She highlights the alternative option of NaPro Technology for addressing infertility. Lastly, she explores the concept of artificial wombs and the ethical considerations surrounding their use. In this conversation, Samantha Stephenson and Will Wright discuss the ethical implications of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and related technologies. They explore the dilemma of frozen embryos and the lack of resolution for their fate. Samantha emphasizes the importance of understanding the sanctity of life and the potential risks and vulnerabilities associated with manipulating human life in such ways. They delve into the Catholic understanding of sin as "missing the mark" and how it relates to these bioethical issues. Samantha raises concerns about the potential psychological and emotional effects on children who are gestated outside of a human womb and the importance of respecting their autonomy and well-being.Throughout the episode, Samantha draws on her background in theology and bioethics to provide insights into the moral implications of these technologies and the need for a deeper understanding of our purpose as human beings. Frenchy and the Punk is made up of singer, percussionist, and lyricist Samantha Stephenson and guitarist and composer Scott Helland. Dark times make for dark songs. "Zen Ghost" was written and recorded from 2020 to 2021 where the duo's shadowy sound takes an even darker turn. An inward spin into the pair's previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. But despite its more pronounced moodiness, like the restof the band's oeuvre, "Zen Ghost" offers plenty of opportunities to dance in the darkness.French-born, but raised in England and America, Stephenson's early study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled her quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts, where he was a vital player on the region's famously fertile Deep Wound along Dinosaur Jr. founders J Mascis and Lou Barlow , as well as Outpatients. http://www.frenchyandthepunk.comhttp://www.frenchyandthepunk.bandcamp.comPlaylist and podcast: https://djnocturna.comYouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/c/DJNocturna Listen : http://modsnapradio.comQUEEN OF WANDS with DJ Nocturna Every Saturday on Modsnap Radio2pm (HST), 5pm (PST), 6pm (MST), 7pm (CST), 8pm (EST)#Modsnap #postpunk #goth #industrialmusic #dark80s  #darkwave

Welcome to The Open Door! (November 17th) Today we discuss theology, bioethics, and evangelizing the culture. We'll also explore how it can be necessary to challenge one's academic alma mater. Our welcome guest is Samantha Stephenson. She holds three degrees from Loyola Marymount University (Los Angeles). She has hosted the podcast Brave New Us: Bioethics in the Light of the Catholic Faith and blogs at Mama Prays. Her book, Reclaiming Motherhood: Faith and Bioethics in a Culture of Confusion is forthcoming from OSV Press. Stephenson is the mother of three young children. Describing herself as “a stay-at-home, write-from-home, coffee guzzling bookworm and a poor but devoted gardener,” she adds, “my training is in the boot camp of motherhood, and my heart is in praying and writing about all of it.” Among the questions we'll ask are the following. Please feel free to suggest others.1. Samantha, if we may, you recently moved from Southern California to Idaho. Have you experienced any culture shock?2. Could you tell us about your podcast? You've had an initial first-rate season. Can we expect another?3. At your blog Mama Prays you explore a wide range of topics. Is motherhood a vocation that opens one up to the world in a unique way?4. We're looking forward to the publication of your first book. How have you structured it and what have you learned in writing it?5. You make reference to a “culture of confusion.” Does this confusion extend to the core question of what it is to be a human being?6. Can a secularized society make any sense of the inescapable reality of suffering?7. You recently challenged your alma mater, Loyola Marymount University, in a way that led to nationwide controversy. A student organization, Women in Politics, sponsored an on-campus fund raiser for Planned Parenthood, the abortion giant. Can you explain just what happened and why?8. How has the University responded to your criticism?9. Why is academic freedom important and why does it have limits?10. Let's look to the future: what new projects do you have in mind?

"Religion, and the especially the Catholic faith, has been talking about these things - who the human person is, why we're here - for thousands of years! So we should be part of the discussion." Samantha Stephenson has always been curious and drawn to the truth. As a convert to the Catholic faith, her journey consisted of a two-fold conversion: one of the intellect, and then of the heart. Being drawn to the intellectual tradition of the Catholic Church led her to pursue a variety of projects and work in different positions, including teaching theology, hosting a podcast on bioethics, and working as a writer. Now as a mother, Samantha continues to encourage other women to follow the passions God has given them as the founder of the community Spoken Women while also nurturing her own passions and encouraging those of her children. In this episode, Samantha and I talk about her conversion to the Catholic faith, her love for the intellectual tradition in the Catholic faith, and the power of having women present at the table when important conversations take place. Here are the show notes for this week's episode. You can listen to Samantha's podcast "Brave New Us" wherever you listen to your podcasts!Learn more about Spoken Women by following them on Instagram and Facebook, @spokenwomen.
