PUBLIC VERSION. Director Travis Greene and writer Jonathan Buchanan (8 FOUND DEAD- currently available to rent or purchase digitally) join Adam, Joe, and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to discuss the making of their award winning new feature. From the writing of 8 FOUND DEAD's non-linear story and pushing back on the note to “unfold it” and tell the story in a more traditional order of events… to Travis risking it all by selling his house to finance the production and then finding himself renting a place that just so happened to be the perfect location to shoot the film… to the import role that Priscilla's Gourmet Coffee Shop and their legendary Raspberry Mocha played in helping the film come to life… to blocking and staging a story in four separate but converging timelines… to how Jonathan's years as a prop master and Travis' years as an editor prepared them for producing their very own feature without getting caught up in the usual first-time producer pitfalls… to knowing when and when not to listen to test audiences' opinions of early cuts even when they are filled with trusted friends… to going on to win “Best Feature” and “Best Director” at the 2022 ScreamFest in Los Angeles… we hope that this incredibly inspiring conversation helps push you to stop waiting for someone else's permission and start making your dream a reality! Remember, ”if not now WHEN?” Dr. Arwen provides “Hollywood Therapy” for a listener who is about to move to the United States and who is looking for some tips about attending her very first horror convention, Adam has some advice for grumpy convention celebrities, and the boys joke about what a big success YORKIETHON 8 will be… several weeks before finding out just how successful it actually was! But more on that next week in our special Christmas episode!

I watched this film as part of Screamfest and after leaving a review on my Instagram story, Matthew reached out to me and then we scheduled a time to record over his film and one other. The film also stars DeAnna S. Wright, it was directed by Matthew's brother, Will Kresch, who also co-wrote the film with A. V. Bach. Hopefully ou will be able to stream it somewhere soon. According to IMDb, Alone Together (Horror/Thriller) is about Nassdja, a woman trapped in a toxic relationship, is locked down during a pandemic with her brutish boyfriend Luke. With the hope of healing their relationship, they flee to Luke's remote family cabin but soon find they are not alone. Alone Together Cocktail: Ingredients 2 ounces vodka Red Bull, to top Directions Add vodka to a highball glass with ice. Fill with Red Bull and stir. Drinking Game: Drink when... they say Wi-Fi. there's a gun on screen. Finish your drink when... you hear the clicker. As always, drink responsibly and with friends. Share the podcast with others. I watched this film, based on a novel by Victor Pelevin, as part of this years Screamfest. It is not your typical vampire film in any way, more of a romance story, but very interesting. I found out in the interview that Sharon Stone was originally going to be in it, how crazy is that. The film is about a 19-year-old nobody receives an invitation to join an elite and powerful society of vampires in Moscow. Empire V Cocktail: Victor suggested a bloody mary but with red absinthe and spices, or moonshine. The moonshine would probably taste better and is easier to obtain, I've only seen red absinthe in Europe. Drinking Game: According to Victor, there are no rules, so drink when you decide to. Here is another wonderful bonus episode for you to enjoy. I was able to watch What You Wish For as part of Screamfest and then I got the privilege of interviewing the writer and director Nick Tomnay (The Perfect Host). This was a great horror/thriller, so keep an eye out for when it's released for you to stream. A down-on-his-luck chef with gambling problems flees to a Latin American villa, where he assumes the identity of another man. The film stars Nick Stahl (Sin City, Tiny Beautiful Things), Tamsin Topolski (Penny Dreadful), Randy Vasquez, Penelope Mitchell, Juan Carlos Messier, Brian Groh, Greg Winter and more. Red Wine will be the themed beverage for What You Wish For, so grab your favorite bottle, or two, of red wine. Drinking Rules Drink when... Ryan (Nick Stahl) looks freaked out. Before you listen to this episode, go watch the film. You can buy or rent it from your favorite streaming platform, but I would recommend buying it over renting. I was able to watch KillHer last year as part of Screamfest and it was one of my favorites that I watched. It finally worked out to have an interview and it was a lot of fun talking to Tom, Robyn, and Rick. Tom wrote, produced, and starred in the film, Robyn directed the film, and Rick was the production designer. According to IMDb (which there is a rating of 8.9 for the film), the synopsis for Killher is Mattie and her friends go on a weekend trip to the woods to plan Mattie's wedding, settled near the camp of Mr. Rogers, and with no phone signal, their trip starts to turn into a bad idea when they start dying and a secret is revealed. Themed Cocktails: Rick's Cocktail: Scout's Honor from Bigfoot Lodge Ingredients 1 fluid ounce vodka 1 fluid ounce creme de cocao 1 fluid ounce creme de menthe 1 fluid ounce Irish cream liqueur 1 mint leaf Directions Pour the vodka, creme de cocao liqueur, creme de menthe, and Irish cream into a cocktail shaker over ice. Cover, and shake until the outside of the shaker has frosted. