc Gasol it's quiet for you. Finally, an apology: we mentioned the Pistons and didn't once comment on Stan Van laying pipe. We'll correct that next episode. We're learning and growing every day and trying to be better for you. xoxo
Everyone is in a better mood, but our squads are still brutal... 09:25 - Feeling Jazz-y 20:37 - East no longer least? 27:35 - Nerlens still hungry... 42:07 - Kyrie is NOT the DPOY 49:29 - Cheeky Nuggets
NBA Hall of Famer and future Poet Laureate Bernard King joins the show (01:11:39) to talk about his new book and tell tales about his days growing up in Brooklyn, playing at Tennessee, all the way through his prolific bucket-getting career in the NBA. But before that: the Cavs continue to stink out loud, is Nerlens broken?, Chris Paul will ruin the Rockets when he returns from injury, Apu is problematic, and KFC stops in to discuss whether Eminem's new single is flaming garbage or just regular old dumpster juice. We were riding high on Purdue basketball and after an ugly win at Penn State and loss at Michigan, have they peaked? Wisconsin and Maryland have really started to lose so how does a down Big Ten conference alter Purdue's March seeding? Gonzaga got upset and people are talking about them not getting a 1 seed anymore, crazy? Who are some of our favorites to win the whole tournament at this point. We talk the NBA trade deadline with the Bulls shipping out Dougie Buckets and Taj Gibson. Are they selling or just shuffling chairs on the Titanic? What does this mean for the future of the team? Will Gar Formann and John Paxson trade Jimmy Butler? What the heck are the Kings doing with the Cousins trade? Will DeMarcus do anything to improve the Pelicans? How is it that the Boston Celtics couldn't improve on the trade Sacramento got? The Dallas Mavericks got Nerlens Noel for pretty much nothing, a big surprise. Philadelphia wanted to move him, but that's the best they could get? What do we make of Paul George seeming like a done deal to head to the Lakers? The Lakers shook things up with Magic Johnson taking over in LA, does he make them more relevant? Power agent Palinka becomes the GM, will he be able to spot talent? The Lakers management looks legitimate, Luke Walton is a good coach and they have some good young kids. Can they build back to the top of the draft? Staying in LA, the Kings added Ben Bishop at goalie just as Johnathon Quick comes back from injury. It's rather curious. The Blackhawks made a small move on a player given up on, will it be anything? Chicago has caught fire, can they get the 1 seed in the West? We talk some Cubs with the roster moves seemingly set, and one of the big topics will be the fifth spot in the rotation. Who gets it? Pedro Strop got an extension, anything to make of it? Ian Happ continues to rake, will we see him in Chicago this season? How will Joe Maddon handle all the bats he has? Are one of the kids young bats off limits for a trade? What do we think the final bench and bullpen will look like? We Got Beef and Pops takes on Shaq with his dumb beef with Javale McGee. Blair's Beef is with the Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey who said 'She's tired of hearing about the Baylor scandals and if anyone says they won't send your kids hear punch them in the face.' These comments are so tone deaf for a women who coaches young women on a campus that is completely unsafe to women. These are some of the most egregious comments made on this issue.
We talk about the brand new Lottery Party t-shirts, Sam Hinkie's coded order for us to wear all black at the party, and Nerlens' return with the big win over the Mavericks We discuss Joel Embiid's recent doctor visits, as well as a steaming hot take from Spike about something. Finally, we produced a bracket of 64 most-process Sixers, and Mike goes through and determines the winner. The bracket is available on rightstorickysanchez.com.
Mike said that he has a rant about the Rookie of The Year all loaded up. We see how that goes. We also get the scoop on Mike's new TV Show Trial and Error, discuss if you'd rather pay Covington or Noel, discuss a new article about Robert Covington. Nerlens in Dallas, what the hell is The Process and some questions from Twitter. The Lottery Party tickets are nearly gone, if you can believe that. The Process Is Dead! Long Live The Process! Get your Lottery Party tickets at rightstorickysanchez.com On January 20th, Joel Embiid landed funny on his knee in a win over the Portland Trailblazers. At the time, Embiid was making a case for an All-Star berth, and the Sixers finished the month 10-5. Just six weeks later, Simmons is out for the season, Embiid is out for the season, Nerlens Noel got traded for a fake draft pick and everyone is mad at the Sixers front office. How did we get here? We also discuss the win over the Knicks and whether Justin Anderson is good or not.

