You're driving to work on your usual route when you see the dreaded sign- “Road Closed ahead”. There's a detour. This seems like a plot to ruin your plans. It's only after you pass the roadblock that you understand the reason for the detour. In the Bible God tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.” How many detours have you taken in life? While it may seem that God is placing detours in our life to ruin our plans, He's really directing us to a safer path, away from danger. When you encounter a detour in life, will you thank God for the opportunity to drive down the safer road that He offers?

Why would God send you back to a tough situation? We probably to need to ask Hagar. She ran away from Abram & Sarai for some very logical reasons. The Angel of the Lord chased her down and sent her back for a season. Some practical instruction from the Lord is included in this challenging passage of Scripture.

The road ahead might be one less traveled; but what if it's a road that's been closed to you? Then it doesn't matter, because it now becomes a road you could never experience. We're told that we can do anything we wish, we only need to dream it. That's a great saying, but it's not true. We need to plan, execute and put forth the effort to make things happen in our lives. Yet most important, we need to move forward while the road is still open, available to travel upon. Time is our enemy. Uncertainty is our enemy. Procrastination is our enemy. There's a song that goes - "This is the day which the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Today IS the day for you to sing and rejoice in it. Make today the starting point of choosing your road and taking that first step now before potentially being blocked by a future 'road closure'.

If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. — 1 Corinthians 15:17 When our street was closed for a utility repair, there was only a sign that said, “Road Closed.” There was no explanation. We soon learned that a sewer line had broken, and the repair would only take a day—but the sign did not say any of that. As we saw yesterday in the book of Mark, the angel at the tomb announced that Jesus had risen, but there was no explanation of what that meant. “He has risen” is a declaration, not an explanation. Mark 16:6 simply records the angel's announcement. Thankfully, the Bible includes many other passages that help to explain this announcement, and the church and believers continue to work out the implications of that message for our daily living today. For example, 1 Corinthians 15 fills several pages with a discussion of the resurrection, including the point that “if Christ has not been raised . . . you are still in your sins.” And to put this positively, this means that because Christ has been raised, your sins have been forgiven, washed away, gone forever! This is the good news that Jesus came to bring and to make real in the lives of all who believe in him. This declaration is true: Christ lives, and our sins are gone! Jesus arose for me and for you! Thanks be to God! Dear God, even if I don't fully understand how Jesus' resurrection means that my sins are removed, help me to trust in you—and to see how powerful your love is for me. In Jesus, Amen.

