SummaryIn this episode, the self-development coach Johnny Lawrence speaks with Sarah Gregg and Jill Ritchie, founders of the Intuitive Psychology Association. They discuss their personal journeys in self-development and the creation of their organisation. They explain that intuitive psychology combines intuition and psychology to help individuals connect with their inner guidance and heal. They emphasise the importance of working with the shadow, which represents the hidden aspects of ourselves, and how bringing these aspects into awareness can lead to personal growth and transformation. In this conversation, Jill Ritchie and Sarah Gregg discuss the importance of shadow and inner child work for personal growth and healing. They explain how un-layering and exploring the shadow can lead to wholeness and essence. They emphasise the need to address the illusion of external goals and the importance of aligning intentions with actions. Jill and Sarah also highlight common scenarios where shadow work is beneficial, such as overcoming self-sabotage and aligning actions with health goals. They discuss the connection between inner child work and shadow work, emphasising the role of childhood experiences in shaping our beliefs and behaviours. They address resistance to shadow work and provide strategies for starting small and building momentum. They emphasise the value of negative emotions and the opportunity for growth and learning they provide. The conversation concludes with recommendations for resources and books on shadow work and inner child work.TakeawaysUnlayering and exploring the shadow can lead to wholeness and essence.Align intentions with actions to overcome the illusion of external goals.Common scenarios where shadow work is beneficial include self-sabotage and misalignment with health goals.Childhood experiences shape our beliefs and behaviours, making inner child work essential.Address resistance to shadow work by reframing negative emotions and embracing them as opportunities for growth.Start small and build momentum in shadow work to create lasting change.Chapters00:00 Introduction and Background01:30 Personal Journeys and Self-Development16:02 Understanding Intuitive Psychology29:16 Unlayering and Finding Wholeness31:13 The Illusion of External Goals33:14 Common Scenarios Requiring Shadow Work36:30 Inner Child Work and Shadow Work39:00 The Impact of Childhood Experiences45:58 The Gold in Negative Emotions47:20 Addressing Resistance to Shadow Work53:15 Starting Small and Building Momentum54:24 Finding Gold in Negative Emotions57:11 Resources and BooksFIND JILL & SARAHInstagram @we.are.ipaWebsite www.intuitive-psychology.com FIND THE SELF-DEVELOPMENT COACHInstagram @theselfdevelopmentcoach Website www.theselfdevelopmentcoach.co.uk Hosted on Acast. Sarah Gregg thought she had it all. She was happily married, had the perfect career and was fulfilling the life she had planned for herself. But she was ANGRY. She had followed the rules … gone to school, worked hard on her education and got the good job everyone … including her … thought was going to satisfy her needs. However, she was still missing the reward of happiness and fulfilment. So, during a trip away with her husband, they decided to sell up, move on from their secure jobs and travel … and then just see what happens. The freedom of this lifestyle nourished her soul but was consuming the savings and within a few weeks of having to make a financially driven decision to possibly go home … for good … something special happened. The ‘universe' provided … and out of nowhere, she was offered a “book deal”. This changed it all.