They traded Nerlens. At least they got rid of Ilyasova.
The Celtics and Pacers are discussing Paul George and Danny Ainge has finally introduced the Brooklyn Nets pick into the conversation. The Wizards picked up Bogdanovic from Brooklyn, while the Hawks grabbed Ilyasova from Philadelphia to help their run at Boston's 2-seed. The 76ers moved Nerlens Noel out of Conference to Dallas and received Andrew Bogut in a package.
Matt and Jon Ignal along with Eddie Santiago discuss the Bosnian Bear and other bigs and swings on the trade market. Can these guys help the Celtics now, or are they building blocks for the future?
The Boston Celtics outscored the Philadelphia 76ers by 15 points in the second half, which included a go-ahead three-pointer from Al Horford with 17 seconds remaining, as the Celtics survived the 76ers, 110-106. Horford scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half, as the Celtics withstood Joel Embiid - the early favorite for rookie of the year - and his 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks. Avery Bradley led the Celtics (22-14) with 26 points, including 6-11 from three-point.
Since our last podcast, nothing changed with the Nerlens Noel situation and the Sixers, and everything changed. Bryan Colangelo spoke, and Joel Embiid spoke *out*, saying that he'd like to give the Twin Towers experience a try with Noel instead of Okafor. We also discuss Alt-Process leader Ben Detrick's piece on The Ringer suggesting possible trades for each. Finally, we took some questions from our friends at r/Sixers, for the first ever Ricky AMA. We also play the brand new song from Process Truster and actual musician, John Vincent, called "Chu Chu The F**kin' Legend."
Basketball Insiders publisher Steve Kyler and Fox Sports’ Brett Pollakoff talks about the situation in Philadelphia with Nerlens Noel, the injuries to Blake Griffin, Clint Cappella and Victor Oladipo. What the Kings have to do with DeMarcus Cousins and how the next Collective Bargaining Agreement could impact the futures of Steph Curry, Chris Paul and Paul George.
With his return to the floor, Isaiah Thomas helped the Boston Celtics put on a show for their Shamrock Foundation Night in a win over the Charlotte Hornets. Demetrius Jackson will give the Maine Red Claws a boost, along with the return of previously-injured Abdel Nader. The Celtics could in involved in upcoming Nerlens Noel trade rumors.
They said it would never happen! Well, Spike said it would never happen. It looks like Nerlens Noel is going to return to play for the Sixers. We'll discuss how he'll fit. We also recap the week in Sixers, give out some quarter-season grades, talk about Bus The Process II (F*ck Andrew Sharp), the Retweet Armageddon Congress, and the new Ricky theme song by Amos Lee and Jaron Olevsky. You heard us right! There is a Bus The Process II, on January 14th, to Washington D.C. to see Sixers vs. Wizards. For just $85, you'll get the bus down to D.C. (yes there is an option for those who live there and don't need the bus), a ticket to the game, snacks on the bus, a commemorative t-shirt from Cheesesteaktees, your picture on center court, and you'll shoot a free throw on the court after the game. Go to THIS LOCATION for all the details and purchase tickets from Phans Of Philly. It's going to be a lot of fun. A huge, unreal thanks to Chef Olev And Sammos Hinklie, also known to the world as Amos Lee and his keyboardist/musical director Jaron Olevsky for the new Ricky theme song "Stay A Believer (Trust The Process)," a song written and recorded for Process Trusters everywhere (also I just named the song). Amos, in case you haven't heard, is from Philadelphia and a huge Truster Of The Process (read this great profile on Amos and the Sixers by Jason Lipshutz at Billboard). You can buy Amos' new album 'Spirit,' which is great. His entire library is great. Thanks Amos and Jaron!
