¡Ponedle play! Jk_eye, Travol y RodoR
Editor-in-Chief Elliot Williams is joined this week by newly minted Development Editor (and definitely not brother) Al Williams to bring you the weekly highlights from our little corner of the Internet. Between the rapidly approaching deadline for the Low-Power Challenge to Samsung creating a fake Moon with artificial intelligence, there's plenty in the news to get this episode started. From there, the Williams plural discuss using a webcam for cheap virtual reality thrills, an impressive expansion for the Flipper Zero, and whether or not finding a bug in the Nintendo DSi browser counts as retrocomputing. Stick around to hear about the fascinating work Joshua Vasquez has been doing with DIY light guide plates, and Arya Voronova's deep-dive into PCI-Express. You want links? You got links in the show notes!

This episode is for entertainment purposes only. This episode I discuss what is better the PlayStation 5 or the Nintendo DSi. Is the the latest item really better or is an older cheaper system with inferior graphics and sound more fun???
In the latest episode, the guys catch up for a chat and discuss what everyone has been up to recently. Den takes us through where he is at with the 4 different projects he has in the works and a small repair on a Grail PCB pickup for Neil. Mike discusses his earphones still working by a single strand of wire (haha), the games he's been playing lately, failed PS2 Memory cards, Tetris, Command and Conquer : Red Alert and takes us through the upcoming events in the Brisbane Arcade Scene! Neil discusses his recent headway in one of the Toughest and well-known games in the world (Hint: it's Donkey Kong :D ). With a lightning quick appearance from Shauno to take the guys through his latest pickups and upcoming repair job (a Nintendo DSi), plus a guest appearance from the local wildlife living in Den's Garage and his recent brush with a huge Diamond Python – this episode is full of all the usual fun, banter and surprises! Thank you to all our listeners for tuning in! We hope you enjoy. On behalf of the Play It Up Podcast, Neil, Mike, Shauno and Den send their condolences to the family, friends and wider Donkey Kong community over the recent loss of Jeff “JC” Harrist, founder of donkeykongforum.com. Thank you, Jeff, for creating the basis for the active, friendly and supportive community around Donkey Kong games which we all know and enjoy being a part of today. We wish we had the opportunity to get to know you, and we greatly appreciate all of your time and work that went into DKF. Anyone else remember Flipnote Hatena on their Nintendo DSi? This week's guest Marisa Hetzler reminisces on the app that inspired her to pursue graphic design at FIT! Okay, well, she really spends most of the episode talking about the systemic issues in the graphic design industry, ways designers and brands must address social justice in their work, and how brands have been (un)successfully adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic. Marisa also gives an overview of what her graphic design track at FIT is like and the ways in which the curriculum and professors must change. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Bonjour et bienvenue to the DIY animation show! We are back with part 2 of our interview with Kevin Gemin, aka KekeFlipNote, as well as our final episode of season four! Last time, we learned how the Nintendo DSi ignited Kevin's passion for animating that still burns strong to this day. We were also given a detailed walkthrough of just how he makes his adorable, bouncing animations, as well as how to survive the naysayers and focus on what brings you joy. Today in Part 2, Kevin continues to enlighten us… - ...As he recounts how he came to work on the video series 'L'Odyssee de Klassik' - The most challenging episode of 'L'Odyssee de Klassik' and why - Tips for animating dance to music - Practices for supporting other artists online and protecting your own work - And the one most vital thing he thinks a diy animator needs! This episode wraps up Season 4 of the DIY Animation Show. This summer, there won't be any season break posts as we both have big personal things coming up - moving, job transitions - you all know what that's like! So we hope you all have a fantastic spring and summer, filled with fun and animation, and we'll see you back here for Season 5 in autumn 2020! (Be on the lookout - we'll post a teaser the week before we release the first new episode!) Until then, follow your heart, and have fun animating! This episode is an indie production from your hosts, Jessica Doll & Lauren Morse. Our theme music is provided by Azureflux.
What do pigeons, baguettes, and a Nintendo DSi all have in common? Kevin Gemin, of course! AKA 'KekeFlipnote'! Hailing from France, Keke's work overflows with joy and charm. It's easy to recognize his work. Quite often, his animations feature adorably bouncy, dancing, happy animals, smiling and living their best lives in silly and sweet scenarios. On top of this, the aesthetic of his animations is completely unique. Using his trusty Nintendo DSi as his go-to tool, the final look of his animations is a semi-pixelated 2D affair, unable to be replicated using any other program outside of the FlipNote Studio app. If you ever need to put a smile on your face, just turn to Keke's work. You'll be grinning ear-to-ear in no time! In today's interview, we learn… - “Why pigeons, foxes, and baguettes?” - How FlipNote Studio's unique magic captured Keke's heart - Exactly how Keke creates one of his gifs in FlipNote Studio… and it's not as straight-forward as you'd think - How Keke makes his squash and stretch ‘just so squashy and stretchy' - And surviving the naysayers and focusing on what brings you joy This episode is an indie production from your hosts, Jessica Doll & Lauren Morse. Our theme music is provided by Azureflux.