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a mint leaf to serve. Tom's Cocktail: A Bloody Mary Ingredients 1 teaspoon sea salt, or as needed ice cubes, as needed ¾ cup spicy tomato-vegetable juice cocktail 1.5 ounce vodka 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce 1 dash Tabasco salt and ground black pepper to taste 1 stalk celery 2 garlic-stuffed green olives, threaded onto a toothpick 1 pickle Directions Gather all ingredients. Pour salt onto a small plate. Moisten the rim of a glass and press into the salt. Fill the glass with ice cubes. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes; add vegetable juice cocktail, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, salt, and pepper. Cover and shake until the outside of shaker has frosted, about 20 seconds. Strain Bloody Mary into the prepared glass. Garnish with celery stalk and olives. Throw in the pickle for the surprise. Robyn's Drink: Snake Bite Ingredients Lager or Stout Cider Directions Fill a chilled beer glass halfway full with cider. Top the cider with choice of beer—preferably lager or stout—and serve. KillHer Drinking Rules: Robyn's Rules: Drink every time… you laugh as an audience. you hear the word “raccoon”. Jess says she wants to leave. you see a cigarette burn in the upper right corner. you see trees. you see a shot that reminds you of a certain shot in a horror film. you see a knife. you see a mask. you see Jagger's beautiful smile. Tom's Rules: Drink every time… you see a product placement. you see an “Easter Egg”. Rick's Rules: Drink every time… a character appears with a new button from HXB. As always, drink responsibly and with friends. Share the podcast with others. Follow/Subscribe on your favorite streaming platform, leave me a five star review. Hayride to Hell is about how a small town farmer exacts his bloody revenge on unscrupulous town folk who try to steal his land. It's director by Dan Lantz, who I got to interview, written by Kristina Chadwick and Robert Lange, and stars Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), Kane Hodder (Jason Vorhees himself from many Friday the 13th films and Victor Crowley from the Hatchet franchise), and Graham Wolfe. This is a fun and campy horror film that I really enjoyed as part of Screamfest this year. Please go check it out at your local theater. Hayride to Hell Cocktail: Ingredients 1/2 ounce (or 1 oz if you use syrup) Amaretto 1/2 ounce pumpkin vodka or 1 ounce pumpkin spice syrup 1 shot espresso 4 ounces of steamed milk (or cold milk if you use ice) Directions Combine all ingredients in a coffee mug and top with fresh whipped cream. Sprinkle with pumpkin spice and serve hot or over ice. Hayride to Hell Drinking Game: Drink when... Bud says, "Now that's what I'm talking about." Karen does a "Karenism". Nixler does a goofy look. As always, drink responsibly and with friends. Share the podcast with others. Follow/Subscribe on your favorite streaming platform, leave me a five star review. The founder, Petey Mongelli, shares the intriguing origins of Spooky Empire, which emerged from his desire to create a rock 'n roll convention but found inspiration in the growing world of horror, particularly through artists like Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. I had the esteemed pleasure of interviewing Director and writer Kyle Perritt to discuss his new and upcoming thriller, "Robbie Ain't Right No More" (2023) starring the talented Madeleine McGraw (The Black Phone) who portrays the younger sister to Robbie. Although there is no direct message to be conveyed by the director for this film, it's aimed to show that the main protagonist shows signs of great disturbance when he returns home from war. The movie will make it's premiere this fall ahead of its December 1, 2023 release. The film will make its debut at a number of acclaimed festivals including Screamfest in Los Angeles (October 10-19), Telluride Horror Show (October 13-15), Provo Utah's Film Quest (October 26-Nov 4), and Toronto After Dark (October 18-22). Kyle Perritt is a United States Marine Veteran and I would love to thank him for his service and undying dedication for recognizing post traumatic stress disorder which is considered a serious mental illness. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/southjerseyhorror/message