In Episode 20, Sean Woodley takes listener questions of DeMar DeRozan's place in Raptors history, Nerlens Noel trade rumours, which Raptors would fill Masai Ujiri's presidential cabinet & more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Joel Embiid really played a game! Then he played another one! And he looked good! We discuss Embiid's debut, his embracing of his new nickname, and how everyone else on the team looked in the first two games. Then, we're treated to a game of TEST THE PROCESS! Boy, this will be embarrassing. Spike and Mike compete against each other in a round of trivia hosted by none other than Andrew 'Invented Sauce Castillo, The Nickname Not The Guy,' Unterberger. You can follow the great Andrew Unterberger on Twitter @AUGetOffMyGold. You can read his work and his questionable opinions about music at Billboard.
Today we review what did *(and didn't) happen during the draft. Steve joins in to discuss potential options in Free Agency at PG, teams that could still be in the market for Jah or Nerlens, and our Best/Worst moments of the draft.
Thank you rumor mill! If there's anything that screams "Sam Hinkie is gone," loud and from the rooftops, it's a rumor that the Sixers are considering trading Nerlens Noel for a year of Jeff Teague. We break down the trade rumors, speak with SB Nation's Ricky O'Donnell about his thoughts on the draft and what the Sixers should do, celebrate the YouTube Big Board's influence on the draft (hi Marquese Chriss!) and talk about a process moment with a big-time musician.
A pretty big week for The Process, I think we'd all agree. We talk about the #BusTheProcess trip and reaction, the Ricky basketball game at the Center, Max Rappaport's deep dive on the Trusters in Complex Mag, Kevin Durant's inevitable signing with the Sixers, Brett Brown on the Zach Lowe podcast, Mike's big board, Joel Embiid back in Qatar, TJ vs. Ish, and if the Sixers will win again this season. The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is always brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
The Sixers won a game! Unfortunately it may have come at a high cost, as we give an update on Robert Covington's injury. We discuss the big win, the loss of Jahlil Okafor for the rest of the season, the very Process article from Tom Haberstroh, and tie up some odds and ends! The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is always brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
Deadspin said we have Stockholm Syndrome, Max Rappaport got like a thousand retweets, we confused other fans and most of the beat writers, and a bunch of Process Trusters refused to chant "Let's Go Sixers" on the big screen, to the confusion of one Christian Crosby. It was a successful RTRS Night at The Center. We wrap up the evening's highlights, talk about the (probably fake) Dennis Schroeder trade, and try to figure out why the Sixers stink so bad again.
It's been a couple of weeks. We're sorry! We're back! This episode features a quick wrap-up in the week(s) in Sixers, mid-season awards, and a celebration and discussion of Mr. Joel Embiid. The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is always brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
Remember last year right around this time? We do! Boy, this feels familiar. We talk about when the Sixers might win, and how much it matters that they haven't, the discussion of vets vs. Christian Woods, Okafor's struggles, some amazing listener emails, some love letters to Nerlens, Stauskas' three-point shot, and Rodney Carney on the Sevens. The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
Three losses, but three good losses! This is "The Process." We talk about the growth of Nerlens, the TJ McConnell revelation, whether or not Hollis Thompson is good, some normal Okafor talk, and would we trade for Derrick Rose. The RTRS Podcast is presented by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
Oooooooweee this season is under way, city called Nerlens. Audio is weird because of art, but let's have a good time. Grizzlies, Heat, Sixers: all went down in a cloud of Delly oops.
Hey, Jahlil Okafor looked great! But they can't score any points! But Nerlens looks like he's on another level! But can Brett Brown coach offense?! But Sauce Castillo hit a three and the crowd went nuts! There were some mixed results in the first week of the 2015-16 Sixers, and we break it all down as we saw it. The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is proudly brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers.
We saw our first glances of the 2015-16 Sixers this week, and the results were... mixed. We talk about our first thoughts on the Okafor/Noel frontcourt, the Canaan/anyone backcourt, and just what Furkan Aldemir might be good at, and announce our big interview and bus trip details. The Rights To Ricky Sanchez is brought to you by LL Pavorsky Jewelers in Philadelphia!
