We get it. It's tempting to ask the people closest to us (and sometimes strangers on the internet) what we should do… for every single decision we have to make. But is this really what's best for us?On this week's episode, we're discussing the drawbacks of outsourcing our power to other people. Why do we trust everyone else on the planet more than we trust ourselves? How can we learn to listen to our own intuition, sort through advice from other people, and take actions that move us towards the life we desire? The truth is that other people are only able to tell you how they see it. Their perspective is clouded by their own life experiences and circumstances, and those oftentimes don't align with our own. If you're looking to stop wasting time asking other people for advice and are ready to start taking action moving towards the one you desire, press play. Our perspective may be just the thing you need to get started.Takeaways:The societal norm encourages seeking validation from others.Listening to oneself is often overlooked in favor of external advice. The cost of ignoring self-trust can be significant.Quiet reflection is necessary to hear our inner voice.Pleasing everyone is impossible and can lead to dissatisfaction.Trusting ourselves can enhance our relationships with others.Self-trust is a lifelong journey that can start at any moment.Chapters:11:00 Navigating External Advice vs. Internal Wisdom21:40 Building Trust in Ourselves23:05 A Pivotal Moment: Learning to Trust Yourself31:06 Navigating Health and Self-Care34:03 The Importance of Quiet and Reflection37:17 Shortening the Gap Between Knowing and DoingLove,Meg & MaggiFollow us:InstagramTikTokFacebookYoutube [self-trust, personal growth, decision making, advice, inner voice, self-awareness, mental health, Glennon Doyle, Untamed, personal development]Music curtesy of LiQWYD

Saying “no” and feeling good about it can be two of the most difficult things to do at the same time. We usually get stuck flip-flopping back and forth between two extremes: saying yes to everything because we feel bad, or saying no aggressively because we are frustrated. Neither leave us feeling very good. Today we are talking about our struggles with these extremes and how we've learned to navigate these challenging situations. You'll leave this episode with tangible tools to help you say no while feeling good about it, with a few laughs along the way. Buckle up! We're getting real in this one. Do you like Halloween? Be honest! If you're like Meg, you LOVE any excuse to dress up, have a theme, and make life into a moment. If you're like Maggi, you'd rather pass on the dress up and decline the invite to the party. Each of us spent most of our lives doing the opposite to please or not upset those around us. Finally, we both decided to change that. Today we're having a fun conversation about how we like to approach Halloween, how we've learned to stay true to ourselves and what we actually like, and how these lessons carry over into all areas of life. You don't want to miss it! It is with great sadness we bring you our last episode of Becoming Intuitive with Meg & Maggi. Living intuitively is a beautiful way to live. It brings so much fulfillment, excitement, and joy. Listening to our intuition and trusting our gut can save us a lot of headaches down the road. Unfortunately and fortunately, once we learn to listen to our intuition, it is tough to ignore it. In this week's episode, Maggi takes you through how she came to the difficult decision to step away from this podcast. This decision came with a lot of careful consideration from both intuition from the gut and reasoning and logic from the mind. It's never easy to step away from a project or person or change course when things are going well, but it's a lot more challenging and harmful to wait until things are not going well anymore. We hope this episode and our entire mission of Becoming Intuitive shows you that you too can learn to trust yourself, trust your gut, and make hard decisions that sting right now, but are ulitmately what's best in the long run. We will miss you tremendously. All of our episodes will stay up so please go back and listen to them as you'd like. It's common that when the seasons change, our priorities also change. Today we're talking all about how we take care of ourselves in the fall. Each season has its beauty. The fall season typically brings structure, slowing down, and a bit more rest than the summertime. Some things we do in the fall as part of our self-care routines include cooking at home, eating warm foods, winding down a little bit earlier in the evenings, and sticking to our schedules. We hope you enjoy today's light and fun episode where we discuss what we love about this season and how we change our habits to best fit the time of the year. Have you ever felt stress as a physical response in your body? Maybe you get a headache when life gets crazy or if you're like me (Maggi), your face breaks out with acne. The physical manifestations of stress look different for everyone, but no matter how it looks for you, it's no secret that our minds and bodies are connected. The path from “life is great” to burnout isn't an all-or-nothing, straight shot. It's more of a sliding scale with stress needing to build up over time before we reach a place of complete burnout. Thankfully, there are many things we can do to manage our daily stressors and also build awareness around how we're doing, how life is affecting us at the moment, and what actions we need to take to course-correct to a more ideal state of being. This week's episode will leave you feeling seen and heard when it comes to your stress, and will also help you create tools to keep you away from burnout. If you're already in a place of burnout, we see you and hold so much space for you. With that being said, our podcast is not enough support and we highly encourage you to reach out for more help. Some of our favorite resources on this topic