Most recently, her films were screened at Screamfest, Salem Horror Fest, Horrorhound Weekend, and Final Girls Berlin. Spooky season has indeed arrived, bitches. And here's an extra jolt if your pumpkin spice latte ain't quite doing it. Welcome Rachel Belofsky, film producer and founder of the iconic SCREAMFEST in LA -- the biggest and longest-running horror film festival in the US where films like Paranormal Activity and Human Centipede were discovered. These guys are sticking it to the suits while making you scareds sh*tless in your suit. Going on its 22nd year and located at the legendary Chinese Theater, Rachel and I gear up for this year's festival and killer (ha, ha) lineup by diving deeper into the genre and talking: indie horror filmmaking, nepotism, tropes and theme trends, and creative freedom. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/taylor-ferber/support

I'm texting back and forth with my oldest friend Jeff when he says, “We saw a clip yesterday of The Blob. Do you remember us watching that as kids?” Boy, do I! Just the mere mention of the title and all of these emotions come flooding back. I was around 11 when I saw that movie, and it was so terrifying that it has stuck with me to this day. Why can I remember that movie so vividly? I can remember the pictures, what I felt, and even exactly where I was sitting (or hiding) when I watched it. The ability to tell a story that evokes such strong emotions is what makes your story memorable. And my guest today is incredibly skilled at doing just that. Gus Krieger writes, produces, and directs and is here to talk about all the things! What should you not do when describing moments or characters? What do a street vendor and Luke Skywalker have in common? Why do stories have the ability to drive others to action, both small and grand? In this episode, Gus and I discuss and answer these questions, his technique for battling the “blank page blues”, and much more! What you will learn in this episode: How to dramatize true life experience in storytelling How to know if your protagonist is relatable to your audience What insultingly common mistake new storytellers must avoid Who is Gus? Gus Krieger is a producer, director, screenplay writer, and author. His first original screenplay production The Killing Room stars Academy Award winner Timothy Hutton and nominee Chloe Sevigny. Directed by Jonathan Liebesman (Halo, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), it premiered in 2009 at the Sundance Film Festival. Gus also wrote and directed the horror short “Ol' Stan Levid” which premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre for Screamfest. He also carried out rewrites on the feature film Operation Endgame which stars Bob Odenkirk and Zack Galifianakis. He went on to write, produce, and direct The Binding, a feature thriller starring Amy Gumenick (Arrow), Max Adler (Glee, Sully), and Leon Russom (True Grit, The Big Lebowski). My Name is Myeisha, Gus' sophomore feature film, received worldwide acclaim and took home Slamdance, Seattle, and Boston Underground awards, among others. Warner Bros. Entertainment plans to adapt his debut novel Superworld into a feature film directed by Jason Bateman. This episode of Believe It! is predictably off the rails as the hosts delve into the first 12 (twelve!!) episodes of OG Naruto filler. The first arc covers Sakura, Naruto and Jiraiya on a frequently-problematic trip to Orochimaru's Screamfest hideout. The second features the return of Naruto-character-that-we-all-totally-remember Mizuki, who has drank Orochimaru's secret botion and become Tony The Tiger. Look, we didn't write this. Duncan makes his argument for loving Naruto filler. Liam has strong feelings about clan fealty. Dom is elated that filler Sakura rules. Kt is torn between loving and hating buff, tatted, prison-Mizuki. This covers too many episodes of Naruto, dubbed. --- If you want to support us making more episodes, straight-up fork over the cash to our Patreon or we're calling it quits: http://www.patreon.com/believeit --- If you'd like to wander in to Orochimaru's House of Horrors, follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/believeitcast http://www.twitter.com/cqcoffee http://www.twitter.com/jonescarroway http://www.twitter.com/emailthe0nly --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/believeit/message
At only 21 years of age Matt Eskandari’s short film “The Taken” won the award for Best Student Film at the renowned horror film festival "Screamfest". This caught the attention of Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett who casted Matt for the 2007 reality filmmaker competition series "On The Lot". He eventually directed the independent hit "12 Feet Deep" which led him to work on three movies starring Bruce Willis, two of which were released in 2020. His latest Hard Kill is available on Netflix.

Among the most consequential races in San Diego this election season is the race for San Diego mayor. Assemblymember Todd Gloria and City Councilmember Barbara Bry are both Democrats but their priorities are different. Plus, the November election is just around the corner, but polling sites will be different this year than in the past. We explain the ins and outs of voting. Also, California’s disastrous wildfire season is now one for the record books. Roughly 4 million acres have burned — the most in one season in modern California history. That is bringing attention to where California is building new homes and the fire safety measures required in that construction. And, a local filmmaker’s short horror comedy is being screened at L.A.’s Screamfest next week.
Haunt Season officially kicks off with Hollywood ScreamFest 3 as we talk through all the mazes and scare zones of the virtual haunt including "Dark Magic" and "Shadows of the East"

The wait is over; Friday's broadcast on the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Kamloops is now the best part of your Monday morning! This podcast features our exclusive conversation with writer/director/producer/mad genius Meredith Red! And we're talking her new horror/short, Murder for Dummies! Meredith has put together a pretty wild horror/comedy, which debuts at Screamfest later this year. She talks about where the idea for this wacky -- and gory -- flick came from, how she cast Cleo Elliott, daughter of the legendary Sam Elliott, and what it was like working with her husband, acclaimed filmmaker Eric Red. Our man Shawn Knippelberg was recruited to do the music. How'd that happen? Intrigued? Stick with us! And stick around, as the Terrible Trio bring you up to date on what they've been watching, which includes the new sci-fi/drama Archive starring Theo James and Rhona Mitra, the Mel Gibson action flick Force of Nature, and Korean cinema in general. This is all yours to listen to right here, right now, for free. So push play and enjoy!
Bodom (2016) Directed by Taneli Mustonen and inspired and based on the Lake Bodom murders of 1960. The Finnish film follows a group of Finnish friends decide to go camping by Lake Bodom to do a reconstruction of the 1960 murders, but something goes wrong. The film has more twists than the mountain road the cast travel on to get to Lake Bodom. The main actress Mimosa Williamo would win best actress at Screamfest 2016. It's almost that time of year again, friends. Oh yes, the time when things get a little cooler, and just a LITTLE more terrifying out there. It's nearly everyone's favourite time of year: Halloween! And we've got a great show for you this Halloween. No time to write the breakdown, but I'll tell you this: our main guest is self-published vampire author (she writes about them, she isn't one) Stephanie Sparks. We also chat with one of the organizers of Screamfest, Scott reads something dramatically and spooky for you, and I rant about non-trick-or-treaters who put no effort into their Halloween-night capering. Enjoy the show, and let us know what you thought in the comments!