The podcast is back. We thank the natives for being restless and impatient. We'll be back on schedule now. The Sixers signed a point guard! By signing Kendall Marshall and trading for the contract of Gerald Wallace, the team has now acquired everyone they were supposed to during this era of Sixers basketball. We talk about Marshall, and catch up on everything we missed, including Embiid's surgery, Hinkie's telephone conference about it, Nerlens Noel's rank by Sports Illustrated, the legacy of Daryl Dawkins and Lil B's signing with the 87ers.
Who'd have guessed, two years ago when we started The Rights To Ricky Sanchez podcast would be doing a live version, that barely anyone could hear, in a packed Buffalo Wild Wings, in front of hundreds... (deep breath through nose) AND HUNDREDS of the pod's supporters? No one would have guessed that. You'd be a moron to have guessed that. But it happened, and it sounds, well, it sounds like it sounds. It's a funny listen. You hear people boo Doug Collins and Howard Eskin. You hear people chant "asshole" at Andrew Sharp. And you hear Mike and I sort of try to do a show, and then eventually give up.
Finally, a talk about the draft on the Ricky that involves two people! Spike has finally watched a bunch of YouTube, and has some barely informed opinions. We go over who the Sixers may pick in the draft, take some fantastic Twitter questions, talk about the current NBA Playoffs, Bill Simmons' exit from ESPN, a jigsaw and more!
Another season in the books, and it was one of the best in the last decade, perhaps the best. The fact that we're saying that about a team that won 18 games says a lot about a lot of things. We'll let you decide what those are. We give out year end awards, including Team MVP, The Ricky Sanchez Award, Lickface Of The Year, and much more (including a rap song by Hollis Thompson).
The Nerlens Noel Rookie Of The Year push is in full force. WHY NOT US?! WHY NOT NERLENS?! An update on the Lottery Party T-Shirts, how Ish Smith has made the Sixers better, an update on MCW, a hot take about Brett Brown, the Clippers are annoying, Sixers Nerd Armageddon, Twitter questions, a draft update, an AMAZING Tony Wroten story, and a Wrestlemania Preview with Ange Goldstein.
What a week it's been for Ish Smith! Spike and Mike tackle Ish's revival, his stats vs. Michael Carter-Williams, some Twitter questions, Nerlens Rookie Of The Year momentum, wins over the Kings and Hawks, Mike's big board, Glenn Robinson III, some quick lottery party updates, and perhaps the most awful Jigsaw of all time.
Only 20 games left in what is widely considered the best Sixers season in over a decade. They only have to go 12-8 to match Mike's prediction of 25 wins. This episode includes T-Rob's per minute explosion, Nerlens Rookie Of The Year hopes, a little Ish and Isaiah talk, and Embiid's now internet famous between the legs dunk. Also perhaps a little Andrew Sharp ether and some lottery party details.
Spike went to the All-Star game! Not really. Spike did go to All-Star practice (thanks to his lovely wife), so we talk about that, the Sprite Slam Dunk, the Hawks All-Star failures, Patrick Beverly, Kenny Smith, Zach LaVine vs. Dario, Bob and Nerlens in the Rising Stars game, the failed NBA After-Dark takeover, Evan Turner's game winner, make fun of Charles Barkley, and much, much more!
Find out why this season is the Year Of The Ricky! We talk Wroten, Davies (!), KJ, Nerlens, MCW, LRMAM and Chris Johnson. We talk a little bit about the Cavs struggles, and get to a Jigsaw.
The Sixers are RUNNING the Orlando Summer League. Who needs Lebron? We discuss Nerlens, Casper, and the the rest of the roster, preview the Las Vegas roster, and weigh in on THE DECISION II.
Spike and Mike cover a bunch of topics in Sixers-land. Included: potential trades, the losses to the Pistons and Knicks, a Nerlens Noel update, the injury to Jrue Holiday, the upside of MCW, Elliot Williams and Lorenzo Brown, potential lottery picks, and a brand new JIGSAW.
In the last Rights To Ricky before Sixers training camp begins, Spike and Mike take some listener questions about what we can expect from MCW and Nerlens, who else to keep an eye on, break some Sixers news and give relationship advice.
Bobby and Adam discuss the most important injuries in the Eastern Conference. In addition, they debate how to deal with the future of the NBA Draft as well as the possibility of the Celtics trading Rajon Rondo.
