BRING IRISH & CELTIC MUSIC TO THE WORLD FOR 20 YEARS On July 28, 2005, I released the very first episode of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. This was not my first podcast. There were four others that I released first. All of them are still available to this day. Though one podfaded. When I started, I was publishing the Celtic Music Magazine every week. I started podcasting to promote Celtic bands, but mostly I wanted to promote my own band, Brobdingnagian Bards. It was a new and exciting way to get my music heard. But something happened along the way. It became less and less about my band and more about how I could help bands be heard. And it worked. In fact, I featured a total of 79 Celtic bands in the months that followed in 2005. That includes Brobdingnagian Bards and my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers project. Here are some of the bands who were featured. 1: Susan Hamlin, Three Quarter Ale, Dust Rhinos, Cluan, Fathom, The BorderCollies, Tara's Fire, Paul McKenna, Marc Gunn & The Dubliners' Tabby Cats, Brobdingnagian Bards 2: StoneRing, The Slip, Hugh Morrison, Caladh, MacTalla Mor, Lenahan, The Bloody Irish Boys, Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer, Celtic Stone 3: The Barley Boys, Contea, Queen's Gambit, Highland Fling, Michael Murphy and the River Shannon Band, Amadan, Raymond McCullough, Bow Triplets, The Rogues 4: The Irish Experience, Cairde na Gael, The Black Irish, Avalon Rising, Heather Gilmer and Jeff Moore, Sarah Dinan, Bedlam Bards, Emerald Rose, Kristen Roger, Heather Dale, Serious Kitchen, Empty Hats 5: Rise, Ed Miller, Tullamore, Paisley Close, Cantiga, Thomas "Doc" Grauzer, Cady Finlayson, Rimbo, Don Grieve, Black 47 6: Moch Pryderi, Enter the Haggis, The Patched Hats, Seelie Court, Eric Benson with The Boatrights, Ali Benson, 3 Pints Gone, Sligo Rags, Angel's Share 7: The Tea Merchants, Keltic Kaleidoscope, Brothers 3, EJ Jones, Shays Rebellion, Marc Gunn 8: Niamh Parsons, Flook, Willie McCulloch, Gan Fidil, Pol Mac Adaim, The Elders 9: Tears for Beers, Clandestine, Stonering, Athas, Carl Peterson You can see the full list on the website. Many of these artists are no longer performing. What's more interesting is that about a quarter of these artists are still making new music to this day. Today, I will highlight some of the amazing Celtic bands that are still performing after 15 - 20 years. I started my list with three perennial favorites of mine who've been on the show for a long time and are still performing: Poitin, Ed Miller, and The Gothard Sisters. Admittedly, The Gothard Sisters were a late addition to the show, coming on in 2010. But of all the bands, they are to me a shining beacon of this podcast. Because you can see them grow and develop as musicians and songwriters over the course of this show. So I had to include them. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! The Fae | British FolkloreThe Fae, also known as fairies or faeries, are mythical creatures that appear in the folklore of many cultures, particularly in Celtic mythology. They are often depicted as small, magical beings with wings, who live in a hidden world that is separate from ours.Fairy folklore from Britain has long been classified in various ways. These categorizations, usually derived from scholarly analysis, may not always be in tune with the traditional beliefs of local communities. Generally, these divisions are based on the behavior or physical traits of the fairies. In Celtic mythology, faeries have been divided into two distinct groups: the Seelie Court and the Unseelie Court. This is known to be the most famous division of fairies, as noted by D.L. Ashliman (an American folklorist). The Seelie Court consists of benevolent fairies that are known to be kind to humans, often returning favors for any kindness shown to them. Although they are known to be gentle, they will take vengeance on those who insult them. On the other hand, the Unseelie Court is often seen as the dark side of faeries. They are known to be malevolent, wreaking havoc without provocation, and are closely associated with witches.Subscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesFollow us on YOUTUBEJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITERetelling of this StoryThanks so much for listening and we'll catch up with you again next week for some more true, scary stories.