Molly discussed the programming, based on four pillars, STEM, Lifeskills, Outdoors and Entrepreneurship, with girls as young as 4 able to enroll. She described how girls grow with their troops and how they work with caring adults and schools to organize them. We talked about their signature fundraiser, Girl Scout Cookies, and how girls learn business planning, financial literacy and teamwork from their campaign. She also discussed the camping experience, available to all girls and offering different programs to appeal to all, from horses to science to music. We also discussed its one-of-a-kind event, GirlzDay: Our World, Our Way, which will take place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on May 17, 2025. Open to all girls, scout or not, there will be opportunities to learn more about scouting with a mini-camp, STEM activities and team projects, ending with a glow dance party. The day will showcase the efforts of the ‘Girl Bosses,’ scouts who have spent the past nine months working with their peers, dedicated volunteers and mentors to identify problems in their communities, such as homelessness, public transportation safety, and hunger, and take actionable steps to develop sustainable solutions. The 2025 Philadelphia Flower Show is themed “Gardens of Tomorrow.” Seth Pearsoll, President and Creative Director of the flower show says they wanted the event to be timeless. The event is set to take place from March 1-9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. “We like all of the different people who create something with us There's thousands of them. We want them to have something they can get excited about and do their thing at the show And then we also want the show to be kind of slightly referencing something that's happening in the world in this case We wanted to remind people that If you're a gardener if you're a plant lover if you like botanicals You're kind of in a field that's helping to make the world a better place to give you something to look forward to So gardens of tomorrow.” The Entrance Garden, “Futura Florentia” sets the tone for visitors. It’s divided more into three giant beds and each has a custom water feature inside of it. “We modified the rain bars from car washes Because we were looking for a really specific Like sound and pattern so we have these really cool kind of Custom rain bars in each of the garden and then on the inside of these Custom water elements this insane floral display. So you've got you know, these incredible flowers You've got the sound that gentle kind of dripping of water. You've got kind of that crystalline rivulet, you know of water falling And then we've also got 24 cherry trees up above up high So whole thing is surrounded by beautiful blossoming trees. We also custom -made 12 of these concrete printed Kind of vases these giant containers and then our floral partner will Do a really modern kind of horizontal floral arrangement over the top of that? And then of course every garden has incredible horticulture and incredible garden beds So you've got custom lighting elements. You've got these kind of really nice sonic element with the water You've got flowers everywhere got trees overhead.” Listen to the podcast to hear more of the conversation. Matt Radar, President of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society discussed the 195th Philadelphia Flower Show, the nation's first and the world's largest indoor flower exhibition March 2 through March 10 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.  We discussed the impact of the show which is expected to pump 60 million dollars into the local economy through hotels, restaurants, transportation and other local attractions, it also serves as an inducement for international travel to the Philadelphia region. This year's theme is United By Flowers and he described the installations that will be presented, new designers, the largest water feature ever on display, and more international participants.  We talked about the programming this event supports; this is the biggest fundraiser of the year for PHS.  Matt talked about the community gardens that supply fresh produce, Tree Tenders that plants trees that lower neighborhood temperatures and provide shade, and their vacant lot rescues that actually lowers crime numbers and adds to home values.   It also funds programming that maintains the city parks and boulevard plantings and underwrites their Work Force Development that teaches low income and the formerly incarcerated participants horticultural and job skills. He notes they have a 90% job placement record for its graduates.  We discussed volunteers, over 3,000 are used to produce the show, plus all year they need tree tenders and gardeners to plant, clear and maintain public plantings.  Matt invites everyone to come and enjoy the show, there is something for everybody, from interior and patio décor, flowers, bulbs, furnishings and floral art, with class and demos for large projects and window boxes, plus special events such as Member's Day and the Preview Gala March 1st, family Frolic day on March 3rd, Fido Friday March 8th and the Flowers  After Hours dance party March 9th.   He encouraged us to become members to enjoy discounts and the member's lounge at the show and special programming throughout the year.  For more information about membership, programming and The Philadelphia Flower Show go to PHSonline.org