include the work of Cory Muscara - mindfulness meditation, and Brené Brown - shame and guilt. Definitely go check them out if you're interested in learning more! We're so excited for you to listen to this week's episode. If you find it valuable, please share it with a friend or on social media. Everyone can use support when it comes to relieving stress and avoiding burnout, so your share supports not only us but also your friends. We cannot thank you enough! Have you ever experienced a season where it feels like everything is going wrong and life is extremely difficult? Maybe you're in one of those seasons right now. We've had many of them, and this week is no exception. We were supposed to record this week's episode last Tuesday, and it didn't happen. We both showed up to the call prepared to record but had nothing in the tank. We were both drained and exhausted, and truthfully needed nothing more than a friend. So we didn't record. We decided to take our scheduled time to just be there for one another and give ourselves the space we needed to let out some of the hard things we'd been going through. We trusted that this week's episode would come out better if we waited to record, and we think that was the right decision. Today's episode is the story of how that happened and how giving ourselves the grace we needed on Tuesday turned everything around. If you need a little evidence that it's all going to be okay, this episode is a must-listen. Press play, and let's dive in. When was the last time you had fun? We are so excited to play when we're children, and then at some point that goes out the window because we need to be responsible adults. Somewhere along the way, we forgot to have moments where we don't take life so seriously. If you're anything like us, 99% of your life revolves around productivity, deadlines, and “adulting.” Fun and play are such important parts of life and we are working on adding in more time dedicated to having a good time. Today we're having an open and honest conversation about the struggle of allowing ourselves to let go, tips we've begun to incorporate to add more fun and play into our lives, and some hilarious stories bout what we found fun as kids. Today's episode truly is your permission slip to do something fun, whether it's for five minutes or a whole day. This life is meant to be enjoyed. Let's all do that a little bit more. Saying "no" is one of the hardest things to do. It was hard for us, and we know it's hard for you too. #recoveringpeoplepleasers You know the cycle - you say yes to everyone and everything, get fed up, start to say no, beat yourself up, and repeat. Change can be challenging. I mean, even recognizing that we need to change is so tough. But you know you want to live life differently than you are right now. That's why you're here. And that's what we're talking about today. Today's conversation is about how our lives weren't working when we were listening to what other people and societal norms wanted for us. We take you through how we used to live, the moments we recognized we wanted something different, and what it took (and still takes) to get there. Living intuitively takes work, every single day. It takes trial and error and reflecting on how we feel before, during, and after we make choices during our day-to-day lives. It's not easy, but it's certainly worth it. We're so excited for you to hear this week's episode, and we truly hope you enjoy it. Be sure to leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify and let us know your favorite part of this episode. We're back with a guest today on the podcast! This week, we're interviewing Katie Stoeckeler and this is a conversation that we know is going to bring you so much value, get you thinking in new ways, and leave you feeling inspired to prioritize yourself so you can be there for others. Raised in Ellenville, Katie now lives in Piermont, New York, and owns a mindfulness studio, Peace in Piermont (PiP). At PiP, Katie teaches children, adults, and families ways of de-stressing and living in the present moment. After noticing the impact of her teachings and feeling inspired to share them with a broader audience, Katie began creating a book series. The Give Your Brain A Bath Book series aims to teach readers both the importance of practicing self-care and various methods of doing so to increase self-awareness and one's ability to self-regulate. So far, she's published three books: Let's Sit Down and Meditate, How Yoga Saved Christmas, and Let's Have an Attitude of Gratitude. Katie is actively working to make self-care more accessible by expanding her books into a television series and by developing an elementary-based curriculum. This past April, Katie launched a nonprofit, Peace in Ellenville (PiE), to spread mindful practices to her hometown! Some topics we cover in today's episode include: The importance of setting boundaries with ourselves How to speak to ourselves in ways that support us Navigating pivots in life Following our intuition while changing career paths How Katie built businesses while prioritizing herself Tangible reframes of how to talk to ourselves You can check out Katie's work at www.somethingkatie.com, www.pieceinpiermont.com, and www.giveyourbrainabath.com, or follow her on Instagram @somethingkatie and @peaceinpiermont. Do you ever feel like you're doing something wrong if you're not happy? We used to feel that way too and today we're talking about how we used to view happiness, how we strive to feel now, and how happiness fits into the wide range of emotions we experience on a daily basis. Our emotions oscillate. We need to expect to feel both positive and negative emotions, and it's important we allow them all to be present. Without the contract of bad days, we'd never appreciate the good ones. Some of today's main topics include: Contrast and duality of emotions Feeling wrong when we're not happy Finding peace Setting intentions and letting the path reveal itself