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. While the group who are at the Shuffle Guild finish their night of drinking and revelry… Galadoriel is on her way to the Seelie Court, to speak to Oberon. Upon arrival, she is given information that would aid the party in their quest to save the planes. In her discussion with the King of the Seelie Court, she informs him that she has ceased her search for her father and tells him that her family is with the party. With that, she leaves and enters the tavern again. Greeted by a faun who hands her an envelope that says “Quill” and asks that she delivers it to Quill. She has agreed and reconnects with the rest of the party, now having breakfast after a morning of pranks and “team bonding”. With the new Feywild camapign setting just around the corner, we look at some of the existing mythology of the Feywild, of the Seelie Court and the Gloaming Court, of the Archfey who make up each court, and of the popular culture (and folklore) you can draw upon to make this your own setting -- and how easily the stories of such a place can be told. We also look a bit at some of the existing classess that can bring the Feywild's magic into your next character. Zechs finds himself in the Feywild in the Seelie Court and has an audience with King Oberon. Meanwhile, in the training room, Shanks and Attros use an exhibition match to clear up any bad air that remains between them. Zechs, now has his memories back, has returned to the tavern. He informs the party of what happened. The Journeyman suspects The Constable, but tells only Galahad. More and more this party seems to be coming apart at the seams. This week on the It's A Mimic! podcast, the panel of Dungeon Masters sits down to meticulously review the fine print for those who want to commit to Warlocks. Braydon and Belinda take a turn down a different path tonight, and giggle their way through a discussion about fairies! They are beings who can be found in many European cultures, and are often described as being nature spirits who play pranks upon humans. Fairies or Fae, usually belong to two "courts", the Seelie Court (or Summer Court) and the Unseelie Court (or Winter Court). These classifications discern a fairy's temperament, and how vicious they are with their pranks.Belinda starts the episode off with a very giggly explanation of the Donas De Fuera in Sicily, Italy. She discusses different encounters with the fairy spirits and "elves", and talks about the fairy witch trials which occurred when the Spanish Inquisition believed that the local fairy beliefs were evidence of a witches sabbath!Braydon goes on to chat about the Water Horse or Kelpie, an unseelie fae known to lure children to locations of water and drag them to their deaths. The creature is a renowned shapeshifter of Scotland and is said to inhabit any of the streams, rivers, lochs, ponds, and places with water in and around the nation. In fact, most bodies of water in Scotland have kelpie tales behind them. The kelpie can change from a wet horse to a gorgeous human, using its innocent appearance to bring people close before ultimately murdering them.If you wanted to follow us on social media, we can be found on: Facebook, and on Instagram You, Me, and a Poltergeist, Braydon, BelindaCHECK OUT ALL THE OTHER PODCAST ON TNC: THATSNOTCANON.COM See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
I wrote this story in the summer of 2014 as a submission for, and was published in, the Seventh Star Press anthology, A Chimerical World: Tales of the Seelie Court. It is a tie-in to my Tipsy Fairy Tales series, between Blue Spirit and Restless Spirit. It takes place during the time when Skye was borrowed by R.J. Sullivan for his novel, Virtual Blue. I figured since Minnie didn't make an appearance in that book, I wanted to write about her solo adventures in Bloomington, Indiana. On her own, Minnie gets into as much trouble as Skye, but without anyone to bail her out. Have you ever wondered what Hope, the alien singer in The Multiverse Blues looks like? I have commissioned artwork depicting her, and will be sharing it with you very soon!

Enter the enchanted world of the fae and learn about the mysteries of the Seelie Court in Shadowrun. Nothing is ever quite as it seems, and our favorite Crow Shaman, Opti, helps guide us. Chit-Chat / Catching Up BOBBY - New door, last Actual Play session, and website comments. News / Stuff Sixth World Podcast is one year old! Q&A Daniel Barkum - How do you handle distance when out comes to hosts? When I read the description in the core rulebook it says that hosts have no physical location, but that on the matrix it seems to have a location related to a physical one but with a distance to the "ground" related to its importance. That doesn't really make sense to me though. Distance increases the noise, so the more important a host is the higher the noise rating will be for anyone to get in? Seems a bit harsh… Cory Barnes - Hey Bobby, Cassie, and anyone else out there, I hope all is well in your lives. I want to preface my question with a brief background, I've been a consistent listener to many podcasts (most of which are shadowrun related) and have thoroughly enjoyed the content you guys and all of the other shadowcasters put out there, I have always dabbled with the idea of getting into radio/podcasting/recording and well you guys have really inspired me with the amount of "success" the shadowcasters community has been getting. So my actual question is, do you have any advice for someone like myself who would like to get involved in podcasting and other shadowrun related media content?