Dunedin City Council has closed a public road so a sea lion can safely reach the ocean to get food for her new born pup. Hiriwa, the 150 kilogram sea lion, is currently nestled in bush alongside the 13th hole at Chisholm Links golf course in order to care for her newborn. John Wilson Ocean Drive, which separates the course from the ocean, will be closed for the next month. RNZ's Matthew Theunissen reports.
@Kosmicxkarma and I met back in the Kathleen Clay and Webkinz days (who knows how many years ago). Throughout the years we have randomly seen each other throughout the city and more recently through our lack of silence on the topic of systemic racism. See, the plan was to solely focus on having her educate me on the misconceptions that are associated with black alt culture but as usual we explored other connections to this issue. This culture receives excessive scrutiny because of their expression of the oppression within the world. I learned how the cultural appropriation of black alt culture is something that people do without even realizing it. It's brainwashed into us to see this as a white culture...…which then causes racial stereotyping without education or understanding of the history, fashion, culture and its practices. Gatekeeping is defined as the activity of controlling, and usually limiting, general access to something. As we spoke more on the issues gatekeeping poses we can clearly see it causes more division than unity. I also picked up on how there is more to learn about cultures that have been misappropriated for profit, which is way too many in my opinion. We live in a culture so quick to cancel something they don't understand out of fear vs logic or white wash it for profit. We see it everywhere as a trend without considering the origins and sacredness of these people, places and things. We went on to look at Greensboro specifically and I came to learn way more about how this culture is very prevalent in this city through artists such as Black Haus who are a representation of this culture and also local. She broke down all the different subgenres of cultures that could be considered alternative and when I say it blew my mind, it's understatement. There is a lack of safety in expression that is common and toxic in society. There is a quickness to be shut up or feel the need to hide, I admire the boldness and refusal to succumb under the racial gatekeeping/assumptions of who a person is based on how a person looks. We jumped into local past house shows/venues and how if you thought they are anything like a concert, that is just not the case. House shows create a community where expressing yourself with people who feel very similarly is the goal and letting it all go is the roadmap to get there. Yes, they can be overwhelming to navigate so knowing some etiquette is important before going to a house show and she gave tips and tricks for those who may have considered it. The live music, art, expression and the ability to organize these shows is something important to the culture and is surely missed Kosmickarma went through a brief history of the house show scene in Greensboro including Ice House, Grime House and Road Closed. There were some examples of toxic expression as well the strides taken to make sure that people stay as safe as possible without limiting their expression. I learned so much in this episode and as I continued through my days after recording I began to see how this culture is everywhere and how respecting the bravery to be one hundred percent the person you want to be is something worth admiring! We spoke on how people should respond to the culture and the hurtful ways that can no longer continue if we truly are to build bridges. Connect w. Pastor Mike Preaches from the book of Acts
In life, you will run into road closures and obstacles you simply cannot get past. So what do you do? Here's my story of facing a closed road...
Strap in for a five part extravaganza of classic cocktails, a cappella reminiscing, friendship woes, and professional wrestling. Yes, today we meet my friend Mark, whose heart and brain are exceptionally large and often in conflict. Wait, that’s me. Yes, today we meet my friend Mark, whose self-flagellating Catholic guilt runs deep and contrary to his tendency towards myopic judgement. Wait, that’s also me. Ahem…yes, today we meet my friend Mark, whose thoughtfulness is outshone only by his verbosity and tendency toward prepubescent boy humor. Shit…also me. Okay, apparently you’re meeting me today. Have fun with that. We begin with a discussion of “the facilities,” otherwise known as wherever I am with whatever I happen to have with a functioning microphone. This situation needs to be upgraded, and we’re certainly in the process of making that happen…one amazon purchase at a time. (Yeah, hey…take a look up there to the right of my head. See that “a” with a smile? That’s my amazon affiliate link. You can bookmark that, or just use it…and when you do amazon recognizes that we sent you and gives us a little monetary thank you.) We continue with a Manhattan incorporating Wigle straight rye, a fancy French vermouth I found at the store, a Luxardo maraschino cherry (…there’s an amazon affiliate link for you…), and lemon rind. We move through how Mark and I met, which leads us to a Sazerac incorporating Wigle “Absent Minded” (absinthe), Wigle straight rye, sage-infused simple syrup, Wigle aromatic bitters, and lemon rind. Now sufficiently buzzing, we reach the question at the foundation of our endeavor, “What drives you to drink, generally…and what drove you to drink, specifically, today?” Mark, ever the rule follower, noticed a “ROAD CLOSED” sign at the end of my street. (Water main leak/repair.) He parked in the Rite Aid lot and walked down…as cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and all forms of wheeled transportation ignored said sign and passed him on his ambulatory journey. Truth be told, I neglected to tell him about the sign to see what he would do…and I wasn’t disappointed. Listen here, and hear all about it. We present to you, “When is a closed road not closed? (Mark, pt. 1)” Oh…the music? Had to go full on a cappella…so, “If I ever fall in love” by Shai and, “Leave It” by Yes. Oh, and a Pandora 80’s station will be playing in the background, sometimes the foreground. Rest assured, I’m making no money off of “Easy Lover.” She’ll get a hold on you, believe it!
This week in Ramsbottom we’ve had some drama on Tanners Street with the road opening up and threatening to swallow anything that wants to get anywhere too close to it. Yes, we had a sinkhole on Tanners. Thankfully the “Road Closed” signs were obeyed and cars used alternative routes… Well, of course not, people were still […] The post Ralf Little walks into Levanter… – Episode 64 appeared first on This is Rammy.
