BRING IRISH & CELTIC MUSIC TO THE WORLD FOR 20 YEARS On July 28, 2005, I released the very first episode of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast. This was not my first podcast. There were four others that I released first. All of them are still available to this day. Though one podfaded. When I started, I was publishing the Celtic Music Magazine every week. I started podcasting to promote Celtic bands, but mostly I wanted to promote my own band, Brobdingnagian Bards. It was a new and exciting way to get my music heard. But something happened along the way. It became less and less about my band and more about how I could help bands be heard. And it worked. In fact, I featured a total of 79 Celtic bands in the months that followed in 2005. That includes Brobdingnagian Bards and my Irish Drinking Songs for Cat Lovers project. Here are some of the bands who were featured. 1: Susan Hamlin, Three Quarter Ale, Dust Rhinos, Cluan, Fathom, The BorderCollies, Tara's Fire, Paul McKenna, Marc Gunn & The Dubliners' Tabby Cats, Brobdingnagian Bards 2: StoneRing, The Slip, Hugh Morrison, Caladh, MacTalla Mor, Lenahan, The Bloody Irish Boys, Vicki Swan & Jonny Dyer, Celtic Stone 3: The Barley Boys, Contea, Queen's Gambit, Highland Fling, Michael Murphy and the River Shannon Band, Amadan, Raymond McCullough, Bow Triplets, The Rogues 4: The Irish Experience, Cairde na Gael, The Black Irish, Avalon Rising, Heather Gilmer and Jeff Moore, Sarah Dinan, Bedlam Bards, Emerald Rose, Kristen Roger, Heather Dale, Serious Kitchen, Empty Hats 5: Rise, Ed Miller, Tullamore, Paisley Close, Cantiga, Thomas "Doc" Grauzer, Cady Finlayson, Rimbo, Don Grieve, Black 47 6: Moch Pryderi, Enter the Haggis, The Patched Hats, Seelie Court, Eric Benson with The Boatrights, Ali Benson, 3 Pints Gone, Sligo Rags, Angel's Share 7: The Tea Merchants, Keltic Kaleidoscope, Brothers 3, EJ Jones, Shays Rebellion, Marc Gunn 8: Niamh Parsons, Flook, Willie McCulloch, Gan Fidil, Pol Mac Adaim, The Elders 9: Tears for Beers, Clandestine, Stonering, Athas, Carl Peterson You can see the full list on the website. Many of these artists are no longer performing. What's more interesting is that about a quarter of these artists are still making new music to this day. Today, I will highlight some of the amazing Celtic bands that are still performing after 15 - 20 years. I started my list with three perennial favorites of mine who've been on the show for a long time and are still performing: Poitin, Ed Miller, and The Gothard Sisters. Admittedly, The Gothard Sisters were a late addition to the show, coming on in 2010. But of all the bands, they are to me a shining beacon of this podcast. Because you can see them grow and develop as musicians and songwriters over the course of this show. So I had to include them. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST! Then he dove into the world of buying small businesses and acquired two HVAC companies. AND he runs Smooth Operator, which places veterans in leadership positions in small businesses. I like him a lot and I think you will also.

In this episode, we hear from Jared Lenahan, a US Navy Veteran. He was a combat medic for the Marine Corps known as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman. After an accident overseas in 2016, he found himself going from climber to paraclimber. He used adaptive climbing as an integral part of his recovery and has competed as a US Paraclimbing Team Athlete for four years. Jared is also an ambassador for both the National Ability Center and Move United (a Warfighter ambassador for MU). Because the outdoor adaptive community has been so critical to his personal recovery, he started a program to help other wounded warriors get reintegrated into community through adaptive climbing. This program called “Climbable” introduces warriors to the adaptive sports community before they lose their military community and shows them a streamlined path to transition from recovery to the rest of their lives. In this interview, Jared and I talk about disability identity, imposter syndrome, addiction, and how climbing as a through-line in his life has guided his life decisions — especially the decision to start Climbable. We recorded this conversation in early 2024 with Jared hoping to officially launch the program by the summer of 2024.

He discusses the significance of maintaining a shared vision and culture within the organization, particularly as it grows. Alan's approach involves actively engaging with both clients and team members, listening to their needs, and aligning FEG's capabilities to deliver exceptional results. Kieran Lenahan believes that so much of who we become is influenced by what we allow our minds to dwell on. He has prioritised scripture memorization as a spiritual discipline which is allowing his mind to consistently and rhythmically come back to the truth of God's Word again and again. He shares with Mike a story of when his life was directed and a decision was clarified for him through a memorised passage from Deuteronomy and they speculate on ways in which a church community, which is memorizing the same scripture passages might greet each other, and how the preaching (and discipleship) ministry could be enhanced. Kieran has developed a text-message based scripture memorization system that has served him and his community called Malachi Daily; to sign up (for free) visit https://malachidaily.com/?via=expositor-s-collectiveKieran Lenahan is a husband, foster/adoptive dad to 2 toddlers and an entrepreneur working at the intersection of entrepreneurship and spiritual formation. He's a coach to faith driven entrepreneurs and the co-founder of Malachi Daily, a subscription service that helps Jesus followers memorize 1 passage of Scripture a week and learn its context, via text messages. When he's not working, you can find him on the basketball court, in a body of water or spending time with his family. “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52, ESV)“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.”Psalm 1:1-6Recommended Episodes: Jonathan Pennington on the benefits of scripture memorization (and the Sermon on the Mount) https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2022/7/12/the-preaching-style-of-jesus-with-jonathan-penningtonDave Sylvester on meditation and contemplation during his sermon preparation process: https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2019/10/1/episode-67-the-preachers-meditation Suzy Silk in Biblical Meditation: https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2022/7/5/seeing-christ-responsibly-in-the-old-testament-suzy-silk For information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches. Join us for a special edition of the podcast where we chat with our friend Kieren Lenahan, an amazing faith-driven entrepreneur and the creator of Malachi Daily, a scripture memorization tool. Kiran shares his journey from growing up in New Jersey to working in corporate and eventually becoming a coach. We explore how his faith played a significant role in his decision to pursue full-time entrepreneurship and how Malachi Daily was born out of his own personal experiences with scripture memorization. We discuss the common obstacles faith-driven entrepreneurs face, such as the false tension between ambition and contentment and the misconception that there's always a "right" answer when navigating the uncertain world of entrepreneurship. Finally, we dive into the development process of Malachi Daily, how Kieren built and tested the MVP, and the importance of honest feedback in the entrepreneurial journey. But mostly, it features songwriting by Marc Gunn with guests including: Screeched Inn, The Muckers, Jamie Haeuser, Sam Gillogly, Nathan Deese, and Mikey Mason. Selcouth means, “when everything is strange and different, yet you find it marvelous anyway.” The album is not completely Celtic and it's not just science fiction and fantasy. It's a fusion of the two. It's heartfelt and a lot of fun. It's now on sale in my Bandcamp store. Check out Selcouth now. THANK YOU PATRONS OF THE PODCAST!