Fellow Northern Irish local, author, psychologist and life coach with a huge amount of passion and intellect, Sarah Gregg joins Pete in today's inspiring episode. Leaving her job in 2016 Sarah decided to reinvent her life and chase her dreams to become a successful author. Sarah discusses how her journey led her to have deeper trust within herself, why she believes people should be more open with their feelings and why it is her aim to encourage people to live the life they want.   KEY TAKEAWAYS Sarah believes that life can look good on paper and people can do everything that was expected of them yet still feel discontent. Many people are suffering with these emotions and Sarah endeavours to encourage people to reinvent the rules of happiness and success. She believes that everyone is whole and worthy and we need to live the life that we want. Whilst in Portugal, Sarah was working hard to write and continue to put stuff out there as it was something she loved but it was not working. Whilst part of her contemplated going back to the 9-5 office world, another part told her to keep going and believe in herself. The journey taught Sarah to have a deeper level of trust within herself, when you have that magical things can happen. It is important for Sarah to feel as though she does not need change herself but feel as though she can accept herself. Part of Sarah's work is helping people to move themself into alignment so that they can become ‘in-flow' and figure out how all the parts of themselves work together so that they can flow towards what matters most. As opposed to ‘how do I change myself' to get what I want. In the world of psychology there is an expectation that you should be a perfectly formed human being and not have bad feelings or flaws. What Sarah has realised is, having those flaws, experiences and feelings is what makes her really good at her job. The two aren't separate, the two are part. There should be more times and places where we are vulnerable enough to say ‘I am not having a good day today'. Sarah's book ‘Choose Happy' is about how small changes can create happier results. It takes common roadblocks to happiness such as comparison and gives anecdotes and psychology based strategies to help you navigate your way around that. ‘Choose Happy' helps navigate when your messy, complex lives inevitably bring up new emotions that are harder to handle.   BEST MOMENTS “We are not broken in any way, sometimes the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are a little bit rearranged.” “So much of my journey has been events that cannot be explained.” “When you are in alignment, that is the optimum stage of consciousness.” ABOUT THE GUEST Sarah is a Northern Irish girl with a huge passion for unlocking human potential (you could call it a bit of an obsession). Sarah is a member of the British Psychological Society, a certified life coach, business coach, and a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner. She's helped hundreds of ambitious individuals and businesses to dream big and take consistent action to get the results, with ease. In 2016 Sarah left her job and went in pursuit of her dream to work and travel full time. She now runs The Power to Reinvent and helps people across the world fulfill their potential and feel happier. Laura spent many years travelling the world and discovered various massage disciplines. I realised the positive benefits that massage has, physically, emotionally and psychologically. Natural alternative therapies became one of my biggest passions in life and so I decided to make this passion my career. My Reiki journey began in 2003, and I did my initial training in Holistic Massage ten years ago at Essentials for Health, gaining a Level 4 diploma, the highest qualification for this type of massage in the UK. I then went on to train in Deep Tissue, Restorative, Pregnancy and Postnatal Massage. My Seated Acupressure training was with Touch Pro, the original school of chair massage and I am trained to an advanced level. I am privileged to have learned from some of the industry's best therapists, such as Gerry Pyves, David Palmer, David Godfrey, Sarah Gregg, Gill Tree, and Sally Morris. I specialise in treating office workers, as well as people with disabilities, pre and postnatal mums and the elderly. I’ve massaged at offices and events around London and the home counties, and at festivals throughout the UK. You may remember Sarah Gregg from June of last year where we chatted about reinventing ourselves and adapting to change. During that episode, Sarah shared that she was writing a book. In this episode, Sarah shares her book “Find Your Flow”, the fear in launching the book and standing naked in front of the world. Flow is an optimal mental state that you can control, create, and experience every day. Once you learn how to master flow, your happiness will flow quickly and effortlessly as you use strategies to gain control over your life, focus on what matters most, and motivate action toward your goals and dreams. But how do you harness flow? In Find Your Flow, life coach, and neuro-linguistic programming practitioner Sarah Gregg reveals a powerful four-step journal system that can be applied to your everyday life. All it takes is a few minutes a day to help you find your flow through: · Morning grateful flow—wake up happy as you start your day, writing words of gratitude, and creating a positive mood that lasts all day. · Forward focus—identify your priorities for the day to bring a sense of harmony and balance between what you must do and what you want to do · Total flow—script your ideal day to spot opportunities, stay on course, and defend yourself against distraction · Nighttime reflection—lean into the lessons that are showing up in life, spot opportunities to find more flow, and celebrate the powerful small steps you're taking each day to create meaningful life changes. Find Your Flow is your practical guide to awaken and strengthen your authentic voice so that you can make your signature impact on the world, inspire others, and reach your full potential. Henry Ford once said "whether you believe you can or you can't, you're always right". Belief is the integral foundation we need to be successful in whatever we do. However, if these beliefs aren't positive or constructive ones, they can sometimes limit our potential if they're not questioned by us or fully understood. Limiting beliefs need to be challenged and turned into limitless beliefs, for us to be able to succeed. This week I'm joined by NLP Practitioner, Coach and founder of The Power to Reinvent Sarah Gregg. We're looking at how you can overcome those limiting beliefs you have in your life. We'll be defining what we mean by limiting beliefs, how you can spot them, what impact they're having on you and some practical ways to start overcoming them. If you feel like your thoughts and beliefs are holding you back from making a change or progressing, then this episode is for you. Tune in and get some actionable ways to start tackling those limiting beliefs.