How to put distance between you and your emotions A full breakdown of emotions Removing self-judgment What it means to truly love our life We truly hope you enjoy this episode. There are many different systems we can use to learn about ourselves, such as astrology and personality tests like the Enneagram and Myers-Briggs Type Inventory. Today we are diving into another system called Human Design. Human Design blends ancient and modern sciences and can be a helpful resource to learn about yourself. Your chart is created using your birth information, similar to astrology, and this can help you figure out what makes you uniquely you. According to the Jovian Archive website, “It offers profound insights into your psychology, along with strategies and techniques for making correct decisions and ultimately leading to a life of more ease and fulfillment.” (What, 2021). Today we are joined by Human Design expert, Ebony Hardiman. Ebony is a certified coach who helps her clients uncover and achieve their true desires in the simplest and easiest way possible through Human Design. Along with her Human Design readings, she focuses on creating resources that help her clients tap into their soul work and purpose to create lives that excite and satisfy them. Today's episode is an introduction to the Human Design system and it's such a fun episode to listen to. Ebony's energy is contagious and you'll leave this conversation feeling ready to not only learn about your own Human Design but also to take on your day with so much enthusiasm. In this episode, we discuss: What Ebony does as a Human Design & Embodiment Coach and how she got started What are the different Human Design energy types Descriptions of each energy type (Generators, Manifestors, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors) How people with different energy types interact with one another in society How we can use our Human Design to live our lives in the most aligned way In the second half of the episode, Ebony pulls up both of our charts and walks us through our gifts, struggles, and some of the components of each of our personalities that help us work well together! Remember - Human Design, just like any other system, is a tool you can add to your toolbox if you so choose. Ebony does a fantastic job in this episode of explaining what Human Design is, why it's so exciting to learn about it, and how it can help you. If this system doesn't resonate with you, that's okay! We're all allowed to choose what tools we add to our toolbox. Connect with us and Ebony via the links listed below. It's July, which means we're already half way through 2022. How did the beginning of the year go for you? Did you accomplish your goals? Have you taken action daily to get you closer to being the person you set out to be at the beginning of the year? This is the perfect time to reflect on what we set out to accomplish on January 1st, see how much progress we have made, and make changes to head into the second half of the year strong. However, we want to remind you that becoming the best version of ourselves is a process that requires showing up every single day. We cannot expect ourselves to decide to change and poof! Everything is different now. The concept of "New Year, New Me" doesn't only apply when the calendar year changes. We often get trapped into taking this approach all throughout the year. When we put so much pressure on ourselves to turn everything around once the clock strikes midnight, we're setting ourselves up for failure. This is why so many people have the same intention every single new year, or multiple times per year. If this is you, it's okay. We've all been there. Today we're re-airing our first episode of the year where we discuss how we can break free from the “New Year, New Me” cycle and take steps to reach our fullest potential every day of the year. Some topics covered in this episode include: How the mainstream fitness industry exploits people this time of year Digging past the surface level of our desires to figure out what we actually want Balancing grace and discipline to achieve our goals in a sustainable way Breaking free from who other people want you to be And so much more Tune in for a refresher episode to keep you going this time of year! We love to challenge ourselves to broaden the way we look at our health. Living a healthy life is a very large concept and it's always refreshing to look at it from a new perspective. Our guest this week, Doniga Markegard, helps us do just that. Doniga Markegard is a wildlife tracker, regenerative rancher, speaker, and author of Dawn Again: Tracking the Wisdom of the Wild and Wolf Girl: Finding Myself in the Wild. Doniga Markegard has a background in nature and permaculture. This has given her a perspective on the real risks that we are facing as a species. In her youth, she was mentored by some of the leading wildlife trackers, naturalists and Native spiritual elders. She spent years alone and with a small group of passionate youth in the Western Washington Wilderness learning the ways of the ancestors, immersing in nature, bird language, survival skills, and wildlife tracking. Along with her husband and four children, Doniga owns and operates Markegard Family Grass-Fed LLC raising grass-fed beef, lamb, pastured pork, chicken, and dairy supplying the Bay Area with local, nutrient-dense foods. The family ranch leases land throughout the Bay Area spanning over 10,000 acres. She is dedicated to finding ways to regenerate lands and community through ranching practices that build soil, sequester carbon, capture and purify water and enhance habitat. In this week's episode, Doniga introduces us to the world of permaculture, regenerative agriculture, and shows us how to find our 6th sense, intuition, and inner knowing. Doniga walks us through her upbringing as a non-traditional student and how this led her to be able to cultivate relationships with both nature and our own human nature. She teaches us