Diversity in children's literature allows young readers to see themselves reflected in the stories they read, fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth. Additionally, exposure to diverse characters and cultures promotes empathy, understanding, and acceptance of others who may be different from them. By featuring a wide range of experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives, diverse children's literature opens windows to the world, broadening young minds and encouraging them to embrace the richness of human diversity from an early age. Out of the gate, Dom asks the Congressman how he plans to vote, with Van Drew revealing that he'd be a ‘no' vote, falling in line with Perry from earlier, explaining the negative implications of raising the ceiling and telling of multiple instances of excessive spending over agreed budgets in the past. Also, Van Drew and Giordano discuss Van Drew's continued strong support of the New Jersey shore, particularly his work in investigating the mass amount of whale and dolphin carcasses washing ashore. Then, Van Drew offers his thoughts on McCarthy's leadership, and tells whether recent shark sightings have any relation to off-shore windmills, the suspected culprit of the whale and dolphin deaths. You won't want to miss my interview with Larry Miller and his daughter Laila Lacy. They are coauthors of "Jump: My Secret Journey from the Streets to the Boardroom" It's a compelling story of the highly successful chairman of Nike's Jordan Brand who for decades hid the fact he served time as a teenager for the murder of an 18-year-old. Full Hour | In today's second hour, Dom Giordano welcomes back in legendary actor William Shatner to discuss the upcoming Philadelphia FanExpo from April 8-10th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. First, Shatner and Giordano discuss the famed actor's ties to Philadelphia, reflecting upon the multiple times he spent on the Mike Douglas Show. Then, Shatner is shocked when Dom reveals that Pete Davidson will be the next celebrity in line to go to space, with Dom asking him for what he learned when he went up to space with Blue Origin. In addition, Shatner tells about the culmination of his spoken word albums, and tells the role that he's most proud of. Then, Giordano switches to some sports stories, discussing the Phillies decision to sign Jeurys Familia and Odubel Herrera, two players with pasts checkered with domestic violence allegations. Giordano takes umbrage with the Phillies decision, explaining why we should not be signing people with pasts like these, and ties it into a discussion about whether the Eagles should pursue Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Then, Giordano provides an update on the performance of transgendered swimmer Lia Thomas, who will compete in the NCAA championship soon.   After that, Giordano offers his predictions for the Pennsylvania Senate Primary, propping up the negatives of both Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick against one another. Giordano then gives an update on the other side of things, telling that John Fetterman seems to be the clear frontrunner for the Democratic Party in the race to fill Pat Toomey's seat. (Photo by Bennett Raglin/Getty Images for ReedPop)

PANASONIC PLANNING ELECTRIC VEHICLE BATTERY PLANT IN U.S. - Japan's Panasonic Corp. is looking to purchase land in the United States for a massive factory to make a new type of electric vehicle battery for Tesla, public broadcaster NHK reported on Friday. - Panasonic is looking at building the several billion dollar factory in either Oklahoma or Kansas for their proximity to Texas, where Tesla is preparing a new EV plant, NHK reported. NHK gave no timeline for Panasonic's U.S. project. - A long-time Tesla supplier, Panasonic has already announced plans to begin mass-producing the new type of lithium-ion battery for Tesla before the end of March, 2024 with two new production lines at its western Japanese plant in Wakayama. Original Source : https://www.autonews.com/automakers-suppliers/panasonic-planning-electric-vehicle-battery-plant-us KIA AIMS TO SELL 1.2 MILLION EVS IN 2030 - Following in Hyundai's footsteps, Kia has now also presented its strategic roadmap for accelerating its electrification ambitions by 2030. To achieve the sales target, at least two new electric models are to be introduced each year. - Kia assumes – based on 160,000 BEV sales this year – that it will already sell 807,000 BEVs in 2026 and then 1.2 million battery-electric cars in 2030. - With the 1.87 million electric cars Hyundai is targeting, according to its strategy update unveiled the day before, Hyundai-Kia would have sales of more than three million electric cars in 2030. - While Hyundai has announced further development of its current EV platform E-GMP for 2025, Kia does not mention this Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA). Hyundai plans to rely not only on standardized e-motors and chassis designs, but also on batteries with cell-to-pack technology from CATL, which does not require modules. In its announcement, Kia refers to everything from the upcoming EV9 – the large E-SUV is still based on the current E-GMP. - Kia announces production of “small and mid-sized electric vehicles” in Europe starting in 2025 – this will likely be located at the Zilina plant in Slovakia Original Source : https://www.electrive.com/2022/03/03/kia-aims-to-sell-1-2-million-bevs-in-2030/ KIA AUTOMODE TO LAUNCH IN 2023, COMING TO EV9 SUV FIRST - Korean car manufacturer Kia is to launch an autonomous driving mode for select vehicles from 2023 on. - AutoMode uses a range of proprietary autonomous driving technologies, which include Highway Driving Pilot to enable driver-less travel on motorways and highways. It will feature first in next year's Kia EV9 SUV and, by 2026, will be available in all new models launched in major markets. - AutoMode will receive regular over-the-air updates as new features are developed. Kia will also enhance and improve the system with the goal of eventually offering fully autonomous technology. Original Source : https://www.pocket-lint.com/cars/news/kia/160259-kia-automode-to-launch-in-2023-autonomous-driving-coming-to-ev9-suv-first HYUNDAI BRANDS TO USE NEW EV PLATFORM WITH STANDARDIZED BATTERIES AND MOTORS - Hyundai Motor Group has just launched its first models based on a dedicated electric-vehicle platform known as the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), but the Korean auto giant has already announced a next-generation platform that will further standardize key parts across vehicles from the Hyundai, Kia and Genesis brands. - The new platform is known as the IMA (Integrated Modular Architecture), and it's an evolution of the E-GMP design. But unlike the E-GMP, which has different battery systems for each vehicle it supports, the IMA will have a standardized battery. The motors (of which there will be five types) and key chassis components will also be standardized, all helping to improve production efficiencies. - the platform will suit all segments and will be used for both passenger vehicles and purpose-built vehicles, such as delivery vehicles and shuttles for self-driving taxi services. - From 2025, Genesis will only launch EVs. - the redesigned Genesis G90 will offer a self-driving capability at Level 3 on the SAE scale in some markets by the second half of 2022 Original Source : https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1135204_hyundai-brands-to-use-new-ev-platform-with-standardized-batteries-and-motors MERCEDES EQS SUV SPIED UP CLOSE TESTING IN CALIFORNIA - The EQS is currently the most technologically advanced EV from the Stuttgart-based firm and it will soon morph into a high-riding EQS SUV. We've seen it testing on a number of occasions and a new video shows us a prototype on a parking lot in South California. - This new sighting of the model doesn't give us a look under the camouflage, though we get a very quick look inside the cabin. For now, everything remains heavily camouflaged - The EQS will join the already existing EQA, EQB, and EQC, all built on modified platforms for combustion cars. The range-topping EV SUV will be assembled in the United States at the Tuscaloosa plant from 2022 along with the smaller EQE SUV. - The only piece of confirmed information available so far is that Mercedes estimates the range between charges will be up to 373 miles (600 kilometers), depending on the configuration. Organizers say one of the big-ticket items that car enthusiasts will come to check out is the Fully-electric Ford F-150 Lightning. - The newest attraction this year is the e-Track, the show's first-ever multi-brand electric vehicle test track. This involves turning the Group's largest engineering unit with 11,500 employees into a pace-setter for the Volkswagen brand's transformation into a technology company. - The main emphasis is on a complete redesign of the development process, making it interdisciplinary, focused squarely on software, customer requirements and SSP, Volkswagen's electric platform of the future, and centered on functions rather than individual components. - This is expected to cut development time by about a quarter, increase the speed of new software releases and also significantly accelerate manufacturing processes in production. - In the 1990s, vehicle development centered primarily on components. As functions and electronics were added in the early 2000s, connectivity began to play an increasingly important role. Now and in the future, the vehicle must be viewed as one system in the customer's entire ecosystem and communicate seamlessly with all systems outside the vehicle. - vehicle projects will be completed in 40 months instead of 54 months as before Original Source : http://www.automobilsport.com/cars-tuning--37/cars-tuning--37,234746,Volkswagen-realigns-Technical-Development-shorter-product-cycles-and-faster-digital-offerings,news.htm AUDI REVEALS UPDATED Q4 E-TRON EV WITH FASTER CHARGING AND UPDATED INTERIOR   Original Source : https://www.aol.co.uk/motoring/audi-reveals-updated-q4-e-132743050.html 2022 FIAT E-ULYSSE DEBUTS AS AN ELECTRIC MINIVAN FOR EUROPE Original Source : https://insideevs.com/news/571006/fiat-e-ulysse-electric-mpv/ GLOBAL BATTERY DEMAND TO INCREASE 15-FOLD AS EV BOOM TAKES OFF Original Source : https://oilprice.com/Energy/Crude-Oil/Global-Battery-Demand-To-Increase-15-Fold-As-EV-Boom-Takes-Off.html TESLA FEARS HAVING TO SHUT DOWN SERVICE CENTERS IN OKLAHOMA AS NEW BILL PASSES COMMITTEE Original Source : https://electrek.co/2022/03/03/tesla-fears-having-to-shut-down-service-centers-oklahoma-new-bill-passes-committee TESLA ROADSTER MAKES HISTORY WITH $250K SALE Original Source : https://www.benzinga.com/news/22/02/25884348/tesla-roadster-makes-history-with-250k-sale-heres-the-worlds-most-expensive-tesla THE ARC ONE IS AN ELECTRIC BOAT WITH A BATTERY PACK THREE TIMES THE SIZE OF TESLA'S Original Source : https://www.theverge.com/2022/3/3/22958830/arc-electric-boat-pre-proudction-photo-video-battery BYD SELLS 88,283 NEVS IN FEB, UP 752.6% YEAR-ON-YEAR   Original Source : https://cnevpost.com/2022/03/03/byd-sells-88283-nevs-in-feb-up-752-6-year-on-year QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM What's the best looking EV on the market right now? On the bright winter morn of February 9th the Beer and Booze Broz sent out their Beer Pigeons to alert the Booze Army. And the Booze Army responded with gusto and fervor to Yards Brewing Company on 500 Spring Garden Street for a meetup that dreams are made of. Many of you traveled from far and wide to bask in the presence of the Broz, and to you we say, you're welcome. And just a heads up, Beer and Booze presence may take a minute to scrub off, we recommend baking soda. After history's greatest meetup, the boys travel by car service and Beer Pigeon to the Bourse building in Old City to eat some candy with their beverages. Things really go downhill alarmingly fast at a beer festival at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and then after an undetermined amount of recovery time, the boys watch jilted lovers shred pictures of their exes for Valentines Day. The Beer and Booze Broz is a KYW Newsradio original Podcast. John McDevitt (@jm1060) and Paul Kurtz (@kurtzpaul) and the Broz. Tom Rickert (@teerick) produces the podcast.