how we can leave more life in the world than we take, how we can create strong relationships with ourselves by connecting to nature, practical tips to find your 6th sense, intuition, and inner knowing, and how we can all play a small role in restoring carbon back into the soil. You'll definitely learn something new from this episode whether or not you are new to these concepts, and we know you'll come away from this episode feeling inspired to connect more deeply to nature no matter where you live. We all know how important it is to take care of ourselves and stay healthy. Health is wealth, after all. However, the cost of wellness can definitely add up quickly. Have you ever heard the phrase that goes something like: make time for your wellness or else you'll be making time for your illness? We feel the same can be said when it comes to our money. We can either prioritize spending money on our wellness now, or we can spend a whole lot more money on illness later. Living well and being healthy can seem like a privilege, but it doesn't have to be. That is why this week we're taking you through how to prioritize all areas of your health while staying within your budget. In this episode, we discuss: How to figure out what your priorities are when it comes to wellness What our priorities are and how we spend our money accordingly Our personal ways we budget for our exercise, food, supplements, and mental and spiritual support like therapy Ideas of how you can save money and still get the outcome you're looking for The power that comes with having a grip on your finances and budget This episode takes you through finding your priorities once you have your budget established. We are not financial experts and highly recommend you look into resources from other people who can teach you how to do things like make budgets. We truly hope you enjoy this episode. Welcome back to The Meg and Maggi Podcast. We are so excited for you to hear this week's episode with our guest, Danielle Tallman. Danielle is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach and Yoga Instructor with a vast knowledge of holistic nutrition and lifestyle. Danielle believes that true wellness is already within us, not something we get from an outside source. She is dedicated to helping others discover what it means to live well. She considers herself a behavior-change expert and helps people find harmony within the different components of our health rather than balance. It can be tempting to want everything in our lives to balance out perfectly, but striving for balance often leaves us feeling like we are never good enough. The different components of our lives and our health are not meant to be perfectly in balance, but rather work together seamlessly, ebbing and flowing as our priorities change. This is where the concept of harmony comes into play. Functional Medicine helps us achieve harmony by getting to the “why” and down to the root cause of a health state. While Conventional Medicine is very important and needed for us to treat acute illness, Functional Medicine helps us achieve a state of wellness and spend most of our time there. Functional Medicine is also better equipped to help us treat chronic illnesses. Today, Danielle takes us through topics including: - What Functional Medicine is - How she helps her clients as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach - The importance of balancing blood sugar - The pathway of glucose in the body and how our bodies regulate our blood sugar - Mindfulness, mindful eating, being present, and cultivating awareness - How to achieve wins when it comes to improving our health in simple and sustainable ways - And so much more! Welcome back to another episode of The Meg and Maggi Podcast. This week we're taking you with us back to our college days. Both of us went to college directly from high school, and the period from graduating high school through our early twenties was full of the most extreme emotions, highs, and lows. Whether or not you went to college directly out of high school, this time in life is full of so many changes. We are thrown out into the “real world” and everything is different. This week we're taking you through our college years including the rough beginnings, friendships, fun nights, and lessons learned. Some main themes of this week's episode include: Not feeling like we fit into groups of people (maybe we're not supposed to) How our outer reality forms based on our beliefs about ourselves How we all go through periods of creating chaos in order to not have to deal with the things going on internally We know you'll relate to this episode and can't wait to share this conversation with you. We've all been on the receiving end of a phone call from a friend or family member in need. When we're on the receiving end, we usually want to give and do anything possible to help that person we care deeply about. This is one of the most beautiful parts of relationships and community: being there for one another. However, the only way we can truly support one another is if we first take care of ourselves. It is possible to truly support your loved ones while continuing to also support yourself. In order to do this, we must: Set boundaries with ourselves and our loved ones Decide how much support we can provide to different people Prioritize ourselves and fill our own cup first Separate ourselves from other people's problems and not take them on as our own Take care of ourselves in the morning and prime the day Speak up for ourselves when we don't have the space to support others These are all topics we cover in today's episode. Remember, this is not something that we will master in one day. Learning how to balance taking care of ourselves while also being there for others is a life-long process and requires constant work. We can't tackle everything at once. Take your favorite tips from today's episode and begin there. You've got this! We truly hope you enjoy this episode.
